THIS IS OUR MANSFIELD ISD SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE REGULAR BOARD MEETING.

AT THIS TIME, LET'S CALL OUR MEETING TO ORDER AT 6:00 P.M.

LET THE RECORD SHOW THAT ALL TRUSTEES ARE PRESENT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TRUSTEE JESSE CANNON II.

HE WILL BE JOINING US VERY SHORTLY. AT THIS TIME, WE'LL MOVE TO ITEM 3.

OUR MEETING, OPENING WITH OUR PRAYER FROM TRUSTEE THOMAS AND PLEDGES WILL BE PROVIDED BY TRUSTEE NEWSOM.

LET US PRAY. HEAVENLY FATHER, WE COME BEFORE YOU THIS EVENING WITH GRATITUDE FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO GATHER AND SERVE THE STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND EDUCATORS OF MANSFIELD ISD. GRANT WISDOM TO EACH MEMBER OF THIS BOARD AS THEY CONSIDER THE DECISIONS BEFORE THEM.

HELP THEM TO LISTEN WITH OPEN MINDS, SPEAK WITH CLARITY AND RESPECT AND ACT WITH INTEGRITY AND COURAGE.

MAY EVERY DISCUSSION BE GUIDED BY A SHARED COMMITMENT TO WHAT IS RIGHT AND BEST FOR ALL CHILDREN.

WE ASK FOR UNITY WHERE THERE MAY BE DISAGREEMENT, PATIENCE WHERE THERE IS TENSION AND HUMILITY IN MOMENTS OF UNCERTAINTY.

PUBLIC COMMENTS. THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING THE BOARD DURING PUBLIC COMMENTS IS AS FOLLOWS.

EACH SPEAKER SHOULD ADDRESS THE BOARD FROM THE PODIUM MICROPHONE AND STATE HIS OR HER NAME BEFORE SPEAKING.

AT THE OUTSET, I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT MY COMMENTS FOCUS ON DISTRICT LEVEL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS AND GOVERNANCE PRIORITIES.

I RESPECT THE BOARD'S POLICIES REGARDING OPEN FORUMS, AND I AM NOT ADDRESSING OR EVALUATING ANY INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE.

FROM A PARENT'S PERSPECTIVE, ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP IS CRITICAL BECAUSE IT DETERMINES HOW THE BOARD'S VISION IS EXPERIENCED BY STUDENTS, PARENTS, EDUCATORS, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

WHILE TRUSTEES SET DIRECTION THROUGH POLICY AND STRATEGIC PRIORITIES, ADMINISTRATORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CARRYING THAT VISION FORWARD IN CONSISTENT, EFFECTIVE, AND STUDENT FOCUSED WAYS. ONE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY THAT MATTERS DEEPLY TO FAMILIES IS PARENT ENGAGEMENT.

MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT GOES BEYOND INFORMATION SHARING.

IT REFLECTS HOW LEADERSHIP BUILDS TRUST, INVITES COLLABORATION, AND CREATES CLEAR COMMUNICATION CHANNELS.

WHEN PARENT PARTNERSHIPS ARE TREATED AS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF LEADERSHIP, SCHOOL COMMUNITIES ARE STRONGER AND BETTER ALIGNED AROUND STUDENT SUCCESS.

MISD ALWAYS ARTICULATES ITS VALUES THROUGH GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND MOTTOS THAT REFLECT HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND SHARED PURPOSE.

PARENTS APPRECIATE ASPIRATIONAL LANGUAGE. AT THE SAME TIME, WE LOOK TO DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TO ENSURE THOSE VALUES ARE TRANSLATED INTO DAILY PRACTICES, DECISIONS, AND BEHAVIORS.

VALUE GAINS. VALUES GAIN CREDIBILITY WHEN THEY ARE CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATED, NOT SIMPLY STATED.

AS YOU CONSIDER ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACT RENEWALS, FAMILIES LIKE MINE HOPE THE PROCESS CONTINUES TO REINFORCE EXPECTATIONS FOR LEADERS WHO SUPPORT MEANINGFUL AND RESPECTFUL PARENT ENGAGEMENT.

TRANSLATE DISTRICT VALUES INTO CONSISTENT, OBSERVABLE ACTION, FOSTER POSITIVE, SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL CULTURES, PROVIDE CLARITY AND FOLLOW THROUGH FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF, AND KEEP STUDENT SUCCESS AT THE CENTER OF DECISION MAKING.

ADMINISTRATIVE CONTRACTS. CONTRACT RENEWALS ARE IMPORTANT GOVERNANCE RESPONSIBILITY.

THEY PROVIDE CONTINUITY WHERE APPROPRIATE AND REINFORCE ACCOUNTABILITY AND ALIGNMENT WITH THE BOARD'S EXPECTATIONS.

THESE DECISIONS SHAPE NOT JUST LEADERSHIP STABILITY, BUT THE EFFECTIVENESS WITH WHICH DISTRICT PRIORITIES ARE CARRIED OUT ACROSS ALL CAMPUSES.

I ALSO RECOGNIZE THE COMPLEXITY OF PUBLIC EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND THE CHALLENGES CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS FACE.

STRONG VALUES ALIGNED LEADERSHIP IS ESSENTIAL TO SUSTAINING TRUST AND PROGRESS AS MISD CONTINUES TO EVOLVE.

AS PARENTS, WE HOPE THE DECISIONS MADE TONIGHT MOVE BEYOND GOOD INTENTIONS TO MEANINGFUL ACTION.

BECAUSE OUR STUDENTS, EVERY SCHOOL YEAR ONLY HAPPENS ONCE.

PREPARING THEM TO BE ABLE TO READ ON LEVEL BY 3RD GRADE AND CONTINUE BY 3RD GRADE.

OUR MISSION IS TO EMPOWER AND ENGAGE OUR FAMILIES HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD THROUGH OUR WORKSHOPS AND PROGRAMING.

AND HOW DO WE DO THAT? AND SO WE DO THAT THROUGH CONTINUING THE EMPOWERMENT AND ENGAGEMENT THROUGH ALL THAT WE DO TO SUPPORT FAMILIES HERE IN THE DISTRICT.

AND SO THIS IS OUR WHY. LAST YEAR, WE HAD A PARENT THAT CAME TO ONE OF OUR WORKSHOPS AND SHE SHARED, YOU KNOW, WE WERE NEW TO MANSFIELD. I HAD A STRUGGLING TEEN, TEENAGER.

AND LONG STORY SHORT, I AM SO THANKFUL THAT I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF THE WORKSHOPS BECAUSE I FOUND MY VILLAGE AND IT WAS HELPFUL AND ENCOURAGING.

AND THAT'S WHAT WE WANT AND THAT KEEPS US GOING.

SO OUR SERVICES, WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILIES HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD? PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOPS, TOURS.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT PARTNERSHIPS AND PARENT INITIATIVES, OUR PARENT WORKSHOPS.

SO THIS YEAR WE ARE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THE INCREASE IN ATTENDANCE FOR PARENT WORKSHOPS BY 12% THIS YEAR.

WE HOSTED 12 WORKSHOPS FOR FAMILIES AND STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT DURING THE 25-26 SCHOOL YEAR.

AND AS WE SPEAK ABOUT CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, WE'VE RECEIVED FEEDBACK FROM LAST YEAR'S PRESENTATION FROM OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND ALSO FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT HOW CAN WE CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE SERVICE THAT WE OFFER TO FAMILIES.

AND SO WE WE ADDED A VIRTUAL OPTION THIS YEAR BASED ON FEEDBACK TO ENSURE THAT ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE PROGRAMING.

WE ALSO, THROUGH FEEDBACK FROM OUR COMMUNITY ADDED LANGUAGE TRANSLATION SERVICES.

AND SO IN ADDITION TO ENGLISH, WE HAVE PARENTS CAN CHOOSE THEIR LANGUAGE TO LISTEN IN TO OUR WORKSHOPS THAT ARE PROVIDED.

AND SO, OF COURSE, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SATISFIED WITH THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING IN ORDER TO SUPPORT AND SERVE.

AND SO WE HAVE A 99% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RATING.

AND SO OUR WORKSHOP OVERVIEW, WE HAVE FOUR AREAS THAT WE FOCUS ON FOR WORKSHOPS.

THAT'S ACADEMICS, MENTAL HEALTH, PARENTING AND COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS.

COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS. THAT WAS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR WORKSHOPS AND HOW WE SUPPORTED PARENTS THIS YEAR.

THE ROOM WAS FULL WITH PARENTS WHO ARE EXCITED TO HEAR ABOUT, HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT ME IN UNDERSTANDING THIS PROCESS? AND SO HERE ARE SOME OF THE FEEDBACK FROM OUR PARENTS.

THEY ENJOYED THE INFORMATION AND THE RESOURCES THAT WAS PROVIDED FROM OUR GUEST SPEAKERS, WHICH WAS MISD COUNSELORS.

THEY REALLY LIKED THE TIPS THAT THEY RECEIVED TO APPLY TO COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION BECAUSE EVERYONE WANTS MONEY FOR COLLEGE, AND THEY FELT THAT THE INFORMATION THAT WAS SHARED WAS CLEAR AND GREAT VISUALS TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND, HOW DO I START HERE IN THE FRESHMAN YEAR AND THEN MOVING ON.

SO GOING ON TO BEING PREPARED FOR COLLEGE AND BEING READY FOR THE NEXT STEPS.

WE OFFER COLLEGE TOURS, AND THIS YEAR WE OFFERED 157.

157 PARENTS PARTICIPATED IN OUR COLLEGE TOURS.

WE HAVE A VERY DIVERSE OFFERING AND WHERE WE TAKE OUR STUDENTS AND PARENTS.

AND SO THIS YEAR WE VISITED PRAIRIE VIEW A&M UNIVERSITY, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS - AUSTIN, AND SAM HOUSTON. AND SO WHAT MAKES OUR TOURS UNIQUE? AND OF COURSE, THAT'S PARENTS, PARENTS. WE TAKE PARENTS ALONG BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE STUDENTS ARE HEARING THIS INFORMATION ABOUT NEXT STEPS, TAKING ALONG THE STAKEHOLDERS WHO MATTERS MOST, THE ONES THAT WILL BE PAYING, PARENTS.

AND FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND HOW DO WE GET STARTED EARLY TO PREPARE FOR COLLEGE? AND SO THIS YEAR, ALSO ALONG THE SAME LINES OF TOURS, WE OFFERED POWER OF CHOICE TOURS.

THIS WAS YEAR 1. AND SO BEFORE PARENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY BEFORE THEY START THE APPLICATION PROCESS, WE WANTED THEM TO SEE WHAT IS IT THAT MANSFIELD ISD IS OFFERING AND WHAT IS THEIR CHILDREN?

WHAT DO THEIR CHILDREN HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO? SO YOU'LL SEE THE LISTING OF SCHOOLS THAT PARENTS WERE ABLE TO VISIT THIS YEAR.

WE HAD 71 PARENTS WHO PARTICIPATED ON THE TOURS.

AND HERE'S THE FEEDBACK BASED ON VISITING THE CLASSROOMS. AND SO PARENTS THAT ARE REALLY THE VISIT REALLY HELPED ME TO UNDERSTAND PROGRAMING.

I WAS ABLE TO GO INTO THE CLASSROOM AND SEE THE STUDENTS IN ACTION, AND I NOW KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AND SEE IF THIS IS GOING TO BE A GOOD FIT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

SO THEY LEFT EXCITED AND HAPPY AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE APPLICATION PROCESS.

SO PARTNERSHIPS. THIS YEAR WE HAVE THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER WITH THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND THE LANGUAGE ACQUISITION DEPARTMENT TO SHARE WITH THEM BEST PRACTICES AND HOW DO WE SUPPORT FAMILIES.

SO EACH DEPARTMENT HAS A PARENT ENGAGEMENT COMPONENT.

AND SO WE MET WITH THEM FOR THE END RESULT TO ENSURE THE OFFERINGS THAT THEY HAVE.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT PARENTS WERE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THAT.

SO WHEN WE MET EACH EACH MONTH, WE TALKED ABOUT WHAT ARE OUR PROCESSES THAT WE FOLLOW? WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PROTOCOLS? WHAT IS OUR MARKETING PLAN AND HOW DO WE STRATEGICALLY DESIGN WORKSHOPS TO ENSURE THAT IT MEETS PARENTS NEEDS AND THAT THEY CAN GROW AND UNDERSTAND CONTINUALLY HOW TO SUPPORT FAMILIES? SO PARENT ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES. THIS YEAR WE LAUNCHED PATHWAY TO COLLEGE.

SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THAT. WE WORKED WITH 15 SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS FROM OUR TITLE 1 SCHOOLS, WHICH IS SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL AND TIMBERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL.

AND DURING THE PATHWAY TO COLLEGE, THERE ARE FOUR STRANDS THAT WE FOCUS ON WITH THE PARENTS AND STUDENTS.

AND SO THE FIRST ONE IS MENTORSHIP. UNDERSTANDING HOW DO I START AND WHERE DO I START WITH THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS? WHAT'S IMPORTANT? WHAT SHOULD I BE DOING NOW AS A SOPHOMORE, AS A JUNIOR, IN ORDER TO BE COMPETITIVE AS THEY APPLY TO COLLEGE? EXPOSURE. WE KNOW EXPOSURE IS IMPORTANT, SO WE EXPOSE THEM TO VARIOUS COLLEGES.

AND A TESTIMONY FROM THAT ONE OF OUR PATHWAY TO COLLEGE STUDENTS, HE SAID, I AM GOING TO UT, I'M GOING TO UT. SO AFTER THE COLLEGE TOUR, HE SAID, YOU KNOW, I THINK NOW PRAIRIE VIEW IS MY PLACE.

[LAUGHTER]. SO EXPOSURE AND ACCESS. WE BROUGHT IN GUEST SPEAKERS.

RANDALL CANEDY WAS ONE OF OUR SPEAKERS, AND HE SPOKE ABOUT THE FINANCIAL COMMITMENT OF SCHOOL AND HOW DO WE PLAN AHEAD NOW IN ORDER TO BE AT THEIR DREAM SCHOOL AND THEN CONFIDENCE JUST READY. ONE OF OUR PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR.

HER QUESTION WAS, WELL, HOW WILL I KNOW COLLEGE WERE TO GO? THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION. AND BY THE END OF THIS PROGRAM, SHE IN GOING ON THE TOURS.

I THINK SHE'S READY AND ABLE TO UNDERSTAND. YOU KNOW, I MIGHT NOT WANT A BIG SCHOOL AND VISITING SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY FEEL LIKE, OKAY, THIS MAY BE A GOOD FIT. SO OUR NEXT LAUNCH THIS YEAR, WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH DRAFT DAY FOR DADS.

SO WE HAVE OUR DADS IN THE SCHOOL FOR FATHERS READ.
