THAT'S REALLY NO SUCH THING, BUT WELCOME TO OUR REGULAR BOARD MEETING FOR DECEMBER DECEMBER 16, 2025, AND LET THE RECORD SHOW THAT ALL BOARD MEMBERS ARE HERE.

WE'RE GOING TO CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 6:00 P.M. IT'S OKAY.

ITEM NUMBER 3. FOR THIS EVENING, WE WILL HAVE OUR PRAYER LED BY TRUSTEE NEWSON AND OUR PLEDGES LED BY TRUSTEE HORN.

YES. FOR OUR PLEDGE, TRUSTEE HORN, WE ARE HONORED TO HAVE THE PRESENTATION OF COLORS BY THE TIMBER VIEW HIGH SCHOOL JROTC.

AS WE ENTER INTO THIS SEASON OF GRATITUDE AND REFLECTION, WE ARE ESPECIALLY MINDFUL OF THE BLESSINGS THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US, THE GIFT OF EDUCATION, THE STRENGTH OF OUR SCHOOLS, AND THE DEDICATION OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO LEAD, TEACH, AND SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN DAILY.

LORD, WE LIFT UP OUR TEACHERS AND OUR STAFF WHO HAVE POURED THEIR ENERGY AND CARE INTO THIS SEMESTER.

AS THEY APPROACH A WELL EARNED BREAK, WE ASK THAT YOU RENEW THEIR STRENGTH, GRANT THEM REST, AND BLESS THEM WITH JOY AND PEACE IN THE COMPANY OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

EACH MONTH DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, STUDENTS FROM OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ARE SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE SCHOOL BOARDS SUPERSTAR AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP.

THESE YOUNG STUDENTS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FROM THEIR CAMPUS BASED ON VIRTUES OF OUTSTANDING CHARACTER, CITIZENSHIP, FAIRNESS, HONESTY, KINDNESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND TRUSTWORTHINESS.

BEFORE WE BRING OUR SUPERSTARS UP, I'D LIKE TO ASK YOU TO PLEASE TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SCREENS TO LEARN WHAT MAKES THESE YOUNG SCHOLARS SO SUPER.

EACH YEAR, STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD TAKE THE PSAT ASSESSMENTS AND OUR ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES TO AID THEM IN THEIR JOURNEY FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO COLLEGE AND BEYOND.

COLLEGE BOARD RECOGNITION PROGRAMS CRITERIA INCLUDE A GPA OF A B PLUS, WHICH IS ABOUT A 3.3 OR HIGHER, AND ONE OF TWO ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS, SCORING IN THE TOP 10% ON THE PSAT/NMSQ OR THE PSA 10.

THE SECOND CRITERIA IS EARNING A THREE OR HIGHER ON AT LEAST TWO EXAMS BY THE END OF TENTH GRADE.

THIS PRESTIGIOUS BAND PERFORMED FOR A CELEBRITY HOST, A GRANDSTAND AUDIENCE, AND MORE THAN 50 MILLION TV VIEWERS.

TO BE SELECTED AS DRUM MAJOR, ELLA PARTICIPATED IN THE SMITH WALBRIDGE DRUM MAJOR CLINICS IN JULY AND DEMONSTRATED EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP, CONDUCTING MARCHING AND OVERALL CHARACTER IN ORDER TO BE ONE OF ONLY TWO PEOPLE CHOSEN AMONG OVER 400 APPLICANTS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.

AT THE CLINIC, SHE EARNED THE TITLE OF FIRST-CLASS DRUM MAJOR BY GOING THROUGH SEVERAL PHASES OF RIGOROUS TESTS WHICH PROVED HER ABILITY TO BE A GREAT SELECTION FOR HIS HONORABLE ROLE.

THUS CONGRATULATE ELLA FOR HER AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT.

FOR US, OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLANNING PROCESS AND OUR CAMPUS PROCESS REALLY STARTS WITH IDENTIFYING AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT.

THEN WORKING THROUGH USING OUR QUALITY TOOLS AND CONDUCTING ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS AND REALLY IDENTIFYING ONE THING OR THINGS WITHIN OUR DEPARTMENTS, OUR DIVISIONS, AND OUR CAMPUSES THAT WE CAN WORK ON IN ORDER TO REALLY WORK TOWARDS OUR GOAL AND OUR VISION 2030, AND BEING SURE THAT WE'RE SUPPORTING EVERYTHING THAT WE FIND VALUABLE AND IMPORTANT IN MANSFIELD ISD.

THIS IS A COMMITTEE THAT I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF LEADING, AND I REALLY ENJOY THEM.

THEY ARE A GREAT GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE COME TOGETHER TO REALLY ADD TO OUR LEADERSHIP IN OUR DISTRICT.

THE COMMITTEE IS COMPRISED OF CAMPUS-LEVEL PARTICIPANTS, AND THAT CAN BE TEACHERS AND/OR ADMINISTRATORS, DISTRICT-LEVEL PERSONNEL, AND WE ALSO HAVE PARENTS, BUSINESS MEMBERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.

THESE ARE TWO-YEAR TERMS THAT EACH OF THE PARTICIPANTS SIGN UP AND COMMIT TO.

IF IT'S AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL, THEN OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE RECOMMENDED OR NOMINATED BY PEOPLE ON THEIR CAMPUS, AND THEN THEY VOTE TO SEE WHO'S GOING TO REPRESENT THEIR CAMPUS FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

AS YOU KNOW, PEOPLE GET PROMOTIONS, AND WE BUILD THEIR CAPACITY, AND THEY MOVE ON, OR THEY MOVE OUT OF THE POSITION, AND SO SOMETIMES WE HAVE A ONE-YEAR TERM WHERE PEOPLE ARE FILLING IN FOR A YEAR, BUT FOR THE MOST PART, THIS IS A TWO-YEAR COMMITMENT.

FOR THAT, WE HAVE THREE PARENT REPRESENTATIVES THAT TAKE ON A TWO-YEAR COMMITMENT.

WE HAVE TWO BUSINESS POSITIONS AND THEN ONE COMMUNITY, AND SO THIS YEAR WE HAVE PEOPLE ROLL OFF, AND SO IT'S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO COME ON.

WE WORKED WITH MS. LAURA JOBE AND HER TEAM IN ORDER TO ADVERTISE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

THEY SENT OUT EMAIL BLAST AND SOCIAL MEDIA, AND THINGS ON PARENTSQUARE.

BECAUSE OUR COMMUNITY VALUES WHAT WE DO IN MANSFIELD ISD SO MUCH, THERE WAS A LOT OF INTEREST.

WE HAD OVER 400 APPLICANTS FOR FOUR POSITIONS THAT WE HAD AVAILABLE, AND SO WE HAD TWO PARENT POSITIONS, ONE COMMUNITY, AND ONE BUSINESS, AND SO MS. JOBE AND HER TEAM DID A RANDOM SELECTION AFTER THE APPLICANTS APPLIED.

THEN FROM THAT RANDOM SELECTION, WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER THOSE PARTICIPANTS OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE ON THE COUNCIL.

WE JUST APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT AND THEN WANTING TO BE INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS AND WHAT WE'RE DOING JUST AS FAR AS THE DISTRICT.

THE COMMITTEE IS GREAT.

THIS IS A COMMITTEE THAT WE COME TOGETHER ONCE A MONTH, AND I TALKED TO THEM IN THE FIRST MEETING ABOUT THEM BEING AN ADVISORY COUNCIL.

IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY, AND WE DO WANT THEIR INPUT AND THEIR FEEDBACK.

WE ALSO TALK ABOUT AT EVERY MEETING, WE START OUR NORMS WITH WHAT WE TALK ABOUT HERE, LIVES HERE.

WE TALK ABOUT CELEBRATIONS.

WE HAVE PEOPLE COME IN AND PROVIDE PRESENTATIONS TO THEM.

THEN WE WANT THEM TO GO BACK TO THEIR CAMPUSES AND SHARE WHAT'S HAPPENING.

WE WANT THEM TO GO IN THE COMMUNITY AND TO THEIR BUSINESS PARTNERS AND TALK ABOUT THE GREAT THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING AT MISD.

FOR EXAMPLE, EARLIER THIS YEAR, IT HAD TO BE IN AUGUST.

WE HAD OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEAM COME INTO THE FIRST MEETING, AND SO THEY WERE ABLE TO SHARE OUR PLANNING FOR PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT.

HOW THEY WANT TO ENGAGE OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION FAMILIES.

FROM THAT, THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE A QR CODE, AND WE HAD SOME TEACHERS SAY, "HEY, CAN WE HAVE THAT QR CODE TO PUT ON THE TABLE IN OUR CONFERENCE ROOM." WHEN WE HAVE RS, OUR PARENTS CAN GO AHEAD AND SCAN IT, AND THEY CAN SEE ALL OF OUR PARENT EVENTS THAT WE HAVE FOR OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION FAMILIES.

CAN WE PUT THAT ON THE FRONT OF OUR DOOR WHEN THEY WALK OUT SO THAT THEY CAN SCAN IT? BUT THAT WAS A WAY THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET INFORMATION DIRECTLY TO TEACHERS, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO COME UP WITH IDEAS OF HOW THEY COULD USE THAT ON THEIR PARTICULAR CAMPUSES.

WE CONTINUE TO BRING IN REPRESENTATIVES FROM OUR DISTRICT SO THAT THEY CAN SHARE THAT INFORMATION, AND THAT THOSE TEACHERS AND THOSE REPRESENTATIVES CAN GO BACK AND SHARE WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN REQUIREMENTS, AND SEPTEMBER AND AUGUST IS WHEN WE START TO ESTABLISH OUR DEIC CHARTER.

THAT'S WHEN WE WORK WITH MS. JOBE, BEING SURE THAT WE GET THE COMMUNICATION OUT TO THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND THEN WE FINALIZED THAT CHARTER IN SEPTEMBER.

ALSO, WHAT HAPPENS IN SEPTEMBER IS THAT DR. LIDDELL, WHO WAS OUR DIRECTOR OF FEDERAL PROGRAMS, SHE CAME IN TO PRESENT TO OUR GROUP.

AGAIN, WE'RE PROVIDING THEM INFORMATION SO THAT THEY HAVE INFORMATION TO SHARE AND TO SPEAK ABOUT WITH OTHERS.

SHE SHARED OUR INTENT FOR FEDERAL FUNDS, AND THEN OCTOBER, WE HAD DR. EVANS ONSONGO, WHO WAS OUR DIRECTOR OF ASSESSMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY.

HE CAME TO PRESENT OUR COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND REALLY HOW WE'RE PERFORMING AS A DISTRICT.

HE SHARED ALL OF OUR ACCOUNTABILITY DATA.

HE SHARED CELEBRATIONS, HE SHARED OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT, BUT PROVIDED THEM A LENS THAT THEY HAD TO LOOK THROUGH SO THAT WHEN WE GOT TO THE PLANNING PIECE, THEY HAD INFORMATION IN ORDER TO OFFER VALUABLE FEEDBACK.

THEN IN NOVEMBER, I PRESENTED THE DISTRICT SCORECARD TO THEM, SO I SHOWED THEM HOW TO GO ON OUR DISTRICT WEBSITE, WHERE TO FIND OUR SCORECARD, WHAT THOSE THINGS MEAN, THAT WE WERE WORKING IN FIVE-YEAR INCREMENTS, AND SO 2021-2026 AND THAT WE WERE COMING UP AT THE END OF OUR SCORECARD.

I ALSO SHARED WITH THEM WHAT THOSE COLORS MEAN, GREEN MEANS GOOD.

BLUE MEANS THAT WE'RE ABOVE THAT GOAL, AND SO THEY HAD CONTEXT OF WHAT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR.

THEN THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW ALL OF THE DEPARTMENT PLANS ON A PAGE, WHICH IS WHAT'S IN OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN THIS EVENING.

THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK, BUT THEY USED WHAT THEY LEARNED FROM DR. ONSONGO IN OCTOBER.

THEN WHAT THEY LEARNED ABOUT OUR SCORECARD AND WHAT OUR DEPARTMENT SHOULD BE WORKING TOWARDS, BECAUSE ALL OF THOSE SYSTEMS ALIGN.

EVERYTHING IS WORKING TOGETHER.

THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK.

SOME OF THE FEEDBACK WAS JUST EDITS.

"HEY, PUT A COMMA HERE, PUT A QUESTION MARK THERE," BUT OTHERS WERE THINGS THAT WERE REALLY IMPORTANT.

LAST MONTH WHEN MS. JACKSON PRESENTED, I TALKED ABOUT THE GRAY AREA ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE RIGHT, THAT'S OUR CAMPUS, AND HOW THEY ALIGN THEIR PIECES.

BUT WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN, WE'RE LOOKING AT THAT DARK BLUE AND THEN THE DEPARTMENTS' PLANNING, HOW THEY PLAN, WE'RE LOOKING AT THE RED.

AGAIN, WHEN DEPARTMENTS ARE SETTING THEIR GOALS, THEY'RE ALIGNING THEM TO OUR DISTRICT MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES.

IT COULD BE ALIGNED TO OUR GUIDING STATEMENTS, OR IT COULD BE ALIGNED TO OUR VALUES DEPENDING ON WHAT THAT DEPARTMENT DOES AND HOW THEY FUNCTION.

BEING SURE THAT THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY OF HOW THEY'RE GOING TO REPORT THOSE THINGS THAT'S WHY WE HAVE A DISTRICT DASHBOARD THAT TELLS US WHEN WE'RE GOING TO PRESENT ON WHAT INFORMATION, AND THEN THAT SCORECARD HOLDS US ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT WE SAID WE WERE GOING TO DO, AND THEN HOW WE'RE TRACKING ON MEETING THAT GOAL OVER THE FIVE YEARS.

EXPENDITURES AND OTHER USES EXCEEDED REVENUES AND OTHER SOURCES BY 5.8 MILLION WITH A FUND BALANCE DECREASING BY THAT AMOUNT.

THE FUND BALANCE ENDED THE YEAR, JUNE 30TH, 2025, AT 115.3 MILLION, NON-SPENDABLE BEING AT 2.4 MILLION AND THE REST IN UNASSIGNED 112.9 MILLION.

THAT UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE, KEEP IN MIND, IT'S NOT JUST FREE MONEY THAT'S CASH AVAILABLE TO SPEND.

IT'S REALLY WHAT HELPS COVER THESE RECENT MONTHS AS WE'RE WAITING ON THAT PROPERTY OR LAG AND PROPERTY TAX COLLECTIONS DUE TO THE TIMING ON THEIR END.

WE HAD DAVID RIGHT, WE HAVE OUR COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT WITH MISS JOE.

WE HAVE SEVERAL OTHER DEPARTMENTS THAT ARE REPRESENTED TO HELP US THROUGH THAT PROCESS.

ONCE WE GET ALL THESE PEOPLE IN THE SAME ROOM, WE HAVE TO ESTABLISH PRIORITIES.

A LOT OF THE THINGS THAT YOU CAN IMAGINE WHEN WE GO THROUGH BUILDING A CALENDAR, OF COURSE, WE'RE LOOKING AT THE START DAY OF SCHOOL.

PART OF TEXAS LAW REQUIRES US TO START SCHOOL THE FOURTH MONDAY IN AUGUST.

IF YOU THINK BACK, WHEN IS THE LAST TIME WE EVER STARTED SCHOOL ON A FOURTH MONDAY IN AUGUST? EVERYONE AT LEAST AROUND US AND MOSTLY IN TEXAS AS WELL HAS A DISTRICT OF INNOVATION AND ONE OF THOSE ALLOWS US TO START SCHOOL EARLIER THAN THAT.

WE LIKE TO DO THAT OUR COMMUNITY IS USED TO THAT.

WE TRY TO, AGAIN, ALIGN WITH THAT COLLEGE WORLD FOR OUR DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS.

WE LOOK AT WHERE WE'RE GOING TO START SCHOOL AND WE LIKE TO STAY IN THAT SAME AREA THAT WE HAVE FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS.

THIS YEAR'S CALENDAR HAD SOME DIFFERENCES IN THAT START DATE, ALL WITHIN A REASONABLE RANGE, BUT THAT IS DEFINITELY A PRIORITY THAT WE NEED TO ESTABLISH.

MOVING IN AND THINKING THROUGH THE YEAR, WE JUST CAME BACK FROM THANKSGIVING BREAK.

IF YOU'VE BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH, YOU MIGHT REMEMBER A TIME WHEN WE DID NOT HAVE AN ENTIRE WEEK OFF FOR THANKSGIVING BREAK.

I REMEMBER TEACHING AND ALL WE HAD WAS WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

WE HEARD FROM OUR COMMUNITY, WE HEARD FROM OUR STAFF.

OTHER DISTRICTS BEGAN TO GIVE THAT WHOLE WEEK, AND WE MADE THAT A PRIORITY THAT WE WOULD PRIORITIZE OUR FAMILIES AND OUR FAMILY TIME, BUT STILL ENSURE THAT WE COULD GET ALL OF OUR EDUCATION TIME AND REQUIREMENTS IN AS WELL.

WE'VE PRIORITIZED CONTINUING TO ALLOW OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES AND OUR STAFF TO HAVE A WEEK AT THANKSGIVING.

WHEN WE'RE ESTABLISHING PRIORITIES, IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO US THAT WE HAVE BOTH WORK DAY TIME FOR OUR TEACHERS, BUT ALSO THE MEANINGFUL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT OUR TEACHERS NEED TO GROW AND LEARN, SO THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE GROWING AND LEARNING.

WE WORK HARD TO BALANCE THAT.

WE KNOW TEACHERS NEED TIME IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. THEY'RE TAKING THINGS HOME.

THEY'RE WORKING HARDER THAN THEY'VE EVER HAD TO WORK BEFORE.

WE WANT TO VALUE THAT WHILE ALSO BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE THOSE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE CAN GIVE THEM.

WE LOOK AT TIME AND PLACES ON THE CALENDAR WHERE THAT CAN FIT NATURALLY.

WE LOVE A FOUR DAY WEEKEND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.

SOME DISTRICTS HAVE MOVED TO FOUR DAY WEEKENDS EVERY WEEKEND.

DO YOU REMEMBER TIMES WHEN OUR FIRST SEMESTER DIDN'T END UNTIL MID JANUARY? WE WOULD BE COMING BACK AFTER THE WINTER BREAK AND THEN TRYING TO STUDY FOR THOSE FINALS.

IT WAS SO TOUGH ON KIDS.

WE REALLY TRIED TO BALANCE THE NUMBER OF DAYS IN OUR FIRST SEMESTER, OUR SECOND SEMESTER, WHICH YOU CAN IMAGINE RESTRICTS THAT STARTING AND ENDING DATE, SO THAT WE CAN GET A FULL FIRST SEMESTER IN IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR AND THEN A FULL SECOND SEMESTER IN AFTER THE WINTER BREAK.

THERE IS A LAW THAT WE HAVE TO HAVE TWO PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES A YEAR NOW, THAT WAS PART OF THE LAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

WE'VE ALWAYS BUILT INTO OUR CALENDAR ONE DAY IN THE FALL, BUT WE'RE NOT BUILDING IN A SPECIFIC DAY IN THE SPRING.

WE HAD THEM LOOK AT THE GRAPHS, LOOK AT THE CALENDARS, LOOK AT ALL THE INFORMATION, TALK AMONG THEIR GROUPS, GIVE US FEEDBACK, AND THEN WE WERE ABLE TO DECIPHER AND MANAGE ALL THAT FEEDBACK AND THEN COME BACK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER MEETING WITH NEW DRAFTS THAT REFLECTED THE FEEDBACK FROM ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND FROM OUR MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE.

AFTER THE SECOND DRAFT, THE COMMITTEE, WE LOOKED AT IT A LITTLE BIT CLOSER, AND WE CAME TO SOME CONSENSUS ON WHICH CALENDARS SEEM TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF THE BEST IN MANSFIELD ISD.

WE NARROWED IT DOWN, MADE ONE LAST SET OF DRAFTS, AND THEN WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE TWO DRAFTS TO SEVERAL COMMUNITY GROUPS.

DR. SPENCER JUST SPOKE WITH YOU ABOUT THE DEIC.

WE WERE ABLE TO JOIN THAT COMMITTEE, SHARE THE CALENDARS WITH THAT GROUP, GET FEEDBACK AGAIN.

WE WERE ABLE TO SHARE WITH OUR STUDENT GROUP, OUR SUPER SAC, STUDENTS.

THEY ALWAYS HAVE GREAT FEEDBACK, THOUGH THEY SUGGESTED SEVERAL SPRING BREAKS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, BUT WE TRY TO KEEP THEM IN CHECK.

THEY'RE A REALLY GOOD GROUP TO GET FEEDBACK FROM.

WE TOOK IT TO OUR COURSE CABINET MEMBERS.

WE TOOK IT TO STAFF IN MANSFIELD ISD, OUR DEIC LEADERSHIP TEAM TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN PROVIDE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WHEN IT'S THERE.

AFTER ALL THE DRAFTS AND AFTER ALL OF THE FEEDBACK, WE WERE ABLE TO THEN TAKE IT TO OUR COMMUNITY.

YOU MAY REMEMBER SEEING SOME COMMUNICATION THAT MISS JOE AND HER TEAM HAD SENT OUT REGARDING TAKING A CALENDAR SURVEY.

IN THIS CALENDAR SURVEY, THERE WERE TWO DRAFTS THAT WE HAD OVER 1,600 RESPONDENTS THAT THEY COULD VOTE ON WHICH ONES THEY FELT MAY SUIT OUR NEEDS THE BEST IN MANSFIELD ISD.

I WANT TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT OF THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CALENDAR A AND CALENDAR B.

THE FIRST THING YOU'LL NOTICE IS THERE WAS A DIFFERENT START DATE.

TRADITIONALLY, WE'VE STARTED MANSFIELD ISD ON A WEDNESDAY.

AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, STARTING ON A MONDAY WITH KINDERGARTNERS, THEY'RE ASLEEP IN THE HALL BY WEDNESDAY, MAKING SURE THAT WE CAN WAKE THEM UP TO GET IN THE CAR WHEN THEIR PARENTS ARE PICKING THEM UP OR ONTO THE BUS.

WE'VE TRIED TO START IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

OUR SECOND CALENDAR OPTION ACTUALLY HAD A STARTING ON A TUESDAY, WHICH FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOLS WAS IDEAL.

THEY COULD HAVE AN AB/AB.

THAT WAS A POSITIVE ATTRACTION FOR THAT ONE.

ONE CALENDAR HAD A WORK DAY BUILT IN OCTOBER AND ONE CALENDAR DIDN'T.

THAT WORK DAY WAS INSTEAD SWAPPED INTO FEBRUARY.

THEN IN FEBRUARY, ONE OF OUR CALENDARS HAD THE FABULOUS FOUR DAY WEEKEND WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF, WHEREAS THE OTHER CALENDAR HAD BASICALLY A THREE DAY WEEKEND FOR OUR STAFF WITH ONE HOLIDAY WORK DAY ON THE OTHER ONE, SO THE KIDDOS STILL HAD FOUR DAYS.

THOSE ARE SOME OF THE BIG DIFFERENCES.

ALL OF OUR CALENDARS DID HAVE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME WINTER BREAK, THANKSGIVING BREAK, AND SPRING BREAK.

AGAIN, WE WERE RESTRICTED ON THOSE.

WE WANT TO ALIGN WITH OUR COLLEGE PARTNERS, AND THANKSGIVING IS THANKSGIVING.

WE ALWAYS KNOW WHEN THAT WILL BE.

UPON WORKING THROUGH THESE CALENDARS, GETTING ALL OF THAT FEEDBACK, WE GOT OUR RESULTS BACK FROM THE SURVEY, AND 58% OF OUR RESPONDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY FELT THAT CALENDAR A SERVED OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF, THE BEST IN MANSFIELD, WHILE 42% WITH CALENDAR B, VERY CLOSE RESULTS.
