SOMETHING I WANT TO SAY, AS THEY START HEADING DOWN HERE, I'M GOING TO INVITE YOU ALL DOWN HERE, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT THIS TEAM, AND THEY'RE NOT JUST SMART PEOPLE, THEY ARE FAMILY.

WHEN I SAY THAT, THEY'VE GONE THROUGH A LOT OF THIS LAST YEAR, AND THEY PICK UP THE SLACKS FOR EACH OTHER.

THEY'RE STRONGER TOGETHER, AND I THINK THEY EXEMPLIFY THAT.

THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM SUCH A GREAT TEAM.

THE MANSFIELD ISD BUSINESS SERVICES DIVISION IS RECOGNIZED BOTH AT THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AND FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY.

OUR TEAM RECENTLY RECEIVED STATE AND NATIONAL RECOGNITIONS, COMMENDING OUTSTANDING WORK.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO LEAVE, NOW'S THE TIME TO DO IT.

IN THE MEANTIME, WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM SEVEN,

[7. Instructional Focus]

OUR INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS, DR. CANTU.

>> YES, I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE DR. TAMARA LIDDELL TO COME FORWARD TO GIVE THIS PRESENTATION.

I'M REALLY EXCITED FOR YOU GUYS TO HEAR THIS INFORMATION BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANYTHING MORE IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW THAN PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, AND SHE HAS DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB.

>> THANK YOU, DR. CANTU.

WELL, GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WILSON, DR. CANTU, AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

IT IS MY PLEASURE TO BE HERE TONIGHT TO SHARE THE STORY OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. OUR TEAM.

OUR TEAM IS SMALL,

[00:20:01]

BUT OUR TEAM IS MIGHTY.

I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR, SANDRA PENA, AND CAROL NICHOLS, OUR DEPARTMENT SECRETARY.

THIS YEAR PROGRAMMING FOR PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, WE STARTED THE YEAR LOOKING AT WHAT DIRECTION THAT WE'RE GOING TO GO IN THIS YEAR.

WE DECIDED, OF COURSE, TO LOOK AT MANSFIELD ISD CORE VALUES.

THAT'S THE CENTER OF WHO WE ARE.

WE FOCUS ON FOUR OF THE SIX CORE VALUES.

THIS IS YEAR TWO FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT AND SO AS WE STARTED, WE STARTED WITH COMMUNICATION BECAUSE THAT'S THE CENTER OF SHARING OUR STORY.

WE STARTED WITH LOCAL, THE DISTRICT LEVEL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEVEL, WHICH I'LL SHARE WITH YOU MORE TONIGHT.

COMMUNICATION, WE MET OUR STAKEHOLDERS AT THE BACK TO SCHOOL BASH, OUR FAMILIES, OUR STUDENTS, AND THE STAFF OF MANSFIELD ISD.

AS WE MET THEM AT THE BACK TO SCHOOL BASH, WE FOUND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF OUR DIVISION.

WE SAID WE'RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT.

WE'RE GOING TO CONNECT AND WE'RE GOING TO GO OUT TO EXACTLY WHERE PARENTS ARE.

WHAT BETTER PLACE TO BE IS GO OUT TO CAMPUSES.

WE WENT TO THE CAR RIDER LINE TO MEET PARENTS, TO GREET PARENTS, AND TO SHARE A PARENT TIP, AND OF COURSE, FOR PARENTS IN THE MORNING, A SNACK.

WE SHARED A FLYER.

WE INVITED THEM OUT.

WHEN THEY RECEIVED THE E-MAILS, THE CALLS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, THEY KNOW OUR NAME.

AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL, WE WENT OUT TO VISIT 12 OF THE 25 TITLE I SCHOOLS, AND YOU'LL SEE THE 12 SCHOOLS THAT'S LISTED HERE.

MAKE THAT CONNECTION.

WHEN WE INVITE THEM OUT, THEY KNOW WHO WE ARE.

THE NEXT VIDEO THAT YOU'LL SEE, THAT'S WHEN WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET TEACHERS IN THE CAR RIDER LINE.

AGAIN, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, AS WE'RE GETTING CONNECTED AND MEETING PEOPLE AND SHARING WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER, WE WENT OUT AND MET THESE AMAZING TEACHERS.

>> COME TO PARENT UNIVERSITY.

>> YES, COME TO PARENT UNIVERSITY, AND I'M SURE YOU'VE HEARD THAT MANY TIMES THIS YEAR.

THEY'RE SHARING WITH THEIR FAMILIES.

WE WERE IN THE CAR LINE WITH THEM AND TELLING THEM OUR WHY AND HOW WE'RE SUPPORTING WHAT THEY'RE DOING ON CAMPUS.

AT THE LOCAL LEVEL TO FIND OUT WHAT DIRECTION THAT WE WERE GOING IN, WE WENT OUT.

WE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT IS GRAND PRAIRIE DOING.

WHAT IS ARLINGTON DOING? WHAT IS OTHER SURROUNDING DISTRICTS DOING WITH PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT? THEY WERE ABLE TO POUR INTO US AND WE WERE ABLE TO ALSO SHARE THE VISION FOR THIS YEAR.

WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE OUR STORY ALSO AT THE STATE LEVEL.

I PRESENTED IN SAN ANTONIO EARLIER THIS MONTH AT THE CONFERENCE FOR FEDERAL PROGRAMS DIRECTORS.

IT WAS OVER 800 PARTICIPANTS AT THIS CONFERENCE, AND WE SHARED ABOUT THE SYSTEMS THAT WE HAVE IN PLACE, HOW WE'RE TARGETING DISTRICTS THAT SIMILAR TO MANSFIELD, HOW WE'RE MEETING THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF PARENTS IN THE DISTRICT.

FROM THAT PRESENTATION, MANY DISTRICTS WAS LIKE, MANSFIELD, COME TO US.

WE WANT WHAT YOU HAVE.

AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, THIS IS WHAT I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT, HARVARD UNIVERSITY.

WE ALL KNOW THE NAME, RIGHT? WE WENT FROM APPLYING TO BEING ACCEPTED ON THE WAITING LIST, BUT WE WERE ACCEPTED TO BE A PART OF THE SUMMER PROGRAMMING.

HARVARD HAS A FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM, AND OF COURSE, IT'S SHARING THE BEST PRACTICES AND HIGH-ALERT STRATEGIES THAT MAKE AN IMPACT.

THE NEXT CORE VALUE IS POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS.

OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS THREE THINGS, TO EMPOWER PARENTS, TO ENGAGE PARENTS, AND TO INFORM THEM.

SUMMER 2024, GREAT THINGS ARE COMING UP, AND SO WHAT BETTER WAY? NEW PARENTS ARE COMING TO MANSFIELD.

WE WANT TO CONNECT WITH THEM.

WE WANT THEM TO KNOW THAT MANSFIELD IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, AND TEACH.

WE'RE GOING TO BE THE FIRST FACE THAT THEY MEET.

THEN THE NEXT SLIDE I WILL SHARE WITH YOU OUR PLAN.

WE HAVE A FIVE-POINT PLAN.

WHEN A PARENT ENROLLS HER CHILD IN MANSFIELD ISD, WE'RE GOING TO CALL THEM AND SAY, WELCOME TO MANSFIELD.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOU? WE'RE GOING TO SHARE AN E-MAIL WITH THEM, OUR PROGRAMMING BECAUSE WE WANT TO MEET THEM FACE TO FACE.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE FOUND THIS YEAR IS THAT MOST PARENTS WANT TO KNOW,

[00:25:01]

TELL US ABOUT SKYWARD, TELL US ABOUT CANVAS.

AT THAT EVENT THAT WE DID EARLIER THIS YEAR, WE HAD OVER 100 PARENTS.

WE'RE LOOKING AT THE DATA AND WE KNOW WHAT THEY NEED.

WE'RE GOING TO ALSO IDENTIFY HOW CAN YOU FIND THE CURRICULUM.

I HAVE A THIRD-GRADE STUDENT.

WHERE DO I FIND OUT WHAT'S BEING TAUGHT IN SCHOOL? WE'LL NAVIGATE AND LEAD THEM IN THAT DIRECTION.

LASTLY, A FOLLOW-UP E-MAIL.

IS ALL IS WELL? ARE YOU READY FOR SCHOOL? WHAT CAN WE DO? THAT'S SPECIFICALLY IMPORTANT FOR ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES BECAUSE THEY'RE CLOSED OVER THE SUMMER JUST FOR A FEW WEEKS, BUT WE'RE THERE TO BRIDGE THAT GAP.

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS I'M EXCITED ABOUT.

I MIGHT SAY EVERYTHING HERE IN THE PRESENTATION.

BUT ON THURSDAY, GUESS WHERE WE'RE GOING? WE'RE TAKING PARENTS TO COLLEGE.

WE'RE TAKING PARENTS OF FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENTS TO UNT.

YOU MAY SAY, WHY ARE YOU TAKING THE PARENTS WITHOUT THE STUDENTS? WELL, WE'RE DOING THAT PURPOSEFULLY.

WE WANT TO HELP THEM NAVIGATE AND UNDERSTAND WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID.

WHAT DOES A DORM ROOM LOOK LIKE? WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE? WE ALSO HAVE THEM DURING LUNCHTIME EATING IN THE STUDENT CAFETERIA, SEEING ALL THAT GOES ON ON A UNIVERSITY CAMPUS.

WE HAVE 50 STUDENTS, UNT SAID, YOU CAN BRING UP TO 50 AND WE HAVE 50 PARENTS REGISTERED.

WE'RE GOING ON THURSDAY MORNING.

THE GOAL TO EMPOWER, WE OFFERED A WORKSHOP, A PARENT PANEL DISCUSSION THIS YEAR, AND WE HAD A DISCUSSION ABOUT BALANCING ALL THE THINGS THAT COME WITH PARENTING, HOMEWORK, OTHER NEEDS BECAUSE WE KNOW PARENTS JUST DON'T WORK AND TAKE CARE OF KIDS, JUST TO BALANCE OF IT ALL.

YOU'LL SEE HERE OUR VERY OWN JOSH ROBERTS ON THE PANEL.

WE HAD DR. SHARIZ WALLY, A PHYSICIAN.

WE HAD A THERAPIST, QARIA QUINO, OUR SALES COORDINATOR FOR THE DISTRICT, AND A PARENT, DR. JDALE CRUTCHFIELD.

NEXT, THE GOAL TO EMPOWER PARENTS.

WE OFFERED WORKSHOPS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY AND AFTER THE SCHOOL DAY.

THIS WAS ONE CALLED VISION FOR HEALTHY PARENT AND STUDENT COMMUNICATION.

YOU'LL SEE THE YOUNG MAN HERE IN THE RED SHIRT.

HE'S AT THE TABLE BUILDING A VISION BOARD FOR HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE IN OUR HOME.

THE CHILD SHARE WITH THE PARENT, THIS IS WHAT I NEED FROM YOU.

THE PARENT SHARE, THIS IS WHAT I ALSO NEED, SO THEY HAVE A VISUAL TO HELP BRIDGE THAT GAP BECAUSE WE KNOW IT JUST DOESN'T START AT ACADEMICS.

IT START AT THE COMMUNICATION THAT PARENT AND THE STUDENT HAS.

THE GOAL TO INFORM.

WE HAD MANY AMAZING DEPARTMENTS HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD THAT HELPED US TO SUPPORT PARENTS TO SHARE, THE DEPARTMENT OF STUDENT NUTRITION, CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION THAT CAME OUT AND SHARED IN MATH AND READING.

WHERE DO YOU FIND THE CURRICULUM? IF YOU'RE GOING TO WORK WITH YOUR CHILD AT HOME, WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING DURING THAT TIME? ASSESSMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY SHARED ABOUT STAR.

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF STAR? WHEN DO THE KIDS TAKE STAR? GREAT TIPS.

TECHNOLOGY.

DR. SHANTE CALWIN, OUR CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER.

SHE WAS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH US AND SPOKE ABOUT CYBERSECURITY AND MANY THINGS TO HELP FAMILIES AND PARENTS STAY CONNECTED.

I HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE STUDENT NUTRITION.

THIS WAS A WELL-ATTENDED EVENT WHERE THEY CAME OUT AND JUST SHOWED, WHAT ARE SOME HEALTHY SNACKS THAT PARENTS CAN FIX WHEN THEY GET HOME OR PREPARE FOR THEIR STUDENT.

WE DID ANOTHER WORKSHOP FOR MATH, WHERE MS. PENA AND I, WE MODELED A CARD GAME.

OF COURSE, WE WANT KIDS WORKING ON MATH.

WE DO. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT'S ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP AND THE COMMUNICATION.

WE SHOWED THEM REALLY FUN CARD GAMES, AND I HAVE TO HIGHLIGHT, A MOM E-MAILED US LATER THAT EVENING AND SHE SAID, I DIDN'T THINK THIS CARD GAME WAS GOING TO WORK AND MY CHILD WAS GOING TO GO FOR IT, BUT GUESS WHAT? SHE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT.

WE KNOW WE WANT TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS ALSO WHILE WE'RE ALSO ENCOURAGING THEM TO BE GREAT STUDENTS AND PARENTS.

THIS IS OUR VERY OWN DR. KIMBERLEY CANTU, OUR AMAZING SUPERINTENDENT.

SHE CAME TO OUR PARENT PANEL DISCUSSION.

I WISH YOU COULD HAVE SEEN THAT SHE HAD THE PARENTS CAPTIVATED.

SHE SHARED REAL TIPS ABOUT BALANCING, BEING A MOM, BEING A WIFE, AND ALL THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO DO.

[00:30:01]

I THINK IT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO SEE, SHE'S JUST LIKE US.

THANK YOU, DR. CANTU.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, AND ALL THAT WE DO AND IT'S THE GREAT THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING, BUT WE ALSO KNOW WE SHOULD HAVE A LIGHT AND A LENS ON, IS THIS WORKING? ARE WE MEASURING WHAT WE'RE DOING? THE ANSWER IS YES.

WE'RE LOOKING AT THE IMPACT.

WE'RE LOOKING AT ATTENDANCE FOR EVENTS.

THE SURVEYS. EVERY SINGLE EVENT WE HAVE A SURVEY TO MEASURE AND GET FEEDBACK FROM OUR STAKEHOLDERS.

ALSO LOOKING AT THAT FEEDBACK, WHAT SHOULD WE ADJUST? THE PARENTS NEEDS ASSESSMENT.

WE SENT THAT OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR BECAUSE WE'RE NOT PLANNING PROGRAMMING JUST FOR WHAT WE WANT TO SEE.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT MANSFIELD ISD PARENTS HAVE A CHOICE AND THEY GIVE US FEEDBACK ON WHAT THEY NEED.

>> HERE'S OUR FALL PROGRAMMING AND SPRING PROGRAMMING.

FIVE WORKSHOPS FOR EACH SEMESTER, AND WE HAVE A SIDE WHERE IT'S A PARENTING SERIES, AND THEN WE FOCUS ON ACADEMICS.

FIRM BELIEVER AND WE HAVE TO BALANCE THE TWO.

SINCE WE LOOK AT IMPACT, WE OFFER 10 PARENT WORKSHOPS THIS YEAR.

TWO CAPACITY-BUILDING INITIATIVES, WHICH IS OUR UNT COLLEGE TOUR, AND I ALSO SHARE WITH YOU THIS SUMMER, WE HAVE A PARENT PODCAST THAT'S COMING UP AND FIVE ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOPS.

WE'RE NOT JUST BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF PARENTS, WE'RE NOT JUST BUILDING A CAPACITY OF STUDENTS.

WE ALSO HAVE WORKED TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF OUR PRINCIPALS TOO.

WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO POUR INTO THEM DURING A SESSION IN SEPTEMBER AND SPEAK ABOUT WHEN WE ENGAGE PARENTS ON OUR CAMPUS, ARE WE TARGETING TO MAKE SURE WHEN THEY LEAVE, THEY HAVE TOOLS IN PLACE TO HELP THEM TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THEIR CHILD AT HOME? MEASURING THE IMPACT, WHAT DO WE DO? HOW DO WE MEASURE? SURVEYS, RETRACT ATTENDANCE FOR EACH CAMPUS, THE NUMBER THAT ATTENDED, STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK, AND REQUESTS FOR COLLABORATIONS, WHICH NOW WE HAVE DEPARTMENTS COMING TO US, CAN WE BE ON YOUR AGENDA, AND ATTENDANCE.

YOU CAN SEE THE ATTENDANCE, WE WERE UPWARD OF 130.

PARENTS ATTENDED AND WE HAD 24.

I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THE 24 BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME WORKSHOPS THAT IS INTENTIONAL.

WE WANTED SMALL, WE WANTED INTIMATE AND WE WANT PARENTS TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY.

LET'S JUST TALK.

THE NEXT VIDEO HERE, YOU'LL SEE A VIDEO OF A HIGHLY ATTENDED EVENT, AND FOR ME, IT WAS JUST SEEING ALL OF THE AMAZING PARENTS IN THE AUDIENCE.

FEEDBACK. LOOKING AT THAT VIDEO, THE NUMBER OF PARENTS, THIS IS YEAR 2 TO HAVE ANY AUDIENCE AND A PARENT FEEDBACK.

A PARENT SAID THIS IS EVERYTHING I DID KNOW I NEEDED.

WHAT A BLESSING NEEDED THIS.

HAPPY THAT I AM NOT ALONE.

WE LOOK AT EVENTS AND HAVING 130, WE ALSO VALUE 24 BECAUSE WHEN YOU HAVE 24 IN THE AUDIENCE, THOSE ARE THE COMMENTS YOU GET.

WE CAN ACTUALLY TALK AND HAVE REAL CONVERSATIONS.

STUDENTS FIRST, IT'S AT THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING WE DO.

IT'S OUR WHY, IT'S HOW WE NAVIGATE AND IT'S WHY WE CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD.

THESE ARE JUST PICTURES THAT HIGHLIGHT OUR STUDENTS.

THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, I TELL YOU WE CAN BE SITTING BESIDE SOMEONE AND WE HEAR THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON WHERE PARENTS ARE CONNECTED AND WE'RE LIKE, CAN WE COME? THAT'S HOW WE FOUND OURSELVES AT [INAUDIBLE] FOR GRANDPARENTS DAY JUST TO BE IN THE MIDST.

ALSO, YOU'LL SEE HERE, OF COURSE, THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH.

LOOKING AHEAD, WHERE ARE WE GOING? WERE WE MOVING FORWARD TO FOR SUMMER AND FALL? I TOLD YOU BEFORE WE'LL HAVE A PODCAST AND BECAUSE WE KNOW THE PARENT PANEL DISCUSSION WAS HIT, WE'RE JUST GOING TO TALK ABOUT BALANCE AND PARENTING.

WE'RE GOING TO HAVE MANSFIELD ISD PARENTS AS A PART OF THE PODCAST.

THIS SUMMER, DURING THE MANSFIELD ISD SUMMER CONFERENCE.

I'M SURE YOU'VE HEARD OF CARL SEWELL, THE OWNER OF THE SEWELL DEALERSHIP,

[00:35:01]

AND THEY'VE KNOWN FOR CUSTOMERS FIRST.

THEY WANT TO RETAIN LIFELONG CUSTOMERS, AND THAT'S WHAT WE WANT TO DO IN MANSFIELD.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR CUSTOMERS, OUR PARENTS, NOT ONLY THEIR CUSTOMERS, BUT THEY ARE RETURNING CUSTOMERS.

THEY HAVE A 10TH GRADER, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY COME BACK AND CIRCLE BACK AND WE GET TO SERVE ALL PARTS OF THE FAMILY.

THAT'S WHAT WE'LL PRESENT THIS SUMMER CONFERENCE TO OUR PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS.

LIKE AND SHARE, WE'RE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, TWITTER, AND FACEBOOK.

WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE?

>> GREAT. TRUSTEES, I'LL START TO MY RIGHT. MISS ANDERSON.

>> I ACTUALLY JUST WANTED TO SAY, THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS DEPARTMENT, HOW IT'S GROWN.

WHEN WE TALK ABOUT CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, YOU HAVE JUST MADE ONE STRIVE AFTER ANOTHER.

JUST LOOKING AT ALL THESE EVENTS THAT YOU PUT ON FROM WORKSHOPS TO BUILDING INITIATIVES TO ENGAGEMENT, WORKSHOPS TO NOW PODCASTS.

I REALLY FEEL LIKE YOU'RE GOING IN DEPTH.

WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT THIS DECK ALMOST A WEEK AGO, I WAS LIKE, CARL SEWELL I'VE OWNED A SEWELL VEHICLE TWO IN THE LAST 10 YEARS AND THEY DO AN IMPECCABLE JOB.

I NOTICED IT THAT YOU ALL WERE DOING SURVEYS AND REALLY ASKING FOR THAT ENGAGEMENT BACK, NOT ONLY FROM THE PARENTS BUT FROM OTHER EDUCATORS AND FROM THE CHILDREN TO MAKE IT EVEN MORE IN-DEPTH.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU AND YOUR TEAM.

EVEN THOUGH IT'S SMALL, IT'S MIGHTY. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> THANK YOU. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE ON THE SAME? MISS FARRAR.

>> I JUST WANT TO ECHO WHAT MISS ANDERSON SAID.

YOU GUYS ARE BEING SO INTENTIONAL ABOUT THE OFFERINGS THAT YOU'RE GIVING OUR PARENTS.

IT REMINDS ME OF HOW WE WANT ALL OF OUR STUDENTS TO BE ENGAGED IN SOMETHING, AND SO WE'RE MODELING THAT FOR THE PARENTS.

THANK YOU FOR BEING INTENTIONAL.

YOU GUYS DO A GREAT JOB OF COMMUNICATING.

I GET COMMUNICATIONS FROM MY KID'S SCHOOL OFTEN.

I THINK THERE MIGHT EVEN BE A SURVEY SITTING IN THERE IN MY INBOX. THANK YOU.

THESE OFFERINGS, I MEAN, SOME OF THEM LIKE, MAN, THAT LOOKS AWESOME.

I WISH I WOULD JUST SIGNED UP FOR THAT.

GOOD JOB, CONTINUE TO DO THAT.

I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR EFFORT.

>> THANK YOU. DOCTOR REED.

>> YES, THANK YOU. DOCTOR LIDDELL, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT PRESENTATION.

AS A PARENT IN THE DISTRICT, I'VE ATTENDED SEVERAL OF YOUR PRESENTATIONS, AND YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE AMAZING.

I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE USING DIVERSE MODES OF COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION.

IF WE'RE NOT THERE, THEN SOMETIME WE CAN ZOOM ON IN. I LOVE THAT.

ALSO, I WANTED TO SAY, YOU ALL ARE STRATEGIC BY MEETING THE TEACHERS, THE PARENTS, AND THE STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE.

YOU WENT TO GET THEM, YOU WENT TO INFORM THEM.

YOU WENT TO THEM TO ENGAGE THEM SO THAT THEY WOULD BE ENGAGED IN WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO.

THAT'S EXCEPTIONAL BECAUSE THAT MEANS YOU'RE PUTTING FORTH AN EFFORT TO MEET THEM SO THAT THEY WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE INFORMED.

LASTLY, I WANTED TO MENTION, I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE HAS SEEN, BUT I HAVE SHARED SOME OF THE STAR INFORMATION ON MY OWN SOCIAL MEDIA BECAUSE IT WAS SO INSIGHTFUL WHEN I ATTENDED THAT PARTICULAR PRESENTATION.

JUST IN CASE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR STAR ASSISTANCE OR INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT YOUR KIDDO SHOULD DO THE NIGHT BEFORE THE DAY OFF, DOCTOR LIDDELL AND HER TEAM HAVE THAT INFORMATION.

I DON'T WANT TO SAY CONTACT THEM BUT CONTACT THEM.

THEY WOULD BE CERTAIN TO GET BACK WITH YOU.

I WANTED TO REPLAY IT, SO EVERYONE WOULD HAVE IT AT THE OPPORTUNE TIME.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM.

I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH.

>> THANK YOU.

>> WELL, IT'S HARD NOT TO CALL YOU BY YOUR FIRST NAME, DOCTOR LIDDELL.

BUT WE'VE BEEN FRIENDS FOR SOME TIME, AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT NOW THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING, BECAUSE WHEN SHE GOT THIS POSITION, I THINK IT WAS MISS FARRAR THAT SAID, WOW, SHE MUST BE REALLY GOOD BECAUSE YOU'RE SUPER EXCITED.

I SAID YES, SHE IS.

I KNEW THAT YOU WERE GOING TO TAKE THIS TOO.

GREAT HEIGHTS AND YOU'RE STILL BUILDING ON IT AND STILL ACCOMPLISHING.

WHAT I LOVE THE MOST WAS WHAT YOU REFERRED TO WITH DOCTOR CANTU'S PRESENTATION TO THE PARENTS, AS WELL AS ONE OF THE FEEDBACK LINES WAS EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW THEY'RE NOT ALONE AND SOMETHING.

BECAUSE I REMEMBER BEING THE FIRST-TIME MOM IN THIS IS GREAT DISTRICT, AND IT CAN BE OVERWHELMING.

YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE MISSING EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO BE DOING AND YOU DON'T KNOW UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE.

BY THAT THIRD KID, I HAD A PATTERN.

BUT ANYWAY, WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS AND ALL THE STUFF THAT YOU'RE DOING FOR OUR DISTRICT AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.

>> YES, THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> IT'S OUR PLEASURE.

>> WE WILL MOVE TO ITEM 8,

[8. Presentation]

OUR PRESENTATIONS. DOCTOR CANTU.

>> YES, I WOULD LIKE TO ASK RITA DENTON TO COME FORWARD, OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT NUTRITION, AND JUST GIVE US AN OVERVIEW IN HER SYSTEMS REPORT.

[00:40:01]

GOOD EVENING. DR CANTU, PRESIDENT WILSON, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

I AM PLEASED TO DELIVER THE SYSTEMS REPORT FOR THE STUDENT NUTRITION DEPARTMENT THIS EVENING.

YOU HAVE THE FULL REPORT IN YOUR BOARD DOCUMENTS, AND WE'LL HIT ON SOME HIGHLIGHTS TONIGHT.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, OUR MISSION IN THE DEPARTMENT IS TO INSPIRE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES.

WE STRIVE TO TEACH KIDS HOW TO BUILD BALANCED PLATES AND THAT FOOD IS FUEL.

I LOVE WALKING INTO WALK-IN COOLERS AND FREEZERS.

THAT IS AN EXAMPLE RIGHT THERE OF TRULY A WALK-IN COOLER IN OUR DISTRICT, AND I'M JUST SO PROUD OF THAT.

OUR MISSION REALLY DOES ALIGN WITH THE DISTRICT'S GUIDING STATEMENTS THAT WE WILL GRADUATE STUDENTS, LIFE, COLLEGE, AND CAREER-READY.

WHEN WE TAKE REALLY GREAT CARE OF OUR BODIES, OUR PERFORMANCE, WE'RE ABLE TO PERFORM AT A GREATER POTENTIAL, AND THAT TRANSLATES FROM THE CLASSROOM INTO ADULTHOOD WHEN THEY DO BECOME PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS.

WE ARE GOVERNED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

THIS IS ALSO WHERE WE RECEIVE THE MAJORITY OF OUR REVENUE.

IT WAS FROM THE USDA IN THE FORM OF MEAL REIMBURSEMENTS.

WE RECEIVE A FLAT RATE FOR EACH STUDENT PLATE THAT WE DO SERVE THE STUDENTS, AND THEN WE DO ROUND OUT THAT REVENUE BY THE PAID PORTION OF STUDENT MEALS, A LA CARTE AND SNACKS, AND THAT THING.

WE ARE A SELF-SUFFICIENT FUND.

THAT MEANS THAT WE PAY FOR OUR OWN SALARIES, EQUIPMENT, REPAIRS, SUPPLY, FOOD, ALL THINGS, STUDENT NUTRITION.

WE ARE ALSO A NONPROFIT ENTITY.

THAT MEANS THAT WE DO HAVE REGULATIONS AROUND HOW MUCH WE CAN CARRY IN OUR FUND BALANCE.

WE CAN ONLY CARRY THREE MONTHS OF OPERATING EXPENSES.

MOST YEARS, WHEN IT'S FEASIBLE, WE ARE ALSO ABLE TO PAY WHAT'S CALLED INDIRECT COSTS BACK TO THE DISTRICT'S GENERAL FUND, AND THIS COVER SERVICES AND TASKS THAT ARE COMPLETED FOR US BY OTHER DEPARTMENTS IN THE DISTRICT.

THINGS LIKE THE ELECTRICITY THAT WE USE AND THE KITCHENS, THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT, HUMAN RESOURCES, PAYROLL SUPPORT, SAFETY, SECURITY, ETC.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR TEAM.

I SERVE AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AND I AM HONORED AND SO LUCKY TO SERVE WITH THESE LADIES HERE THAT ARE WITH ME TONIGHT.

WE HAVE JENNY PARHAM AS OVERSEES OPERATIONS.

WE HAVE NICOLE PANNELL OVERSEEING MENU AND MARKETING.

THEN WE HAVE SONDRA THOMAS OVERSEES THE BUSINESS AND COMPLIANCE PIECES OF OUR ORGANIZATION.

WHEN WE DIVE A LITTLE DEEPER, YOU CAN SEE THE THREE BRANCHES OF THE DEPARTMENT.

THE OPERATION SIDE IS TRULY WHAT WE REFER TO AS THE INS AND THE OUTS OF THE KITCHEN, PERSONNEL, ETC.

THE MENUS AND MARKETING IS EVERYTHING FROM DEVELOPING THE RECIPES TO WRITING THE MENUS, RIGHT TO THE TANGIBLE THINGS THAT GO HOME TO OUR FAMILIES.

THEN THE BUSINESS SECTOR IS TRULY THE BEHIND THE SCENES WORK AND THEY'RE THE GLUE THAT KEEPS US TOGETHER AND KEEPS US ORGANIZED.

SOME QUICK FACTS HERE.

I WON'T GO INTO ALL OF THESE, BUT JUST SOME GENERAL HIGHLIGHTS.

WE DO HAVE 285 STAFF MEMBERS ACROSS 46 KITCHENS.

WE OPERATE A $22.7 MILLION BUDGET.

WE ARE SERVING 22,000 LUNCH PLATES ON A DAILY BASIS, AND WE HAVE OVER 3,000 FACEBOOK FOLLOWERS. WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT.

IT'S A GREAT CHANNEL TO COMMUNICATE WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS, KEEP THEM UP TO DATE.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF THE FOOD PRODUCTION AND OUR SCHOOL MEALS.

SUPER PROUD OF WHERE WE ARE WITH OUR MENU.

RIGHT NOW AND WE JUST CONTINUE TO WORK AT THIS.

THIS WILL FOREVER BE A WORK IN PROGRESS.

IT IS OUR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.

VERY PROUD OF IT. WHEN WE GENERALLY GIVE YOU AN ANNUAL UPDATE OR REPORT ON OUR CADENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, WE'RE GENERALLY FOCUSING ON MEAL PARTICIPATION AND FOOD COST RATIO.

TONIGHT, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUN TO SHARE SOME OTHER GOALS THAT WE DO TRACK ON A MONTHLY BASIS.

FIRST, I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW YOU OUR GOAL 7.33 IS THE PERCENTAGE OF WORKER COMPENSATION CLAIMS PER TOTAL EMPLOYEE.

ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, WE WERE WELL OVER EIGHT PERCENT OF OUR STAFF EXPERIENCING MEDICAL CLAIMS THROUGH A SCHOOL YEAR.

OUR GOAL WAS TO REDUCE IT TO LESS THAN EIGHT PERCENT.

YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO SET THAT AT A MORE AGGRESSIVE RATE TO BE UNDER 6.5 PERCENT BASED ON THESE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS OF PERFORMANCE.

YOU CAN SEE WE ARE ON TRACK TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL.

WE START TO LOOK AT THE LEADING DATA AND ASK WHY AND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE, AND REALLY WHAT IT BOILS DOWN TO IS THAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN SUCH AN ENVIRONMENT OF WORKPLACE SAFETY.

WE PROVIDE A LOT OF PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR THE TEAM MEMBERS.

YOU CAN SEE SOME EXAMPLES HERE IN THE IMAGES, CUTTING GLOVES, RIGHT DOWN TO THE SHOES THAT WE WEAR ON OUR FEET, TO THE BURN SLEEVES THAT WE HAVE FOR OUR ARMS, RIGHT DOWN TO SIGNAGE TO COMMUNICATE SAFE HABITS.

[00:45:02]

REALLY, IT'S BEEN A TEAM EFFORT TO ACHIEVE THAT.

WE'RE VERY PROUD OF OUR STAFF FOR EMBRACING THAT CULTURE.

THEN THIS IS A BRAND NEW GOAL THAT I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU AND IT'S THE RETENTION RATE OF KITCHEN TEAM MEMBERS.

EVER SINCE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE EXPERIENCED SOME PRETTY TREMENDOUS TURNOVER WITHIN OUR KITCHEN TEAMS. WE WANTED TO HONE IN ON THAT AND WE KNOW THAT THE BEST WAY TO IMPROVE SOMETHING IS TO TRULY PUBLICLY TRACK IT.

THAT'S WHAT WE DID.

OUR BASELINE WAS ACTUALLY 70 PERCENT, AND SO WE WANTED TO IMPROVE THAT QUITE A BIT.

WE SET OUR GOAL AT 83 PERCENT.

THE WAY THAT WE SET THIS UP IS THAT ON DAY 1, IT'S 100 PERCENT OF STAFF MEMBERS RETAINED, ASSUMING NOBODY QUITS ON DAY 1, AND THEY DIDN'T.

THAT WAS GOOD, SO 100 PERCENT STARTS THAT TREND LINE.

THEN AS WE GO THROUGH THE MONTHS, WE BASED THE TREND LINE ON HISTORICAL TRENDING OF WHEN STAFF MEMBERS GENERALLY DO LEAVE IN MORE VOLUME TYPICALLY AROUND THE HOLIDAYS OR AT THE END OF THE YEAR, SO THE METRICS THEN MATCH THAT TREND LINE, WHICH IS THAT DOTTED LINE YOU SEE IN THE GRAPH.

THE METRICS ON THE FAR RIGHT CORRELATE WITH MARCH OF 24, AND WE CAN SEE THAT WE ARE ON TARGET FOR RETENTION.

EVEN IF WE DO DIP INTO THE YELLOW AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR HERE, WE KNOW THAT WE MADE SUCH GAINS IN THIS AREA AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON THIS.

AGAIN, WITH THE LEADING DATA, WE ASK HOW AND WHY.

ONE MAJOR REASON IS THE INVESTMENT WE'VE MADE INTO OUR TRAINING PROGRAM.

YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT THAT IN JUST A MOMENT.

WE ALSO HISTORICALLY HAVE DONE REALLY WELL WITH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR KITCHEN LEADERSHIP TEAMS, OUR KITCHEN MANAGERS.

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THEM AT A FOOD SHOW THIS YEAR AND WE DO LOTS OF DIFFERENT TEAM BONDING ACTIVITIES.

THEN, OF COURSE, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS A LOT OF EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND THEY ALWAYS ARE GREAT TO INVITE OUR STAFF AS WELL, AND THAT GOES A REALLY LONG WAY.

THEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS IS LOOKING AHEAD.

WE WANT TO SHARE SOME INNOVATIONS AND CURRENT PROJECTS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON, THINGS THAT ARE GOING TO BE LAUNCHING US INTO THE NEXT 5, 10 YEARS.

I'D LIKE TO ASK JENNY TO COME AND TALK ABOUT CHAMP U.

>> DOCTOR CANTU, PRESIDENT WILSON AND THE REST OF THE BOARD, CHAMP U IS OUR NEW HIRE TRAINING PROGRAM THAT WE JUST LAUNCHED THIS YEAR.

THIS PROGRAM WAS CREATED BASED ON FEEDBACK DIRECTLY FROM OUR MANAGERS.

WE SURVEYED THEM LAST YEAR AND ASKED, WHAT DO YOU NEED? WHAT DO YOU NEED IN KITCHEN STAFF? A MAJORITY OF THEM HAD SEVERAL FEEDBACKS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TIME TO TRAIN.

THEY WANT STAFF TO BE BETTER TRAINED BY THE TIME THAT THEY GET TO THE KITCHENS.

WE TOOK THAT FEEDBACK AND WE CREATED A COMMITTEE AND ALLOWED THEM TO GIVE DIRECT INPUT ON HOW TO CREATE THIS PROGRAM AND WHAT THAT WOULD LOOK LIKE.

OUR OPERATIONS TEAM CREATED THE TRAINING CONTENT THIS SUMMER AND WE HIRED A TRAINING MANAGER TO RUN AND OVERSEE THAT PROGRAM.

THE PROGRAM IS ABOUT A WEEK LONG.

IT STARTS OUT IN OUR OFFICE AND THE NEW HIRES WORK WITH THE TRAINING MANAGER.

THEY DO DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEARNING METHODS FROM PRESENTATION TO HANDS ON EXPERIENCES.

THEN THEY TRANSITION THAT TRAINING OUT TO DIFFERENT KITCHENS AND GET TO HAVE A FEEL OF DIFFERENT MANAGERS TO CONTINUE THAT TRAINING.

THEN WHEN THEY GET TO THEIR ASSIGNED CAMPUS, THE MANAGERS WILL CONTINUE THAT TRAINING FOR SEVERAL MORE WEEKS.

THEY GET A GREAT REVIEW OF ALL THE DIFFERENT AREAS THAT THEY SHOULD KNOW IN THEIR POSITION.

THIS REALLY IS IN ITS INFANCY STAGE AS FAR AS A TRAINING PROGRAM BECAUSE WE JUST LAUNCHED IT IN FEBRUARY.

WE'VE HAD 10 MEMBERS GO THROUGH THE PROGRAM SO FAR, AND RIGHT NOW, WE'RE COLLECTING DATA TO FIND OUT HOW EFFECTIVE IT IS, WHAT'S WORKING, WHAT'S NOT? WHAT DO WE NEED TO CHANGE TO IMPROVE IT AND TO MAKE IT THE MOST EFFICIENT TRAINING PROGRAM THAT WE CAN.

WITH THE GOAL IN MIND, THAT IT WILL HELP WITH EMPLOYEE RETENTION AS WELL AS KITCHEN MORALE AND JUST OVERALL OPERATIONS.

THEN NEXT, SANDRA IS GOING TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT ANGEL FUNDS.

>> GOOD EVENING. I AM SANDRA THOMAS, I'M ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE BUSINESS AND TRAINING.

I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF SHARING WITH YOU ABOUT OUR ANGEL FUND AND OTHER WAYS DONATIONS, HELP STUDENT NUTRITION, AND THE KIDS ACROSS OUR DISTRICT.

FAMILIES HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCHES AT ANY POINT DURING THE YEAR.

IT'S A GREAT BENEFIT TO THOSE FAMILIES WHEN THEY DO QUALIFY FOR THOSE FREE REDUCED MEALS.

IF THEIR STUDENT HAS GONE INTO A NEGATIVE BALANCE THOUGH BEFORE APPLYING, THAT NEGATIVE BALANCE STAYS WITH THE CHILD UNTIL THE FAMILY IS ABLE TO PAY IT OFF.

OUR FEDERAL GUIDELINES DO NOT ALLOW STUDENT NUTRITION TO JUST RELEASE THAT FUND AND SO SOMEBODY HAS TO PAY FOR THAT OVER TIME, EITHER THE FAMILY OR SOMEBODY ELSE.

WE HAVE BEEN SO FORTUNATE OVER THE PAST TO WORK WITH SOME DYNAMIC CORPORATE DONORS, FOR INSTANCE,

[00:50:02]

COMMON GROUND AND MANSFIELD METHODIST HOSPITAL IN THE PAST HAVE MADE VERY GENEROUS DONATIONS TO THE DISTRICT TO PAY OFF NEGATIVE STUDENT BALANCES UP TO THAT POINT IN TIME.

THAT'S REALLY QUITE A GIFT TO THE FAMILIES THAT HAD THAT LINGERING.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE PRIVATE DONORS THAT REACH OUT TO ME FROM TIME TO TIME.

A LOT OF TIMES NEAR THE CHRISTMAS WHEN PEOPLE ARE REALLY IN THE GIVING SPIRIT AND THEY WANT TO PAY OFF CURRENT NEGATIVE BALANCES AT A SPECIFIC CAMPUS.

MAYBE THE CAMPUS ARE CHILD ATTENDS, OR THEY HAVE AN AFFILIATION THROUGH A CORPORATION OR A CHURCH GROUP THAT THEY FEEL SOME AFFINITY TO THAT GROUP.

AGAIN, IT'S A GIFT TO THOSE FAMILIES ON THAT CAMPUS TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THAT BALANCE.

WE ALSO HAVE A DYNAMIC PROGRAM CALLED THE ANGEL FUND.

THIS IS AN ACCOUNT THAT ANYBODY CAN DONATE TO WITH ANY AMOUNT.

ONE OF THE BEST WAYS THAT WE GET FUNDS INTO THIS ACCOUNT OR WHENEVER STUDENTS LIKE OUR GRADUATING SENIORS ARE LEAVING THE DISTRICT, AND PARENTS GO ONLINE AND THEY HAVE THE OPTION TO TRANSFER FUNDS TO A STUDENT TO REQUEST A REFUND OR TO DONATE THOSE BACK TO THE STUDENTS.

WE ACCUMULATE THOSE FUNDS AND THAT ALLOWS US TO DISBURSE THOSE FUNDS ACROSS THE DISTRICT AS NEEDED WHEN FAMILIES ARE IN NEED OR WHENEVER WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP STUDENTS.

I AM FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET TO WORK WITH THOSE DONORS AND OUR MANAGERS AND OUR CAMPUS TEAMS TO MAKE THIS A SEAMLESS PROCESS TO BENEFIT AS MANY STUDENTS AS WE CAN ACROSS THE DISTRICT.

HENRY IS FINALLY GOING TO SHARE WITH US ABOUT ANOTHER SAVORY OPTION.

>> THANK YOU. THEN LAST PROJECT, I'D LIKE TO SHARE, WE DO HAVE SOME NEW FEDERAL NUTRITION REGULATIONS THAT ARE GOING TO BE COMING DOWN THE PIKE.

HERE IN THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS, WE WILL FIND OUT THAT FINAL RULE.

WE DO HAVE KNOWLEDGE BASE THAT THAT WILL INVOLVE REDUCING OUR ADDED SUGARS WITHIN OUR MENU PRIMARILY AT BREAKFAST TIME, AND SO THIS YEAR, WE HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT AND ENERGY INTO CREATING NEW RECIPES THAT ARE GOING TO SATISFY THESE NEW FEDERAL REGULATIONS, AT LEAST WHAT WE EXPECT TO COME DOWN THE PIKE THERE.

THAT WILL BE PROACTIVE.

SOME ITEMS THAT WE HAVE PLAYED WITH, THIS IMAGE UP HERE IS A CHICKEN, SCRAMBLED HASH, AND WE EVEN HAVE PLAYED WITH PUTTING THAT INTO A BURRITO FORMAT AS WELL FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WE ALSO MODELED EGG BITES AFTER THE POPULAR STARBUCKS EGG BITES.

WE ALSO PLAYED WITH BREAKFAST NACHOS, AND SO WE WERE PILOTING ALL THESE TYPES OF ITEMS WITH THE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS RIGHT NOW.

WESTERN MIDDLE SCHOOL WAS GRACIOUS TO BE A TEST MARKET FOR US.

WE ARE TESTING KIDS PALATABILITY WITH IT, THE POPULARITY OF THESE ITEMS ALONG WITH THE FEASIBILITY FOR OUR STAFF, TO MAKE SURE NOTHING IS TOO LABOR INTENSE OR UNREASONABLE TO DO IN THE MORNING TIME.

BUT WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE HIGH PROTEIN FACTOR OF THESE MEALS, AND WE JUST KNOW THAT GREAT THINGS ARE GOING TO COME OF IT, AND WHAT WE LOVE THE MOST IS TO BE PROACTIVE ON THOSE GUIDELINES COMING OUR WAY.

AT THIS TIME, WE WILL ENTERTAIN ANY QUESTIONS.

MY SLIDE FROZE, BUT THE NEXT ONE SAYS QUESTIONS.

>> WE'LL GO AHEAD AND GO FOR IT.

SOUNDING ON MY LEFT, IS THERE ANYTHING? MISS NEWSOME.

>> MISS DENTON, I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU.

YOU GUYS REALLY INSPIRE STUDENTS, YOU INSPIRE PARENTS AND THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, WITH WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE FOR A FOOD ADVENTURE ON MOST DAYS.

I'M ONE OF YOUR 3,000 FOLLOWERS AND HAVE BEEN FOR A LONG TIME, I'VE BEEN NUMBER 3, ACTUALLY.

BECAUSE I THINK IT'S SO INGENIOUS THAT YOU GUYS COME UP WITH THESE JUST, THEY'RE OBVIOUS THINGS THAT YOU SEE OUT IN THE WORLD LIKE WHY WOULDN'T WE BRING THOSE TO KIDS IF WE'RE EATING THAT OUT IN PUBLIC ARENAS AND WE EAT AT HOME? I LOVE THAT. I LOVE THAT IT'S A PLACE FOR US TO EXPLORE.

WE WANT KIDS TO EXPLORE WITH THEIR MINDS, BUT WE ARE LETTING KIDS EXPLORE WITH THEIR TASTE AND THEIR SMELL AND THEIR TOUCH, AND IT'S A WHOLE ANOTHER FACET TO LEARNING THAT I BELIEVE IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF WHAT WE BRING TOGETHER FOR MISD.

I LOVE WHEN I TELL PEOPLE ABOUT SAVVIES AND SOME OF THE GREAT THINGS WE DO AND I'LL BE AT SOME BOARD THING AND I'M LIKE, REALLY, THEY MAKE HOMEMADE CINNAMON ROLLS AT YOUR SCHOOLS? NO, REALLY. THERE'S BIG MIXERS AND STUFF.

PEOPLE ARE REALLY IN AWE THAT THAT'S HOW WE DO DAILY OPERATIONS FOR OUR KIDS AND MAKING SURE THAT THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR THEM AND THAT WE KNOW THAT THEY PERFORM BETTER WHEN THEY EAT BETTER.

THANK YOU FOR THAT. I LOVE THAT YOU GUYS ALSO DO THE ANGEL FUNDS AND THINGS LIKE THAT AND BE ABLE TO PAY IT FORWARD.

I LOVE THAT ASPECT OF THAT THING.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR BEING CREATIVE ON ALL THOSE LEVELS THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAM ARE, YOU'RE AMAZING.

[00:55:01]

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> DOCTOR LEE.

>> THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.

I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAM HAVE A GOAL OF RETAINING YOUR FAMILY, AND I SEE THAT YOU HAVE INCORPORATED A NUMBER OF ACTIVITIES AND YOU HAVE A CERTAIN EXPECTATION IN YOUR FACILITIES WHERE YOU'RE CREATING A COMMUNITY AND THUS YOUR FAMILY.

YOU'RE ALREADY EXPLAINED THAT YOU'RE INCORPORATING DIFFERENT INITIATIVES TO RETAIN, AND YOU'RE EVALUATING MONTH TO MONTH, THE DIFFERENT PERCENTAGES, WOULD YOU PLEASE COME BACK IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND EXPLAIN TO US THE DIFFERENT INITIATIVES YOU IMPLEMENTED TO ENSURE THAT YOU MEET THE 83% OR ABOVE? WOULD YOU DO THAT FOR US?

>> YES, MA'AM. ABSOLUTELY.

>> THANK YOU.

>> MISS ANDERSON.

>> I JUST WANT TO ECHO ACTUALLY WHAT MISS NEWSOME SAID, I'M A BIG FAN OF YOU GUYS.

BUT I WANTED TO POINT OUT A COUPLE OF THINGS BECAUSE I'M A NUMBERS PERSON.

I HEAR THE 285 EMPLOYEES, AND I THINK WOW, THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE.

TO HAVE ALL OF THE CAPABILITIES THAT WE HAVE AND KEEP RATES DOWN ON WORKERS COMP BECAUSE I'VE BEEN IN A LOT OF BIG BUSINESSES.

I DON'T THINK PEOPLE REALLY KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, I DID THE MATH REALLY FAST.

BUT ON 285 EMPLOYEES, YOU WENT FROM 22 ALMOST 23 PEOPLE MAKING INCIDENT REPORTS DOWN TO 18.

IT'S ALREADY REALLY 20 PEOPLE ONLY? THEN YOU EVEN REDUCED IT MORE.

THAT TO ME IS IMPECCABLE.

THEN I LOOK AT YOU HAVE 285, AGAIN, EMPLOYEES, AND TO ACTUALLY KEEP THAT NUMBER AT THE 82 OR 83% MARK, AND I JUST DID 82%, THAT'S 236, ALMOST 240 EMPLOYEES YOU RETAIN.

I'VE BEEN TO END OF YEAR PARTIES.

MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT ARE LEAVING ARE 30 YEARS PLUS, THEY'VE BEEN HERE, THAT'S WHY THEY'RE LEAVING.

THEY'RE READY TO GO BE WITH GRAND KIDS.

TREMENDOUS JOB, LOVE YOU ALL.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. THANK YOU.

>>I'M SORRY. NOW, MISS THOMAS?

>> I JUST ONE COUPLE OF THINGS.

I LOVE THAT YOUR CREATIVITY AND EXPOSING OUR KIDS TO DIFFERENT FOODS.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU CALL THE MYSTERY FOOD OF THE DAY OR SOMETHING ODD THAT THE KIDS PROBABLY HAVE NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO AND THEY GET AN OPTION TO TRY IT.

I THINK THAT'S A GREAT IDEA, IS JUST EXPOSING KIDS TO DIFFERENT THINGS THAT THEY MIGHT NOT SEE IN THEIR HOUSE EVERY DAY.

I COMMEND YOU ALL ON AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS MYSTERY FOOD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS CALLED.

>> TRY SOMETHING NEW.

>> TRY SOMETHING NEW. [LAUGHTER] LET'S CALL IT A MYSTERY MYSTERY.

BUT IT'S JUST A VERY CREATIVE WAY TO GET THE KIDS TO AT LEAST TRY IT AND JUST BEING IN THE CAFETERIAS IN WATCHING BE EXCITED. WHAT'S THAT? THEN ONE TASTE AND JUST COMMEND YOU GUYS ON THAT.

THEN GOING BACK TO THE ANGEL FUND, IS THAT IF A PARENT OR A COMMUNITY MEMBER OR SOMEBODY WANTED TO DONATE TO THAT, THAT CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHERE THEY WOULD GO TO FIND THAT TO DONATE?

>> ABSOLUTELY. SANDRA THOMAS IS ABSOLUTELY THE CONTACT PERSON AND THE FLYER.

>> THE BEST WAY IS FOR SOMEBODY TO CONTACT THE STUDENT NUTRITION OFFICE DIRECTLY.

IF THEY DO NOT HAVE A STUDENT IN THE DISTRICT, THEN I WORK WITH THEM THAT THEY CAN EITHER SEND OR BRING A CHECK OR PAYMENT UP TO THE STUDENT NUTRITION OFFICE.

WE PROVIDE THEM A RECEIPT, A DONATION ACKNOWLEDGMENT SO THAT IF THEY NEED THAT FOR TAX PURPOSES, THEY CAN HAVE THAT AS WELL.

BUT BY CONTACTING STUDENT NUTRITION DIRECTLY, WE CAN TAKE CARE OF THEM.

>> PERFECT. THAT'S A GREAT WAY FOR ANY OF OUR PTAS THAT PAY EXTRA FUNDS TO DONATE TO THAT.

>> ABSOLUTELY. YES. THANK YOU.

>> ANY MORE DONE HERE?

>> WELL, YOU ALL KNOW WHAT HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU.

I THINK IT WAS JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO THAT I TRIED TO TRICK YOU INTO CATERING SOMETHING FOR ME BECAUSE YOUR FOOD WAS SO GOOD.

BUT NO, I ACTUALLY, MISS THOMAS JUST ASKED WHAT I WAS GOING TO ASK ABOUT, DOES THAT ANGEL FINE? I LOVE THAT PROCESS, AND WE'VE GOTTEN IN IMPLEMENTED AT WORK AS WELL. YOU ANSWERED THE QUESTION.

FOR THOSE THAT DIDN'T HEAR IT, IF YOU HAVE THE URGE TO DONATE OR HELP CHIP IN OR HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TO JUST CONTACT DIRECTLY TO YOUR OFFICE, CORRECT?

>> YES, MA'AM.

>> WELL, THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH.

ALL I KNOW IS BETWEEN YOU GUYS AND THE KIDS OVER IN THE CULINARY DEPARTMENT AT MAN BARBARA.

WE DO A LOT OF GOOD EATING IN THIS DISTRICT.

>> YES WE DO.

>> YES. THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> I APPRECIATE YOU ALL.

[BACKGROUND] [LAUGHTER]

>> MOVING ON. I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE JARED WILMEK TO COME FORWARD FOR 8.2 PRESENTATION AND JUST GIVE US A SYSTEMS REPORT ON ATHLETICS.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH, DOCTOR CANTU, PRESIDENT WILSON, SCHOOL BOARD, I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO PRESENT OUR ATHLETIC SYSTEMS REPORT TONIGHT.

[01:00:03]

I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE MY TEAM FIRST OVER ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE.

BOBBY NICHOLSON JOINED US ABOUT A MONTH AGO AS THE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, DON MAU SMITH, I'M SORRY.

HE'S THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. DON MAU SMITH IS MY ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR.

ANDY STARNS IS OUR DISTRICT ATHLETIC TRAINER, LACY BECKLER IS OUR ATHLETIC COORDINATOR, AND THEN APRIL BURKE, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, AND DEMONIC H SMITH CLARK IS ALSO AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.

I CAN TELL YOU MY TEAM HAS BEEN AMAZING.

WE ARE RESTRUCTURING SOME THINGS AND GETTING ORGANIZED IN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS I'VE BEEN HERE, BUT I CAN TELL YOU WE'RE GETTING OUT WITH OUR COACHES AND WITH OUR PLAYERS.

WE'RE TRAVELING WITH OUR TEAMS. I GOT TO GO ON A GREAT JOURNEY WITH OUR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RUNS AND OUR BASKETBALL RUNS RIGHT WHEN I GOT HERE IN JANUARY.

WHEN BOBBY GOT HERE ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I HANDED BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL OFF TO HIM, AND HE HAS HIT THE GROUND RUNNING WITH THAT AND HE'S BEEN A GREAT ASSET FOR OUR BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL COACHES AS THEY GEAR UP TO START THE PLAYOFFS HERE IN ABOUT A WEEK.

BUT GREAT TEAM AND THAT BALANCE IS COMING TOGETHER.

I'VE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE HARD WORK THEY PUT IN, BUT ALSO THEIR VISION THAT I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS TONIGHT.

GROWTH IS THE WORD THAT I'M GOING TO DESCRIBE OUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, THE CHALLENGE THAT WE'RE MOVING TOWARD IS TO GROW OUR DEPARTMENT, AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE AND I GOT SOME ADVICE FROM A COACH YEARS AGO, GROW WHERE YOUR FEET ARE.

WHAT THAT MEANS FOR MY COACHES IS, I WANT TO GROW OUR COACHES WHERE THEY'RE AT IN MANSFIELD ISD.

I WANT TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE OPPORTUNITIES TO CONTINUE TO GET PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

I WANT TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE RESOURCES THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

REALLY, I JUST WANT TO PROVIDE THEM BECAUSE COACHING IS VERY CHALLENGING.

I WANT TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE SUPPORT SYSTEM AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT TO CONTINUE TO DO WHAT THEY DO, WHICH IS A VERY CHALLENGING AND REWARDING JOB, MOST OF THE TIME.

THEN FOR OUR ATHLETES TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE GROWTH THEY NEED BY ALL THE SUPPORT THAT OUR ATHLETES WILL HAVE WITH THEIR COACHES BEING THE BEST COACHES WE CAN PROVIDE FOR THEM, OUR FACILITIES BEING THE BEST FACILITIES WE CAN PROVIDE FOR THEM.

BUT AGAIN, JUST MAKING SURE OUR COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO SUPPORT OUR ATHLETES.

I'VE SEEN THAT THAT AT A HIGH LEVEL AND I'VE REALLY ENJOYED GETTING TO GET MY FIRST EXPERIENCES WITH OUR ATHLETES AND OUR COACHES IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS HERE.

OUR DEPARTMENT ROLES. THESE ARE THINGS THAT WE HAVE GOING ON IN THE PRESENT MOMENT.

THIS WAS A BIG REALIGNMENT YEAR FOR US.

THE UIL RELEASED OUR NEW REALIGNMENT BACK IN FEBRUARY, THERE WAS A LOT OF SCHEDULING THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THAT AS WE MOVED INTO SOME NEW DISTRICTS.

VERY MUCH A PART OF OUR DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ONLY SCHEDULING OUR OWN ATHLETES, BUT ALSO WE ARE THE DEC CHAIR FOR OUR NEW DISTRICTS, SO WE'RE ALSO VERY INVOLVED IN PROVIDING OUR OTHER DISTRICTS THAT SURROUND US THAT ARE IN OUR NEW LEAGUE.

THE GUIDANCE AND THE SUPPORT THAT THEY NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE WHEN IT COMES TO THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF OUR DISTRICT, WE'VE HAD SEVERAL MEETINGS WITH THE OTHER ATHLETIC DIRECTORS IN THOSE DISTRICTS.

I'M VERY PROUD OF THE WAY WE'VE ROLLED THAT OUT WITH OUR NEW DISTRICT.

I THINK WE'VE GOT A REALLY GOOD THING GOING WHEN IT COMES TO ALL THE NEW TEAMS THAT ARE JOINING IN OUR LEAGUES.

UIL COMPLIANCE, NEW RULES AND JUST THE UPDATES THAT THE UIL GIVES US REALLY ON A MONTHLY RIGHT NOW, RAZA PETA, THE NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT THE UIL.

THAT IS SOMEONE THAT I'M ABLE TO REACH OUT TO AND HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH.

IT'S A CHANGING AND EVOLVING WORLD IN THE UIL EVERY YEAR, AND HAVING THE ABILITY TO HAVE A GREAT CONNECTION WITH HIM.

I'M ALSO ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WITH THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION AND THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ASSOCIATION.

ALL THOSE ORGANIZATIONS AND THE UIL PROVIDE ME GREAT OPPORTUNITIES TO GET IN ROOMS TO FIGURE OUT THE CHALLENGES THAT WE HAVE AND TO BE A VOICE IN THAT ROOM FOR MANSFIELD SD AS WE CONTINUE TO PROMOTE ATHLETICS.

OUR BUDGET. OBVIOUSLY, THERE'S A BUDGET THAT WE HAVE TO MAINTAIN, BUT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE BUDGET THAT WE HAVE, WE ARE SPENDING THAT MONEY CORRECTLY, THAT IT GOES TO THE SUPPORT OF OUR STUDENTS AND OUR COACHES AND JUST KEEPING AN EYE ON THAT HAS BEEN ENJOYABLE.

IT'S ALWAYS FUN TO GET INTO A NEW BUDGET LINE AND GO THROUGH ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE INVOLVED IN BUDGETS.

BUT I'M PROUD OF THE WAY WE'VE MANAGED THAT AS WE'VE WORKED THROUGH THE FIRST THREE MONTHS.

I'M WORKING WITH NEW HIRES.

WE'VE MADE SEVERAL NEW HIRES IN OUR DISTRICT IN MY FIRST THREE MONTHS, AND I'VE ENJOYED WORKING WITH SOME OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AND MAKING SURE THAT WE CAN ENSURE THE BEST HIRES WE CAN MAKE WITH OUR COACHING STAFFS AND IT'S BEEN REALLY FUN FOR ME TO GET OUT AND ENGAGE WITH OUR ADMINISTRATION AT OUR CAMPUSES AND GETTING TO KNOW THEM AND

[01:05:03]

HIRING OFTEN BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER TO MAKE THOSE DECISIONS.

LIKE I SAID EARLIER, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'VE GOT MY DEPARTMENT DOING IS WE'RE GOING AND EVALUATING OUR FACILITIES.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THE FACILITIES WE HAVE ARE UP KEPT AND THAT THEY'RE LOOKING AS GOOD AS WE CAN KEEP THEM.

WE'VE CHALLENGED OUR COACHES AND OUR STAFFS TO CLEAN THINGS UP, MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE PRIDE IN WHAT WE DO.

WE WANT OUR KIDS TO STEP INTO ENVIRONMENTS THAT ARE NOT ONLY SAFE, BUT ALSO JUST PRIDE IN OUR COMMUNITY, AND WE'RE WORKING ON THAT ALSO.

I TALKED ABOUT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

THAT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING AGAIN, IN THOSE ASSOCIATIONS, I'M INVOLVED IN, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE PROVIDING THE BEST PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR OUR COACHES.

A LOT OF THAT IS RULE CHANGES, BUT SOME OF THAT IS JUST STATE MOTIVATING STRATEGIES, ALL THE THINGS THAT GO INTO MOTIVATING KIDS THESE DAYS, MUCH LIKE THE CLASSROOM.

THEN ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THE UIL HAS A BIG PUSH RIGHT NOW IS ON SPORTSMANSHIP.

I WANT TO SHOW A VIDEO THAT OUR BEN BARBER KIDS PUT TOGETHER FOR US THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE HAVE PLAYED AT SOME EVENTS, BUT WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO PLAY AS WE MOVE FORWARD INTO THE EVENTS.

LET ME GO BACK.

YOU MIGHT HAVE TO PLAY THAT FROM BACK THERE.

[MUSIC]

>> DEAR PARENTS AND FANS ON THE COURT AND ON THE FIELD, IT GETS VERY INTENSE.

>> AT THE END OF THE GAME, REMAIN HUMBLE IN VICTORY AND GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT.

>> WE NEED YOU TO HELP US RESPECT THE SPIRIT OF THE COMPETITION.

>> PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE IN DISRESPECTFUL CONDUCT, INCLUDING VERBAL ABUSE OF OPPONENTS, OFFICIALS, OR COACHES.

>> WHETHER ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR IN THE STANDS, REMEMBER THE VALUE AND PURPOSE OF EDUCATION-BASED ATHLETICS.

>> ON BEHALF OF MISD ATHLETICS, WE ASK EVERYONE TO ASSIST ON BENCHING BAD BEHAVIOR.

>> PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU'RE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL, SUPPORTIVE PARENT, AND RESPONSIBLE FAN.

>> YOUR BEHAVIOR HAS AN IMPACT.

THE EYES AND EARS OF WATCHING AND LEARNING FROM YOU.

>> THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MISD ATHLETICS.

>> FOR MORE INFORMATION, GO TO MANSFIELDISD.ORG.

>> I LOVE THAT VIDEO, GETTING OUR KIDS ENGAGED AND CHALLENGING OUR PARENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ACT RIGHT SOMETIMES.

THEN OBVIOUSLY, OUR COACHES, ONE THING WE HAVE TO DO WITH THEM IS MAKING SURE THAT THEY ARE MAKING SURE OUR KIDS RESPOND THE RIGHT WAY AND A WRONG SITUATION SOMETIMES.

THAT'S SOMETHING WE'LL CONTINUE TO WORK THROUGH AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

ON THE DIG, YOU KNOW RIGHT THERE AND I'M GOING TO MOVE THAT SLIDE NEXT.

RANK ONE AND MASCOT MEDIA AUTOMATICALLY SYNC, AND I'LL TALK ABOUT THAT ON THE NEXT SLIDE.

SYSTEMS THAT MATTER TO US. FAN ALERTS.

MOST PEOPLE MAY BE IN THE AUDIENCE TONIGHT OUR SCHOOL BOARD HAVE HAD THOSE FAN ALERT EMAILS COME THROUGH, AND THAT PROMOTES OUR COACHES AND ATHLETES TO INFORM OUR COMMUNITY OF UPCOMING EVENTS.

MASCOT MEDIA, EACH CAMPUS HAS A WEBSITE THAT LINKS PARENTS TO INFORMATION ON EACH CAMPUS ABOUT ATHLETICS.

RANK ONE IS A DATABASE THAT HOUSES ALL OF OUR ATHLETES IN A ROSTER FORM AND ALLOWS US TO KEEP UP WITH COMPLIANCE.

NFHS NETWORK.

THAT GIVES OUR PARENTS AND FANS THE ABILITY TO WATCH OUR SPORTING EVENTS FROM A LAPTOP.

THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE IN MANSFIELD.

THEY COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES.

IT JUST GIVES THE CONNECTION TO HAPPEN WITH OUR FAN BASE.

PERRY WEATHER IS A WEATHER PLATFORM USED BY MIST TO MONITOR POTENTIAL WEATHER THREATS. HOMETOWN TICKETS.

THAT IS THE TICKETING SITE THAT WE USE, AND THAT ALLOWS OUR FANS TO PURCHASE TICKETS BEFORE THEY GET TO OUR EVENTS.

SOCIAL MEDIA, WE CELEBRATE OUR PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY WITH OUR COMMUNITY.

LIKE I SAID, WE ALSO HAVE FORMED A PROGRAM WITH BEN BARBER.

THOSE KIDS ARE THE ONES THAT PUT THAT VIDEO TOGETHER AND WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THOSE KIDS COMING OVER AND DOING DIFFERENT VIDEOS AND SOCIAL MEDIA BLASTS TO PROMOTE OUR ATHLETICS.

DEPARTMENT STRENGTHS. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME IS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE GETTING OUT TO OUR COACHES.

I MENTIONED THAT BEFORE.

BUT MY TEAM IS DOING A GREAT JOB OF GETTING OUT AND CONNECTING WITH OUR COACHES, WHETHER THAT'S IN AN ATHLETIC PERIOD OR AT A PRACTICE, OR AT A SPORTING EVENT.

WE WANT UNIFICATION TO BE WHAT WE ARE.

WE WANT TO LIVE AS ONE MENTALITY.

I KNOW WE HAVE SEVEN JUNIOR HIGHS AND FIVE HIGH SCHOOLS, BUT WE CAN LIVE AS ONE, WE CAN SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND ESPECIALLY ON THOSE CAMPUSES TO BE ABLE TO SHARE ATHLETES AND WORK TO GROW EACH OTHER'S PROGRAMS. I THINK THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT.

WE HAVE A DEDICATED STAFF. I WILL SAY THAT.

THEY ARE DEDICATED TO THE CAUSE RIGHT NOW WITH OUR COACHES, MY ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM.

THEN EVEN BEYOND THAT, WHEN IT COMES TO OUR UPPER ADMINISTRATION, OUR TEACHERS, AND PRINCIPALS ON THE CAMPUSES, I CAN TELL YOU THAT IN MY FIRST THREE MONTHS, I'VE BEEN VERY IMPRESSED WITH OUR STAFF AND HOW DEDICATED THEY ARE TO SUPPORTING ALL PROGRAMS. QUALITY FACILITIES, LIKE I MENTIONED EARLIER, WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO KEEP THOSE QUALITY FACILITIES AS CLEAN AND NICE AS WE CAN.

[01:10:05]

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS.

WE HAVE SEVERAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS THAT WE HAVE AND WANT TO CONTINUE TO GROW THOSE PARTNERSHIPS, AND THEN COMMUNITY SUPPORT.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PRODUCT THAT WE'RE PUTTING OUT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT OUR COMMUNITY CAN BE PROUD OF, AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO GROW THAT ALSO.

A COUPLE OF SPECIFICS ON WHAT WE TRACK.

WE TRACK ACADEMIC SUCCESSES, AND ALSO WE TRACK THOSE AS WE GO THROUGH THE YEAR.

THIS IS EVERY SIX WEEKS, WE WILL TRACK OUR GRADES.

OUR COACHES ALSO DO A GREAT JOB OF TRACKING GRADES TO SEE NOT ONLY SUCCESSES FOR AB HONOR ROLES, AND WE BLAST THAT OUT TO PROMOTE THAT, BUT WE ALSO WANT TO SEE WHEN KIDS MIGHT BE STRUGGLING AND WE NEED TO PROVIDE THEM EXTRA SUPPORT.

ATHLETICS CAN BE DAUNTING AT TIMES WHEN IT COMES TO TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR ACADEMIC PIECE AND PROVIDING THEM WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR TUTORIALS OR FOR JUST EXTRA ATTENTION IS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE ABLE TO TRACK AND KEEP UP WITH ON REALLY A YEAR-ROUND BASIS.

WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THE WAY THAT WE TRACK THIS AND ALSO USE THIS AS A TOOL TO ENGAGE WITH OUR STUDENTS WHEN WE SEE THEM SLIPPING IN SOME AREAS AT TIMES.

THE MISD CUP, SO MUCH LIKE THE LONESTAR CUP THAT IS LED BY THE UIL.

WE HAVE OUR OWN VERSION OF THIS, AND I LOVE THIS.

WHAT THE VERSION OF THIS LOOKS LIKE HERE IN MANSFIELD, IS WE VALUE ATHLETICS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND ACADEMICS.

WE ALSO INCLUDE RETENTION IN THIS WITH OUR COACHES.

I KNOW THEY'RE HARD TO READ, BUT ALL OF THESE ARE DIFFERENT FORMS OF ACADEMIC SUCCESSES AT CAMPUS, COMMUNITY HOURS THAT OUR DIFFERENT CAMPUSES HAVE PROVIDED TO OUR COMMUNITY, AND THEN THE ACADEMIC SUCCESSES ALSO.

ALSO THE RECORDS THAT OUR TEAMS HAVE AS THEY COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER.

THIS FORMULA GENERATES A CHAMPION AT THE END OF THE DAY.

IT'S BECOME COMPETITIVE.

OUR SCHOOLS THAT MIGHT STRUGGLE A LITTLE BIT MORE AND WINNING A LOT OF GAMES.

SOMETIMES THEY'LL PUSH HARD FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PIECE, AND IT'S BEEN GREAT TO SEE HOW THIS HAS BECOME COMPETITIVE.

I THINK IT JUST ANYTHING GROWS.

THAT'S COMPETITIVE HELPS GROW THE PROCESS, AND I'VE REALLY ENJOYED GETTING TO SEE THIS PROCESS.

WE HIT ON COMMUNITY SERVICE.

WE PLACE HIGH VALUE IN PROVIDING TO OTHERS.

I THINK PROVIDING TO OTHERS IS ONE OF ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT WE CAN DO AS EDUCATORS.

THE ABILITY FOR OUR ATHLETES TO GIVE BACK AND PAY IT FORWARD IS A CORE BELIEF.

HERE'S SOME PICTURES OF JUST OUR ATHLETES ENGAGING IN OUR COMMUNITY.

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE DIG, WE HAD ALMOST 19,000 HOURS AND WE ARE ON PACE TO PASS THAT THIS YEAR.

THAT IS A HUGE CHALLENGE COMING FROM OUR OFFICE, MAKING SURE THAT THOSE COACHES AND THOSE KIDS ARE GETTING OUT AND GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY.

BECAUSE SO MANY TIMES WHEN YOU GO GIVE BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY, THEY'RE GOING TO COME SUPPORT YOU, AND THAT'S A GREAT WAY TO LINK OUR COMMUNITY INTO OUR ATHLETIC PROGRAMS. ONE OF THE THINGS I'VE TRULY ENJOYED IN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS.

I WAS GOING TO CALL THIS WATER BURGER WITH WOMACK BUT I FOUND OUT THAT WATER BURGER WASN'T ON THE VENDOR LIST, SO WE HAD TO PIVOT AND WE HAD TO GO JASON'S WITH JARED.

I HAVE BEEN TO ALL SEVEN JUNIOR HIGHS.

I'VE BEEN TO THREE OF THE FIVE HIGH SCHOOLS.

I WAS AT MANSFIELD HIGH TODAY.

I WAS AT SUMMIT YESTERDAY.

WHAT I'M DOING ON THIS TOUR I'M CALLING IT IS I'M PROVIDING THEM LUNCH, WHICH IS ALWAYS A GREAT THING.

PEOPLE LIKE TO BE FED.

COACHES REALLY LIKE TO EAT.

WE PROVIDE THEM WITH A BOX LUNCH FROM JASON'S AND I JUST TELL MY STORY.

I TELL MY STORY, BUT I ALSO TIE IN THE CHALLENGES OF WHAT MY VISION IS FOR ATHLETICS IN MY STORY.

I ALSO WANT FEEDBACK.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT OUR COACHES, TELL ME WHAT WE'RE DOING GOOD.

TELL ME HOW WE CAN IMPROVE.

WE'RE GOING TO PUT THAT ALL IN A SPREADSHEET AND WE'RE GOING TO DISSECT THAT INTO IS THERE ANY BIG OVERALL CONCERNS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN OUR DISTRICT.

WE NEED TO GO ATTACK THOSE.

THEN WE'LL DO THIS AGAIN IN THE FALL.

I'LL GO BACK AND MAYBE WE'LL HAVE WATER BURGER ON THE VENDOR LIST AND WE CAN GO WATER BURGER WITH WALMART AND WE'LL SHOW THEM, HEY, HERE'S SOME THINGS WE HEARD ALL SAY.

HERE'S SOME STEPS WE TOOK TO MOVE IN A BETTER DIRECTION.

BUT I TRULY ENJOYED THIS PROCESS.

IT GETS ME ON THE CAMPUSES.

THE COACHES ARE EXCITED WHEN I SHOW UP TO DO THIS.

I'VE GOTTEN TO TOUR ALL THE DIFFERENT FACILITIES.

IT'S JUST ME AND APRIL BURKE, MY SECRETARY.

WE GO TOGETHER, AND WE WALK IN AND WE GIVE THE PRESENTATION, AND WE GET FEEDBACK.

I'VE TRULY ENJOYED THAT.

LIKE I SAID, WE'VE DONE ALL SEVEN JUNIOR HIGHS, WE'VE DONE THREE OF THE FIVE HIGH SCHOOLS.

WE HAVE TWO MORE TO GO, AND I'M EXCITED TO CONTINUE THIS AS MY TIME IS HERE IN MANSFIELD.

WITH THAT, I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.

>> I'LL START DOWN HERE. ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? MISS THOMAS.

>> I HAVE ONE. WITH YOUR JASON'S WITH JARED,

[01:15:05]

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT ADDING STUDENTS' INPUT ON JUST WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOESN'T AND GETTING THEIR FEEDBACK ON WHAT'S WORKING FOR THEIR SPORTS TEAMS?

>> AS WE CONTINUE TO GROW MY VISION AND WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE, I'M GOING TO GET SOME STUDENT GROUPS TOGETHER ALSO.

IN OTHER DISTRICTS, COACHES ARE REALLY GOOD ABOUT STEALING GREAT IDEAS FROM OTHER PLACES.

THAT'S WHY OFFENSIVE FOOTBALL CHANGES.

SOMEONE RUNS A GREAT PLAY ON SUNDAY NIGHT WITH THE DALLAS COWBOYS AND EVERY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE NATION IS RUNNING AT THE NEXT WEEK.

A LOT OF OUR SURROUNDING DISTRICTS, THEY HAVE SOME STUDENT GROUPS THAT THEY'LL BRING IN, MAYBE TWO STUDENTS FROM EACH CAMPUS, AND HAVE THAT FEEDBACK PROCESS ALSO, BUT ALSO ENGAGE WITH THEM AND GIVE THEM MOTIVATION FOR HOW THEY CAN GO LEAD BETTER.

ABSOLUTELY. AS WE GROW THIS, GETTING THOSE STUDENTS ENGAGED IN THE PROCESS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.

>> THANK YOU.

>> MISS FLORA.

>> WELL, THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.

SPORTS ARE EXCITING AND IT'S ONE THING THAT CAN REALLY BRING OUR COMMUNITY TOGETHER.

LOOKING AT YOUR STAFF ATTENTION RATE, 95%, HOLY GOD, THAT'S AMAZING.

GOOD JOB, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

I THINK THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR YOUR DEPARTMENT AND THE CULTURE THAT'S WITHIN THERE.

ALSO, THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE DATA ON THE ACADEMICS BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE IN THE BUSINESS OF EDUCATING STUDENTS.

BUT ATHLETICS REALLY I THINK IT SHOWS THAT THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING ATHLETICS AND A STRONG ATHLETIC PROGRAM IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE IT'S WHAT GETS A LOT OF KIDS TO PERFORM IN THE CLASSROOM.

I THINK I TOTALED IT WAS ALMOST 60% OF ALL OF OUR ATHLETES ARE EITHER ON THE A OR A B ON RULE.

THAT'S INCREDIBLE. THANK YOU FOR TRACKING THAT AND SHARING THAT WITH US.

THE COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS BLEW ME AWAY.

JUST WHAT THEY'RE LEARNING THROUGH COMMUNITY SERVICE, WORKING TOGETHER, SERVING OUR COMMUNITY, IT REALLY JUST TOUCHES ON THAT COMPONENT OF GRADUATING LIFE READY, SO THANK YOU.

EVERYTHING THAT'S CULTIVATED IN THIS PROGRAM REALLY PREPARES OUR STUDENTS.

I THINK SOMETIMES THERE'S SUCH AN EMPHASIS ON ATHLETIC SOMETIMES WHEN PEOPLE ARE LIKE, GOSH, WE ALL KNOW THERE'S SO MUCH EMPHASIS.

BUT IT REALLY DOES AFFECT SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS.

I THINK I WAS LOOKING WE HAVE OVER 6,000 STUDENT ATHLETES IN OUR DISTRICT.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK, I'M EXCITED TO SEE WHERE YOU TAKE THIS PROGRAM AND WE'RE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> IS THERE ANYONE ELSE, MISS NEWSOME.

>> I ECHO WHAT MISS BARAR SAID.

I THINK MANSFIELD IS VERY MUCH AN ATHLETIC TOWN.

MOST OF US ON ANY GIVEN NIGHT OF THE WEEK AND ON THE WEEKENDS, WE TRAVEL TO GO TO GAMES, AND ALL SPORTS, ALL THINGS LIKE THAT.

BUT UNDERSTANDING THAT WE'RE TRYING TO AFFECT THAT WHOLE STUDENT IS REALLY AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF THAT PUZZLE.

I'VE SEEN OUR SPORTS TEAMS OUT IN THE COMMUNITY, VOLUNTEERING, BEEN PART OF IT, BEEN A PARENT CHAPERONING DURING ALL THOSE FUN THINGS.

I THINK IT'S SUCH AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF IT.

PEOPLE HEAR A LOT ABOUT, WE NEED THINGS FOR ATHLETICS.

BUT THOSE ATHLETICS DRIVE THOSE STUDENTS TO PERFORM.

ALSO, ATHLETICS ARE SOMETIMES THE THING THAT HELPS STUDENT GET AHEAD AND FIND SOME PATHS IN LIFE THAT THEY MAY NOT FIND OTHERWISE.

UNDERSTANDING THAT THAT REALLY HELPS MEET SOME KIDS WHERE THEY ARE TO GET THEM FURTHER DOWN THE LINE.

ALSO, I KNOW THAT THERE'S STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT, TOO, THAT ATHLETICS REALLY BECOMES THEIR PARENT ALMOST AND REALLY TAKES CARE OF THEM.

NOT ANY DIFFERENT THAN I THINK BAND DOES IN ANY OTHER COMMUNITY THAT WE HAVE IN THERE, BUT IT'S INTENSELY STRONG WITH ATHLETICS AS WELL.

YOU GUYS REALLY REALLY DO GOD'S WORK WITH ATHLETES AND STUDENTS IN BRINGING IT ALL FULL CIRCLE.

WE APPRECIATE WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

L MISS BARAR SAID, WE'RE EXCITED TO HAVE YOU AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL THE GREAT THINGS THAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH. YES, MA'AM.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION.

I APPRECIATE YOU'RE SAYING YOU HAVE THESE GOALS AND YOU ARE GATHERING THE DATA AND YOU DID REVEAL TO US THE A AND AB HONOR FOR THE STUDENTS, AND YOU'RE PUTTING IN PLACE DIFFERENT SERVICES TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS WILL IMPROVE.

ONCE YOU HAVE GATHERED THE DATA, WOULD YOU COME BACK AND SHARE THE DIFFERENT SERVICES YOU PROVIDED AND THE NEW NUMBERS SO THAT OUR PUBLIC AND OUR PARENTS CAN SEE THAT WE'RE NOT ONLY BUILDING CHARACTER AND BUILDING DISCIPLINE IN OUR ATHLETES AND THEY'RE IMPROVING IN ATHLETIC TALENTS AND GIFTS, BUT YOU'RE ALSO IMPROVING THEM IN THE ACADEMIC AREA AS WELL WOULD YOU MIND COMING BACK TO THIS?

>> YES, MA'AM. ABSOLUTELY.

>> THANK YOU, AND YES, WELCOME TO MANSA.

WE'RE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU. THANK YOU.

>> YES, COACH. EXCITED THAT YOU'RE HERE AND REALLY

[01:20:02]

APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT YOU'RE REACHING OUT TO OUR STAFF BECAUSE THAT MEANS A LOT TO US AND THEN EVENTUALLY THE STUDENTS TO GET THE INPUT BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT'S REALLY GOOD.

THEN SOMETIMES YOU'RE LIKE, OH, I NEED TO FIX THAT.

BUT IT'S PART OF THE WORK.

WE APPRECIATE THAT AND I APPRECIATE YOUR SHOWING THE NUMBERS BECAUSE OUR DISTRICTS ALWAYS BEEN BIG ON EXTRACURRICULAR AND CO CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS AND YOUR NUMBERS AND DATA SPEAK TO THAT AS DOCTOR REID WAS JUST SAYING. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> YOU WELCOME. I'LL LEAVE YOU ALL WITH THIS.

MY FAVORITE QUOTE IS LIFE IS NOT ALL ABOUT ATHLETICS, BUT ATHLETICS IS ALL ABOUT LIFE, AND I LOVE THAT QUOTE.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME. REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

>> I'LL DISCUSSION ITEMS.

FAIRLY PAINLESS.

SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO ITEM 8 METHOPOLOGIES 9.2 BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.

THAT COMMITTEE IS MYSELF, MISS NEWSOME, AND MISS THOMAS.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO START WITH THAT, MISS THOMAS ON I GUESS, A QUICK DEBRIEFING OR SOMETHING?

>> SURE. THIS YEAR, THE COMMITTEE MET AND OUR GOAL WAS TO ALIGN OUR BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES WITH OUR POLICY.

THE UPDATES AND THE CHANGES IN HERE JUST ALIGN TO MATCH WHAT WE HAD IN OUR LOCAL POLICY FOR BOARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? NO. THAT SUMS IT UP.

[01:25:09]

>> I KNOW MISS THOMAS ASKED, BUT JUST MAKING SURE NO ONE HAD ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING THOSE UPDATES, AND AS SHE STATED THAT THEY WERE TO COINCIDE TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE ALIGNED WITH POLICY.

THIS TAKES US TO ITEM 10 OR PUBLIC COMMENTS.

[10. Public Comments]

THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING THE BOARD DURING PUBLIC COMMENTS IS AS FOLLOWS.

EACH SPEAKER SHOULD ADDRESS THE BOARD FROM THE PODIUM MICROPHONE AND STATE HIS OR HER NAME BEFORE SPEAKING.

ALL SPEAKERS WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE MINUTES TO MAKE COMMENTS REGARDING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA UNLESS MODIFIED BY THE BOARD PRESIDENT BASED ON BOARD POLICY, BED, LOCAL, COPIES OF PRESENTATION SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL TRUSTEES AND THE SUPERINTENDENT.

BOARD POLICY PROHIBITS THE DISCUSSION OR COMPLAINTS AGAINST DISTRICT EMPLOYEES DURING AN OPEN FORUM.

OUR FIRST SPEAKER IS CLAUDIA FOR G COVA.

FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME, CLAUDIA, IF I SAID IT WRONG.

>> HI, EVERYONE. I AM CLAUDIA FORGACOVA AND I JUST MOVED TO MANSFIELD A FEW MONTHS AGO.

ONE OF THOSE REASONS WAS BECAUSE OF THE GREAT REPUTATION YOU HAVE BUILT FOR YOUR SCHOOLS HERE.

AS PART OF THAT, NOW, I ASK THAT YOU CONTINUE TO BUILD THAT BY HOLDING YOURSELVES AS A BOARD ACCOUNTABLE STARTING WITH OUR FAIR ELECTIONS.

FOR MANY WEEKS NOW, YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO LOOK INTO THE ELIGIBILITY OF ANGEL HIDALGO AND JUST RECENTLY, FOUR DAYS BEFORE VOTING STARTED, YOU FINALLY DECLARED HIM TO BE INELIGIBLE.

BUT BEFORE THAT, QUITE A WHILE BEFORE THAT, EVEN ON MARCH 19TH, YOUR BOARD WAS ASKED BY THE TARRANT COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KEEP HIM ON THE BALLOT DUE TO THAT QUESTIONED ELIGIBILITY, YOU CHOSE TO DO SO.

NOW WE ARE HEADING INTO VOTING WITH A VERY LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM THIS BOARD.

ON HIS INELIGIBILITY THERE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE POSTS THAT WERE AKIN TO A WORD SALAD WHERE PEOPLE HAD TO DIG FOR THE POINT.

I KNOW THAT THIS BOARD SEEMS VERY CAPABLE OF GREAT COMMUNICATIONS, I SAW GREAT PLANS FOR COMMUNICATIONS TODAY.

I SAW GREAT QUESTIONS FROM YOU.

YOU ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE TO SHARE WITH TRANSPARENCY ABOUT THESE ELECTIONS YET WE HAVE UNFORTUNATELY NOT SEEN IT ENOUGH FROM YOU.

I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT WE CONTINUE TO BUILD THE REPUTATION OF OUR GREAT SCHOOLS AND OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING BETTER COMMUNICATIONS ABOUT THE ELIGIBILITY OF THIS CANDIDATE.

I WISH THAT I COULD ASK THAT WE TOOK ACTION EARLIER, BUT WE CAN AT LEAST LOOK FORWARD.

I HOPE WE GO FORWARD WITH AT LEAST BETTER COMMUNICATION, WHICH I HAVE E MAILED AND HAVE NOT SEEN A RESPONSE FOR.

THAT WOULD START WITH NOTIFYING YOUR LEGAL DEPARTMENT IN WRITING CLEARLY STATING HIDALGO IS INELIGIBLE.

POST IN CLEAR AND CONCISE WRITING THAT HE IS IN ELIGIBLE AT EVERY VOTING LOCATION, POST ON YOUR COMMUNICATION CHANNELS, REITERATING THIS INELIGIBILITY WITH A MUCH CLEAR AND CONCISE MESSAGE, AND WORK WITH THE TARRANT COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE TO ENSURE AS MANY VOTERS AS POSSIBLE ARE AWARE.

I BELIEVE THAT YOU DO CARE FOR OUR COMMUNITY, AND I HOPE THAT YOU ACT FOR ITS FAIR AND TRANSPARENT LEADERSHIP.

>> THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS BYRON JOHNSON AND FOLLOWING BYRON IS ANGELA PERDUE, IF YOU WANT TO BE PREPARED.

>> THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME HERE TODAY.

MY NAME IS BYRON JOHNSON.

I WAS HERE ABOUT FOUR MONTHS AGO SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF MY SON, BRADLEY JOHNSON AND THE ART DEPARTMENT AND THE LACK OF QUALIFIED TEACHER WITHIN THE CLASSROOM.

WELL, I'M HERE TODAY, I WANTED TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE, LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AND BASICALLY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE STUDENTS AND THE SCHOOLS HAVE THE PROPER RESOURCES.

SO I WANT TO COMMEND THE STAFF AT DALTON ELEMENTARY, MR. GAMMON, MISS JEFFERIES, MRS. GALEN.

SOMETIMES I SAY MISS GALAN BRADLEY ALWAYS CORRECTS ME, BUT I THINK IT'S MRS. GALEN [LAUGHTER] AND ALSO MISS KELSEY.

WELL, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR,

[01:30:03]

THERE WERE ISSUES, THERE WAS NOT A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL IN THE CLASSROOM.

FROM DAY ONE, WHEN THEY MADE THE DECISION TO GET HELP TO GET THOSE RESOURCES IN THE CLASSROOM, I SAW AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE.

I SAW AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE IN MY SON'S BEHAVIOR, I SAW AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE IN HIS LEARNING AND IMPROVEMENT AND I WANTED TO COME HERE TODAY JUST TO GIVE YOU ALL THE UPDATE AND SHOW YOU WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE PUT OUR RESOURCES TOGETHER WHEN WE MAKE CHANGES AND WHEN WE TAKE ACTION.

I'M NOT AS FAMILIAR WITH WHAT'S GOING ON OR WHAT HAPPENED WITHIN THE OTHER CLASSES FROM WHAT I WAS INFORMED AT THE TIME, THAT WAS A DISTRICT WIDE ISSUE AS FAR AS HAVING ART OR A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL WITHIN SOME CLASSROOMS AT SOME CAMPUSES.

I'M HERE TODAY, PROVIDE YOU WITH THAT UPDATE AND TO URGE YOU TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT TO CONTINUE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THE PROPER RESOURCES IN THOSE CLASSROOMS BECAUSE I'VE SAW FIRSTHAND AT THE SCHOOL, THE TEACHERS OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE THE PROPER RESOURCES IN PLACE AND WHEN THOSE STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES.

I JUST WANT TO COME TODAY TO ONE, SAY THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT THAT I RECEIVED AFTER THAT MEETING, I RECEIVED PHONE CALLS, E MAILS.

I WANT TO SAY THANKS AGAIN FOR THE ACTION AND AT THE SAME TIME, ONCE AGAIN, I WANT TO GIVE MY KUDOS TO THE DOCS AND STAFF.

THEY'VE DONE EVERYTHING GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND AND ESPECIALLY BRADLEY'S TWO TEACHERS THAT HE RECEIVED AND THAT HE'S HAD MISS KELSEY AND MRS. GALEN.

ONCE AGAIN, IF THERE ARE ANY SCHOOLS CURRENTLY WITHOUT ART PROFESSIONAL OR QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS, PLEASE CONTINUE TO SEEK HELP, GET THOSE STUDENTS THE HELP THAT THEY NEED BECAUSE NO CHILD SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND AND UNDER THE PROPER CIRCUMSTANCES AND WITH THE PROPER RESOURCES, THOSE CHILDREN ARE THRIVING.

I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING ACTION, AND I URGE THAT YOU CONTINUE TO DO THE SAME THING.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]

>> THANK YOU. ANGELA PERDUE? DARYL SNEED? FOLLOWING MR. SNEED IS BRANDI GARRETT GRIMSLEY.

>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, BOARD MEMBERS AND SUPERINTENDENT CANTU.

I LIVE AT 861 TIGHT STREET, MANSFIELD, TEXAS AND SINCE I'M ON THE CLOCK, I NEED TO BE QUICK.

I DO WANT TO COMMEND THE BOARD FOR MAKING THE DECISION THAT YOU MADE LAST THURSDAY ALTHOUGH I DO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS A LITTLE LATE.

I DO BELIEVE THAT IT CREATED HARM TO ONE OF OUR CANDIDATES.

I ALSO WANT TO COMMEND ALL THE CANDIDATES, MICHELLE NEWSOME, DOCTOR CRUTCHFIELD AND MATT HERZBERG.

YOU WERE ABLE TO CONDUCT YOURSELVES IN A VERY CIVIL MANNER, WHICH I COMMEND YOU FOR.

I'VE LIVED IN MANSFIELD, I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN MANSFIELD SINCE 1995, I BELIEVE THAT MANSFIELD IS A GREAT DISTRICT WITH CARING TEACHERS, PARENTS, AUXILIARY AND ADMINISTRATORS.

WHAT MADE THIS DISTRICT GREAT WAS THE FACT THAT ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE DISTRICT HAD STUDENTS FIRST.

I WANT TO CHALLENGE ALL OF US AS THE COMMUNITY AND THOSE WHO ARE WATCHING ONLINE.

WHATEVER MAY HAVE CAUSED US TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE AND STOP FOCUSING ON KIDS AS MUCH AS WE NEED TO, I WOULD CHALLENGE EACH BOARD MEMBER, EACH ADMINISTRATOR, TEACHER AND EVERYONE ELSE, LET'S MOVE BACK AND KEEP KIDS FIRST BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEY BELONG.

I WAS AN EX ATHLETE, AND I LEARNED FROM ATHLETICS THAT WHEN YOU WIN, YOU DO HAVE A HUMBLE SPRINT AND WHEN YOU LOSE, YOU DO SO WITH CLASS.

I WOULD SAY THIS.

I GAVE YOU A SPEECH THAT I SAW ONLINE ABOUT INTEGRITY, WHICH IS ONE OF THE BOARD'S GOALS.

IT SAID INTEGRITY IS GETTING HARDER TO FIND, AND THERE ARE WAYS TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE IT.

BUT LET'S FIRST FIND OUT WHAT IT'S NOT.

IT'S NOT DOING WHAT'S POPULAR INSTEAD OF WHAT'S RIGHT.

IT'S NOT ACTING DIFFERENTLY IN PRIVATE AND IN PUBLIC.

[01:35:01]

IT'S NOT SAYING ONE THING AND DOING ANOTHER.

IT'S NOT LETTING FEAR DICTATE YOUR DECISIONS.

IT'S NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR OTHERS WORK.

IT'S NOT VALUING SUCCESS OVER ETHICS.

IT'S NOT HIDING YOUR MISTAKES, FOLLOWING THE CROWD, TURNING A BLIND EYE, MAKING EXCUSES, BLAMING OTHERS, OR STAYING SILENT.

WHAT IS INTEGRITY? TRANSPARENCY, ETHICAL BEHAVIOR, KEEPING YOUR WORD, ACTING WITH COURAGE, TREATING OTHERS FAIRLY, OWNING YOUR MISTAKES, RESPECTING CONFIDENTIALITY, SHOWING RESPECT FOR OTHERS, ADMITTING WHEN YOU'RE WRONG, STANDING UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE, REFUSING TO COMPROMISE YOUR VALUES, DOING WHAT'S RIGHT, EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD.

WRONG IS WRONG, EVEN IF EVERYONE IS DOING IT AND RIGHT IS RIGHT, EVEN IF NO ONE IS DOING IT.

I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I PRAY THAT WE WILL TAKE THIS TO HEART AND I ASK ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE INVOLVED IN MANSFIELD, ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO ARE WATCHING ONLINE.

I'M JUST ASKING US, LET'S GET BACK TO CIVILITY AND WE SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT WHEN IT ALL COSTS.

NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF INTEGRITY AND TEACHING KIDS WHAT'S RIGHT AND WHAT'S GOOD.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, I'M GOING TO SAY GOOD NIGHT AND GO BACK TO MY HOUSE AND MEET MY BEDTIME SCHEDULE.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]

>> OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS BRANDY GARRET GRIMSLEY.

FOLLOWED BY EBONY TURNER.

>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD MEMBERS AND DR. CANTU.

MY NAME IS BRANDY GARRETT GRIMSLEY.

I'M AN MISD TAXPAYER AND FORMER EMPLOYEE.

I WAS 21 YEARS WITH THE DISTRICT.

WE KNOW THAT MR. HIDALGO FIRST APPLIED TO RUN FOR ARLINGTON ISD SCHOOL BOARD.

HOWEVER, THEY EXPLAINED THAT HIS ADDRESS WAS NOT IN ARLINGTON ISD AND THEREFORE, HE COULD NOT APPLY TO RUN FOR THEIR SCHOOL BOARD.

GOOD JOB ARLINGTON ISD.

IF ONLY MANSFIELD COULD HAVE DONE THEIR JOB AND CAUGHT MR. HIDALGO'S NEXT MISTAKE.

ON JANUARY 30, MR. HIDALGO APPLIED TO RUN FOR MISD SCHOOL BOARD, WHERE HIS VOTER REGISTRATION WAS VERIFIED AND ACCEPTED.

WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE.

THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DECISION SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

IN ACTUALITY, HIS VOTER REGISTRATION WAS NOT VERIFIED AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED.

THIS IS A FACT ACKNOWLEDGED BY MISD THROUGH THEIR APRIL 18 PRESS RELEASE STATING THAT MISD WAS NOW IN POSSESSION OF A DOCUMENT THAT CONCLUSIVELY ESTABLISHES THAT MR. HIDALGO WAS NOT A REGISTERED VOTER BY THE DEADLINE.

MISD THEN DECLARED MR. HIDALGO INELIGIBLE.

WHY WAS HE ALLOWED TO APPLY AND BE APPROVED ON JANUARY 30? OBVIOUSLY, SOMETHING IN MISD PROCEDURES FAILED.

DUE TO THIS FAILURE, WE HAVE AN INELIGIBLE CANDIDATE ON THE BALLOT.

OPEN RECORDS REQUEST REVEALED A TEXT MESSAGE ON FEBRUARY THE 7TH BETWEEN BOARD MEMBERS, MISS LACKEY WILSON TEXTING MISS THOMAS, SAYING, DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE IS REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY.

HAD THESE BOARD MEMBERS TAKEN STEPS TO ADDRESS THIS CONCERN OR ASK MISD LEGAL TO TAKE STEPS TO VERIFY THIS INFORMATION? THE DECISION TO FIND MR. HIDALGO INELIGIBLE COULD HAVE BEEN MADE PRIOR TO THE FEBRUARY 24 DEADLINE.

IT WORRIES ME THAT WE HAVE BOARD MEMBERS WHO RESEARCH TO SOME DEGREE TO FIND OUT AND MAKE THE STATEMENT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE HAS REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY AND THEN DO NOTHING WITH THIS INFORMATION.

APRIL 4, MISD, RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING HIDALGO'S ELIGIBILITY WAS INCONCLUSIVE.

APRIL 18, MISD SCHOOL BOARD RELEASES A STATEMENT THAT HIDALGO IS, IN FACT, INELIGIBLE.

HOWEVER, BECAUSE THE DEADLINE TO REMOVE HIM FROM THE BALLOT HAS PASSED, HE WILL STAY ON THE BALLOT.

I SEE THAT THE MAY 4 ELECTION HAS AN ESTIMATED COST OF JUST RIGHT AT $100,000.

IF A SPECIAL ELECTION IS NEEDED, THERE GOES MORE MONEY FROM THE DISTRICT ALL DUE TO THE DISTRICT'S COMPLETE FAILURE.

BY VERIFYING AN ELIGIBLE APPLICANT ON JANUARY 30 AND NOT INVESTIGATING CONCERNS OF ELIGIBILITY ON FEBRUARY 7, YOU HAVE ALREADY INTERFERED WITH THIS ELECTION.

YOU HAVE ALLOWED AN INELIGIBLE CANDIDATE TO RUN FOR THIS BOARD SEAT.

THAT IS INTERFERENCE.

I SURE HOPE MS. CRUTCHFELD WINS ON MAY 4 BECAUSE SHE IS THE BEST CANDIDATE AND SHE IS, IN FACT, ELIGIBLE.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]

>> THANK YOU.

>> MS. TURNER AND THEN FOLLOWING MS. TURNER IS DELLA SOUTH.

>> TO SCHOOL BOARD AND DR. CANTU.

THIS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION HAS TURNED INTO A COMPLETE AND UTTER FIASCO AND THAT BLAME LIES SQUARELY ON YOU.

YOU KNEW HIDALGO WAS INELIGIBLE AND YOU DID NOTHING BECAUSE YOU WAITED AND YOU DIDN'T REMOVE HIM IN TIME.

[01:40:01]

WE ARE NOW BEING THRUST IN THIS POLITICAL CONUNDRUM.

YOU HAVE AN INELIGIBLE CANDIDATE LETTING PEOPLE KNOW HE IS RUNNING, NOT THINKING YOU WILL APPOINT HIM, BUT SO IT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A SPECIAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER.

WE KNEW THAT WAS LIKELY THE PLAN, BUT YOUR BOLD PARTISAN AGENDA IS ON DISPLAY, KUDOS OR WHATEVER.

I GUESS IT'S ESPECIALLY TELLING WHEN THE REAGAN LEGACY REPUBLICAN WOMEN'S CLUB IS ON SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORTING THE INELIGIBLE CANDIDATES POST REGARDING THIS SPECIAL ELECTION, AND THE PRESIDENT IS SITTING SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER KASIA FARRAR, THE SECRETARY OF SITTING SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER MICHELLE NEWSOME, AND THE FIRST VICE PRESIDENT IS THE WIFE OF SITTING SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER CRAIG TIPPING.

AS FOR THE BOND, GOING AROUND ON SCHOOL TIME AND TELLING TEACHERS HOW TO ADVOCATE AND SUBTLY THREATENING THEIR JOBS AND SALARIES AND ASKING STUDENT VOLUNTEERS TO ADVOCATE IS QUESTIONABLE AT BEST AND POSSIBLY A VIOLATION OF ELECTION CODE 11.169 AT WORST.

I GUESS WE'LL WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE AG HAS TO SAY ABOUT THAT.

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH DISTRUST YOUR ACTIONS IN THIS ELECTION AND BOND PRESENTATION HAVE CAUSED THE CITIZENS WHO RESIDE IN MISD.

WHILE WE HAVE LEARNED THAT IT'S NOT ILLEGAL TO POST NOTICE OF THE IN ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE ELECTION SITES.

YOU DIDN'T TAKE STEPS TO INFORM THE VOTING PUBLIC AND MISD OUTSIDE OF PARENTS IN THE DISTRICT.

TO ME, THAT AMOUNTS TO VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT.

YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO INFORM THE VOTERS WHO HAVEN'T VOTED YET, THOUGH, SO I WOULD HOPE THAT YOU WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING.

I'VE CERTAINLY CALLED FOR YOU TO RESIGN AND DO SO AGAIN TODAY, AND NOW THERE IS A GROWING INTEREST IN RECALL ELECTIONS.

WOULDN'T IT HAVE JUST BEEN EASIER TO DECLARE HIDALGO INELIGIBLE ON FEBRUARY 7 WHEN YOU SENT THAT TEXT MESSAGE.

[APPLAUSE]

>> DELLA SAP.

>> GOOD EVENING.

>> HOLD ON REAL QUICK. LET ME LET MS. MARCELLA YOU KNOW WE SAY IT, MS. MARCELLA YOU'RE NEXT.

IT'S YOU MS. SAP. I WAS JUST LETTING HER HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET UP HERE.

>> THANK YOU. I THINK YOU TRY TO GIVE ME GET SOME EXERCISE.

GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

HELLO, MY NAME IS DELLA SAP.

WHAT IS ACCOUNTABILITY? THIS TERM REFERS TO ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR HONEST AND ETHICAL CONDUCT TOWARDS OTHERS.

I SURE HATE TO PLACE MY FEELINGS OF DISGUST WITHIN EACH OF Y'ALL.

BUT AS A TEAM AND AS A BOARD, WHEN ONE FALL, WE ALL FALL.

I'VE ASKED SEVERAL TIMES FOR A PUBLIC APOLOGY TO BE MADE TO THE CURRENT RUNNING CANDIDATES, AS WELL AS THE CITIZENS OF MANSFIELD.

HOW DO YOU ALL AS A BOARD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR MISLEADING AND CONFUSING VOTERS? WHEN AN IN ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK AT OUR FORUMS. HIS NAME IS STILL REMAINS ON THE BALLOT AND NOT TO MENTION THE ULTIMATE MISLEADING SHENANIGANS AT THE POLLS WITH PEOPLE CAMPAIGNING.

AT WHAT POINT DO YOU ALL ACTUALLY STOP EMBARRASSING MISD? I'VE ALSO NOTICED THE SPEAKER BEFORE ON THE REAGAN LEGACY REPUBLICAN PAGE THAT WE HAVE SOME LEADERS THAT'S ON THIS PAGE THAT'S ON HALO PAGE.

THAT'S MAKING HARSH COMMENTS AND AGREE WITH THE SHENANIGANS MIMICKING END CARDS.

AS LEADERS, I HOLD Y'ALL AT A HIGHER STANDARDS.

WE JUST HEARD THIS GENTLEMAN SPEAK ABOUT THE CHILDREN THAT JUST HOLDING THEIR SELF ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

I THINK THAT VIDEO SHOULD REALLY SPEAK VOLUME TO EACH OF Y'ALL AND Y'ALL REALLY SHOULD TRY TO MIMIC THAT.

BECAUSE THEY'RE DOING EXACTLY WHAT Y'ALL AND US AS PARENTS IS TRYING TO TEACH.

BUT SOMEWHERE, SOMETHING IS BROKEN, Y'ALL HAVE A BOARD OR SOMETHING WHERE YOU'RE HOLDING EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE, WHERE IS IT? WHO'S USING IT? WE DON'T SEE IT AND WE DON'T SEE THE TOOLS BEING USED.

I WOULD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE Y'ALL TO REALLY GET BACK ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF EDUCATING OUR CHILDREN AND ACTUALLY PUTTING THOSE FIRST.

FOR GOODNESS SAKE, PLEASE KEEP CHRISTIE MOORE OUT OF Y'ALL'S MOUTH.

THAT SITUATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION.

SHE WAS NOT FOUND INELIGIBLE.

PLEASE KEEP CHRISTIE MOORE NAME OUT OF A MOUTH.

THAT'S A DEAD AND OVER SITUATION.

LET'S ADDRESS THIS AREA AT HAND.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]

>> MARICELLA ROMINA, AND THEN FOLLOWING MS. MARICELLA IS SHARON RICHARD.

>> WHEN I START THIS, MY NAME IS MARICELLA ROMINA.

GOOD EVENING, DR. CANTU, SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.

PREPARING TO SPEAK FOR THIS EVENING AS A MOTHER OF FOUR AND A FULL TIME WORKING MOM, I SIMPLY DID NOT HAVE THE TIME TO WRITE ANYTHING.

I REACHED OUT TO A FRIEND OF MINE, SOMEONE WHO LOVES TO WRITE AND ASKED THEM TO DRAFT SOMETHING FOR ME.

SEEING AS THOUGH THERE IS A CURRENT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER WHO WROTE A SPEECH FOR A CANDIDATE DURING THE LAST ELECTION, DOING SO SEEMED ON BRAND WITH THE CURRENT STATE OF MANTLE DIST.

[01:45:01]

ONCE AGAIN, OUR DISTRICT IS IN THE NEWS FOR FAILING TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT.

ANGEL HIDALGO SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PLACED ON THE ELECTION BALLOT.

HE HAS NOW BEEN DEEMED INELIGIBLE.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF THAT LAST WEEK, AND YET HE IS STILL ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNING AND ESSENTIALLY ALREADY CLAIMING THE VICTORY OF BEING APPOINTED TO A SEAT BY THIS BOARD.

WHY DOES HE FEEL SO CONFIDENT IN AN OUTCOME THAT HAS YET TO BE DECIDED? COULD IT BE BECAUSE HE HAS BECOME THE INSTANT FAVORITE OF GROUPS SUCH AS THE REPUBLICAN WOMEN OF TEXAS, OF WHICH THREE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED? HAS THE PROMISE BEEN MADE THAT IF HE CONTINUES THIS FARCE, HE WILL BE GUARANTEED A SEAT.

WHY ARE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SO INTERESTED IN SUPPORTING A CANDIDATE WITH LITERALLY NO TIES TO MANSFIELDISD, SO MUCH SO THAT PRESIDENT WILSON KNOWINGLY ALLOWED HIM TO REMAIN. LET ME FINISH READING IT.

ON THE BALLOT DESPITE HIS INELIGIBILITY.

SEVERAL OF THE MOST RECENTLY ELECTED MEMBERS RAN CAMPAIGNS ON PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN FROM THE BIG BAD DEI AND BOOK MONSTERS.

LASTLY, THEY RAN ON PLATFORMS OF INTEGRITY.

MR. SNEED ALREADY DEFINED INTEGRITY FOR YOU ALSO, I WON'T GO INTO THAT.

SINCE THEN, THERE HAS BEEN ONE DEBACLE AFTER ANOTHER BECAUSE YOU CONTINUE TO SHOW THAT YOU HAVE NONE.

YOU LACK THE INTEGRITY THAT IS NEEDED TO EFFECTIVELY GOVERN OUR DISTRICT.

THE IRONY AND ALL OF THIS IS NOT ONCE HAVE THE STUDENTS, TEACHER, AND FAMILIES OF MANSFIELDISD BEEN CONSIDERED.

BECAUSE IF THEY WERE, THERE'S NO WAY WE WOULD BE IN THIS POSITION.

MANSFIELDISD DESERVES BETTER AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TO ELECT INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK TO SUPPORT ALL STUDENTS AND ALL FAMILIES, NOT JUST THOSE WHO HAVE THE SAME POLITICAL VIEWS.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS ARE AWARE BUT THE LIE FEED IS NOT WORKING TONIGHT AGAIN.

AN INTERESTING COINCIDENCE THAT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A ROW THAT IT'S NOT WORKING.

I WANT TO WORK ON THAT. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT. [APPLAUSE]

>> CHAIR [INAUDIBLE]

>> FOLLOWING HER IS JOANNA CARDOZA.

>> GOOD EVENING, DR. CANTU, PRESIDENT WILSON AND BOARD.

MY NAME IS SHARON RICHARD, AND I HAVE TWO STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT, AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PROUD TO SAY WE'RE PART OF THE MISD COMMUNITY.

I HAVE VOLUNTEERED COUNTLESS HOURS TO SUPPORT OUR AMAZING TEACHERS AND STAFF.

I HAVE PROUDLY SERVED AS AN UNOFFICIAL AMBASSADOR.

A FEW YEARS AGO, THINGS BEGAN TO CHANGE.

WE SAW POLITICS TAKE A FRONT ROW SEAT IN OUR TRUSTEE ELECTIONS.

OUTSIDE GROUPS WITH AN AGENDA WERE WELCOMED BY A SEGMENT OF THIS COMMUNITY.

THAT LED TO DIVISION THAT I'VE NEVER WITNESSED IN THE 12 YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN A PART OF THE MISD COMMUNITY.

I COULD SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL.

I KNEW THAT OUR NEW POLITICIZED BOARD WOULD NOT BE GOOD FOR THE DISTRICT.

WHICH BRINGS US WHERE WE ARE TODAY.

MANSFIELD ISD HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS QUITE A BIT LATELY.

WE ARE NOW THE LAUGHING STOCK OF TARRANT COUNTY.

THIS BOARD HAS BEEN AWARE OF ANGEL HIDALGO'S INELIGIBILITY SINCE EARLY FEBRUARY.

THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS TO DO THE RIGHT THING, INSTEAD YOU WAITED UNTIL THE 11TH HOUR TO FINALLY DECLARE HIM INELIGIBLE.

THIS CAME AFTER NUMEROUS CHALLENGES, COMPLAINTS, AND NEWS REPORTS.

THIS IS UNFAIR TO DR. CRUTCHFIELD, WHO NOT ONLY IS A PART OF THIS COMMUNITY, BUT HAS SERVED IT WITH DISTINCTION FROM THE MOMENT HER CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED.

SHE HAS HAD TO USE TIME, MONEY, AND RESOURCES RUNNING AGAINST SOMEONE WHOSE NAME SHOULD HAVE NEVER APPEARED ON THE BALLOT.

IT IS ALSO WHOLLY UNFAIR TO THE VOTERS, SOME WHO WILL NEVER KNOW THAT THEY VOTED FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE OFFICE.

AS IF THINGS COULDN'T GET ANY WORSE, DR. HIDALGO REVEALED THE ULTIMATE PLAN ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE LAST NIGHT.

THE GOAL IS FOR HIM TO GET THE MOST VOTES AND FORCE A SPECIAL ELECTION IN NOVEMBER.

THIS IS A SINISTER PLOT THAT IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, CONSIDERING THE FUTURE OF OUR STUDENTS IS ON THE LINE.

YOU ALL TOOK AN OATH, YOU HAVE A FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITY.

I CHARGE EACH OF YOU TO GO BACK, READ THAT OATH AND TRULY TAKE IT TO HEART.

BRING BACK INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY, BOTH MATTER.

OUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING, THE COMMUNITY IS WATCHING. THANK YOU.

>> JOANNA CARDOZA.

FOLLOWING HER IS ALLEN TURNER.

>> GOOD EVENING, PRESIDENT WILSON, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DR. CANTU.

MY NAME IS JOANNA CARDOZA.

I AM HERE TONIGHT AS THE MISD PARENT, TAXPAYER AND QUALIFIED MISD VOTER.

ALSO, SPEAKING FOR THE OTHER FOUR QUALIFIED VOTERS IN MY HOUSEHOLD.

I REPEAT QUALIFIED, SOMETHING THIS BOARD SEEMS TO HAVE ISSUES DISTINGUISHING.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND DISCIPLINE OR IN THIS CASE, THE LACK OF.

THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH MISINFORMATION RELEASED TO THE VOTERS OF THIS COMMUNITY IN REGARDS TO THE ELIGIBILITY AND NOW THE INELIGIBILITY OF ANGEL HIDALGO'S ABILITY TO RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD,

[01:50:02]

AND MISD THAT MANY HAVE LOST TRUST IN YOU AND ARE UNFORTUNATELY CONSIDERING A NO VOTE ON THE FIVE BOND PROPOSITIONS.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU EVER CONSIDERED THAT HIRING THE DAUGHTER OF THE DISTRICT'S ATTORNEY TO HANDLE CRITICAL BOARD BUSINESS WOULD EVER BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

ESPECIALLY NOW WHEN SHE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOT MESS THAT PUT MR. HIDALGO ON THE BALLOT AND THE DISTRICT IS PAYING HER FATHER FOR LEGAL ADVICE.

I WILL REMIND YOU THAT MANY OF YOU RAN FOR OFFICE ON DISCIPLINE.

HOW CAN YOU TALK ABOUT STUDENT DISCIPLINE WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN CLEAN YOUR OWN HOUSE.

MY YOUNGEST WILL BE VOTING FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS ELECTION.

IT IS SO UNFORTUNATE THAT I'VE HAD TO EXPLAIN TO HIM HOW POLITICS HAVE NOW BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE CLASSROOM, SOMETHING THAT MANY OF YOU PROMISE TO KEEP OUT WHEN RUNNING FOR OFFICE.

HOW CAN I TALK TO HIM ABOUT FAIR ELECTIONS, THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING THE RULES THAT HIS VOTE WILL COUNT WHEN YOU HAVE TAKEN THAT AWAY FROM US.

MISINFORMATION, LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY, MUTING A VOTER'S VOICE THROUGH A UNFAIR ELECTION AND LACK OF INTEGRITY.

ARE THESE THE VALUES YOU TALKED ABOUT WHILE CAMPAIGNING? I DO AGREE WITH SOME OF THE STATEMENTS AND THE MILLERS THAT WE WERE USED TO SUPPORT SOME OF YOU WHEN RUNNING FOR OFFICE.

WE NEED TO RESTORE ACCOUNTABILITY, RESTORE SANITY, AND IT'S TIME FOR A NEW SCHOOL BOARD. THANK YOU.

>> ALLEN TURNER. CYNTHIA DANIELS, YOU'LL BE AFTER MR. TURNER.

>> GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS ALLEN TURNER.

I HOPE YOU CAN HEAR ME. ARE YOU TIRED? BECAUSE I KNOW I'M TIRED.

I'M TIRED OF FINDING OUT SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY THAT UNDERMINES THE CREDIBILITY OF THIS BOARD.

CLEARLY, INTEGRITY MEANS NOTHING TO ANY OF YOU.

YOU ALL HAVE PURPOSELY WITHHELD INFORMATION FROM THE ELECTORATE AND CONTINUE TO PURPOSELY PUSH AN IN ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE ONTO THE PUBLIC FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF APPOINTING YOUR OWN CANDIDATE, WHY? OTHER OUTSIDE FORCES INFLUENCING YOUR DECISIONS TO STONEWALL, DECEIVE AND OUTRIGHT LIE TO THE PUBLIC.

OUR COMMUNITY, WE WANT TO DEMAND ANSWERS, SO I'M PUBLICLY CALLING FOR THE RESIGNATION OF OUR CURRENT SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT.

I AM PUBLICLY ASKING FOR THE RESIGNATION OF OUR CURRENT SCHOOL BOARD VICE PRESIDENT, WHO IS PRESIDENT OF THE POLITICAL GROUP THAT HAS BEEN SUPPORTING THE INELIGIBLE CANDIDATE WHILE HE AND HIS CAMPAIGN CONTINUE TO DEFAME DR. JEN DELL CRUTCHFIELD, THE ONLY ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE FOR PLACE 2.

THIS SAME POLITICAL GROUP HOLDS IN ITS LEADERSHIP, TWO MORE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS.

ONE OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS SERVES AS SECRETARY OF THIS GROUP WHILE THE OTHER, OF COURSE, SERVES AS THE WIFE OF THE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER.

I HAVE TO ASK AGAIN, ONE HAS TO WONDER, ARE YOU FOUR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS BEING INFLUENCED BY OUTSIDE FORCES? IT TRULY IS DISGRACEFUL AND DISGUSTING.

THIS COMMUNITY IS WATCHING.

SINCE YOU ALL REFUSE TO ACT WITH ANY INTEGRITY, WE, THE COMMUNITY WILL START HOLDING YOU ACCOUNTABLE. THANK YOU.

>> MISS DANIELS AND THEN NIGEL LEWIS.

>> I'M SHORT. HI. MY NAME IS CYNTHIA DANIELS.

EVERY YEAR, WE ARE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY A PROOF OF RESIDENCY FOR EACH CHILD.

WHY? ACCOUNTABILITY THAT I LIVE WHERE I SAY I LIVE.

IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS, STUDENTS HAVE TO GO THROUGH EVOLVE SCANNERS, WHY? ACCOUNTABILITY THEY AREN'T BRINGING WEAPONS INTO THE SCHOOL.

I COULD GO ON WITH SO MANY EXAMPLES OF HOW MISD REQUIRES THAT PARENTS, STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ARE HELD TO HIGH STANDARDS OF ACCOUNTABILITY.

I AM NOT SEEING THAT FROM THIS BOARD.

WHY? WHILE I AM APPRECIATIVE THAT THE BOARD FINALLY DECLARED HIDALGO INELIGIBLE, IT WAS TOO LATE.

HIS VOTER REGISTRATION WAS VERIFIED WHEN HE APPLIED TO RUN, BUT HE WASN'T REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY.

THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT ON JANUARY 30, MAKING HIM INELIGIBLE.

HE DIDN'T REGISTER TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY UNTIL AFTER THE DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR SCHOOL BOARD.

INFORMATION FROM THE FOIA TELLS US PRESIDENT WILSON KNEW ON FEBRUARY 7TH THAT THE PHONE NUMBER PROVIDED BY HIDALGO ON HIS APPLICATION WAS, IN FACT, NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY.

THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE PERFECT TIME TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE BYLAWS THAT CLEARLY STATE WHAT MAKES A CANDIDATE ELIGIBLE TO RUN FOR OFFICE, BUT NOBODY DID.

[01:55:01]

IT TOOK NO TIME FOR ARLINGTON ISD WHERE HIDALGO HAD ORIGINALLY APPLIED TO RUN TO DETERMINE THAT THE ADDRESS HE SUBMITTED WAS ACTUALLY LOCATED IN MISD.

AISD SEEMS TO HAVE BETTER ACCOUNTABILITY THAN MISD.

THAT MAKES ME SAD.

THEN IN MARCH, THE BOARD WAS CONTACTED BY THE TARRANT COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE ABOUT IF A DECISION HAD BEEN MADE ABOUT HIDALGO'S STATUS ON THE BALLOT AND WERE INSTRUCTED BY LES OR ATTORNEY TO THE SCHOOL BOARD TO PUT HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT.

THIS WAS PASSED THE DATE TO APPLY FOR SCHOOL BOARD AND PASS THE DATE TO HAVE ANYONE'S NAME REMOVED FROM THE BALLOT, BUT IT'S OKAY TO HAVE HIDALGO'S NAME ADDED TO THE BALLOT WHEN HE WASN'T ELIGIBLE TO RUN IN THE FIRST PLACE AND YOU KNEW THAT.

WHO IS GOING TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS HUGE FIASCO? HOW WILL YOU ALL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE SINCE WE CAN'T FIRE YOU? THERE HAS BEEN NO TRANSPARENCY THROUGH THIS PROCESS, ONLY LAME EXCUSES THAT DON'T HOLD UP.

AS PARENTS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS, WE ARE FED UP.

I APPLAUD TRUSTEE THOMAS FOR HANDING OVER A TEXT MESSAGE THAT SHE HAD PERTAINING TO HIDALGO AND THE ELECTION, BUT WHERE ARE THE OTHER TEXTS AND EMAILS? WHERE IS PRESIDENT WILSON'S SAME TEXT MESSAGE? ARE THOSE THE MESSAGES CURRENTLY NOT BEING RELEASED THAT MIKE LESER IS TRYING TO HAVE THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SUPPRESSED BY CLAIMING ATTORNEY CLIENT PRIVILEGE? WE DESERVE ANSWERS.

WE DESERVE TO HAVE THESE WRONGS RIGHTED AND DR. CRUTCHFIELD DESERVES A PUBLIC APOLOGY.

YOU ALL RAN FOR SCHOOL BOARD, PUT YOURSELF IN HER SHOES.

I REALIZE NONE OF YOU GET PAID FOR BEING ON THE SCHOOL BOARD, BUT YOU DO WORK FOR THE COMMUNITY THAT ELECTED YOU, AND THERE WILL BE A WHOLE LOT OF ELIGIBLE STUDENTS WHO WON'T FORGET WHEN THREE OF YOU ARE RUNNING NEXT YEAR FOR RE ELECTION.

PLEASE SHOW THE INTEGRITY THAT YOU LOVE TO CLAIM YOU HAVE AND HOLD EVERYONE INVOLVED ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE HIDALGO IS STILL FULLY CAMPAIGNING AND TALKING ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HE WINS.

DR. CRUTCHFIELD IS THE ONLY ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE FOR PLACE 2. THANK YOU.

>> NIGEL, AND THEN CHETEMA FRANCIS WILL BE AFTER MR. LEWIS.

>> I HAVE THE AUDACITY TO BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE EVERYWHERE CAN HAVE THREE MEALS A DAY FOR THEIR BODIES, EDUCATION, AND CULTURE FOR THEIR MINDS, AND DIGNITY, EQUALITY AND FREEDOM FOR THEIR SPIRITS, DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING.

I'M JUST FLABBERGASTED BY ALL THE THINGS I'VE HAD TO LISTEN TO AND HEAR OVER TODAY AND THE WEEKS HAVE COME.

I AGREE ABSOLUTELY WITH EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN SAID.

IT'S DEPLORABLE TO SEE WHAT HAS GONE ON HERE.

IT'S BENEATH THE CAPACITY OF EVERYONE IN THE EXECUTIVE POSITION ON THE BOARD.

MORE SO THAN THAT, IT UNDERMINES EVERYTHING THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS BEEN WORKING TOWARDS TO TRY TO GET ALL OF OUR KIDS WELL EDUCATED.

IT PUTS SUPERINTENDENT CANTU IN A BOX, BECAUSE SHE HAS TO LEAD HER STAFF, HER DIRECTORS, HER EXECUTIVE TEAM, THE JANITORS, THE CUSTODIANS, THE YARD, THE PEOPLE WHO ARE PREPARING THE FOODS, THE COUNSELORS, THE PARAPROFESSIONAL.

THEY'RE ALL LOOKING UP AND SAYING, WHO'S MY LEADER? CAN I TRUST WHAT THEY'RE SAYING? BECAUSE THE WORDS THAT HAVE COME OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS ARE HOLLOW.

WORDS ARE ONE THING, DEEDS ARE ANOTHER.

WHEN YOU SAID ON 418 THAT THIS PERSON HAS BEEN INELIGIBLE, I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THAT MEANS NOW.

BECAUSE INELIGIBLE, IF I DON'T PASS AN EXAM, I'M INELIGIBLE TO GO TO THE NEXT GRADE.

IF I FAIL THE STAR, AND I'M A SENIOR, THEN I'M INELIGIBLE TO GRADUATE. IT'S PRETTY CLEAR.

BUT WHEN I SEE ON 418 WHAT HAPPENED, ONCE YOU CAME WITH A DECISION TO SAY THAT YOU WERE INELIGIBLE, I GO TO A LUNCHEON AND SEE FOUR CANDIDATES UP THERE AND IT SHOULD BE THREE.

[APPLAUSE] I SEE THE EXECUTIVE TEAM THERE AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY, YOU'RE INELIGIBLE.

THAT MEANS YOU CANNOT GO FORWARD TO CAMPAIGN.

WHEN YOU DON'T SAY THAT, THAT MEANS THAT YOU'RE COMPLICIT TO IT.

WHETHER YOU SAY IT OR NOT, THE PUBLIC IS SEEING THAT.

THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN ONE DAY IN THE AFTERNOON, IT HAPPENED IN THE EVENING AS WELL.

AGAIN, YOU SAID THE FOUR CANDIDATES ARE UP THERE HOLDING UP SIGNS AND TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEY PROMOTE.

BUT IT SHOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN THREE, AND THE DIALOGUE SHOULD ONLY BEEN WITH THREE SO THE PUBLIC CAN REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THE CANDIDATES WILL BE ABLE TO HELP US MOVE FORWARD.

BUT THE LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE

[02:00:01]

UNDERMINES EVERYTHING THAT DR. CANTU VISION 2030, THE TEAM AROUND HERE HAVE BEEN DOING, THE AWESOME PRESENTATIONS THAT WE'VE HEARD FROM HER STAFF.

IT'S GOING TO MAKE IT VERY HARD FOR US TO ATTRACT NEW TALENT, RETAIN THE CURRENT TALENT AND HIRE ALL THE FOLKS THAT WE INTERVIEWED ON APRIL 20TH TO GET THEM TO COME.

I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH THAT, I'M OVER TIME.

I PRAY THAT YOU HEAR AND LISTEN AND ACT ON WHAT YOU'VE HEARD TODAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. [APPLAUSE]

>> THANK YOU. CHETEMA FRANCIS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED BY CHRISTINE TAYLOR.

>> HI. I'M CHETEMA FRANCIS.

I'M A RESIDENT OF MANSFIELD.

I'M GOING TO BE REALLY QUICK BECAUSE I HAVE A LOT TO SAY.

THERE ARE TWO TOPICS I WANT TO TALK ABOUT THAT'S ON THE AGENDA.

THE RESIGNATIONS.

I TALKED ABOUT THIS LAST YEAR. WE HAVE A LOT OF THEM.

THERE'S A REASON THESE PEOPLE ARE LIVING AND IT IS NOT ALL BECAUSE THEY HAVE 30 YEARS.

THEY'VE PROVIDED THEM.

I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO ACTUALLY READ THOSE ABSTRACTS AND THE STUFF THAT GETS PUT OUT TO THE PUBLIC.

BOARD MEMBERS, THIS IS NOT JUST DR. CANTU'S JOB.

IT'S YOURS. YOU'RE AT THE TOP OF THE HR FOOD CHAIN.

I'M NOT SURE IF YOU'RE AWARE OF THAT BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS ARE FAMILIAR WITH WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A FIDUCIARY.

YOU GET TO ASK QUESTIONS.

WE NEED TO KNOW WHY ALL OUR GOOD TALENT IS LEAVING.

THE GENTLEMAN WHO'S HAPPY THAT THEY GOT AN ART TEACHER AT DALTON, THE ISSUE WAS BECAUSE HALF OF OUR SCHOOLS DIDN'T HAVE TEACHERS.

YOU HAD SUBS AND UNTRAINED PEOPLE.

THAT'S WHY THE KIDS WERE HAVING TROUBLE.

WHY IS THAT? THAT'S THE BOARD.

YOU GUYS GET TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY WE CANNOT RETAIN TALENT, WHY WE CAN'T KEEP OUR TEACHERS AND OUR PARENTS? WHY ARE THEY UNHAPPY AND LEAVING AND GOING TO ARLINGTON AND DUNCANVILLE AND EVERYWHERE THAT AIN'T MANSFIELD? BECAUSE THEY'RE MISERABLE.

THAT'S JUST ONE. MY SECOND ISSUE IS YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY.

THAT IS ON HERE. I DON'T KNOW WHO PREPARED THAT SCORECARD.

IT LOOKS LIKE A PR, SOME LITTLE MARKETING PROMOTIONAL SET OF MATERIALS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY WAY TO EVEN KNOW WHAT RUBRIC WOULD USE.

WHO DID YOU ASK? YOURSELVES? BECAUSE I DON'T THINK ANYBODY ASKED THE PUBLIC.

DID YOU ASK THE TEACHERS? BECAUSE THEY AIN'T HAPPY. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE LEAVING.

I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU GUYS ARE GIVING YOURSELF SUCH GLOWING RATINGS BECAUSE IT'S NOT DESERVED.

WE PASSED A BOND THAT YOU HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED SPENDING THE MONEY AND GOT YOUR HAND OUT ASKING FOR SOME MORE MONEY FROM THE LAST TIME.

THIS DISTRICT HAS TRIED, THE PARENTS, WE LOVE THE SCHOOLS, WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS. WE WANT TO KEEP THEM.

YOU GUYS WANT TO SHUFFLE EVERYBODY AROUND LIKE CHEST PIECES BECAUSE YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR CHILDREN.

YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO ASK QUESTIONS.

IF YOU READ THIS INFORMATION, I'M SORRY, I GOT TO MOVE FAST.

THERE'S TYPOS, WHATEVER THE CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS ARE, THE TOTALS DON'T EVEN ADD UP.

GO LOOK, DOES ANYBODY PROOFREAD ANYTHING BEFORE YOU PUT IT OUT THERE? I AM CONFUSED ABOUT WHO HAS WHAT AMOUNTS OF HOURS BECAUSE THOSE TOTALS DON'T GO ACROSS ONCE YOU START FROM THE SECOND ROW.

AGAIN, THEY TALKED ABOUT THIS EARLIER.

THINGS ARE GETTING APPROVED.

YOU SAID SOMEBODY WAS A CANDIDATE AND THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN.

WHERE IS THE OVERSIGHT? THAT'S THE BOARD'S JOB.

YOU'RE NOT DOING YOUR JOB. NO ONE.

YOU TELL KIDS TAKE A TEST, LET ME DECIDE WHAT YOU KNOW.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW.

YOU'RE FAILING ON EVERY SINGLE LEVEL.

WE DON'T WANT TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER DIME BECAUSE WE CAN'T TRUST YOU.

YOU SPENT FOUR-AND-A-HALF MILLION DOLLARS ON THURSDAY.

NOT ONE OF YOU ASKED A SINGLE QUESTION.

NOT ONE OF YOU ASKED, WHY WERE WE SPENDING $2,100 A LAPTOP? AND YOU JUST PASSED THAT MONEY OUT? WHY WOULD WE GIVE YOU ANOTHER RED CENT?

>> THANK YOU.

>> YOU NEED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

>> THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] CHRISTINE TAYLOR?

>> GOOD EVENING. MY NAME IS CHRISTINE TAYLOR, AND I AM A 17-YEAR EDUCATOR.

IN MY CAREER, I WAS GIVEN TWICE THE TOY AWARD, THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

I STAND HERE WITH THE NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION IN MY BACK POCKET.

BEFORE MAY 25 OF 2023, I WAS A MANSFIELD ISD SCHOOL TEACHER.

I WALKED AWAY FROM THIS DISTRICT IN A CAREER I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE SITTING IN FRONT OF ME.

YOU MADE A DECISION LAST YEAR, AND YOU CAMPAIGNED AND YOU TALK TO THESE KIDS AND LISTEN TO THEM WHILE ROLLING YOUR EYES.

THE NEXT MORNING THEY WERE IN MY ROOM

[02:05:01]

CRYING BECAUSE THEY DID NOT FEEL WELCOME IN THIS DISTRICT.

THEY DID NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS DISTRICT.

YOUR JOB IS NOT TO WORK FOR YOU.

YOU TAKE YOUR CHART, YOU FLIP IT UPSIDE DOWN.

YOU PUT THE KIDS WHERE THEY BELONG.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE TELLING DR. CANTU WHAT TO DO.

SHE'S SUPPORTING EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE STAFF.

SHE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A VOICE, BUT I TRULY FEEL THAT SHE'S LOCKED BEHIND YOU.

MY KIDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH YOU AND LOOK AT YOU AS AN EXAMPLE.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THIS KID IN EVERY DISTRICT IN EVERY SINGLE CHILD, WHETHER THEY LOOK LIKE YOU, BELIEVE LIKE YOU, WALK LIKE YOU, TALK LIKE YOU, HAVE THE SAME RELIGION.

THEY SHOULD FEEL SAFE IN THIS ROOM.

I WANT TO POINT ONE THING OUT THAT DISTURBED ME GREATLY TODAY.

YOU OPENED UP WITH A PRAYER.

I'M A CHRISTIAN. THAT'S AWESOME.

BUT IF MY KIDS HAD BEEN SETTING IN HERE THAT ARE ISLAMIC, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE FELT WELCOME.

[APPLAUSE] NOT AT ALL.

YOU ARE A DIVERSE DISTRICT AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW THOSE KIDS FEEL.

YOU'RE GIVING THEM AN EXAMPLE RIGHT NOW THAT IS WITHOUT INTEGRITY.

LET ME PUT IT TO YOU THIS WAY.

IF ONE OF MY KIDS CHEATED ON A TEST, IT WAS A ZERO BECAUSE THEY LACKED INTEGRITY.

IN THIS DISTRICT, YOU DON'T MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS, WE'RE GOING TO OVERLOOK THAT.

THAT'S OKAY.

ALL I'M ASKING YOU IS TO SHOW AN EXAMPLE WHERE YOU SERVE THOSE KIDS.

BECAUSE I KNOW THE MISD PEOPLE IN THIS ROOM AND I WORKED WITH THESE PEOPLE AND THEY ARE AMAZING, AND THEY WORK THEIR TAIL ENDS OFF.

SO MAKE SURE YOU GUYS KNOW THAT.

THE TEACHERS IN THIS DISTRICT WORK THEIR TAIL ENDS OFF.

I JUST WISH YOU WOULD TOO.

I WISH YOU WOULD PUT THE DIVERSE COMMUNITY FIRST AND NOT YOUR PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE]
