>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, DR. [INAUDIBLE] AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.
I'M HONORED AND EXCITED TO BE NAMED THE DIRECTOR OF DIGITAL MEDIA AND MARKETING HERE AT MANSFIELD ISD.
MARKETING HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PASSION OF MINE, AND I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE MANSFIELD'S STORIES.
THEY'RE VERY IMPORTANT, SO I'M VERY EXCITED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
I'VE BEEN IN THIS POSITION FOR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH NOW, AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT-OUT TO MY TEAMMATES.
THEY HAVE PUT SOME INCREDIBLE WORK OUT THERE AND THEY'RE JUST PHENOMENAL.
MY BOYFRIEND'S HERE TO SUPPORT ME.
THE REST OF MY FAMILY COULDN'T BE HERE BECAUSE THEY LIVE IN NEW JERSEY.
I'M REALLY GRATEFUL FOR HIM TO BE HERE AND TO BE MY SUPPORT SYSTEM.
>> NEXT UP WE HAVE BOBBY NICHOLSON.

>> GOOD EVENING BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, DR. [INAUDIBLE] AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.
IT IS TRULY AN HONOR AND A BLESSING TO BE NAMED THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS AT MANSFIELD ISD.
WITH THIS WILL COME A WHOLE LOT OF PRIDE IN EVERYTHING I DO TO CONTINUE THE SUCCESS AND LEADERSHIP AND MENTORSHIP OF OUR STAFF, STUDENTS, ADMINISTRATION, BOARD, AND EMPLOYEES AT MANSFIELD ISD.
I'M SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THAT, AND I'M SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY. THANK YOU AGAIN.
MY BIGGEST SUPPORT SYSTEM WITH ME TONIGHT HERE IS MY WIFE OF 25 YEARS,
[00:30:04]
AND SHE'S ALSO PUT IN HER WORK IN EDUCATION.SHE'S GOT 31 YEARS COMPLETE, SO SHE IS A RETIREE.
WELL, SHE COACHED FOR 31 YEARS AND TAUGHT.
NOT JOINING US TONIGHT, WE HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS AND THEY'RE GROWN AND OUT OF THE HOUSE, BOOM.
[LAUGHTER] MY OLDEST DAUGHTER IS 23, AND SHE'S A THIRD-GRADE TEACHER.
SHE GRADUATED FROM TALTON STATE UNIVERSITY, IN DECEMBER.
SHE'S A THIRD-GRADE TEACHER RIGHT NOW AT STEPHENVILLE.
ONE OF THE ELEMENTARY IS IN STEPHENVILLE.
MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER IS 21, AND SHE RODEOS AT RANGER JUNIOR COLLEGE.
SHE BREAKAWAY ROPES AND TEAM ROPES.
GOT THAT FROM HER MAMA, WHICH RODEOED AT TEXAS TECH.
WE ARE SUPER EXCITED, MY DAUGHTERS ARE SUPER EXCITED TO BE PART OF THE MANSFIELD ISD FAMILY, AND MY FEET HIT THE GROUND RUNNING ON MONDAY, AND IT'S WHAT A DISTRICT.
THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
>> SORRY ABOUT THAT, I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THAT ALL NIGHT.
I'LL DO IT AGAIN IN A MINUTE WHEN Y'ALL GO TO SLEEP.
DR. [INAUDIBLE] IF YOU NOW MOVE ON TO [INAUDIBLE] INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS.
[8. Instructional Focus]
LEAN TAMPIN, AND STEPHANIE MARTINEZ, AND MICHELLE WOODALL, WHOSE NAME ISN'T ON THERE.
SHE'S OUR SURPRISE GUEST FOR TONIGHT'S PRESENTATION IN OUR INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS.
>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, DR. [INAUDIBLE] AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.
IT'S OUR PLEASURE TO BE HERE TONIGHT TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
WHAT IS CTE? WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THE CAREERS THAT EXIST IN OUR ECONOMY, THOSE ARE DIVIDED INTO 13 DIFFERENT CAREER CLUSTERS.
IF YOU THINK ABOUT NURSING, THAT WOULD FALL UNDER HEALTH SCIENCE.
IF YOU THINK ABOUT PLUMBING AND CARPENTRY, THAT WOULD FALL UNDER ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION.
IN MANSFIELD ISD, WE OFFER 13 DIFFERENT CAREER CLUSTERS TO OUR STUDENTS.
WITHIN THAT WE HAVE 26 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS OF STUDY.
WE ARE PART OF THE TEXAS 60 BY 30 STRATEGIC PLAN.
THAT GOAL IS THAT 60% OF THE WORKFORCE IN TEXAS, IS GOING TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF INDUSTRY CREDENTIAL OR DEGREE THAT'S GOING TO MAKE THEM HIGHLY SKILLED AND EMPLOYABLE, SO OUR TEXAS ECONOMY CAN REMAIN STRONG.
TYPICALLY THAT HAD FALLEN ON THE SHOULDERS OF OUR HIGHER ED PARTNERS, OUR TWO-YEAR PROGRAMS AND OUR FOUR YEAR PROGRAMS. BUT NOW HIGH SCHOOLS ARE PART OF THAT MIX.
THAT'S BECAUSE WE OFFER THOSE INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS SO OUR STUDENTS CAN GRADUATE CAREER-READY AND GO STRAIGHT INTO THE WORKFORCE.
IN CTE, WE LOVE MIKE ROE, AND THAT'S BECAUSE HE REALLY SHED A LIGHT ON THOSE MID-SKILLED JOBS.
WE HAVE LOW-SKILLED, MID-SKILL, AND HIGH-SKILLED JOBS.
HIGH-SKILLED JOBS ARE THOSE THAT REQUIRE TYPICALLY A FOUR-YEAR OR A GRADUATE DEGREE.
MID-SKILLED JOBS ARE THOSE THAT REQUIRE A CERTIFICATION OR A CREDENTIAL BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL, BUT NOT NECESSARILY A FOUR-YEAR DEGREE.
THE LOW-SKILLED JOBS ARE TYPICALLY THOSE THAT REQUIRE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA.
WHAT MIKE DID WHEN HE STARTED DIRTY JOBS SO LONG AGO, IS HE STARTED HIGHLIGHTING ALL THOSE CAREERS LIKE PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS, THOSE CAREERS THAT REALLY KEEP OUR ECONOMY GOING.
HE STARTED TO SHED LIGHT ON THE FACT THAT THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE RETIRING IN MID-SKILLED JOBS THAN THERE ARE YOUNG PEOPLE GOING INTO THOSE JOBS.
NOW WE ARE LEFT WITH WHAT'S CALLED A SKILLS GAP.
IN THIS PICTURE, MIKE ROE, HAS HIS DIPLOMA ON THE LEFT AND HE LOOKS SAD.
I THINK WE ALL HAVE RECOGNIZED AND KNOWN SOMEONE IN OUR LIFE THAT WORKED REALLY HARD TO GET A FOUR-YEAR DEGREE.
THEY GRADUATED AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND A JOB.
THAT'S WHY IN CTE, WE HAVE TO BE VERY AWARE AND ALIGN OUR PROGRAMS WITH THE CURRENT AND FUTURE JOB MARKET, BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT OUR STUDENTS TO PUT IN ALL THAT WORK.
GET A DEGREE OR A CREDENTIAL THAT'S NOT VALUABLE AND ISN'T GOING TO LEAD THEM TO EMPLOYMENT.
[00:35:02]
IN MANSFIELD ISD, WE HAVE OVER 12,000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.WE SERVE ALMOST 30% OF THOSE STUDENTS IN SOME CAPACITY IN CTE.
WE OFFER CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT ALL FIVE OF OUR TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS, AS WELL AS THE MAJORITY OF OUR CTE CLASSES ARE OFFERED AT BEN BARBER.
WE SERVE ABOUT 1,800 STUDENTS EACH SESSION.
THAT'S TWO SESSIONS A DAY, TWO SESSIONS ON A DAY, AND TWO SESSIONS ON B DAY.
WE HAVE EVEN STARTED TO OFFER CTE CLASSES TO OUR EIGHTH-GRADE STUDENTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT.
WE SERVE ABOUT 1,200 STUDENTS THIS SEMESTER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.
IF YOU'LL THINK BACK TO OUR BOND PRESENTATION THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN ALL OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS, YOU'LL SEE THAT IN PROPOSITION A, CTE IS PART OF THAT BOND PACKAGE.
THAT'S BECAUSE WE WANT TO EXPAND.
OUR COMMUNITY IS SUPER SUPPORTIVE OF CTE.
WE ACTUALLY HAD TO TURN AWAY ALMOST 1,000 STUDENTS FROM BEING ABLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO THESE PROGRAMS. SPECIFICALLY IN MANUFACTURING, ENGINEERING, AUTOMOTIVE, AND COMPUTER SCIENCE.
THOSE FOUR PROGRAMS ARE ALSO THOSE MID-SKILLED JOBS THAT ARE GOING TO LEAD STUDENTS DIRECTLY INTO EMPLOYMENT.
CTE HAS HAD AN INTERESTING HISTORY IN MANSFIELD ISD.
WE STARTED ALL THE WAY BACK IN 1975.
WE WERE SMALL BUT MIGHTY, AND WE HAD A FACILITY LOCATED RIGHT BEHIND WESTERN MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WE WERE SO FORTUNATE THAT IN 2005, BIN BARBER INNOVATION ACADEMY WAS BUILT, AND OUR GROWTH JUST EXPLODED AT THAT POINT.
BEN BARBER WAS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE FIRST CTE CENTERS IN THIS AREA, AND IT WAS A FLAGSHIP FOR ALL OTHER DISTRICTS TO COME SEE WHAT WE WERE DOING.
WITH THAT GROWTH, WE WENT TO A BOND PACKAGE IN 2011 AND WE WERE ABLE TO EXPAND, AND GET A SMART HOSPITAL BUILT, A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LABORATORY SPACE BUILT.
WE WERE ABLE TO RENOVATE SAVVY'S BISTRO FOR OUR CULINARY STUDENTS.
WE ADDED A PRINT SHOP FOR ARTS AND AV STUDENTS AND WE ADDED THE RON WHITSON AGRICULTURE CENTER FOR OUR AGRICULTURE STUDENTS.
I WILL TELL YOU THAT EXPANSION PIECE WAS CRITICAL DURING COVID WHEN OUR HEALTH SCIENCE STUDENTS WERE NOT ABLE TO GO TO THEIR INTERNSHIP SITES BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO INTERACT WITH PATIENTS BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC AND WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE OPERATIONS, AND WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO CERTIFY STUDENTS AND GET THEM READY TO FILL THOSE JOBS AS SOON AS THEY GRADUATED.
AS YOU KNOW, VISION 2030, WE ALL KNOW VERY WELL, AND THE BIG PIECE OF THAT, THAT APPLIES TO CTE IS THAT COLLEGE CAREER AND LIFE READINESS PIECE.
I'D LIKE TO END MY SECTION TODAY WITH BRAGGING ON A COUPLE OF OUR GRADUATES FROM 2023.
AUDREY ON THE LEFT, SHE IS ONE OF OUR MANSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL RECENT GRADUATES, DURING HER SENIOR YEAR SHE GOT A CERTIFICATION THAT ALLOWED HER TO START WORK AT MEDICAL CITY RIGHT AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AS A PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN.
WE DON'T KNOW WHAT AUDREY'S PLANS WILL BE FOREVER SHE MAY WORK IN THAT CAPACITY FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE AND RETIRE.
SHE MAY GO ON TO GET A NURSING DEGREE, BUT WE GAVE HER A GREAT START INTO A CAREER BY THE PROGRAMS WE OFFER IN MANSFIELD.
THEN NICHOLAS ON THE RIGHT, HE'S ONE OF OUR LEGACY GRADUATES, HE DID HIS INTERNSHIP IN PRACTICUM CONSTRUCTION THROUGH TUTOR ELECTRIC, WHICH IS ONE OF OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
AND THEY LOVED HIM SO MUCH, THEY OFFERED HIM AN APPRENTICESHIP SO HE IS NOW AN ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE, DOING FANTASTIC.
WE CHECK IN WITH HIM REGULARLY BECAUSE TUTOR ELECTRIC IS ONE OF OUR PARTNERS AND HE'S JUST THRIVING IN HIS NEW CAREER.
I'M GOING TO TURN IT OVER NOW TO STEPHANIE MARTINEZ, AND SHE'S GOING TO TALK ABOUT HOW WE KNOW OUR CTE PROGRAMS ARE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY.
>> THANK YOU. WHEN WE TALK ABOUT A HIGH QUALITY CTE PROGRAM THAT LOOKS LIKE WORK BASED LEARNING CONNECTION TO INDUSTRY, EARNING CREDENTIALS WITH THOSE IBCS, THOSE INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS AND PARTICIPATION IN THOSE CTSOS, THOSE ARE OUR CAREER TECH STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS SO WITH THAT WORK BASED LEARNING CONNECTION TO INDUSTRY THAT IS GOING TO START DAY 1 AS SOON AS THOSE STUDENTS WALK INTO THAT CTE CLASSROOM.
THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE IBCS THAT WE OFFER.
WE OFFER OVER 40 CTE CERTIFICATIONS HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD,
[00:40:02]
JUST TO NAME A FEW THAT MAY LOOK FAMILIAR.I WON'T GO THROUGH ALL OF THEM, BUT THERE'S ADOBE AND THAT'S FOR OUR DIGITAL CREATORS, OUR ARTS AND AV PROGRAM USES ADOBE.
THEN WE HAVE FIVE IN OUR HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM, AND SO THAT'S REALLY EXCITING.
IT GIVES STUDENTS THOSE SKILLS IN PHLEBOTOMY IN FIRM TECH, JUST TO NAME A COUPLE.
HERE YOU CAN SEE THE GROWTH AND WHEN I SAY GROWTH, I MEAN THE GROWTH IN THE NUMBER OF IBCS THAT HAVE BEEN EARNED.
IN 2017, WE HAD 143 IBCS THAT WERE EARNED, AND LAST YEAR OVER 1,300.
I HAVE TO SAY THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE ROCK STARS.
THEY ARE CONTINUOUSLY LOOKING AT ALIGNING THOSE TEST OBJECTIVES AND THE INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND THE STATE STANDARDS TO MAKE SURE THE STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL ON THESE EXAMS AND THAT JUST PROVIDES MORE OPPORTUNITIES.
WE LOVE BRAGGING APPARENTLY, SO WE'RE GOING TO START BRAGGING AGAIN.
WE ARE NOW IN OUR COMPETITION SEASON AND IT'S GOING TO BE BUSY, BUT IT'S GREAT.
THESE ARE ALL OF OUR CTSOS THAT ARE GOING TO NATIONALS AND SO THAT'S OUR BPA, OUR BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS.
WE HAVE TWO STUDENTS GOING TO CHICAGO IN MAY, TAFE, WHICH IS OUR FUTURE EDUCATORS SO WE HAVE 13 STUDENTS TRAVELING TO WASHINGTON, DC IN JUNE.
DECA, WHICH IS OUR BUSINESS ORGANIZATION WE HAVE 10 STUDENTS TRAVELING TO ANAHEIM IN APRIL.
PRO START, THAT'S OUR CULINARY ARTS AND RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT, CTSO, AND WE HAVE NINE STUDENTS TRAVELING TO BALTIMORE IN APRIL.
WE'RE GOING TO SEE ABOUT HOSA AND SKILLS USA THAT'S COMING UP AND THAT'S GOING TO BE APRIL 4 THROUGH 8.
I'M JUST GOING TO HIGHLIGHT, SO WE ACKNOWLEDGED ALL OF OUR AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE BOARD MEETINGS FROM LAST SCHOOL YEAR, BUT I DO WANT TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF OUR ORGANIZATIONS SO JUST SO YOU COULD SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE.
WE HAVE PRO START AND THEY'RE GOING TO BE OVER ON THE LEFT AND IN OUR PRO START, THEY WERE SECOND PLACE LAST YEAR IN NATIONALS, THEY WERE FIRST PLACE IN 22, SO HOPEFULLY THEY WILL EARN THAT FIRST PLACE AGAIN AND THEN WE HAVE OUR BPA AND THEY WERE FIRST PLACE IN NATIONALS LAST YEAR.
THEN WE ALSO HAVE OUR SKILLS USA, FIRST PLACE STATE, AND WE HAVE OUR FFA GRAND CHAMPION, AND THEN HOSA, ALSO ONE OF OUR NATIONAL AND STATE WINNERS.
THIS PART IS REALLY EXCITING, JUST BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A LONG WORK IN PROGRESS.
OUR AMERICAN CULINARY FEDERATION, WE NOW HAVE THAT ACCREDITATION WITH OUR CULINARY ART STUDENTS AND SO WE ARE THE SECOND HIGH SCHOOL IN THE STATE OF TEXAS TO OFFER THIS, AND WE ARE THE FIRST HIGH SCHOOL WITH BAKING AND PASTRY.
THAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR OUR STUDENTS BECAUSE IT'S ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO BE CERTIFIED AND THEY DO NOT HAVE TO TEST SO AS LONG AS THEY MEET THOSE COURSE REQUIREMENTS, THEY ARE CERTIFIED.
THIS IS JUST A HIGHLIGHT OF WHAT WORK BASED LEARNING LOOKS LIKE AT BEN BARBER.
THESE ARE OUR BROADCAST STUDENTS.
WE REALLY WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THIS PICTURE BECAUSE THESE STUDENTS ARE ALSO WORKING IN OUR COMMUNITY AND THEY'RE WORKING FOR OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT AND YOU WILL HEAR THEM AND SEE THEM AT OUR SPORTING EVENTS.
THEN I'M SURE SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN TO SAVVY'S BISTRO.
IF YOU HAVEN'T, WE'RE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THREE DAYS A WEEK.
THESE ARE OUR STUDENTS THAT WORK AT SAVVY'S BISTRO.
THESE ARE THE STUDENTS WHO ARE IN PRACTICUM, SO THEY HAVE BUILT THESE SKILLS SINCE DAY 1 IN THE CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM, EVERYTHING FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE TO THE BACK OF THE HOUSE, AND YOU WILL SEE THEM IN ACTION IF YOU EVER GO SIT DOWN AND EAT AT SAVVY'S.
TURN IT OVER TO MICHELLE WOODALL.
MICHELLE, WHAT UP? I LOVE MY MICHELLES.
>> WELL, I KNOW IT'S AWFULLY CONFUSING AS WELL, SINCE I'M NOT ON THE AGENDA.
PRESIDENT WILSON, DR. CANTU, AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO CRASH THIS EVENING.
I WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN TOWN, BUT I DO HAVE FOMO AND CTE IS MY FIRST PASSION, MY FIRST LOVE SO I WANTED TO CRASH THE PARTY AND BE ABLE TO PRESENT FOR YOU GUYS TONIGHT.
REALLY, THE BREAD AND BUTTER OF CTE IS POST SECONDARY SUCCESS.
MAKING SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ALL KNOW WHAT THEIR NEXT STEPS ARE.
WE ARE REALLY PROUD OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS THAT WE HAVE WITH THE CITY OF MANSFIELD AND OUR BUSINESSES WITHIN OUR CITY BORDERS BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, WE WANT OUR KIDDOS TO STAY HERE, TO RAISE THEIR FAMILIES HERE, AND TO CONTINUE TO GIVE BACK TO OUR CITY AND OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.
ONE OF THE PROJECTS THAT IS SLATED TO OPEN SUMMER OF 2025 THAT WE HAVE BEEN PARTNERED WITH THE CITY OF MANSFIELD IS THE MANSFIELD INNOVATION COMMUNITY.
THIS IS 18 ACRES OFF OF HERITAGE PARKWAY THAT'S GOING TO HAVE RETAIL EDUCATION, INNOVATION SPACE, PARKS, TRAILS, AND CORPORATE OFFICES.
ONE OF THE COMPANIES THAT IS SLATED TO OPEN, THAT WE'VE BEEN IN COMMUNICATION AND TALKS WITH IS BIO LABS.
[00:45:01]
BIO LABS IS ONE OF THE BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE FIELDS AND THAT IS GOING TO BE A NEW PROGRAM OF STUDY FOR US THAT WE ARE BEGINNING NEXT SCHOOL YEAR.IT HAS A 7% GROWTH THAT WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT.
THE IBC WE'RE LOOKING AT INTRODUCING IS MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANCE.
I THINK MOST EVERYBODY KNOWS WE HAVE A VERY LARGE, VERY SUCCESSFUL HEALTH SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, BUT EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FOCUSED ON PATIENT CARE AND SO WE ARE REALLY READY TO INNOVATE AND DIVE INTO RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.
EVERYBODY GOT REALLY UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS, THANK YOU TO COVID AND SO WE DO NOT SEE THAT GOING AWAY AND WE WANT A PIECE OF THAT PIE FOR OUR STUDENTS.
WE ARE ANXIOUS TO BEGIN CONVERSATIONS WITH AMAZON.
WE HAVE NOT STARTED YET, BUT WE ARE LOOKING INTO THOSE CONVERSATIONS THAT IBC IS THE CERTIFIED LOGISTICS TECHNICIAN AND THAT JOB OPPORTUNITY IS A 28% GROWTH.
WE REALLY, AGAIN, WANT A PIECE OF THAT PIE FOR OUR STUDENTS WITH AMAZON RIGHT IN OUR BACKYARD THAT'S A HUGE OPPORTUNITY.
INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE IS A PROGRAM OF STUDY THAT IS LOCATED IN THE MANUFACTURING CAREER CLUSTER.
WE HAVE ALREADY STARTED CONVERSATIONS WITH STRAUMANN GROUP AND THAT IS A BUSINESS AGAIN, THAT'S IN OUR CITY.
THE JOB OUTLOOK IS 27% GROWTH AND WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THE REALLY LARGE MACHINERY, ESPECIALLY EVEN JUST IN BEN BARBER, WE HAVE A REALLY INDUSTRY ALIGNED C&C SHOP, WELDING SHOP, AUTOMOTIVE SHOP, THOSE ARE REALLY HARD TO WORK ON, WHEN THOSE MACHINES GO DOWN, THEY NEED REGULAR MAINTENANCE.
IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO BE ABLE TO FIND SOMEBODY WHO HAS THAT EXPERTISE TO COME OUT SO WE REALLY WANT TO TRAIN OUR STUDENTS UP IN THAT AND SO THAT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A GOOD PAYING JOB UPON GRADUATION.
SOME OTHER PROGRAMS THAT WE WANT TO EXPAND ON ARE HVAC, ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION, AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR, ELECTRIC VEHICLE TECHNICIAN, AND AVIATION MECHANIC.
THESE ARE ALL PROGRAMS THAT WE ARE TOUCHING BASE ON IN OUR EXISTING SPACES, BUT WE REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO DIVE DEEPER WHEN WE'RE ABLE TO, AND HOPEFULLY WITH SOME EXPANSION OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE BUILDING.
>> THANK YOU. YOU GUYS ALWAYS HAVE SO MUCH.
>> WE WILL SEE IF THE BOARD HAS ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION.
I CAN SAY FIRSTHAND, I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THESE CERTIFICATIONS ARE AND SO FORTH BEING IN THE MEDICAL FIELD, BEING A BUSINESS OWNER, AND ALWAYS NEEDING THOSE INDIVIDUALS AT THOSE MID LEVEL POSITIONS.
IT'S BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND THOSE, ESPECIALLY OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD, ESPECIALLY, I'M SURE MS. NEWSOM COULD SPEAK TO THAT AS WELL.
I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE, I SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF THAT BECAUSE I USE IT EVERY DAY WITHIN OUR BUSINESS.
BUT COULD YOU JUST MAYBE SAY, AGAIN, I KNOW THERE'S MORE KIDS WANTING TO BE INVOLVED THAN WHAT WE HAVE SPACE FOR.
MAYBE TELL US AGAIN WITH THAT EXPANSION AND HOW WE CAN HELP SUPPORT THAT AND SO FORTH.
>> WELL, THE DISTRICT IS VERY SUPPORTIVE, OUR CTE PROGRAMS. MISS TRONGARD IS SO GENEROUS AND HELPFUL, ALLOWING US AND SUPPORTING US WITH PURCHASING THE VOUCHERS TO TEST THE STUDENTS.
AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THAT COMES AT A COST.
WE HAVE PROCESSES IN PLACE WHERE TO ENSURE THE STUDENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL.
BUT AGAIN, CTE PROGRAMS, THEY ARE EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE, THEY REQUIRE A LOT OF SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT.
WE SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF TIME TRAINING OUR TEACHERS AND MAKING SURE THAT WE SUPPORT THEM SO THAT THEY CAN HELP THE STUDENTS SUCCEED.
SHOULD THE BOND PASS, WE WILL EXPLORE ALL OF THE PROGRAMS THAT MISS WOODALL PRESENTED TO YOU TONIGHT.
THE HVAC, THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE TECHNICIAN.
THAT IS A HUGE EMERGING FIELD, BUT THAT WOULD REQUIRE THE PURCHASE OF NEW EQUIPMENT.
PART OF THAT BOND EXPANSION PLAN WAS TO BUILD ON A FEW TRADE AND INDUSTRY LABORATORY SPACES WHERE WE COULD DO THAT.
ANOTHER PART OF IT IS REWIRING, RESTRUCTURING SOME CLASSROOMS FOR COMPUTER LABS.
YOU MAY NOT REALIZE THIS, BUT THE ENGINEERING CLASSES ARE TAUGHT IN COMPUTER LABS BECAUSE THEY DO EVERYTHING ON AUTOCAD.
THAT'S ANOTHER AREA THAT WE WOULD GROW BECAUSE WE DID HAVE TO TURN SOME STUDENTS AWAY FROM ENGINEERING, AND WE ALL KNOW HOW POPULAR ENGINEERING IS RIGHT NOW.
I HOPE THAT ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION.
>> NO. YOU WENT EXACTLY WHERE I WAS WANTING AND EXPECTING YOU TO GO. THANK YOU.
[00:50:02]
>> I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT PRESENTATION.
I LOVE HEARING ABOUT WHAT WE'RE DOING NEW BECAUSE EVERY TIME YOU COME TO PRESENT, THERE'S SOMETHING NEW THAT YOU'RE ADDING IN THERE AND STAYING ON TOP OF THE CET CREDITS AND THINGS LIKE THAT THAT ARE MOST DESIRABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY, SO I APPRECIATE THAT.
I KNOW WHEN WE BUILT BEN BARBER WE'RE, ARE WE GOING TO HAVE ENOUGH KIDS TO FILL THESE? EVERY TIME WE COME BACK, IT'S LIKE WE NEED MORE SPACE, SO IT'S EXCITING.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HARD WORK THAT YOU DO IN TAKING CARE OF OUR STUDENTS AND JUST BEING INNOVATIVE AND KEEPING UP ON THE CURRENT OF WHAT'S GOING ON. THANK YOU.
>> YES, MA'AM. THANK YOU. IF YOU DO GET QUESTIONS ABOUT, WHY ARE WE NOT DOING THIS PROGRAM? WHY ARE WE NOT DOING THAT PROGRAM? IT IS TRULY ALIGNED TO WHAT THE LABOR MARKET NEEDS ARE AND WHAT THE FUTURE JOB GROWTH LOOKS LIKE.
WE DON'T WANT TO INVEST TAXPAYER RESOURCES INTO PROGRAMS WHERE THERE'S NOT A HUGE DEMAND, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR AREA.
THAT'S WHY. I KNOW YOU'LL GET THOSE QUESTIONS.
>> I JUST WANT TO ECHO WHAT MS. THOMAS SAID AS WELL.
I HAVE TWO KIDS THAT GO TO BEN BARBER EVERY WEEK.
I WILL SAY THAT IT'S NOT ONLY THE PROGRAMS YOU PUT IN PLACE, BUT IT'S ALSO THE PEOPLE YOU PUT THERE AND THEY'RE SPECIALIZED.
ONE OF MY CHILDREN WANT TO BE IN THE FBI AND TO DATE, AN INSTRUCTOR THERE GAVE HER THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THE INTERNSHIP THAT SHE HAD BECAUSE HE HAD SPECIAL RESOURCES AND HE HAD BEEN IN THE PAST.
THANK YOU SO MUCH AND I REALLY APPRECIATE Y'ALL.
I THINK IF WE COULD HAVE MORE ROOM AND WE COULD CONTINUE DOWN THE PROGRAMS, I THINK SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR MANSFIELD. THANK YOU.
>> I JUST REALLY WANT TO TOUCH BASE ON THE A THOUSAND THAT DR. [INAUDIBLE] WAS TALKING ABOUT.
IT WAS A THOUSAND THIS YEAR AND IT JUST BREAKS OUR HEARTS BECAUSE WE'RE AT CAPACITY AND IT'S A THOUSAND EVERY YEAR THAT WE HAVE TO TURN AWAY.
THAT'S THE LAST THING WE WANT TO DO BECAUSE AS YOU CAN SEE, WE'RE JUST A LITTLE PASSIONATE ABOUT IT.
>> YOU ARE, AND IT PAYS TRIBUTE TO YOUR PROGRAM THAT YOU DO HAVE THAT MANY. MISS [INAUDIBLE]
>> ACTUALLY, I JUST WANT TO ECHO WHAT THEY HAVE ALL SAID.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE WORK THAT YOU GUYS DO.
I GET EXCITED EVERY TIME I HEAR A PRESENTATION FROM YOU ALL ON THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE'RE ABLE TO GIVE OUR STUDENTS, AND REALLY A SKILLED WORKFORCE ONLY HELPS OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY.
I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE CONTINUE TO HIGHLIGHT THE PROGRAMS THAT WE HAVE THERE, BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THAT PEOPLE REALIZE THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE'RE GIVING OUR KIDS ON THAT CAMPUS.
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK THAT YOU DO AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRESENTATION AND WHAT YOU DO.
I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT THE EDUCATORS, THE TEACHERS THAT YOU GUYS HAVE IN CTE ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE WHO WORK IN THE INDUSTRY.
THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO LEFT THE INDUSTRY TO ACTUALLY COME AND TEACH.
TEACHING MAY NOT BE THEIR FIRST PASSION, BUT THEY HAVE FOUND THAT IN THEM AND THEY CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY AND THEY CARE ABOUT STUDENTS.
THESE AREN'T TEACHERS TRYING TO TEACH SOMETHING THEY DON'T KNOW.
THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO'VE DONE THIS IN THE INDUSTRY AND COME AND TEACH OUR STUDENTS.
I THINK THAT SAYS SO MUCH ABOUT THOSE EDUCATORS BECAUSE THEY'RE CHOSEN.
I ALSO THINK THAT YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY MEANS A WHOLE LOT BECAUSE WE'RE BUILDING THOSE RELATIONSHIPS HERE AND THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT.
I'M HOPEFUL THAT THERE'S ALSO SOME GRANTS OR SOMETHING OUT THERE THAT WE CAN APPLY FOR, THAT WE CAN DO, AND WHATEVER IT IS THAT WE NEED TO SAY OR SING TO GET THE MONEY, TO DO WHAT WE CAN DO SO WE CAN SERVE THESE FOLKS.
I'M REALLY APPRECIATIVE OF YOUR PASSION BECAUSE ALL THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN IF YOU GUYS DIDN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT'S LIKE.
ALSO TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THIS, I'M SOMEBODY WHO HIRES PEOPLE REGULARLY EVERY DAY AND WE CAN'T, POST COVID, FIND PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE WORKFORCE.
I WILL TELL YOU AS SOMEONE WHO HIRES, I HAVE HIRED PEOPLE THAT HAVE GONE THROUGH THESE ACCREDITATIONS, PHLEBOTOMIST, AND HEALTHCARE, AND CNA, AND ALL OF THESE THINGS, BECAUSE I COUNT THIS AS EXPERIENCE FOR THEM AND SO THAT REALLY IS MEANINGFUL AND IT MEANS A WHOLE LOT TO OUR WORKFORCE IN TEXAS AS A WHOLE TOO.
>> THANK YOU FOR THAT PRESENTATION, DR. TAMPON.
I WANTED TO ECHO WHAT MS. NEWSOM SAID IN TERMS OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS.
YOU LADIES RECENTLY HOSTED A CONFERENCE WHERE WE INVITED OTHER PARTNERS, AND I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT YOUR TEAM IS
[00:55:04]
ACTIVELY SEEKING OTHER PARTNERSHIPS IN THE AREA AND OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.THAT'S VERY IMPORTANT FOR OUR PARENTS TO KNOW THAT STUDENTS ARE NOT JUST, WE WANT THEM TO STAY HERE IN MANSFIELD, BUT THESE OTHER INDUSTRIES, OTHER BUSINESSES ARE SEEKING OUR STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE PREMIER STUDENTS.
COULD YOU JUST TOUCH ON THAT A LITTLE BIT AND TELL US ABOUT THE SUCCESS THAT YOU HAD THERE.
>> IN THE FALL, WE DO AN OPEN HOUSE, AND THAT'S WHERE WE PUSH IT OUT TO THE ENTIRE DISTRICT SO THAT EVEN INTERMEDIATE PARENTS, ELEMENTARY PARENTS CAN COME INTO OUR BUILDING BECAUSE IT GETS THEIR WHEELS TURNING, THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MY CHILD ONCE THEY GET INTO HIGH SCHOOL.
THAT'S MORE OF JUST AN OPEN HOUSE FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY.
IN THE SPRING, WE DO A READY TO WORK EXPO.
READY TO WORK IS WHERE INDUSTRY PARTNERS COME IN, AND WE HELP OUR STUDENTS GET READY TO TALK TO THEM AND JUST GO THROUGH THAT JOB SEEKING PROCESS.
THEY GET THEIR RESUMES READY, THEY DRESS UP, THEY COME IN.
OUR PARTNERS ARE SET UP ALL THROUGH OUR SCHOOL, AND THEY ARE ABLE TO SPEAK TO THEM ABOUT WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES THAT YOU HAVE.
I'M ABOUT TO GRADUATE, I HAVE THE CERTIFICATION.
I KNOW FOR A FACT METHODIST MANSFIELD WAS THERE, AND WE HAD SEVERAL OF OUR STUDENTS THAT GOT GREAT LEADS THAT NIGHT ON JOBS THAT THEY WERE APPLYING FOR.
WHAT WE DO ALSO IN MAY, IS WE DO OUR CAREER SIGNING DAY.
AT CAREER SIGNING DAY, WE CELEBRATE THOSE STUDENTS THAT HAVE GAINED EMPLOYMENT AND ARE GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE WORKFORCE.
THAT'S JUST ANOTHER WAY TO RECOGNIZE THAT CAREER READINESS PIECE, THAT THESE STUDENTS TRULY ARE CAREER READY WHEN THEY GRADUATE AND THEY ARE READY TO GO TO WORK, AND THEY'RE STAYING RIGHT HERE IN MANSFIELD AND HELPING OUR CITY AND OUR ECONOMY. THANK YOU, DR. REED.
>> YES, THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT Y'ALL DIDN'T GET QUESTIONED.
BUT AS MS. NEWSOM SAID, THAT'S A REALLY GOOD POINT.
IT'S YOUR PASSION, IT'S SHOWS AND AS HARD AS IT IS TO HAVE TO TURN AWAY A THOUSAND KIDS, I FEEL LIKE WE'LL HAVE THAT FIXED ONE DAY, BUT AT THE SAME TIME YOU HAVE THAT MANY MORE KIDS IN YOUR PROGRAM. GOOD JOB.
>> WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM 9,
[9. Presentation]
OUR PRESENTATIONS PORTION. DR. CANTU.>> YES, I WOULD LIKE SHAWNTEE COWAN, CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER TO COME FORWARD AT THIS TIME AND PROVIDE YOU GUYS WITH OUR ANNUAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT UPDATE.
>> GOOD EVENING. GOOD EVENING, BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, DR. CANTU, EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, AND EVERYONE WHO'S PRESENT TODAY, IT'S ALWAYS A PRIVILEGE TO BE ABLE TO PRESENT TO YOU ALL OUR ANNUAL TECHNOLOGY UPDATE.
WITH THAT BEING SAID, WE'RE GOING TO JUMP RIGHT ON IN.
AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE A LEADERSHIP TEAM.
I DO NOT DO WHAT I DO IN A SILO.
I HAVE AN AMAZING TEAM THAT HELPS ME.
BASED ON THE SCREEN YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE TWO DIRECTORS, I HAVE TWO COORDINATORS AND TWO SUPERVISORS.
I DO WANT TO POINT OUT SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE KNOWN LYNN PHEARS.
SHE WAS WITH US FOR ABOUT 28 YEARS AND RETIRED RECENTLY.
WE MISS HER DEARLY, BUT WE ARE WORKING ON REPLACING HER POSITION.
IN ADDITION TO MY LEADERSHIP TEAM, WHEN FULLY STAFFED, I ALSO HAVE 52 STAFF MEMBERS AND SOME OF THEM ARE HERE TODAY, THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING.
OUR TEAM, WE ARE A SUPPORT TEAM.
WE HELP AND SERVE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, ALL OF OUR STAFF, AND WE SUPPORT OVER 60 SITES.
YOU CAN SEE THE BREAKDOWN OF OUR TEAM THERE, AS WELL AS A PICTURE OF MOST OF OUR TEAM THERE.
WE ARE A 24/7 TYPE OF TEAM, WHICH MEANS THAT DURING THE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS, SOMETIMES HOLIDAYS, OUR TEAMS WORKING.
WE ALSO HAVE SUPPORT OF PARTNERS WHO ASSIST US WITH MONITORING OUR CRITICAL SYSTEMS AS WELL.
WE ARE ABOUT 98% FULLY STAFFED, SO WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO OUR TARGET OF 100% AND WE ARE GOING TO GET THERE.
LET'S MAKE SURE I'M DOING THE RIGHT WAY.
I LOVE THIS SLIDE HERE BECAUSE A LOT OF TIMES WHEN WE THINK ABOUT TECHNOLOGY, MOST THINK OF LAPTOPS, CHROME BOOKS, ALL THE THINGS WE KNOW ABOUT.
BUT WHAT I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT HERE IS OUR ABILITY AND NEED FOR RESILIENCE.
[01:00:02]
BECAUSE A LOT OF WHAT WE DO USES THE NETWORK, USES WIFI, INTERNET, ETC.MANY OF YOU AT HOME, YOU MAY HAVE SMART DEVICES.
SOME OF YOU MAY START YOUR CAR WITH YOUR APPS OR YOU MIGHT START YOUR DRYER WITH YOUR PHONE.
WE THINK ABOUT TECHNOLOGY, IT'S GO IN THAT DIRECTION, AND WE DO THE SAME THING HERE IN THE DISTRICT.
AS YOU CAN SEE, AS YOU LOOK AROUND THAT CIRCLE, I MEAN WE HAVE FREEZERS, WALK IN FREEZERS THAT USE THE NETWORK, WE HAVE FUEL PUMPS THAT USE THE NETWORK, WE HAVE SPRINKLERS THAT USE THE NETWORK.
OF COURSE, OUR TEAM, WE WORK REALLY HARD TO KEEP EVERYTHING UP AND RUNNING AND SECURE.
THAT'S ONE OF THE PIECES THAT WE ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR RESILIENCY TO KEEP EVERYTHING GOING.
AS YOU ALL KNOW, OUR DEPARTMENT, JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND CAMPUSES, WE DO HAVE OUR CADENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY OR COAS THAT WE REPORT OUT ON EVERY SINGLE MONTH.
THE THREE THAT WE FOCUS ON ARE CRITICAL UP TIME FOR OUR SYSTEMS, OUR WORK ORDERS, MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE GETTING THOSE TURNED AROUND AT A TIMELY FASHION.
THEN ALSO MAKING SURE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE COMPROMISED ENDPOINTS OR DEVICES.
I'M GOING TO GO INTO THAT A LITTLE BIT MORE LATER ON, YOU'LL SEE OUR DATA FROM LAST YEAR, BUT JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU KNEW WHAT THOSE THREE WERE.
IN ADDITION TO THOSE GOALS, WE ALSO HAD SUPPORTING GOALS DURING THE 22/23 SCHOOL YEAR.
THE FIRST ONE REALLY FOCUSED ON HAVING A ROBUST HELP DESK TICKETING SYSTEM.
THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT WE NEED AND SAW THAT WE NEEDED TO ADDRESS AS A DISTRICT.
THEN THE OTHER TWO SUPPORTING GOALS, THEY FOCUS ON THE NEED FOR ADDRESSING SITUATIONS SURROUNDING OUR MOBILE DEVICES FOR OUR STUDENTS.
AS YOU ALL KNOW, AFTER COVID, WE WENT TO A POINT TO WHERE WE QUICKLY WENT TO ONE TO ONE VIRTUAL LEARNING AND SO OUR STUDENTS HAD DEVICES IN THEIR HANDS.
WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT AS WE'RE DOING THAT, WE'RE PUTTING THOSE DEVICES IN THEIR HANDS.
THERE'S A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITY TO ONE, MAKE SURE WE ARE TAKING CARE OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF THOSE DEVICES, BUT TWO, MAKE SURE WE'RE REPAIRING THE DEVICES.
THE SECOND POINT IS REALLY TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN ACQUIRE SOME SUPPORT TO DO THAT.
THEN THE THIRD SUPPORTING GOAL WE HAD WAS TO INCREASE THE MONITORING OF OUR STUDENT DEVICES.
AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE HAVE TO MONITOR OUR KIDDOS DEVICES.
THAT WAS ANOTHER IMPORTANT GOAL.
WE ARE PLEASED TO SAY THAT WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH ALL THREE OF THOSE GOALS.
WE WERE ABLE TO TRANSITION TO A NEW TICKETING SYSTEM, WHICH OUR TEAM LOVES.
WE'VE GOTTEN A LOT OF GOOD FEEDBACK ON THAT.
THEN WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO SECURE A MOBILE DEVICE CLERK WHO HELPS US TREMENDOUSLY WITH THE ADMINISTRATION OF A LOT OF THOSE DEVICES.
IF YOU THINK OF HOW MANY KIDS WE HAVE AND HOW MANY DEVICES WE HAVE OUT THERE, SHE'S DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB THIS YEAR.
WE ALSO HAVE AN IN HOUSE REPAIR TEAM WHO DAY BY DAY BY DAY, YOU'LL SEE THEM IN THE ROOM JUST REPAIRING DEVICES CONSTANTLY.
WE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND SO WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO HAVE A FASTER TURNAROUND TIME BECAUSE OF THOSE DEVICES AND THE REPAIRS THAT WE HAVE IN HOUSE.
THEN LASTLY, WE WERE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THE MONITORING OF OUR DEVICES BECAUSE WE, OF COURSE, AS A TEAM, WE MONITOR CONSTANTLY.
BUT WHAT WE LOVED WAS WE WERE ABLE TO EMPOWER OUR TEACHERS TO ALSO MONITOR.
THEY HAVE SYSTEMS WITHIN THEIR OWN CLASSROOMS IN WHICH THEY CAN SEE WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CHROME BOOKS, THEY CAN SHUTDOWN CERTAIN WEBSITES OR PUSH OUT WEBSITES.
IT'S BEEN GREAT TO PARTNER WITH OUR TEACHERS AS WE CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER FOR PROTECTING OUR KIDS AND MONITORING.
DID YOU KNOW LAST YEAR OUR TEAM WAS ABLE TO CLOSE OVER 36,000 HELP DESK TICKETS? THAT IS A LOT OF TICKETS THAT OUR TEAM REALLY FOCUSES ON.
IF YOU REMEMBER THE SIZE OF OUR TEAM, WE GO A LOT, WE RUN REALLY FAST.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY ANSWER ALMOST 7,000 HELP DESK CALLS.
WE HAVE TWO INDIVIDUALS WHO HELP ANSWER CALLS REGULARLY.
THAT'S QUITE A BIT FOR THOSE TWO, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN AMAZING AT DOING THAT.
ALL OF THE DATA WE COLLECT, WE USE FOR DECISION MAKING, WE USE IT FOR ACCOUNTABILITY, AND THEN WE ALSO USE IT TO TRACK OUR REQUESTS.
I MENTIONED BEFORE THAT I WOULD TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE YEAR'S DATA.
YOU MIGHT RECALL LAST SCHOOL YEAR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR IN AUGUST, WE DID HAVE AN INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED, A CYBER INCIDENT.
[01:05:01]
REFLECTED THERE YOU'LL SEE IN AUGUST WE DID HAVE A DIP IN OUR DATA.THE GOOD THING YOU CAN SEE HERE IS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO RECOVER QUICKLY.
AS YOU SEE THE NEXT MONTH, AND EVEN GOING UP TO THE OCTOBER TIMEFRAME, WE WERE ABLE TO CATCH UP QUICKLY.
BY THE END OF THE YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO GET THROUGH THAT SEASON.
NOW I WILL SAY THAT WE DID NOT MEET OUR YEARLY GOAL.
BUT AGAIN, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OUT OF IT QUICKLY.
YOU'LL SEE THE SAME THING HERE FOR OUR TICKETS.
THIS IS CLOSING OUR WORK ORDERS WITHIN A TIMELY FASHION.
YOU CAN SEE THE DIP THAT WE HAD IN AUGUST.
BUT THEN AGAIN, OUR TEAM WORKED REALLY HARD TO CONTINUE TO GET THOSE TICKETS GOING AND COMPLETED.
BY THE END OF THE YEAR BECAUSE OF THE WORK THAT WAS PUT IN, WE WERE ACTUALLY ABLE TO NOT JUST MEET OUR GOAL, BUT EXCEED OUR GOAL IN THAT AREA.
AGAIN, LOTS OF HARD WORK WENT INTO THAT.
THEN WE ALSO HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION.
YOU'LL SEE IN AUGUST, THERE'S THAT DIP, AND THIS IS FOR UNCOMPROMISED ENDPOINTS.
BUT BECAUSE OF THE WORK OUR TEAM PUT IN, AS WELL AS SOME OF OUR PARTNERS, WE WERE ABLE TO QUICKLY RECOVER.
WE NOT ONLY MET OUR GOAL, BUT WE EXCEEDED OUR GOAL FOR THAT AS WELL.
I DO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW TODAY.
THE GOOD NEWS IS WE'RE ON TRACK, ALL IS WELL, WE'RE AT 99.99% FOR OUR GOAL, EXCEEDING OUR GOAL AT THIS POINT AND SO WE EXPECT TO DO JUST FINE AS WE CONTINUE ON.
WE DO HAVE A COUPLE MORE MONTHS LEFT, SO WE'RE GOING TO KEEP WORKING HARD. SECURITY UPDATES.
AS A DISTRICT, WE'RE ALWAYS STRIVING FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.
IN OUR TEAM, WE'VE WORKED REALLY HARD TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE MANY SAFETY MEASURES IN PLACE.
WE'RE CONSTANTLY MAKING SURE WE'RE DOING THE RIGHT THING.
WE'RE PROUD OF THE WORK THAT WE'VE ALREADY DONE, BUT WE'RE ALWAYS WANTING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE DOING EVEN BETTER THAN THAT.
ONE OF THE KEY PIECES I DO WANT TO POINT OUT IS THAT THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO ADD A POSITION WHICH IS THE DIRECTOR OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND CYBERSECURITY.
THAT HAS BEEN SUCH A HUGE COMPLEMENT TO WHAT WE WERE DOING BEFORE.
BUT NOW WE HAVE ADDITIONAL OVERSIGHT IN THOSE AREAS.
WE'RE SO THANKFUL FOR THAT POSITION.
WE ALSO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TWEAK SOME OF OUR POLICIES, AGAIN, JUST MAKING THINGS EVEN BETTER.
A LITTLE BIT MORE ACCOUNTABILITY WHEN WE TALK ABOUT THINGS LIKE MFA, WHICH WE WERE DOING.
BUT WE'RE HAVING TO TIGHTEN UP SOME OF THOSE RULES CAN BE A LITTLE FRUSTRATING, I KNOW FOR OUR USERS SOMETIMES, BUT JUST MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE PROTECTING AS WE LOG INTO OUR SYSTEMS. OTHER PIECES DID YOU KNOW, MALICIOUS, DANGEROUS INTERNET REQUESTS? WE CONSTANTLY GET HAMMERED, WHETHER WE REALIZE IT OR NOT, WITH DIFFERENT, WE CALL THEM IP ADDRESS REQUESTS.
WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO BLOCK OVER 20 MILLION DIFFERENT REQUESTS.
THAT'S OUR TEAM WORKING REALLY HARD TO DO THAT.
THAT'S JUST BEEN SINCE AUGUST.
IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE NUMBER OF STAFF AND STUDENTS WE HAVE, WE HAVE FILES THAT ARE NEEDED ALL THE TIME THAT WE HAVE TO SCAN AND PROTECT.
SINCE AUGUST, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO PROTECT 1.68 BILLION OF THOSE.
IF YOU WERE TO COMPARE THAT, THAT'S ACTUALLY MORE THAN THE NUMBER OF WEBSITES ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB RIGHT NOW.
AGAIN, OUR TEAM WORKS REALLY HARD DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT WHEN MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE ALL OF THIS IS GOING ON.
SOME OTHER AREAS WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF IN THE AREA OF CYBERSECURITY IS THAT WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF AND WE DO NOT SHY AWAY FROM AUDITS.
IN FACT, WE WELCOME THEM BECAUSE WHEN WE CAN GET AN AUDIT, WE CAN ALWAYS GET BETTER AT SOMETHING.
ONE THING WE'RE PROUD OF IS THAT WE DID HAVE AN EXTERNAL COMPANY COME IN, A VERY REPUTABLE COMPANY, AND THEY AUDITED US, AND THEY DID AN EXTERNAL TEST.
WHEN THE RESULTS CAME BACK, I THINK OUR TEAM REALLY CHEERED.
WE WERE REALLY EXCITED BECAUSE WE HAD EXCEPTIONAL PASSING RESULTS WITH THAT TEST. NOT JUST THAT.
WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT AGENCY THAT HELPS US EVERY SINGLE WEEK ACTUALLY, WE DO TESTING EVERY WEEK.
WE'VE BEEN HAVING PASSING RESULTS.
AGAIN, WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF THAT.
WE'RE ON TRACK TO DO ANOTHER TEST.
WE HAVE EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL TYPE TESTS ON AUDITS, AND WE'RE ABOUT TO DO THAT TOO, AND WE EXPECT AMAZING RESULTS THERE TOO.
ANOTHER AREA THAT WE ARE PROUD OF IS OUR CYBERSECURITY AND DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP CAMPAIGN.
[01:10:02]
I KNOW YOU MAY HAVE HEARD FROM MR. TIPPING. HE'S BEEN A GREAT PARTNER TO OUR TEAM AND WE'VE HAD SOME CONVERSATIONS AND HE'S BEEN ABLE TO PRESENT SOME OF THIS TO YOU.BUT I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE TALK THROUGH SOME OF THESE OTHER ITEMS AS WELL.
WHEN WE THINK ABOUT CYBERSECURITY AND DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP, IT'S REALLY NOT JUST A TECHNOLOGY COMPONENT, IT'S REALLY ALL OF US COMPONENT.
WHEN WE THINK ABOUT IT, OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO TAKE OWNERSHIP.
OUR PARENTS, OUR FAMILIES, WE TAKE OWNERSHIP AS PARENTS.
WHEN I PUT THAT HAT ON AS WELL, OUR STAFF TAKES OWNERSHIP AND SO WHAT WE WANTED TO DO THIS YEAR IS TO PARTNER AND EMPOWER EVERYONE TO HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO SUPPORT.
THIS YEAR WE STARTED OUR STUDENT TECH TIPS THAT GO OUT EVERY MONTH TO OUR STUDENTS.
WE ALSO HAVE PARENT TECH TIPS AND STAFF TECH TIPS.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE HAVE OUR SIMULATED PHISHING ASSESSMENTS.
AND SO WE'VE ADDED A PIECE THIS YEAR THAT IF SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY CLICKS THE LINK OR AN ATTACHMENT, THEN THEY WATCH A VIDEO THAT HELPS THEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THOSE RULES WERE.
WE'VE ALSO DONE PARENT AND STUDENT ONLINE WEBINARS.
WE'VE DONE SOME ONSITE TRAINING AS PARTNERS WITH CAMPUSES.
WE'VE PARTNERED WITH DIFFERENT GROUPS LIKE PARENT UNIVERSITY.
WE'VE BEEN PUSHING OUT SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND ALSO PARTNERING WITH OUR DIGITAL LEARNING TEAM WHO CREATED A STAFF ONLINE COURSE WHICH ACTUALLY WENT VERY WELL AND THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING A STUDENT ONLINE COURSE FOR NEXT YEAR.
TOGETHER WE'RE WORKING JUST AGAIN, TO KEEP OUR KIDDOS SAFE.
WE DO HAVE SOME ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A DEPARTMENT.
OUR TEAM, LIKE I SAID, WE WORK A LOT.
BUT WE WANT TO ALSO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GIVING THEM RECOGNITION AND SPENDING TIME TOGETHER TO GEL AS A TEAM.
WE DO HAVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS IN WHICH WE HAVE TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES, COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND MORE.
WE'VE ALSO HEARD FROM OUR STAFF THAT THEY WANT TO HAVE MORE TIME FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
WE'VE BEEN OPENING UP OPPORTUNITIES FOR THAT, AND SOME HAVE GONE TO REGION 11 TO LEARN THEIR ROLE EVEN BETTER, AND MAYBE EVEN SOME PROMOTIONAL TYPE ROLES.
WE'VE WATCHED SEVERAL GET CERTIFICATIONS, AND SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT JUST THE GROWTH THAT WE'RE HAVING.
WE MOVED TO ANOTHER INVENTORY SYSTEM, AND NOW WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO AUTOMATE CERTAIN THINGS THAT BEFORE OR MAYBE DONE MANUALLY, NOW IT'S MORE EFFICIENT WITH AUTOMATED TASKS.
THEN ALSO LOTS OF PARTNERSHIPS INTERNALLY, WE LOVE TO SUPPORT OUR STAFF, OUR TEAMS, OUR DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS, AND SO THAT'S A LIST OF A FEW ITEMS THAT YOU SEE THERE.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, LAST YEAR I BROUGHT TO YOU ALL SOME PROJECTS WE WERE WORKING ON.
I'M GLAD TO SAY THAT ALL THOSE PROJECTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED THIS YEAR, INCLUDING IPADS FOR OUR FIRST GRADE KIDDOS.
NOW THEY HAVE FULL CLASS SETS.
OUR PRE K AND K CLASSES HAVE 10 PER CLASSROOM, AND WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THEM FULL SETS.
WE'VE ALSO DONE A LOT OF NETWORK UPGRADES, MEANING LIKE OUR CONTENT FILTERS, WHICH PROTECT OUR KIDS FROM ACCESSING INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT, AND EVEN FIREWALL ADDITIONS.
OUR TICKETING SYSTEM I MENTIONED BEFORE, BUT IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE ADDED A CALL CENTER SOFTWARE.
NOW OUR HELP DESK, THEY'RE LIKE A REAL CALL CENTER, WHICH MEANS THAT THEY HAVE THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO REMOTE INTO CERTAIN SYSTEMS, HELP OUR STAFF MORE EFFICIENTLY AND THEY'VE LOVED HAVING THE SYSTEM, AND WE'VE LOVED HAVING THE REPORTING.
LASTLY, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO IMPLEMENT FOR THIRD AND FOURTH GRADE THEIR CHARGING STATIONS.
WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IS BEFORE OUR STUDENTS HAD THEIR CHROME BOOKS AND THEY WOULD PUT THEM IN THEIR BACKPACKS AND TAKE THEM HOME FOR OUR YOUNGER LEARNERS, AND THEN JUST SOMETIMES THEY JUST DROP THEM ON THE FLOOR OR GET THEY'RE THERE AND WE SEE SOME BREAKAGE.
WHAT WE DECIDED TO DO WITH THE COLLABORATION WITH CAMPUSES AND TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS, WE GOT A LOT OF JUST FEEDBACK.
WE DECIDED TO KEEP THOSE IN THE CLASSROOM.
LO AND BEHOLD, WHEN WE LOOKED AT THE DATA, WE HAD ALMOST 80% FEWER DAMAGED DEVICES.
THIS YEAR HAS BEEN SO MUCH BETTER WHERE THE KIDS HAVE THEIR DEVICES IN THE CLASSROOM, THEY USE THEM FOR TESTING, IT'S GOING MUCH BETTER.
IT WAS PERFECT TO HAVE OUR CTE FOLKS UP HERE BECAUSE I WANT TO GIVE THEM ACCOLADES AS WELL BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE US WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A TECHNOLOGY INTERNSHIP.
[01:15:02]
BUT I'M JUST REALLY PROUD OF OUR STUDENTS THAT PARTNER WITH TECHNOLOGY.JUST VERY QUICKLY, IF YOU LOOK AT THE TOP, YOU CAN SEE A COUPLE OF PICTURES.
THE YOUNG MAN IN THE MIDDLE, THAT IS PARKER HE IS AN AMAZING PROGRAMMER.
IN FACT, HE'S PROGRAM CERTAIN SOFTWARE PROGRAMS FOR US AS A DEPARTMENT. HE'S REALLY SHARP.
BUT YOU CAN SEE IN THAT PICTURE, HE'S ACTUALLY AT ONE OF THE EVENTS THAT DR. CANTU PUT ON WHEN SHE HAD SUPERINTENDENTS COME OUT TO JUST LEARN ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIPS.
HE WAS ABLE TO TALK TO INDUSTRY PARTNERS AND I WAS ABLE TO DO THE SAME AND IT WAS GREAT TO HIGHLIGHT OUR STUDENTS IN A DIFFERENT WAY.
AT THE BOTTOM, YOU CAN ALSO SEE PICTURES OF OUR STUDENTS WORKING.
WHETHER IT'S LAPTOPS ARE REPAIRING, CHROME BOOKS ARE REPAIRING OR EVEN THE LOGISTICAL PIECE.
ONE OF THE PIECES I WANT TO POINT OUT THE SECOND BULLET YOU CAN SEE IT WHEN WE ASK OUR STUDENTS AS FAR AS WHAT THEY LEARNED AND WHEN THEY EXIT FROM THE PROGRAM EACH YEAR, ONE OF THE STUDENTS SAID, BEING ABLE TO HELP OTHER FACULTY ON MY OWN WITHOUT THE TECHNICIANS HELP.
THAT WAS WHAT THEY WERE PROUD OF.
TO ME, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT BEING LIFE COLLEGE IN OUR CAREER READY, LIKE THEY'RE GETTING THEIR CERTIFICATIONS BUT THEN THEY GET TO COME IN OUR DEPARTMENT AND GET THAT HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WHERE THEY'RE ACTUALLY HELPING TEACHERS, JUST LIKE ANY OF OUR TECHNICIANS WOULD, AND SO WE'RE SO PROUD OF THEM.
THEN ALSO, THIS IS ANOTHER PIECE THAT WE GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO.
DIA MARTINEZ IS AN INSTRUCTOR AT BEN BARBER AND HE IS REALLY WHO WE PARTNER WITH A LOT.
WE HAVE THREE STUDENTS WHO ACTUALLY ENTERED A CONTEST CALLED THE CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE.
THEY CAME TO US AND THEY SAID, HEY, IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN HELP YOU WORK ON? OUR DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY AND OUR INVENTORY SPECIALISTS CAME TOGETHER AND GAVE THEM A PLATFORM FOR THEM TO JUST GET BUSY AND GO TO WORK AND THEY ACTUALLY CREATED A PLATFORM.
BASICALLY, IT'S AN APPLICATION THAT TRACKS INVENTORY PARTS AND WHEN THEY DID THAT, THEY SUBMITTED THE CHALLENGE AND GUESS WHAT? THEY WON.
AT THIS POINT THEY HAVE THE ABILITY, IF THEY CHOOSE, TO, TO GO TO AUSTIN AND SHOW THIS APPLICATION TO THE CONGRESS THERE AND MEET MANY OTHER KIDS LIKE THEM WHO PROGRAM AND EVEN HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL THESE DIFFERENT INDUSTRY PARTNERS, EVEN IN THAT LEVEL TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEM.
AGAIN, WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF THE WORK THEY DID.
LASTLY, WE TALKED ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY PLAN THE LAST TIME WE WERE HERE.
BOARD YOU SHOULD HAVE A COPY OF THAT.
IF YOU WERE A PERSON OR A MEMBER OF ANY OF OUR TECHNOLOGY PLANNING COMMITTEES, IF YOU COULD STAND SO YOU COULD BE RECOGNIZED, ANYBODY WHO IS IN THE TECHNOLOGY PLAN? IF Y'ALL CAN GIVE THEM A HAND CLAP.
[LAUGHTER] [APPLAUSE] I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE WORK THAT YOU DID.
THERE WAS LOTS OF HOURS PUT INTO THIS.
I'M GOING TO SHOW A VIDEO THAT WILL GIVE YOU A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THE PLAN TOOK PLACE. JUST ENJOY.
I'LL GIVE THEM A SECOND, IF THEY CAN GET HER READY.
>> OUR TECHNOLOGY TEAM IS EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT THE PROGRESS THAT'S BEEN MADE WITH THE CREATION OF OUR TECHNOLOGY LONG RANGE PLAN.
AS WE CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON VISION 2030 AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE ARE PROACTIVE AND STRATEGIC ABOUT WHAT WE DO AND THAT WE FOCUS ON AVENUES TO KEEP OUR STUDENTS AND OUR STAFF SUCCESSFUL AND SAFE WHEN THEY UTILIZE TECHNOLOGY.
BETWEEN THE PLANS DRAFTING COMMITTEE WHO DEVELOPED THE PLANS FRAMEWORK LAST SCHOOL YEAR.
IN OUR RECENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE, THERE'S BEEN NEARLY 90 INDIVIDUALS WHO ASSISTED US WITH THIS PROCESS AND WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR EACH ONE OF THEM.
>> I'VE ENJOYED BEING A PART OF THE DISTRICT TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SURPRISING THINGS THAT WE HAVE LEARNED THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I'VE LEARNED IS JUST HOW LARGE THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT IS AND ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY DO ON A DAILY BASIS TO SUPPORT STAFF THE STUDENTS.
[01:20:04]
FROM MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS TO EVERY CAMPUS TO EVERY DEPARTMENT THEY LITERALLY TOUCH EVERYTHING WE DO ON A DAILY BASIS AND WE COULD NOT DO OUR JOBS WITHOUT THEM.>> JUST BEING A PART OF THIS COMMITTEE, I'M EXTRA THANKFUL TO THE DEPARTMENT.
MISS TAMPLA SAID IT REALLY, WELL, THERE'S SUCH A HUGE OUTPOURING OF JUST CARE FOR OUR DISTRICT STUDENTS AND STAFF AND THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT.
THE PROCESS OF COMING TOGETHER HERE WITH THIS COMMITTEE HAS BEEN AMAZING.
WE'VE GOT ALL THESE PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER FROM DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE, STUDENTS, STAFF MEMBERS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, PEOPLE WHO KNOW THINGS ABOUT TECHNOLOGY, PEOPLE WHO DON'T AND THEY'RE COMING TOGETHER TO PROVIDE INPUT AND FEEDBACK TO MAKE OUR DISTRICT BETTER.
WE WILL HAVE A ROBUST AND STRONG LONG RANGE TECHNOLOGY PLAN FOR OUR DISTRICT BECAUSE OF ALL THE INPUT THAT WE'VE HAD.
WE'VE GOT PEOPLE LEARNING THINGS THAT THEY NEVER KNEW THAT OUR DISTRICT DOES AND WE HAVE PEOPLE THERE WHO CAN HELP MAKE US BETTER AND MAKE US SAFER.
>> THAT WAS SO LOUD. SORRY ABOUT THAT.
OUR TECHNOLOGY PLAN IS OFFICIALLY IN PLACE, SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR.
WITH THAT, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I'D LOVE TO ANSWER.
>> THANK YOU. I'LL START TO MY LAP THIS TIME.
TRUSTEES, DID YOU ALL HAVE ANYTHING, DR. RE?
I KNOW THAT YOU MENTIONED I WROTE THIS DOWN, BUT YOU MENTIONED AUDITING AND THAT YOU DON'T RUN AWAY FROM AUDITING.
I NOTICED, LIKE YOU DID, THAT THERE'S ALWAYS THIS DIP OR REDUCTION IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST.
NOW, MY FIRST PRESUMPTION IS THAT IT IS WE'RE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL AND SO WE'RE MORE USAGE AND THINGS ARE HAPPENING.
I'M APPREHENSIVE TO ASK, BUT COULD YOU SHARE ONE REASON OTHER THAN THAT, IF IT DOES NOT HINGE ON BREACHING ANY TYPE OF SECURITY MEASURE FOR A REASON THAT THERE'S THIS DIP OR REDUCTION IN?
THAT WAS AROUND THE TIME THAT WE DID HAVE A CYBER INCIDENT.
THAT WAS IN AUGUST OF LAST SCHOOL YEAR AND SO IT DID TAKE US TIME TO RECOVER DURING THAT TIME PERIOD.
>> THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION.
YOU GUYS DO INCREDIBLE WORK TO RUN A MACHINE LIKE THIS AND TO TOUCH EVERY STUDENT AND EVERY FACULTY MEMBER, LITERALLY EVERYONE ON EVERY CAMPUS EVERY DAY.
I THINK THAT THE WAY YOU GUYS COME TOGETHER AS A TEAM IS SOMETHING THAT'S REALLY OBVIOUS TO THOSE OF US THAT GET TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT CLOSE ENOUGH AND IT'S QUITE IMPRESSIVE.
I WAS ALSO UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO BE HERE DURING THE CYBER ATTACK SITUATION AND TO SEE YOU GUYS HUNKER DOWN.
I WISH OTHER PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO THAT TO SEE WHAT THAT WAS LIKE.
YOU GUYS HAVE A GREAT TEAM AND VERY DEDICATED TO WHAT YOU DO AND THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SERVE SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT.
I'M ALSO SOMEONE WHO CAN SAY THAT I THINK THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON SOMETIMES AND WE'LL JUST CHALK THAT ONE UP AS A GREAT LEARNING OPPORTUNITY FOR US BECAUSE I THINK WE CAME OUT OF THAT MUCH STRONGER AND MORE FIERCE AFTER THAT.
>> THANK YOU. I HAVE A FEW THINGS.
WE'VE COME A LONG WAY AND FROM THE DAY 1, FROM IPAD DEPLOYMENT, AND I KNOW JOHN AND JESSICA, YOU REMEMBER THOSE DAYS OF MOUNDS OF PAPER AND SENDING THE IPADS AND STUFF OUT, AND NOW YOU'VE BROUGHT IT IN HOUSE SO AN INCREDIBLE LONG JOURNEY THAT WE'VE DONE.
I KNOW YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL TEAM AND THEY DO INCREDIBLE AND JUST SEEING THEM WORK AND INTERACT WITH THE KIDS, YOU ALL DO AN INCREDIBLE JOB.
I'VE BEEN ABLE TO WITNESS THAT FIRSTHAND.
YOU GUYS ARE REALLY INCREDIBLE BECAUSE THERE'S SOMETIMES THAT SOME OF THE STUDENTS, I'M LIKE, YOU DID WHAT WITH THAT IPAD AND YOU GUYS WERE SO PATIENT AND YOU'RE LIKE, WE CAN FIX IT I'M LIKE, WHAT? SO KUDOS TO YOU GUYS.
YOU GUYS REALLY DO AN INCREDIBLE JOB.
THEN GOING BACK TO YOUR WORK ORDERS AND YOU HAVE 80% WITHIN 70 DAYS.
THAT'S NOT JUST DEVICES, THAT'S EVERYTHING FROM DESKTOPS TO EVERYTHING THAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING AND YOU CAN GET SO MANY IN, IN JUST ONE DAY TO TURN THEM AROUND AND HAVE THEM FINISHED IN SEVEN DAYS.
KUDOS TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE, YOU CAN GET ANYTHING FROM SOMETHING BROKEN TO JUST SOMETHING THAT YOU JUST DIDN'T GET PLUGGED IN AND YOU HAVE TO CRAWL UNDER THAT DESK AND PLUG THE THING AND YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND YOU HAVE TO TROUBLESHOOT THAT.
[01:25:03]
I APPRECIATE THE EFFORT THAT YOU HAVE PUT IN TO GET THAT TO 80% IN SEVEN DAYS.YOU HAD MENTIONED THE ELEMENTARY WHEN WE WERE HAVING THE KIDS BRING THEM BACK AND BEING ABLE TO HELP IN THE CLASSROOMS AND SEEING THOSE CHROME BOOKS AND PADS.
YOU ARE RIGHT, THEY WERE BEAT TO HECK.
I LIKE THE CHARGING STATIONS AND THAT THEY'VE BEEN MOVED BACK, THEY'RE KEEPING THEM AT SCHOOL.
HAVE YOU THOUGHT TO DO THAT WITH THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL AS WELL?
>> THANK YOU FOR THAT QUESTION.
WE DID PUSH OUT A SURVEY TO OUR PRINCIPALS JUST TO GET THEIR FEEDBACK, AND THAT'S SOMETHING WE'RE JUST LOOKING AT RIGHT NOW.
IT'S A POSSIBILITY, WE'RE JUST WORKING ON TO SEE HOW WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN.
>> THANK YOU AND KUDOS TO YOU GUYS.
>> I JUST WANTED TO SAY, LOOK, AUGUST WITH OUR INCIDENT AND FOR YOU ALL BEING ABLE TO STILL EXCEED WHAT YOU HAD PLANNED, IT'S A TRUE TESTAMENT TO YOUR DEPARTMENT AND YOUR LEADERSHIP AND EVERYBODY WORKING TOGETHER AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU ALL, SO APPRECIATE IT.
>> THANK YOU. APPRECIATE THAT.
I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I APPRECIATE YOU EXPLAINING THE DEPTH AND THE WIDTH OF WHICH TECHNOLOGY TOUCHES EVERYTHING WITHIN OUR DISTRICT BECAUSE SOMETIMES I DON'T THINK WE THINK ABOUT TECHNOLOGY BECAUSE IT'S ALWAYS THERE AND IT'S ALWAYS AROUND US.
BUT THE FACT THAT YOU ALL HAVE SO MANY FINGERPRINTS ON EVERY ASPECT OF OUR DISTRICT, I THINK IS A GREAT TESTAMENT.
THEN I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT AGAIN THE PARENT AND THE STUDENT INFORMATION THAT Y'ALL ARE SENDING OUT REGULARLY AND MAKE SURE THAT OUR COMMUNITY KNOWS THAT THERE'S RESOURCES AVAILABLE.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY WE'RE USING OR ABOUT WHAT'S GOING ON WITHIN OUR DISTRICT, HOW TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS AT HOME, AND SO FORTH.
WE'RE THERE FOR THAT, AND Y'ALL HAVE DONE THAT AND SO I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT AGAIN.
>> I COULDN'T GET PAST THE MILLIONS AND THE BILLIONS ON THOSE [INAUDIBLE] I LITERALLY HAD TO KEEP STARING AT THEM BECAUSE I THOUGHT, I'M NOT READING THAT RIGHT.
BUT AGAIN, I THINK IT WAS MS. THOMAS THAT SAID IT.
Y'ALL ARE JUST DOING AN AMAZING JOB.
IT IS SO MUCH ALL THE TIME, IT'S NOT JUST ME BRINGING YOU AN IPAD OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, IT IS SO MUCH ALL THE TIME AND PROTECTING OUR DISTRICT ALL THE WAY AROUND.
I ESPECIALLY APPRECIATE YOUR SUCH POSITIVE ATTITUDE THAT OUR CRISIS YOU REFERRED TO AS AN INCIDENT.
THAT'S GOING TO BE MONEY WORD, THAT'S MY NEW GO TO WORD INSTEAD OF SAYING I HAVE A PROBLEM, I HAVE AN INCIDENT SO I TOTALLY APPRECIATE THAT.
I THINK THAT ATTITUDE IS WHY WE WORKED THROUGH IT SO WELL AND I SAY WE ACTING LIKE I DID ANYTHING, IT WAS YOU GUYS AND YOUR TEAM SO WE APPRECIATE ALL THAT Y'ALL DO IN PROTECTING OUR DISTRICT.
>> THANK YOU. WE APPRECIATE THAT.
>> YES. MR. WILLIAMS IS SET AND READY TO GO, I CAN TELL AND HE IS HERE TO GIVE US OUR COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING UPDATE.
>> YES, MA'AM. THANK YOU, DR. CANTU PRESIDENT WILSON AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND CABINET AND ALL OF THE LEADERSHIP THAT'S UP ON THE DAS AREA.
IF THE BOARD WOULD PLEASE REFRESH.
WE'VE KIND OF TWEAKED THIS THING A COUPLE OF TIMES.
I WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MOST UPDATED INFORMATION BEFORE YOU AS THEY'RE GETTING A SET AND READY TO GO.
THE CLOCK HASN'T STARTED YET BY THE WAY, FOR THOSE WHO ARE TIMING ME, WANT TO BE CLEAR ON THAT PART.
IF WE'RE GOOD, WE'RE GOING TO JUMP RIGHT INTO IT AND I WANT TO BEGIN BY REALLY KIND OF RECOGNIZING AND TALKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND DOING THE WORK EVERY SINGLE DAY AND I WANT TO POINT OUT, THIS IS A STATE RECOGNIZED AND ALSO NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TEAM.
IT'S A NEW TEAM, WE HAVE SOME NEW MEMBERS AND SOME NEW FACES THAT ARE THERE.
YOU HAVE LARI BARAGER WHO IS THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS.
YOU HAVE HEATHER CARSON, WHO IS THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS.
YOU HAVE EMILY HAMLER, WHO YOU MET TONIGHT, AND SHE IS THE DIRECTOR OF MULTIMEDIA AND MARKETING.
YOU HAVE CHRISTINA WILLIAMSON, WHO HAVE BEEN WITH US FOR A WHILE NOW AND SHE IS DIRECTOR OF WEB SERVICES.
WE HAVE SERGIO ALMENDARIZ WHO IS THE COORDINATOR OF MULTIMEDIA AND MARKETING.
YOU HAVE HOPE SIPE WHO IS THE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR AND YOU HAVE KATIE GEMMEL WHO IS THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST, PHENOMENAL FOLKS WHO ARE DOING PHENOMENAL WORK.
NEXT THING I WANT TO TALK WITH YOU GUYS ABOUT IS, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THIS THING WITHIN OUR DEPARTMENTS AND ALSO WITHIN
[01:30:01]
OUR CAMPUSES AND WE TALK ABOUT YOUR ONE THING.EVERY DEPARTMENT HAS IT, CAMPUSES HAVE IT AND FOR US, OUR ONE THING IS TO TELL OUR STORY IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND TRUST FROM OUR STUDENTS, PARENTS, STAFF, AND THE COMMUNITY OF MANSFIELD ISD.
YOU MAY BE SITTING THERE THINKING ABOUT, WHY DOES THAT PHRASE, WHY DOES THAT MATTER? I WILL TELL YOU ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I'VE ROUTINELY HEAR FROM YOU GUYS, FROM OUR CAMPUSES AND OUR DEPARTMENTS IS TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE MONEY TRAVELS WITH THE STUDENTS AND BECAUSE THE MONEY TRAVELS WITH THE STUDENTS, FOR US, IT'S SO INCUMBENT THAT THE PARENTS AND THE FOLKS WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO COME TO MANSFIELD ISD PITCH THEIR TENT HERE AND BE A PART OF THIS COMMUNITY THEY STAY WITH US.
THE OTHER COMPONENT OF THAT, WE ALL KNOW THAT WE HAVE CLOSED BORDERS AND THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU CAN COME AND BE A PART OF MANSFIELD ISD IS TO COME AND LIVE HERE AND TO BE HERE.
WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CONTINUE TO DO THE GREAT WORK AND TELL OUR STORY IN SUCH A WAY THAT INDIVIDUALS CONTINUE TO STAY PROUD AND EXCITED ABOUT BEING A PART OF OUR DISTRICT.
THE OTHER THING, WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT WE DO EVERY DAY, IT'S NOTATED THERE, IT'S NOT EVERYTHING BUT IT'S JUST SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE SOME OF THOSE HEAVY ROCKS THAT WE HAVE WITHIN OUR DISTRICT.
I'M GOING TO HAVE TO REBRAND THAT STATEMENT AS FAR AS CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS, WHAT DO YOU SAY IT WAS? INCIDENT COMMUNICATIONS SO THAT SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE SMILES THAN IT DID, BUT IT'S OKAY.
I KNOW IT'S GETTING LATE. CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS, CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING, WHEN YOU LOOK AT REALTOR BREAKFAST, ACE, AMBASSADOR TRAINING, PARTNERS IN EDUCATION, GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS.
IT'S ALL THE THINGS THAT WE DO IN TELLING THE STORY FOR MANSFIELD ISD.
WHAT WE WANT TO DO TONIGHT AS FAR AS FOCUSING IN ON THE GOALS FOR 23, 24, IT'S NOT ALL OF THEM, BUT WE WANTED TO REALLY KIND OF POINT OUT THESE FOUR MEDIA RELATIONS, SOCIAL MEDIA, VIDEO COMMUNICATIONS, AND ALSO COMMUNITY RELATIONS TIED TO OUR CADENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY.
WE WANT TO START WITH MEDIA RELATIONS.
LAST MONTH YOU GUYS HAD A GREAT STORY AS IT RELATES TO WHAT TOOK PLACE FROM A MEDIA RELATIONS SITUATION.
THOSE THINGS DO NOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE, REALLY FOR US AS A DEPARTMENT, WE LOOK AT A SITUATION AS FAR AS WE REQUEST FOR COVERAGE.
WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT CC THERE, THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT AT JOE MIDDLE SCHOOL, WE DID A REQUEST FOR COVERAGE IN THAT WE LITERALLY PRETTY MUCH HAD EVERY MAJOR MEDIA OUTLET THAT CAME TO COVER THIS STORY AND IT JUST DIDN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE.
IT WAS THE GREAT WORK OF LAURIE BELANGER.
SHE WORKED WITH THEM, SHE TALKED WITH THEM SHE RECRUITED THE MEDIA TO BE ABLE TO COME OUT AND COVER THAT STORY AND WE GOT SO MUCH POSITIVE FEEDBACK AS IT RELATES TO THAT STORY.
WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE CADENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, THE DATA POINT THAT'S RELATED TO THAT, OUR DISTRICT GOAL WAS 1210, CURRENTLY, RIGHT NOW FROM A POSITIVE MEDIA HIT IS 1320.
I DON'T WANT TO LET THAT MOMENT PASS WHEN YOU THINK IN TERMS OF MAJOR MEDIA OUTLETS, IT'S THE NEWS YOU SEE EVERY NIGHT.
IT'S NEWS YOU SEE IN THE MORNING WHEN YOU'RE HAVING YOUR COFFEE.
THESE ARE THE MOMENTS THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT AS IT RELATES TO IT AND I KNOW MY FRIEND MICHELE TRONGAARD WILL LOVE THIS.
SHE DIDN'T GIVE ME $2 MILLION FROM MY BUDGET.
THIS IS WHEN YOU TALK, IN TERMS OF THOSE MOMENTS THAT HAVE OCCURRED, THIS IS $2 MILLION AS FAR AS MARKET VALUE, AS FAR AS OPPORTUNITIES THAT OUR FAMILIES ARE GETTING BASED ON THE COVERAGE THAT WE'RE DOING SO REALLY KUDOS TO LAURIE FOR THAT AS FAR AS THE WORK THAT SHE'S DONE WITH THAT.
I ALSO WANT TO SEGUE TO SOCIAL MEDIA.
I OFTEN ASK FOLKS THE QUESTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA, GOOD OR BAD? DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. I WILL ABSOLUTELY TELL YOU THAT SOCIAL MEDIA IS BOTH.
BUT FOR THE PURPOSE OF WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT TONIGHT, IF YOU'RE NOT UTILIZING SOCIAL MEDIA TO BE ABLE TO TELL YOUR STORY, YOU REALLY ARE NOT DOING THAT THAT'S A CONVERSATION THAT WE HAVE ALL THE TIME WITH OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS, WITH OUR DEPARTMENTS THAT'S REALLY DRIVING HOME THAT THAT ASPECT OF AS IT RELATES TO IT.
IF YOU CAN LOOK REALLY PEER INTO THAT ON THE PHONE THERE, THAT'S TALKING ABOUT THE ECLIPSE WE TELL OUR STORY IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE AS IT RELATES TO IT.
HERE'S THE OTHER CADENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY DATA POINT FROM THAT STANDPOINT WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT.
HERE'S THE THING HERE WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT AND TALK WITH STAFF ABOUT THIS QUITE A BIT, INDUSTRY STANDARDS AS IT RELATES TO THIS TYPE OF ENGAGEMENT IS 3.3.
FOR MANSFIELD ISD, WE'RE AT 4.2 AS FAR AS OUR ENGAGEMENT AS IT RELATES TO SOCIAL MEDIA AND THAT'S PRETTY SPECIAL.
HERE'S THE THING ALSO I WILL TELL YOU, AS IT RELATES TO THE CONVERSATIONS THAT WE HAVE AS A TEAM.
IT'S SOLID WORK, BUT THE WORK IS NEVER DONE AND WE CHALLENGE OURSELVES EACH AND EVERY DAY FROM A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT STANDPOINT TO GET BETTER EVERY SINGLE DAY HERE AS SOME OF THE PLATFORMS THAT WE LOOK AT UTILIZING FROM A SOCIAL MEDIA STANDPOINT, SOME OF THE STANDARD ONES THAT ARE OUT THERE, YOU LOOK AT TWITTER, FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, LINKEDIN, AND ALSO YOUTUBE.
ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS REALLY INTERESTING AND WE HAVE OUR GO GETTER AS IT RELATES TO THIS PARTICULAR ONE HOPE SIPE.
SHE'S A NEW MEMBER OF THE TEAM, BEEN WITH US HERE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS
[01:35:02]
FROM THAT STANDPOINT AS FAR AS LOOKING AT AND SHE SAID, I HAVE THIS IDEA, I WANT TO DO MISD SWEETHEARTS.AS FAR AS FOLKS WHO ARE HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS, I'M MARRIED TO MY HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART AND I SAY, OKAY, SHE WAS NEW, AND I SAID, OKAY, I'M GOING TO GO WITH YOU, HOPE WE'RE GOING TO LET YOU RUN WITH IT.
IT'S INCREDIBLE WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE ENGAGEMENT 2,600 FROM THE STANDPOINT OF ENGAGEMENT, THIS THING WENT VIRAL WHEN YOU TALK IN TERMS OF 61,000 INDIVIDUALS REACHED IT JUST KIND OF, I WAS LIKE, THAT'S THAT SMALL THING YOU SAY, OKAY, HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS, THE ENGAGEMENT.
IT'S ABOUT MAKING CONNECTIONS WITH THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SERVE EACH AND EVERY DAY.
MAKING IT PERSONAL TO THEM AND HAVING IT WHERE IT MATTERS SO THOSE ARE SOME OF THOSE SAME INDIVIDUALS IN THIS MOMENT THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, TRYING TO TELL THE STORY OF BOND 2024.
EVERYTHING IS A MOMENT, AND EVERYTHING IS FROM A CONNECTION STANDPOINT AS IT RELATES TO FROM AN ENGAGEMENT.
ANOTHER HUGE ASPECT OF WHAT WE DO WHEN YOU TALK IN TERMS OF OUR MARKETING CAMPAIGN.
THEY'RE WIDE AND THEY'RE NUMEROUS FROM THE STANDPOINT OF JOINING THE MISD WINNING TEAM.
YOU CAN SEE WE'RE GETTING READY FOR A JOB FAIR THERE.
WE'RE WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE HR DEPARTMENT, WITH DR. STOCKER AND HER TEAM THIS IS OUR HOUSE FROM A SAFETY AND SECURITY STANDPOINT ABSOLUTELY LOOKING AT DOING THAT CATCH UP WITH CANTU, BOARD BRIEFS AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON FROM THAT STANDPOINT.
ANOTHER ONE THAT WE'RE GOING TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT HERE SHORTLY IS GOING TO BE BOND 2024.
MARKETING CAMPAIGN AS FAR AS LOOKING AT IT, WE DO THIS FROM THE STANDPOINT OF VIDEO STORYTELLING, PRINT MEDIA, AND ALL THOSE THINGS AS WELL BUT I REALLY WANTED TO POINT TO THIS PARTICULAR DATA POINT JUST TO GIVE YOU A VISUAL AS IT RELATES TO WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THIS STANDPOINT FROM A VIDEO STORYTELLING.
WE ADDED THE COMPONENT OF BOARD SUPERSTARS.
YOU GUYS RECOGNIZE STUDENTS EVERY MONTH FROM THE STANDPOINT OF BOARD SUPERSTARS, I WOULD DARE TO SAY, IF I TOOK A VOTE ON THE FACT THAT IT CHANGED THE MOOD AND IT CHANGED THE ENGAGEMENT WE ADDED A VIDEO TO THAT, AND YOU CAN JUST SEE IT ON THE FACES OF FOLKS AS FAR AS DOING THAT, THAT'S THE GREAT WORK OF SERGIO ALMENDARIZ ALONG WITH EMILY HAMLER AS FAR AS WHAT'S TAKING PLACE THERE.
I KNOW FOLKS WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT IT'S JUST POINT AND CLICK IT'S WAY MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT.
WHEN WE TALK IN TERMS OF WHAT OUR TARGET GOAL IS FOR THAT, FOR THE YEAR IT'S 156 VIDEOS AND CURRENTLY RIGHT NOW, YEAR TO DATE, WE'RE AT 66.
I AM SUPER CONFIDENT ON THE FACT THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THERE AND HERE'S THE WHY.
YOU LOOK AT TOP SCHOLARS THAT'S AN EVENT THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO FROM A SPECIAL EVENT STANDPOINT AT THE END OF THE YEAR, THE EMPLOYEE AWARDS EVENT THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO AS IT RELATES TO THAT.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION, WHICH IS NEW TO OUR SYSTEM AND I'M GOING TO SPEAK WITH YOU ABOUT THAT A LITTLE BIT LATER ON SO WE'RE AT NEAR OUR GOAL BUT I HAVE GREAT CONFIDENCE OF THE FACT THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET THERE, TALK WITH YOU EARLIER AS IT RELATES TO, AGAIN WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT MARKETING CAMPAIGN AS FAR AS WHAT WE DO, HERE'S AN EXAMPLE OF THAT COMPONENT OF IT.
I HOPE EVERYONE'S WATCHING ONLINE AS FAR AS TAKING A LOOK AT THIS, BECAUSE IT'S PRETTY SPECIAL WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS.
BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE CAMPAIGNS THAT WE'RE CURRENTLY DOING RIGHT NOW.
>> [MUSIC] MY NAME IS KAYDI AND I'M A FOURTH GRADE STUDENT IN MANSFIELD.
THIS MAY MANSFIELD ISD WILL ASK COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO VOTE ON THE BOND BROKEN UP INTO FIVE BALLOT PROPOSITIONS.
ALL WITHOUT AN INCREASE TO THE TAX RATE OF COURSE, THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO GET INTO, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO GO VOTE ON MAY 4.
FOR MORE INFORMATION VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT MANSFIELDISDBOND.COM.
>> YOU KNOW WHEN THAT YOUNG LADY IS READY, I'M GOING TO HIRE HER IN THE COMMUNICATION IN THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT WHENEVER SHE'S READY.SHE'S SUPER TALENTED, SUPER SWEET AND ALSO THE FACT THAT WE DELIVERED THAT MESSAGE IN SUCH A WAY THAT, AGAIN, IT RESONATED WITH FOLKS AND IT TOUCHED FOLKS AND AGAIN, THAT'S THE GREAT WORK OF SERGIO ALMENDARIZ AND THE FOLKS THAT ARE A PART OF THAT PARTICULAR AREA.
NEW TO THE DISTRICT AND I WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT AND SAY THANK YOU TO THE BOARD.
THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE SAID YES TO WHAT'S TAKING PLACE WITH THIS HEATHER CARSON, ALONG WITH KATIE GEMMEL, THEY KIND OF HEAD UP THIS PARTICULAR INITIATIVE.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION, MANSFIELD ISD LET'S BUILD OPPORTUNITIES TOGETHER, AND WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME THINKING IN TERMS OF WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE AND WHAT THAT WAS GOING TO SO UNDER THAT UMBRELLA IT'S CAN BE A MVP, I REMEMBER HEATHER AND I TALKING ABOUT THIS A YEAR OR SO AGO AND REALLY KIND OF HAVING A BACK AND FORTH OFF OF WHERE WE WANTED TO GO WITH THIS AND SO THAT'S MENTORS, VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT'S SITTING UP THERE ARE PLAYING A ROLE IN THAT.
WE HAVE SEVERAL MENTORS WHO ARE SITTING UP THERE RIGHT NOW AND I KNOW SEVERAL OF THE BOARD MEMBERS WHO ARE DOING THAT AND ALSO STAFF MEMBERS I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THAT BECAUSE IT MATTERS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR STUDENTS.
AGAIN, WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT THE COA RELATED TO THIS DATA POINT, OUR GOAL WAS 50 MENTORS.
I LOVE THE TENACITY, BECAUSE HEATHER WAS LIKE, "I WANT 100. WELL, WHAT ABOUT 150?" I SAID, LET'S START WITH 50 SEE WHAT HAPPENS FROM THAT STANDPOINT.
[01:40:03]
YOU CAN SEE THAT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE DATA, AS FAR AS WHAT IT IS, WE HAVE 62 IMPACT MENTORS, WE HAVE 5,582 VOLUNTEERS, AND WE ALSO HAVE 225 PLUS COMMUNITY PARTNERS.GREAT WORK AS IT RELATES TO THOSE TWO INDIVIDUALS AS FAR AS LOOKING AT THAT ASPECT OF IT.
I WILL SAY, THOUGH, EVEN WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT OCCUR, THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER THINGS THAT WE CAN GET INTO AND TALK ABOUT AS IT RELATES TO COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING.
THE WORK THAT'S TAKING PLACE, ABSOLUTELY IT MATTERS.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT AS IT RELATES TO IT.
AGAIN, AS A DEPARTMENT, IT'S ALL ABOUT HAVING A CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MINDSET, AND I WILL JUST SAY EVEN WITH REGARD TO THE WORK THAT'S BEEN DONE, THE BEST IS YET TO COME. NEXT VIDEO.
>> ONE OF THE THINGS THAT MAKES MANSFIELD ISD A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN, AND TEACH IS THE INCREDIBLE SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY.
FROM PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS TO COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS, TO OUR LOCAL NONPROFIT AND BUSINESS PARTNERS, THE CONTINUED OUTPOURING OF TIME, TALENT, AND RESOURCES MAKES WHAT WE DO POSSIBLE.
MISD'S PARTNERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM OVERSEES OUR MENTORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE FOR ME?
>> I'LL START ON MY RIGHT THIS TIME.
ANYBODY HAVE ANY COMMENTS, MS. THOMAS?
I'M JUST GOING TO SAY THANK YOU TO YOU AND YOUR APARTMENT.
I KNOW IT IS ALMOST A 24/7 JOB.
YOU GUYS DO SO MUCH, AND I'M GOING TO DO A SHOUT OUT TO MISS HEATHER CARSON OUT THERE.
SHE DOES A LITTLE EXTRA BECAUSE SHE'S OUR PTA LIAISON FOR OUR COUNCIL OF PTAS, AND THAT PULLS HER A LOT OF EVENINGS AND SHE'S ALWAYS THERE WHEN WE NEED HER, AND THAT'S JUST IN ADDITION TO WHAT SHE'S DOING DURING THE DAY.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP THAT YOU'VE DONE WITH SUPPORTING OUR PTA AND HELPING DRAFT THINGS WHEN WE NEEDED STUFF DONE AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
YOU DO SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST THE DISTRICT.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR WORK.
>> I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS EITHER.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK.
JUST WATCHING THE VIDEOS GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH YOU GUYS POUR INTO OUR DISTRICT AND HOW MUCH YOU CARE ABOUT IT.
JUST A SMALL LITTLE PLUG FOR THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM.
IT IS AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY.
I'VE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SERVING AS A MENTOR THIS YEAR.
I THINK I'M GETTING MORE OUT OF IT THAN SHE IS.
IT'S JUST IT'S REALLY NEAT TO WATCH THESE KIDS GROW AND OPEN UP OVER THE YEAR.
I'D ENCOURAGE ANYBODY TO REALLY LOOK INTO THAT PARTNERS IN EDUCATION AND SEE IF THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY.
EVEN IF IT'S NOT MENTORSHIP, THE VOLUNTEER, IT WILL BE WORTH YOUR TIME, I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WORK THAT YOU DID PUTTING INTO THAT, BECAUSE IT REALLY IS IMPACTING OUR KIDS.
>> THANK YOU FOR THAT, MISS FARRAR, AND I WILL TELL YOU, I ALSO HAVE A LITTLE MENTEE THAT I WORK WITH, AND WITH THE YOUNG MAN, I GO AND SEE HIM, HE'S AT AN INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL, AND WE SPEND OUR 30 MINUTES TOGETHER HAVING LUNCH, THROWING THE FOOTBALL AROUND AND ALL THOSE THINGS, AND THE CONFIDENCE THAT YOU CAN SEE WITH THE STUDENT AS FAR AS GROWING, AND YOU ABSOLUTELY GET MORE OUT OF IT, REALLY FROM THAT STANDPOINT MAYBE THAN THE KID.
BUT THE BEST PART ABOUT IT IS THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU GETTING READY TO LEAVE, ARE YOU GOING TO COME SEE ME TOMORROW? WHAT ABOUT THURSDAY? PLEASE COME BACK ON FRIDAY.
IT'S SUCH A JOY. THANK YOU FOR THAT.
REALLY APPRECIATE IT. GREAT PROGRAM.
>> THANK YOU FOR THAT PRESENTATION, MR. WILLIAMS. THANK YOU FOR GIVING US THE NUMBERS, BECAUSE THE NUMBERS ALLOW US TO SEE WHERE YOU STARTED AND WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW, AND IT ALSO IDENTIFIES THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU AND YOUR TEAM PUT INTO.
I CAN'T TELL YOU, I SEE LAURIE, I SEE HOPE, I MISS CARSON, I SEE SERGIO, AND YOU ALSO HAVE A MENTEE OR VOLUNTEER FROM BEN BARBER, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.
>> AN INTERN. EXCUSE ME, AN INTERN, YES.
THE STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW THAT, THAT WE HAVE THESE POSSIBILITIES FOR THEM.
THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION, IT WAS VERY INSIGHTFUL, AND I LOVE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE THE NUMBER, SO WE CAN SEE THE IMPACT THAT YOU'RE MAKING IN YOUR AREA.
>> NO QUESTIONS FOR ME. JUST THANK YOU.
I THINK THAT EVERYONE UP HERE AND ALL THESE TABLES THINKS THAT MISD IS THE GREATEST PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE.
THANK YOU GUYS FOR TELLING OUR STORY AND LETTING IT REACH ALL ACROSS THE WORLD SO THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE AND HEAR WHAT WE DO, AND ALL THE SPECIAL PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE WORKING HERE, AND ALL THE SPECIAL STUDENTS THAT LEAVE HERE, AND WHAT WE DO FOR THEM. THANK YOU FOR THAT.
>> THANK YOU, GUYS, SO VERY MUCH.
[01:45:11]
WE'LL NOW MOVE TO ITEM 10, OUR PUBLIC COMMENTS.[10. Public Comments]
AS A COMMUNITY, WE HAVE IT DOWN PAT, I THINK, ON HOW TO REGISTER FOR YOUR STATEMENTS.I WILL GO ON TO READ THE CLAUSE.
THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING THE BOARD DURING PUBLIC COMMENTS IS AS FOLLOWS.
EACH SPEAKER SHOULD ADDRESS THE BOARD FROM THE PODIUM MICROPHONE AND STATE HIS OR HER NAME BEFORE SPEAKING.
ALL SPEAKERS WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE MINUTES TO MAKE COMMENTS REGARDING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA UNLESS MODIFIED BY THE BOARD PRESIDENT, BASED ON BOARD POLICY BED LOCAL.
COPIES OF PRESENTATIONS SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL TRUSTEES AND THE SUPERINTENDENT, AND BOARD POLICY PROHIBITS THE DISCUSSION OR COMPLAINTS AGAINST DISTRICT EMPLOYEES DURING AN OPEN FORUM.
OUR FIRST SPEAKER THIS EVENING IS DARRELL SNEED.
>> GOOD EVENING, DR. WILSON AND BOARD MEMBERS, AND SUPERINTENDENT CANTU.
MY NAME IS DARRELL SNEED AND I LIVE AT 861 TATE STREET IN MANSFIELD, TEXAS.
IT IS OFFICIALLY PAST MY BEDTIME, SO I WILL BE BRIEF.
I'M HERE TONIGHT TO DISCUSS CONCERNS ABOUT ELECTION INTEGRITY.
HAVING SERVED ON THE SCHOOL BOARD AND WORKED IN THE DISTRICT FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, I'VE ALWAYS PRIDED MYSELF IN THE FACT THAT MANSFIELD HAS ALWAYS BEEN A DISTRICT THAT HAS PUT KIDS FIRST, OPERATED WITH INTEGRITY, WORKED TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR ALL STUDENTS.
I COMMEND EVERYONE WHO SERVES ON THE BOARD BECAUSE YOU'RE DOING A JOB THAT YOU VOLUNTEERED FOR.
I APPRECIATE YOUR SERVICE TO THE DISTRICT.
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ASK THE BOARD TO SERIOUSLY ADDRESS CONCERNS THAT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT WAS CONCERNING THE ELIGIBILITY OF A CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR TRUSTEE PLACE 2.
I HAVE PERSONALLY NOT MET OR SPOKEN TO EITHER OF THE CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR THE SEAT.
HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED THAT A THOROUGH EXAMINATION OF QUALIFICATIONS BE MADE AND ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE CAN, AS CITIZENS OF MANSFIELD ISD, HAVE THE UTMOST CONFIDENCE THAT THINGS ARE ABOVE REPROACH AND THINGS ARE BEING DONE DECENTLY AND IN ORDER.
I HAD A CHANCE TO GO THROUGH THE BOARD POLICY TO JUST FAMILIARIZE MYSELF WITH QUALIFICATIONS, WHICH INCLUDE NO FELONY CONVICTION, QUALIFIED VOTER, RESIDENCE OF THE STATE AND TERRITORY OF THE DISTRICT THAT THEY'RE SEEKING TO HOLD OFFICE, REGISTERED TO VOTE, OR A REGISTERED VOTER.
I JUST HAVE CONCERNS BASED ON SOME THINGS I'VE SEEN ABOUT THE CANDIDATE IN QUESTION AS TO, NUMBER 1, WHERE DOES THIS PERSON LIVE? DO THEY ACTUALLY LIVE IN MANSFIELD ISD, OR ARE THEY JUST SIMPLY ATTEMPTING TO RUN FOR A SCHOOL BOARD BASED ON SOME IDEA? AGAIN, I'M ASKING YOU ALL TO PERSONALLY TAKE FOR THE EFFORT TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS DONE QUICKLY, IS DONE THOROUGHLY, AND THAT IS PUT OUT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE SO THAT GOING INTO THE ELECTION, ALL PEOPLE WILL HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT WE'LL PUT ANYTHING TO REST AND THAT WE'RE NOT SWEEPING ANYTHING UNDER THE RUG.
I JUST NEED TO ALSO STATE, AS MY TIME IS JUST ABOUT TO WIND DOWN, AT LEAST PRESIDENT WILSON GIVES ME A FEW MORE SECONDS BECAUSE I AM SLOW AND OLD.
I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I READ VISION 3030, WHICH TALKS ABOUT STUDENTS FIRST, CONTINUOUS LEARNING, CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT, AND INTEGRITY.
TO ME, INTEGRITY IS VERY IMPORTANT.
IT'S IMPORTANT FOR OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT WE AS ADULTS ARE NOT JUST SAYING ONE THING AND DOING ANOTHER, BUT WE ARE ACTUALLY LIVING BY WHAT WE PREACH.
I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE EACH BOARD MEMBER TO TAKE THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY.
I DON'T KNOW THE PERSONS INVOLVED.
I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WHEN I GO TO VOTE, I'M LOOKING AT SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY VETTED AND IS QUALIFIED.
[01:50:03]
FINALLY, I'M GOING TO SAY THIS, MANSFIELD IS NOT A DEMOCRATIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.IT'S NOT A REPUBLICAN SCHOOL DISTRICT.
IT'S A PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.
WE OPERATE WITH THE INTENT TO NOT BE A PARTISAN, BUT TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE DOING WHAT'S BEST FOR OUR KIDS.
IT'S NOT ABOUT LOSING POWER, IT'S REALLY ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT THIS IS DONE IN DECENT ORDER.
PRESIDENT WILSON, THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACEFULNESS AND ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK ONE MINUTE EXTRA.
>> I APPRECIATE YOU AND I'M GOING TO GO AND GET IN BED NOW. THANK YOU.
OUR SECOND SPEAKER IS ALAN TURNER.
MY NAME IS ALAN TURNER AND I STAND BEFORE YOU TODAY TO DISCUSS GROWING NUMBER OF TEACHER RESIGNATIONS IN THE DISTRICT, SPECIFICALLY PARAPROFESSIONALS.
AS A FATHER AND AS AN ADVOCATE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED TO SEE THAT 10 PARAPROFESSIONALS WILL BE LEAVING THE DISTRICT THIS MONTH.
I HAVE CONSTANTLY TALKED WITH MANY OF YOU ABOUT THE LOW PAY OUR PARAPROFESSIONALS RECEIVE, YET NO PLAN HAS BEEN PUT IN PLACE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF PARAS IN THE DISTRICT OR TO INCREASE THEIR PAY TO A LIVABLE WAGE.
THIS HURTS MY CHILD AND ALL THE CHILDREN WITHIN THE DISTRICT WITH DISABILITIES.
YET YOU ARE ASKING THIS COMMUNITY TO GIVE YOU ACCESS TO $777 MILLION OF OUR TAX DOLLARS.
NONE OF WHICH WILL INCREASE THE PAY OF OUR STRUGGLING PARENTS AND TEACHERS OR GIVE ANY FUNDING TO OUR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.
HOW ARE WE AS A COMMUNITY ABLE TO TRUST YOU TO HANDLE THE BOND MONEY CORRECTLY WHEN WE CAN'T EVEN TRUST YOU TO FOLLOW THE ELECTION LAWS OF OUR STATE? YOU AS A BOARD CONTINUE TO HAVE A CANDIDATE ON THE BALLOT IN PLACE TOO, WHO HAS NOT SATISFIED THE MINIMUM STATE REQUIREMENTS OF BEING A REGISTERED VOTER IN THE COUNTY FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO RECEIVING HIS APPLICATION.
THIS IS PART OF THE STATE'S ELECTION LAWS AND YOU ARE VIOLATING THEM.
YOU EVEN WENT AS FAR AS SAYING YOU VERIFIED THIS CANDIDATE'S VOTER REGISTRATION WHEN IN FACT YOU DID NOT, ACCORDING TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE.
INSTEAD OF RECTIFYING THE SITUATION AND REMOVING THE CANDIDATE FROM THE BALLOT, YOU ARE SIMPLY IGNORING AND HOPING THE COMMUNITY DOESN'T CATCH ON.
THESE ARE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES BY THIS BOARD, BUT THEY DON'T BUILD COMMUNITY TRUST [INAUDIBLE] TRUST AND COMMUNITY, SO IT DOESN'T BUILD TRUST AMONG OUR TEACHERS, THE PARENTS OR THE STUDENTS.
BEFORE YOU ASK THIS COMMUNITY TO GIVE YOU THREE QUARTERS OF A BILLION DOLLARS WITH A B DO RIGHT BY OUR TEACHERS, DO RIGHT BY OUR PARENTS, DO WRITE BY ME AS A PARENT, DO RIGHT BY MY CHILDREN WHO ARE STUDENTS IN THIS DISTRICT, DO RIGHT BY THE OTHER CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD, AND DO RIGHT BY THE FUTURE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHO MAY WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS BODY.
DO YOUR JOBS BECAUSE THE FUTURE OF OUR KIDS AND THIS BOARD'S CREDIBILITY DEPENDS ON IT.
>> THANK YOU. OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS MARK HAYES.
I DON'T SEE HIM. OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS EBONY TURNER.
>> GOOD EVENING TO BOARD MEMBERS AND DR. CANTU.
MY NAME IS EBONY TURNER, AND I HAVE TWO CHILDREN IN MANSFIELD ISD.
I'VE ALREADY SENT IN MY FORMAL DEMAND TO HAVE DR. ANGEL HIDALGO CANDIDATE FOR MISD SCHOOL BOARD PLACE 2 DECLARED INELIGIBLE TO RUN AND REMOVED FROM THE BALLOT DUE TO HIS VOTER REGISTRATION STATUS.
BUT HERE'S SOME RELEVANT INFORMATION.
ON JANUARY 18TH, 2024, DR. HIDALGO CANCELED HIS TARRANT COUNTY VOTER REGISTRATION AND LISTED A DALLAS COUNTY ADDRESS.
THE FILING PERIOD FOR THE MANSFIELD ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES WAS JANUARY 17TH, 2024 THROUGH FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH, 2024.
ON JANUARY 30TH, 2024, DR. HIDALGO FILED TO RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE PLACE 2 IN MANSFIELD ISD.
[01:55:04]
ON FEBRUARY 25TH, 2024, DR. HIDALGO REGISTERED TO VOTE IN TARRANT COUNTY MORE THAN A WEEK AFTER THE FILING DEADLINE.THIS IS A CLEAR VIOLATION OF THE LAW.
THE LAW CLEARLY STATES, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RUN AS A CANDIDATE, YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED VOTER AS OF THE FILING DEADLINE.
THEN ON MARCH 1ST, 2024, DR. HIDALGO CAST A PROVISIONAL BALLOT IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY AT THE MANSFIELD COURTHOUSE.
TODAY, MARCH 26TH, FINALLY, DR. HIDALGO'S VOTER REGISTRATION IN TARRANT COUNTY BECOMES EFFECTIVE.
DR. HIDALGO SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PLACED ON THE BALLOT AS A CANDIDATE.
SINCE HE WAS ALLOWED TO BE A CANDIDATE, HE SHOULD NOW BE DECLARED INELIGIBLE.
IT IS UP TO THIS BOARD TO ACT WITH INTEGRITY AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT, REGARDLESS OF PARTY AFFILIATION, NEPOTISM, OR ANY OTHER RELATIONSHIP.
DR. HIDALGO NEEDS TO BE DECLARED INELIGIBLE, WHICH IS WELL WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF THIS SCHOOL BOARD, TO NOT MAKES THE MANSFIELD ISD SCHOOL BOARD COMPLICIT IN VIOLATION OF THE TEXAS ELECTION LAWS.
HOW CAN WE TRUST YOU TO ACT WITHIN THE BEST INTERESTS OF OUR CHILDREN IF WE CAN'T TRUST YOU TO FOLLOW THE LAW? DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR THIS DISTRICT AND OUR STUDENTS.
DECLARE DR. ANGEL HIDALGO'S CANDIDACY INELIGIBLE.
OUR NEXT SPEAKER IS SHARON OSHARD.
THEN OUR FINAL SPEAKER IS KIRSTEN RANDALL.
I'M SORRY, I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE MORE PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THAT.
