THANK YOU, DR. CANTU.

GOOD EVENING. BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, DR.

CANTU, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD CABINET AND TO THE PUBLIC HERE WITH US TONIGHT.

TONIGHT WE WILL BEGIN OUR RECOGNITIONS WITH OUR VERY FIRST SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTARS FOR THE 2023, 2024 SCHOOL YEAR.

EACH MONTH DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, STUDENTS FROM OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ARE SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTAR AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CITIZENSHIP.

THESE YOUNG STUDENTS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FROM THEIR CAMPUS BASED ON THE VIRTUES OF OUTSTANDING CHARACTER CITIZENSHIP, FAIRNESS, HONESTY, KINDNESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND TRUSTWORTHINESS.

BEFORE WE BRING OUR SUPERSTARS UP, I'D LIKE TO ASK YOU GUYS TO PLEASE TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SCREENS TO LEARN WHAT MAKES THESE YOUNG SCHOLARS SO SUPER.

[00:05:17]

HE IS KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO OTHERS.

IT MAKES ME REALLY HAPPY TO GET THIS SCHOOL BOARD AWARD.

KENDALL ENCOMPASSES THE FOUR CORE VALUES WE TEACH HERE AT JANDRUCKO, WHICH ARE EXCELLENCE, RESPECT, KINDNESS AND SERVICE.

SHE'S THE WHOLE PACKAGE AND WE'RE SO LUCKY TO HAVE HER HERE AT JANDRUCKO.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTAR.

AS A TEACHER OF YOUNG CHILDREN, EVERY SINGLE CHILD IS SPECIAL TO ME.

BUT IN THESE FIRST SIX WEEKS OF SCHOOL, LUCY MARTIN CERTAINLY DID STAND OUT.

GETTING AN AWARD. IT MAKES ME FEEL HAPPY AND EXCITED AND SIDE.

NEELY IS A LEADER HERE AT CHARLOTTE ANDERSON.

SHE'S HONEST, SHE'S TRUSTWORTHY, SHE'S CARING, AND SHE'S VERY LOVING AND HELPFUL.

I'M EXCITED TO BE A SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTAR.

IT FEELS AMAZING.

I CHOSE GAGE BECAUSE HE'S NOT ONLY A GREAT ACADEMIC STUDENT, BUT HE ALSO SHOWS ALL OF THE CHARACTER TRAITS THAT WE LOOK FOR AT BROCKETT LIKE BEING RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, BEING HELPFUL, AND A GOOD FRIEND TO EVERYBODY.

TOO EXCITED TO BE CHOSEN BECAUSE OF MY RESPECTFULNESS.

KAYLEE IS AN AMAZING STUDENT HERE AT WILLIE BROWN.

SHE IS VERY, VERY INTELLIGENT AND HAS A GROWTH MINDSET AND JUST WILLING TO JUST KEEP TRYING EVEN WHEN THINGS GET DIFFICULT.

NOMINATED FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTAR AWARD MAKES ME FEEL HAPPY BECAUSE NOW I KNOW I'VE BEEN DOING A GOOD JOB IN SCHOOL.

SO WE CHOSE LEAH BECAUSE SHE IS A SUPER HARD WORKER.

SHE IS ALWAYS AROUND TO HELP AND SHE IS ALWAYS ON TASK AND SHE IS ALWAYS FOCUSED.

ANYTHING THAT I NEED HELP WITH, I KNOW THAT SHE CAN DO IT AND SHE ALWAYS HAS A MOTIVATED SPIRIT.

BEING A SCHOOL BOARD SUPERSTAR MAKES ME FEEL EXCITED AND HAPPY.

MARLEY IS EVERYTHING A DAULTON DRAGON SHOULD BE.

I'M EXCITED THAT I WAS CHOSEN FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD AWARD.

ALL RIGHT.

LET'S GIVE OUR SUPERSTARS ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE.

OKAY. PARENTS AND STUDENTS, IT'S YOUR SPECIAL TIME.

STUDENTS, AS I CALL YOUR NAME, PLEASE COME FORWARD AND GO SEE DR.

SHE'S WAVING HER HAND TO GET YOUR SPECIAL RECOGNITION, AND THEN WE'LL HAVE YOU COME OVER AND STAND RIGHT IN THE CENTER UNTIL ALL OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN CALLED.

[APPLAUSE] THEY MAKE THEIR WAY BACK TO THEIR SEATS.

THANK YOU. MOVING ON TO OUR SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS, I'D LIKE TO INVITE LINDSEY TASHMAN, HOWARD REDFEARN, AND REBECCA SALES FROM THE CITY OF MANSFIELD TO THE PODIUM AS THEY SHARE WITH US ABOUT THE MONARCH WAYSTATION CERTIFICATES THAT ARE BEING AWARDED TO THREE OF OUR AMAZING CAMPUSES.

AND YOU GUYS CAN GO ON AND START MAKING YOUR WAY THOSE CAMPUSES TARVER RENDON AG LEADERSHIP.

LINDA JOBE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND DONNA SHEPARD ACADEMY.

HI, I'M REBECCA SALES AND I'M ON BEHALF OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AND WATER UTILITIES WITH THE CITY OF MANSFIELD.

WE ARE HERE TONIGHT TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER WITH THESE THREE WONDERFUL CAMPUSES WITH LADINO, WITH ZIMBRA, WITH JOHN, TO BE ABLE TO HELP THEIR STUDENTS TRY TO TAKE ACTIONABLE STEPS FOR REAL WORLD PROBLEM.

THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST.

MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT.

AND SO HAVING KIDS BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING WITHIN THEIR OWN POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A REAL WORLD PROBLEM IS A COOL EXPERIENCE.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH.

WE REALLY ENJOYED THE OPPORTUNITY.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUED PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE WE ALL SERVE THE SAME RESIDENTS.

SO IT MAKES SENSE FOR US TO WORK TOGETHER SO THAT WE CAN BOTH BE BETTER IN DOING THAT JOB FOR OUR RESIDENTS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. [APPLAUSE] THANK YOU TO OUR SUPERSTARS AND OUR AMAZING PARTNERS FROM THE CITY OF MANSFIELD.

THAT DOES CONCLUDE TODAY'S RECOGNITIONS.

GOT A LOT OF EXCITING THINGS.

GIVE THEM A SECOND IT'S ALWAYS NICE TO SEE THE KIDS SO MOTIVATED TO GET HOME AND DO THEIR HOMEWORK.

[LAUGHTER] SO WE WILL NOW MOVE TO ITEM SEVEN, OUR DISTRICT INTRODUCTIONS.

[7. District Introductions]

DR. CANTU.

YES, I'M GOING TO GIVE IT TO DR.

JENNIFER STOECKER BECAUSE WE HAVE A FEW NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS TO INTRODUCE TONIGHT, I BELIEVE.

YES, MA'AM, WE DO. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

BOARD MEMBERS THIS EVENING, WE HAVE TWO INDIVIDUALS TO INTRODUCE TO YOU AS ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS IN THE DISTRICT.

FIRST UP, WE HAVE DALLAS SMITH, WHO IS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT DANNY JONES MIDDLE SCHOOL.

AND MR. SMITH IS COMING TO US FROM CROWLEY ISD, WHERE HE ALSO SERVED AS A MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL.

GOOD EVENING. BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, DR.

CANTU AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I'M HONORED TO BE ABLE TO SERVE HERE IN MANSFIELD AT DANNY JONES.

IT WAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ME AND I'VE ALREADY FELT A MAJOR SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT AND ALSO ESPECIALLY FROM MY CAMPUS LEADER, MR. THOMAS. SO I'M VERY GRATEFUL FOR THAT.

AND HERE WITH ME TONIGHT, I HAVE MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE, DEONTE SMITH.

I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT MY EIGHT MONTH OLD SON, BUT HE IS ON A STRICT SLEEP SCHEDULE AND IF WE GET HIM OFF OF THAT, IT'S GOING TO BE HECTIC TO TRY TO GET HIM BACK ON.

SO ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

[APPLAUSE] NEXT UP IS AMBER WASHINGTON.

SHE IS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT JOBE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

JOBE, WHO WAS RECENTLY NAMED FOR THE MONARCH WAYSTATION AWARD.

SO GREAT JOB, JOBE.

MISS WASHINGTON IS COMING TO US MOST RECENTLY FROM DUNCANVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE SHE IS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL.

[00:15:02]

BUT PREVIOUSLY SHE SERVED THE DISTRICT AT LAKE RIDGE AS A TEACHER.

SO WELCOME BACK.

THANK YOU.

GOOD EVENING. BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON AND DR.

CANTU AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, AS THEY SAID, MY NAME IS AMBER WASHINGTON AND I'M PLEASED TO BE BACK IN MANSFIELD ISD SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY, PARTNERING WITH OUR STUDENTS AND OUR PARENTS TO REACH OUR CAMPUS GOALS.

WITH THAT IN MIND, I DEFINITELY WANT TO GIVE A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ME IN THESE ENDEAVORS, AS WELL AS MY CURRENT HEAD PRINCIPAL, MR. HARMISON, AND THEN GO MAVS.

OKAY, SO WE'LL NOW MOVE TO ITEM EIGHT, OUR INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS AND DR.

[8. Instructional Focus ]

CANTU. YES, THANK YOU, PRESIDENT WILSON.

JENNIFER YOUNG IS GOING TO COME FORWARD AND SHARE WITH US ABOUT EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN MANSFIELD ISD.

AND I JUST WANT TO BEFORE SHE GETS GOING, I JUST WANT TO SAY TODAY AND FOR QUITE A WHILE THERE HAS BEEN A TON OF BUZZ AROUND EDUCATION AND PARTICULARLY PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

IN FACT, WE HAVE A SPECIAL SESSION COMING UP.

IT'S GOING TO BE STARTING IN OCTOBER WHERE WE ARE GOING TO BE TAKING A LOOK AT VOUCHERS AS A STATE OF TEXAS IN THAT LEGISLATIVE SESSION.

AND WE ARE ALSO GOING TO BE LOOKING AT FULLY FUNDING, HOPEFULLY PUBLIC EDUCATION AS IT SHOULD BE.

IT'S MUCH NEEDED.

WE'RE LUCKY IN MANSFIELD ISD, THOUGH, THAT CHOICE HAS EXISTED FOR US.

YOU KNOW, VOUCHERS ARE ABOUT CHOICE AND CHOICE HAS EXISTED IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOR QUITE A WHILE AND CHOICE HAS EXISTED WITHIN MANSFIELD ISD FOR QUITE A WHILE AS WELL.

OUR STUDENTS ARE VERY BLESSED.

THEY HAVE TONS OF INDIVIDUALIZED EXPERIENCES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RIGHT HERE IN OUR VERY OWN PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD.

AND SO I JUST AM EXCITED FOR JENNIFER TO SHOW YOU WHY WE AND OUR FAMILIES CHOOSE MANSFIELD ISD.

THANK YOU, DR. CANTU.

BOARD PRESIDENT WILSON, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

THIS IS A DIFFERENT PRESENTATION.

THIS IS AN EXCITING PRESENTATION BECAUSE WE'RE NOT LOOKING AT NUMBERS.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT KIDS AND WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PROGRAMS. AND I'M EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS ALL OF THE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES WE HAVE FOR OUR STUDENTS HERE IN MANSFIELD ISD.

WHEN WE TALK ABOUT VISION 2030, A LOT OF TIMES WHEN I'M UP HERE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE GUIDING STATEMENTS AND WE'RE TALKING ABOUT STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND BEING LIVE COLLEGE AND CAREER READY.

BUT WHAT I WANT TO FOCUS ON TONIGHT IS REALLY THE VISION OF MISD.

AND THAT VISION IS BEING A DESTINATION DISTRICT COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT IN EVERYTHING THAT WE DO, IN EVERY DEPARTMENT THAT WE'RE CREATING ENVIRONMENTS FOR OUR STAFF AND FOR OUR STUDENTS WHERE THEY ALL WANT TO COME TO MANSFIELD.

AND I ALWAYS LOVE IT WHEN WE INTRODUCE PEOPLE THAT WERE IN MANSFIELD.

THEY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEY COME BACK.

TO ME THAT'S A SIGN THAT YOU'RE DOING THINGS THE RIGHT WAY WHEN PEOPLE WANT TO BE A PART OF YOUR ORGANIZATION.

AND SO TONIGHT, WE'RE JUST GOING TO TAKE JUST THE GLIMPSE INTO ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT WE OFFER AS A DISTRICT THAT I THINK HELP MAKE US A DESTINATION DISTRICT COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE.

SO A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, I TALKED ABOUT ADVANCED ACADEMICS AND WE LOOKED AT THE NUMBERS AND WE LOOKED AT AP SCORES AND DUAL CREDIT AND ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

BUT WHEN WE TALK ABOUT ADVANCED ACADEMICS, IT'S REALLY SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST TEST AND COURSES.

IN OUR GT PROGRAM WE HAVE OVER 2500 STUDENTS AND IN MANSFIELD ISD WE SCREEN ALL STUDENTS AT SECOND GRADE.

AND SO WE BELIEVE THAT GT ISN'T SOMETHING THAT YOU AS A PARENT JUST APPLY FOR.

BUT WE HAVE TEACHERS SKILLED IN IDENTIFYING STUDENTS AT THE YOUNGER GRADES, AND SO WE START THAT SCREENING PROCESS IN SECOND GRADE.

IF YOU LOOK, WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT PSAT AND SAT AND YOU GUYS KNOW THAT WE GIVE THOSE TESTS FREE FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WE HAVE THE DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM THAT'S COMPLETELY FREE.

THIS LAST YEAR, WE HAD OVER 900 STUDENTS IN DUAL CREDIT AND THEY ATTEMPTED AND RECEIVED OVER 11,000 COLLEGE CREDIT HOURS.

AND AGAIN, THAT PROGRAM IS FREE FOR OUR KIDDOS.

BUT WHAT'S ALSO REALLY COOL IS YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN AN ADVANCED CLASS OR YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR A DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM TO ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF ADVANCED

[00:20:05]

ACADEMICS. WE OFFER A COLLEGE NIGHT FOR EVERY STUDENT AND EVERY FAMILY THAT WANTS TO ATTEND, AND THAT'S COMING UP HERE IN OCTOBER.

WE HAVE OPPORTUNITIES LIKE WHIZ QUIZ AND MATH, PENTATHLON AND DESTINATION IMAGINATION.

AND THEN MANY OF YOU I KNOW HAVE BEEN AT THE INDEPENDENT STUDY FAIR WHERE YOU GET TO JUDGE GT PROJECTS.

AND IT'S AMAZING TO SIT AND LISTEN TO THESE STUDENTS, HAVE THESE INDEPENDENT STUDY PROJECTS AND LISTEN TO THEIR PRESENTATIONS.

SO WE HAVE LOTS OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR KIDS IN TERMS OF ADVANCED ACADEMICS, STEM AND STEAM ARE VERY POPULAR TOPICS AND WE'VE TALKED ABOUT INCREASING STEM OFFERINGS IN OUR DISTRICT AND YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE STEM AND STEAM SCHOOLS.

WE'VE GOT NORWOOD AND MARTINEZ AND JERRY KNIGHT STEM ACADEMY AND MCKINZEY AND FRONTIER STEM.

AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE ROBERTA TIPPS.

THAT'S A STEAM ACADEMY.

AND SO THE WHOLE POINT OF STEM AND STEM EDUCATION IS CREATING ENVIRONMENTS WHERE KIDS HAVE HANDS ON CHALLENGING COURSEWORK, WHERE THEY COLLABORATE AND THEY LEARN SKILLS THAT MAKE THEM LIFE READY FOR HIGH DEMAND CAREERS.

AND THEY HAVE DESIGN TIME AND THEY GO IN WITH MAKER SPACE AND THEY MAKE MODELS AND THEY SOLVE REAL WORLD PROBLEMS AND DO FUTURE FORWARD PROJECTS.

MANY OF YOU HAVE SERVED ALONGSIDE ME JUDGING THOSE PROJECTS AND THE THINGS THAT THEY'RE ABLE TO COME UP WITH AND THEIR PRESENTATION SKILLS ARE PHENOMENAL.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WE HAVE TEACHERS THAT ARE CERTIFIED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR STEM EDUCATION AS CERTIFIED STEM SPECIALIST.

AND THEN THIS SPRING, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE OUR VERY OWN CONVERSATION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION.

AND SO OUR STEM STUDENTS ARE GOING TO ACTUALLY ENGAGE WITH THE ASTRONAUTS IN THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION.

SO LOTS OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STEM AND STEAM.

A LOT OF TIMES WHAT WE FAIL TO MENTION IS THAT EVERY ONE OF OUR CAMPUSES HAS A CLUB DEDICATED TO STEM.

AND SO IF YOU'RE NOT IN A STEM SCHOOL, YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE IN STEM ACTIVITIES THROUGH ROBOTICS CLUB AND STEM ORGANIZED CLUBS AS WELL.

CTE HAS BEEN GIVEN A LOT OF ATTENTION LATELY.

WHEN WE'VE TALKED ABOUT CCMR AND THE CERTIFICATES WE OFFER OUR KIDS, BUT I THOUGHT TONIGHT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO HIGHLIGHT ALL OF THE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS OF STUDY THAT WE OFFER THROUGH OUR CTE PROGRAM.

JUST AS A REMINDER TO YOU, WHEN KIDS SIGN UP AND TAKE THESE CTE COURSES, THOSE ARE WEIGHTED COURSES.

WE GET ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THOSE COURSES.

BUT IF YOU'LL NOTICE, THERE ARE 14, WHAT WE CALL PROGRAMS OF STUDY THAT WE OFFER AT BEN BARBER.

SOME REALLY COOL THINGS THAT WE DO AT BEN BARBER THAT YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE OF IS WE HAVE A DRONE PROGRAM THAT'S HOUSED IN OUR TRANSPORTATION DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS PROGRAM.

WE HAVE STEM.

WE ALSO HAVE HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM.

SO SAVVY'S RESTAURANT IS PART OF THAT.

IF YOU LOOK AT OUR HEALTH SERVICES PROGRAM OF STUDY AND YOU GO TO BEN BARBER, WE HAVE OUR OWN PHARMACY, WE HAVE OUR OWN HOSPITAL ROOM, WE HAVE OUR OWN NURSING FACILITY ROOM.

AND SO KIDS CAN ALSO LEARN PHLEBOTOMY.

AND FERNANDO BENAVIDEZ VOLUNTEERED THE OTHER DAY TO HAVE STUDENTS DRAW BLOOD.

THEY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL, BUT IT WAS THEIR FIRST ATTEMPT.

AND BUT THE REALLY ENCOURAGING THING WAS FERNANDO SAID HE WAS GOING TO MEET WITH THE LOBOTOMY STUDENTS.

AND I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT WE DON'T DO LOBOTOMIES YET, BUT PHLEBOTOMY IS AS CLOSE AS WE'VE GOTTEN SO FAR.

[LAUGHTER] BUT OUR KIDS HAVE THESE REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES THAT ARE PREPARING THEM FOR LIFE, COLLEGE AND CAREER.

ANOTHER REALLY COOL THING IS IN OUR LAW, PUBLIC SAFETY, CORRECTIONS AND SECURITY PROGRAM OF STUDY, OUR KIDS GET THEIR FIRST INTRODUCTION INTO WHAT IT TAKES TO BE AN ATTORNEY.

AND WE HAVE A COURTROOM WHERE THEY DO COURT SCENES AND DO MOCK TRIALS, AND IT'S JUST REALLY A COOL SITUATION.

AND THEN LASTLY, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT WE HAVE AUTO MECHANICS WHERE YOU CAN GO IN THERE WORKING ON CARS.

WE'VE GOT WELDING, WE'VE GOT CONSTRUCTION.

AND SO JUST AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE PROVIDE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL THAT WANT TO PARTICIPATE.

IT'S OPEN TO ALL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL KIDDOS.

NOW, ALONG WITH CTE, WE ALSO OFFER CERTIFICATIONS FOR STUDENTS AND THESE ARE OFFERED COMPLETELY FREE TO KIDS.

AND SO DEPENDING ON THE COURSE THAT THEY TAKE, THEY'RE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE CERTIFICATIONS.

AND SO I'VE LISTED UP HERE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON CERTIFICATIONS.

BUT STUDENTS CAN LEAVE MANSFIELD ISD WITH A CERTIFICATION AS A DRONE PILOT.

THEY CAN GET THEIR OSHA CERTIFICATION THEIR ASC AUTOMOTIVE CERTIFICATION.

THEY CAN BE A PHLEBOTOMIST, THEY CAN BE A VET TECH, THEY CAN BE A CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECH.

[00:25:05]

SO THEY CAN BE WORKING AT A PHARMACY RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL.

AND SO THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE CERTIFICATIONS THAT I'VE LISTED UP HERE.

WE HAVE OVER 41 DIFFERENT CERTS THAT WE OFFER.

AND THIS LAST YEAR WE HAD STUDENTS EARN OVER 1300 CERTIFICATIONS AND THAT HELPS THEM ALSO WITH THAT COLLEGE CAREER, MILITARY READINESS.

AND THE LAST THING I WANT TO INDICATE WITH CTE IS OUR INTERNSHIPS.

IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT WE GIVE KIDS AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE CAREERS WHILE THEY'RE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

AND SO CURRENTLY WE HAVE OVER 163 BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.

HERE ARE A FEW LISTED UP HERE AND YOU CAN SEE THAT IT'S MULTIPLE CITIES.

WE HAVE POLICE OFFICES, WE HAVE HIGHER ED, WE HAVE HEALTH SERVICES, WE HAVE CITY OFFICES, DISTRICT OFFICES.

AND SOMETHING REALLY COOL WE STARTED LAST YEAR WAS THROUGH THESE INTERNSHIPS.

MANY OF OUR STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM MANSFIELD ISD AND GO STRAIGHT INTO A CAREER.

SO LAST YEAR WE HELD OUR FIRST CAREER SIGNING DAY AND WE HONORED 14 STUDENTS WHO, THROUGH THEIR INTERNSHIPS WHEN THEY GRADUATED, THEY LANDED FULL TIME JOBS.

AND SO WE WERE ABLE TO CELEBRATE THAT AND WE'RE CONTINUING TO GROW THAT PROGRAM AND ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE HAVE, NOT ONLY HERE IN MANSFIELD BUT ALSO IN ARLINGTON, KENNEDALE AND SURROUNDING AREAS.

NEXT, I WANT TO TALK BRIEFLY ABOUT LANGUAGE ACQUISITION.

I THINK WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, YOU CHOSE FROM FRENCH OR SPANISH, AND I THOUGHT SPANISH WAS TOO HARD AFTER ONE YEAR.

SO I DID FRENCH AND THAT'S REALLY SERVED ME WELL.

AND SO BUT WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU IS WE OFFER JAPANESE, CHINESE, GERMAN, SIGN LANGUAGE.

OBVIOUSLY WE OFFER SPANISH.

BUT KIDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE NOT JUST ONE, BUT SOMETIMES MULTIPLE LANGUAGES.

ONE OF THE LANGUAGES I DIDN'T PUT ON THE SCREEN IS COMPUTER SCIENCE.

THE STATE OF TEXAS RECOGNIZES THAT AS A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH BECAUSE OF THE CODING.

AND SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS TAKE THAT FOR THEIR SECOND LANGUAGE.

ALSO JUST TO HIGHLIGHT OUR TWO WAY DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM AND THAT PROGRAM WE HAVE NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKERS AND NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS LEARNING IN HALF TIME, SPANISH, HALF TIME ENGLISH, AND THE WHOLE POINT AND THE WHOLE GOAL IS TO HAVE BILITERATE STUDENTS.

AND SO WE HAVE THOSE PROGRAMS AT SOME OF OUR ELEMENTARIES AND INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS.

AND THEN AT ALICE PONDER, WE HAVE A ONE WAY DUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM, AND THIS IS FOR OUR NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKERS.

AND THEY LEARN HALF THEIR DAYS IN SPANISH AND HALF THEIR DAYS IN ENGLISH.

AND SO JUST A LOT OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO LEARN A SECOND LANGUAGE.

ALSO, I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THAT WE HAVE UNIQUE OPTIONS FOR OUR KIDS.

AND SO IF A KID HAS A PARTICULAR INTEREST, THERE'S A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE WE HAVE A CLASS FOR IT.

OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE ALL KINDS OF ART CLASSES.

WE HAVE JROTC.

YOU SEE THEM AT EVERY BOARD MEETING.

WE'VE GOT CLASSES IN COMMUNITY SERVICE AND TEEN LEADERSHIP AND AG LEADERSHIP AND OUR TRAINERS THAT WORK WITH OUR SPORTS CLUBS AND OUR SPORTS TEAMS. WE HAVE SPORTS MEDICINE.

WE HAVE, YOU KNOW, YOU CAN EARN AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE AT EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO THE OPTIONS ARE REALLY LIMITLESS TO WHAT WE OFFER OUR KIDDOS.

AND SO I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT A FEW OF THOSE THINGS.

AND NEXT, JUST FINE ARTS.

I KNOW DR.

JOHNSON'S HERE OR HE WAS HERE EARLIER, BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE'VE RECOGNIZED OUR FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT.

THEY RECEIVED A DISTINCTION FOR ART EDUCATION RECENTLY, AND THEN THEY WERE NAMED ONE OF THE BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION.

AND SO WE'VE GOT LOTS OF GREAT THINGS HAPPENING IN OUR FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT.

WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE OUR SCHOOLS OF CHOICE THAT ARE OUR FINE ARTS ACADEMIES.

BUT IN ADDITION TO THAT, WE HAVE AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPOSE OUR KIDS TO ART.

AND SO LAST WEEK I KNOW OUR THIRD GRADERS WERE ABLE TO COME TO THE CENTER AND EXPERIENCE THE FORT WORTH OPERA.

WE GIVE OUR KIDS OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN ORCHESTRA, BAND, CHOIR, THEATER.

AND YOU CAN SEE WE'VE GOT THE STATE BOUND SUMMIT, STATE BOUND SUMMIT BAND.

THAT'S A LOT TO SAY.

YOU CAN SEE WE'VE GOT ALL-STATE MUSICIANS.

WE'VE GOT A PIANO LAB WHERE KIDS ARE LEARNING TO PLAY THE PIANO.

AND SO WE JUST HAVE LOTS OF GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS.

ALSO RECENTLY HERE AT THE CENTER, WE HOSTED AN ART SHOW.

ALL OF THE ART WAS PRODUCED BY OUR ART TEACHERS.

AND SO OUR KIDS ARE REALLY BEING TAUGHT BY SOME TALENTED INDIVIDUALS.

SO LOTS OF GREAT OPTIONS FOR OUR KIDS WITH ART.

WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT EXTRACURRICULAR, OBVIOUSLY THAT'S FINE ARTS, BUT IT'S ALSO ATHLETICS.

[00:30:04]

AND I THINK EITHER NEXT MONTH OR THE MONTH AFTER, YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR A REPORT FROM PHILIP O'NEAL, OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ON ATHLETICS AT MISD.

BUT YOU KNOW THAT WE OFFER SPORTS AND COMPETITIVE SPORTS FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL UP AND WE HAVE AMAZING FACILITIES.

WE HAVE AN INCREDIBLE NATATORIUM THAT'S NOT ONLY FOR OUR SWIMMERS, BUT WE ALSO BRING OUR ELEMENTARY KIDS THERE TO TEACH THEM WATER SAFETY.

BUT KIDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO ALL KINDS OF THINGS, EXTRACURRICULAR.

WE'VE GOT THE LEGACY, THE WRITER NEWSPAPER, THE AWARD WINNING STUDENT JOURNALISM PROGRAM.

WE HAVE SPECIAL OLYMPICS.

WE HAVE ACADEMIC UIL CONTESTS THAT OUR KIDS PARTICIPATE IN.

AND SO YOU CAN SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS LISTED UP THERE.

BUT OUR KIDS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN A MULTITUDE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

AND THEN IF THEY AREN'T INTERESTED IN FINE ARTS OR ATHLETICS OR IF THAT'S JUST NOT THEIR JAM.

WE ALSO HAVE TONS OF CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS.

AND SO I LOOKED ON ONE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL PAGES, TWO WEBSITES TODAY, AND THEY HAD OVER 40 CLUBS LISTED.

AND SO IF A KID HAS AN INTEREST AND THEY CAN FIND A TEACHER WHO WILL SPONSOR IT, THE SKY'S THE LIMIT.

ONE THING I THINK IS PRETTY COOL, WE HAVE A BASS FISHING CLUB AND SO KIDS CAN GET TOGETHER THAT LOVE FISHING AND THEY GO OUT AND FISH TOURNAMENTS.

WE HAVE HOCKEY CLUBS, ROBOTICS, GUITAR CLUBS.

AGAIN, WE HAVE TONS OF OFFERINGS ON EACH CAMPUS SO THAT WE CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF KIDS AND HELP THEM STAY INTERESTED IN SCHOOL.

AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WE TALK A LOT ABOUT PHYSICAL SAFETY, AND THAT'S EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

BUT WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE WE'RE TAKING CARE OF OUR KIDS SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND MENTALLY.

AND SO OUR DISTRICT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PROACTIVE IN PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

AND THOSE SUPPORTS COME IN A VARIETY OF WAYS, WHETHER IT'S SUPPORTING OUR SPECIAL POPULATION STUDENTS, WHETHER IT'S MENTORING PROGRAM FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL KIDS TO MENTOR OUR ELEMENTARY KIDS.

WE HAVE GUIDANCE COUNSELORS THAT HELP WITH ACADEMIC PLANNING AND ALSO CRISIS SUPPORT.

WE HAVE OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS OUR HOUSE CAMPAIGN WHERE IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, YOU SAY SOMETHING TO KEEP US SAFE.

WE'VE GOT SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING.

AND THEN RIGHT AFTER THE PANDEMIC, YOU'LL REMEMBER WE STARTED CARE SOLACE, WHICH IS THE PROGRAM WHERE IF A STAFF MEMBER OR A STUDENT NEEDS SUPPORTS, THEY CAN REACH OUT.

IT'S FREE OF CHARGE.

THEY CAN GET COUNSELING AND OTHER SUPPORTS THAT THEY NEED FREE OF CHARGE.

AND AGAIN, OUR DISTRICT SCORECARD, OUR STUDENT SCORECARD, WE'RE HELPING STUDENTS DETERMINE WHETHER THEY'RE LIVE COLLEGE OR CAREER READY.

AND ALL OF THAT REALLY COMES TOGETHER WITH THE WORK WE'RE DOING WITH REDEFINING READY, WHICH IS ALL BASED ON THE COLLEGE LIFE AND CAREER READY PIECE.

AND WE'RE GETTING READY TO HOST THE REDEFINING READY SUMMIT HERE IN MANSFIELD IN OCTOBER.

SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE SOME OF THIS WORK WITH THEM AT THAT TIME AS WELL.

BUT AGAIN, VISION 2030, IT'S ALL ABOUT BEING A DESTINATION DISTRICT COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE.

AND SO WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT DESTINATION DISTRICT, HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE A DESTINATION? WELL, FIRST OF ALL, PEOPLE HAVE TO SHOW UP.

AND SO WE FOUND OUT YESTERDAY THAT SINCE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WE'VE HAD 1093 STUDENTS ENROLL.

SO PEOPLE ARE COMING TO MANSFIELD.

AND NOT ONLY ARE THEY COMING TO MANSFIELD, BUT OUR ATTENDANCE RATE FOR THE FIRST SIX WEEKS IS 96.28%.

THAT'S HIGHER THAN IT'S BEEN SINCE BEFORE THE PANDEMIC.

AND SO I'M A BIG BELIEVER.

AND IF YOU CREATE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE KIDS FEEL LOVED, SUPPORTED AND NURTURED AND STAFF FEEL LIKE THEY'RE TAKING CARE OF AND SUPPORTED, THEN PEOPLE WILL COME.

AND SO THE FACT THAT WE HAVE OVER A THOUSAND STUDENTS ENROLLED SINCE DAY ONE AND THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY COMING TO SCHOOL, I THINK IT SHOWS THAT WE'RE WELL ON OUR WAY TO JUST CONTINUING TO BE THE DESTINATION DISTRICT COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE.

AND SO AT THIS TIME, I'LL OPEN IT UP FOR ANY QUESTIONS.

I'LL TRY NOT TO GO FIRST BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO AFTER WHAT YOU JUST SAID.

SO MS. FARRAR, I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY WHEN YOU GO THROUGH ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS THAT WE HAVE AND ORGANIZATIONS, IT MAKES ME REALLY PROUD TO BE A MANSFIELD RESIDENT, HAVE MY KIDS IN MANSFIELD ISD.

SO THANK YOU FOR THE EFFORT THAT NOT ONLY OUR STAFF PUTS INTO IT, BUT REALLY OUR COMMUNITY AS WELL.

I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAVE STUDENTS IN THE MENTORSHIP OR IS IT THE MENTORSHIP? THE MENTORING PROGRAM. THE MENTORING PROGRAM? AND THEY LOVE IT. THEY GET I THINK THEY GET OUT OF IT JUST AS MUCH AS THE KIDS ARE.

ABSOLUTELY. AND SO THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY FOR ALWAYS POURING IN TO OUR STUDENTS AS WELL.

WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS SO MUCH.

THANK YOU, DR.

[00:35:03]

REED. I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR HIGHLIGHTING MOST OF WHAT WE DO HERE AT MANSFIELD ISD.

NOT ALL OF IT. WE'D BE HERE ALL NIGHT AND INTO THE MORNING, BUT I'M GRATEFUL FOR THAT PRESENTATION BECAUSE IT SHOWS THE COMMITMENT THAT OUR EDUCATORS AND OUR STAFF HAS TO EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.

IT IS MY HOPE THAT EVERYONE WILL WATCH THAT PRESENTATION AND THEY WILL ASK THE COUNSELORS, THE PRINCIPALS ON THE CAMPUSES, TEACHERS, WHAT CAN YOU KNOW, I WANT MY DAUGHTER, I WANT MY SON TO GET IN ONE OF THESE CLUBS.

I WANT THEM TO BE IN ONE OF THE ACTIVITIES, THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, BUT IN SOMETHING SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW THAT THEY ARE A PART OF A COMMUNITY THAT CARES ABOUT THEM.

AND THE TEACHERS WILL BE CELEBRATED AS WELL AS THE ADMINISTRATORS.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT PRESENTATION.

I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

WELL, TO YOUR POINT, DR.

REED, AS YOU START PUTTING THINGS LIKE THIS TOGETHER, YOU'RE LIKE, I'M GOING TO LEAVE SOMETHING BIG OUT AND THEN I'M GOING TO GET AN EMAIL WHEN I SIT DOWN AND GO, WHY DIDN'T YOU TALK ABOUT MY PROGRAM? BECAUSE WE DO OFFER SO MANY THINGS.

[LAUGHTER] AND SO IF I DID LEAVE ANYBODY OUT, SORRY, BUT WE DIDN'T WANT TO BE HERE ALL NIGHT.

BUT WE DO OFFER SO MANY THINGS FOR OUR KIDDOS, SO THAT'S EXCITING TO BE A PART OF.

MS. NEWSOM.

AGAIN, NO QUESTIONS.

WE LOVE THESE KIND OF PRESENTATIONS.

MOST OF US LIVE FOR EVEN THE LITTLE STAR AWARDS RIGHT ON THERE ARE THE DAYS THAT WE GET TO GO OUT AND GO TO EVENTS AT THE SCHOOLS AND SEE KIDS AND INTERACT WITH KIDS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. SO AND THEN OBVIOUSLY TONIGHT, GETTING TO KIND OF SPEND SOME TIME WITH OUR PRINCIPALS AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

SO I ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T LEAVE OUT ALL OF YOU GUYS ON THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND TEAM AND THE ADMINISTRATORS BECAUSE YOU GUYS WERE ONCE IN THESE TEACHER ROLES AND, YOU KNOW, MID ADMINISTRATION AND STUFF AND YOU GUYS ARE SETTING THOSE EXPECTATIONS AND GETTING TO WATCH OVER THE YEARS, FOLKS IN THE DISTRICT THAT STARTED AND CAME NEW AND THEN THEY GOT TO BE AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AND A PRINCIPAL AND STUFF AND MOVE UP AND IT'S JUST IT'S SO EXCITING TO WATCH PEOPLE'S CAREERS, BUT IT MEANS THAT WE'RE BUILDING SOMETHING AMAZING HERE AND THAT WE'RE ALL DOING IT TOGETHER AND WE ALL HAVE THAT SAME VISION.

SO I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL THOSE THANK YOUS GET PLACED IN THE RIGHT, RIGHT PLACES.

SO. WE'LL MEET WITH THE PRINCIPALS TOMORROW.

SO I'LL MAKE SURE TO LET THEM KNOW.

I KNOW AND WE TRIED TO MEET WITH THE OTHER PRINCIPALS TONIGHT AND I WAS LIKE, CAN THIS BE LIKE A THREE HOUR THING INSTEAD OF A ONE HOUR THING? SO BUT IT'S WONDERFUL.

MISS ANDERSON.

I ECHO EVERYTHING THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS SAYING.

HAVE NO QUESTIONS.

I AM AT ALL.

EACH TIME I LOOK AT THE THINGS THAT WE DO AND AMAZE AND AMAZE THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE WILLING TO STAY BEHIND OR COME EARLY JUST TO BE A PART OF THESE KIDS LIVES.

AND SEEING THAT OVER.

AND I USED TO TELL MY KIDS WHEN THEY WERE YOUNGER, IF YOU CAN'T FIND SOMETHING TO DO AT THE SCHOOL, YOU'RE NOT LOOKING BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO.

SO AGAIN, THANK YOU AND THANK OUR STAFF IMMENSELY.

MS. THOMAS. OKAY.

SO DITTO. DITTO. DITTO.

DITTO. BUT MY OLDEST DAUGHTER AND I WERE JUST HAVING THIS CONVERSATION JUST THE OTHER DAY.

SHE'S GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE AND SHE HAD LIKE A REALIZATION THAT SHE WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE IN MANSFIELD.

AND SHE WAS LIKE, MOM, I NEVER REALIZED HOW MUCH WE'RE OFFERED UNTIL SHE GETS TO SCHOOL AND SHE STARTS TALKING TO FRIENDS AND DOESN'T EVEN REALIZE THAT SHE HAD SUCH OPPORTUNITY HERE.

AND I THINK A LOT OF OUR KIDS REALIZE THAT, LIKE AFTER THEY LEAVE, HOW LUCKY THEY ARE AND SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE GIVE THEM.

SO I THANK YOU FOR HIGHLIGHTING ALL OF IT BECAUSE I KNOW THAT NOT EVERYTHING WILL FIT ON THOSE SLIDES, BUT IT IS FUN TO SIT AND WATCH THAT.

BUT OUR KIDS ARE VERY LUCKY TO BE IN MISD.

MR. TIPPING. YES.

YES. I AGAIN, I ECHO WHAT EVERYONE HAS SAID, AND I JUST I CAN ATTEST TO IT PERSONALLY BECAUSE MY NINE YEAR OLD GOES TO SCHOOL AT 7:30 AND IS THERE UNTIL 4:30 OR 5 BECAUSE HE'S IN SO MANY OF THESE CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS AND AND SO FORTH.

AND AND I ASKED HIM, I'M LIKE, YOU WANT TO BE AT SCHOOL THAT LONG? AND HE'S LIKE, YEAH, I WANT TO DO THESE THINGS.

AND I THINK THAT IS JUST A TESTAMENT TO JUST THE TEACHERS AND THE STAFF AND THE PEOPLE THAT ARE OVER THESE PROGRAMS AND THE COMMITMENT THAT THEY SHOW TO THAT, THAT THE KIDS WANT TO BE THERE.

AND THAT TO ME, THAT'S THE BIGGEST REWARD OF ALL, IS WHEN THE KIDS WANT TO PARTICIPATE AND WANT TO BE INVOLVED WITH IT.

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

ALL RIGHT. WELL, YOU HAD ME AT HELLO.

[LAUGHTER] NO, BUT SERIOUSLY, AND THEN WHEN YOU TOPPED IT OFF WITH THAT, WE'RE GROWING THE KIDS.

MORE AND MORE KIDS WANT TO BE HERE.

I MEAN, THAT'S AMAZING RIGHT NOW.

AND THE TIMES THAT WE'RE SEEING WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

AND THEN WHEN YOU TELL ME THEY DO COME TO SCHOOL AND WE'VE SEEN A DAILY ATTENDANCE RATE LIKE WE HAVEN'T SEEN IN YEARS NOW, BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE WE'RE ALMOST FOUR YEARS OUT OF COVID.

[00:40:01]

SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

IT WAS A VERY NICE, REFRESHING PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU.

OKAY, SO WE DO MYSELF OFF.

THERE WE GO. WE'LL MOVE TO ITEM NINE, OUR PRESENTATIONS.

[9. Presentation]

DR. CANTU. YES.

DR. MATT BROWN IS ALREADY AT THE PODIUM TO GIVE HIS NICE AND REFRESHING PRESENTATION ON STUDENT SERVICES AND THE SYSTEMS REPORT.

OKAY, WE'RE A LITTLE AHEAD, SO I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GO.

LET ME SEE IF I CAN GO BACK HERE.

OKAY. ALL RIGHT.

WE'RE READY TO GO. THANK YOU SO MUCH, PRESIDENT WILSON, DR.

CANTU, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE WITH YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR STUDENT SERVICES SYSTEMS AND THEIR REPORT THIS EVENING.

I'M REALLY EXCITED TO SHARE SOME GREAT THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING AND THE IMPACT THAT WE'RE HAVING HERE IN MISD.

SO I WANT TO START BY JUST REVIEWING OUR ORGANIZATIONAL CHART.

WE HAVE A GREAT TEAM HERE IN THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT LED BY OUR FEARLESS LEADER, MR. WRIGHT, WHO HAS THE LARGEST PICTURE ON THE SCREEN AS APPROPRIATE.

AND ALTHOUGH ALTHOUGH MYSELF AND DR.

VARDY PRIMARILY SERVE IN OUR STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT, MS. FORTNER, MS. TAYLOR, DARWERT JOHNSON, MR. ROE, THEY'RE ALL UNDER OUR UMBRELLA.

SO WE COULD NOT DO THE WORK WE DO WITHOUT HAVING ALL OF THOSE GUYS WORKING TOGETHER AND THOSE LADIES WORKING TOGETHER.

SO WE'RE REALLY HAPPY TO HAVE THAT TEAM.

TODAY I'M GOING TO FOCUS PRIMARILY ON OUR STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT, SO WE'LL MOVE ON WITH THAT.

SO I THOUGHT I'D START BY TALKING JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHO WE SERVE CURRENTLY.

YOU KNOW, WE SERVE ALL 49 OF THE CAMPUSES, THE INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS ON THOSE CAMPUSES.

AS OF YESTERDAY, I GUESS WE HAD 35,858 STUDENTS.

SO THAT NUMBER'S GONE UP SINCE I LAST REPORTED IT IN THIS PRESENTATION.

AND THEN OVER 4700 EMPLOYEES AND INCLUDING THOSE FAMILIES OF THOSE STUDENTS.

SO WE REALLY EMBRACED THAT MOTTO HERE IN MANSFIELD THAT IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN AND TEACH.

AND WE DO THAT BY PROVIDING THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE AND SUPPORT TO ALL OF THESE GROUPS.

SO AS A DEPARTMENT, I WANT TO I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE SAY THAT WE EXIST SO THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN LEARN AND LEARN AT HIGH LEVELS.

AND SO EVERYTHING WE DO FOR OUR FAMILIES, OUR COMMUNITY, OUR STUDENTS EVERY DAY IS IS REALLY IN SERVICE OF THAT EFFORT, IS TO HELP THEM TO HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE AND LEARN. SO I LOVE THIS QUOTE, AND I THOUGHT I'D START BY TALKING A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS WE'RE DOING TO KEEP MANSFIELD SAFE AND OUR STUDENTS AND OUR COMMUNITY SAFE.

AND SO DR. CANTU HAD THIS QUOTE OF BY WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN CONTINUE MAKING MANSFIELD ISD A SAFE PLACE FOR EVERYONE.

AND IT REALLY TAKES A VILLAGE.

AND SO WE'RE DOING SOME REALLY INNOVATIVE THINGS IN THIS DISTRICT TO SUPPORT THAT EFFORT OF OUR COMMUNITY, OUR FAMILIES, OUR STUDENTS, OUR TEACHERS, OUR STAFF, ALL HAVING THE ABILITY TO REPORT AND PROVIDE INFORMATION TO US AS THE NEEDS ARISE.

SO I'M ALSO PART OF A STUDENT STUDENT SERVICES COHORT, AND WE MEET TOGETHER AS A TEAM WITH A BUNCH OF COMPETING DISTRICTS.

AND I CAN TELL YOU WHEN I GO TO THOSE MEETINGS THAT YOUR VISION AND THE THINGS THAT YOU'VE PUT IN PLACE IN THESE AREAS AND IN MANY OTHER AREAS STAND OUT AMONGST MOST OF OUR COMPETING DISTRICTS, THEY'RE NOT THEY'RE NOT AS INNOVATIVE AND NOT AS FOREFRONT WITH THESE THINGS THAT ARE HELPING US TO TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE SCHOOLS AND KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN OUR COMMUNITY SO THAT WE CAN HELP SUPPORT AS NEEDED.

SO IT'S A HUGE PIECE, BUT I THOUGHT I'D START BY SHARING A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS IS OUR HOUSE AND THE WAY I'D LIKE TO START TO DO THAT IS BY SHOWING YOU THIS VIDEO. SO.

SO I WANTED TO SHOW YOU THAT BECAUSE I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO THAT'S REALLY INNOVATIVE IS WE PROVIDE THAT ONE STOP SHOP FOR PARENTS AND FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND FOR OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF TO BE ABLE TO GO AND REPORT THINGS THAT ARE OCCURRING, WHETHER IT BE LIKE THE VIDEO SAID, A BULLYING ALLEGATION, A

[00:45:07]

CRIME, AN INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT THAT MAY HAVE CIRCULATED OR EVEN A THREAT.

AND SO WE KNOW THOSE THINGS ARE GOING ON, BUT WE DON'T ALWAYS OTHER OTHER PLACES DON'T ALWAYS HAVE THE ACCESS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION.

SO BY USING THIS TOOL AND BY MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE TO OUR STUDENTS AND BY MAKING IT ACCESSIBLE TO OUR FAMILIES, WE'RE ABLE TO CAPTURE THESE THINGS SO THAT WE CAN OUR CAMPUSES AND OUR ADMINISTRATIVE TEAMS AND OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT CAN WORK THROUGH AND INVESTIGATE AND RULE OUT OR DECIDE WHAT THE NEXT STEPS ARE WHEN THINGS OCCUR.

SO STUDENTS, LIKE I SAID, HAVE ACCESS TO THIS TOOL ON THEIR CHROMEBOOK.

IT'S READILY AVAILABLE AND WE'RE SEEING SOME EFFORTS OF STUDENTS ACTUALLY USING THAT.

AND SO THAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR OUR DISTRICT.

I ALSO WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT ALL OF THE THINGS THAT YOU SAW ON THAT VIDEO, WE HAVE BOARD POLICY AROUND.

AND SO WE AS A STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT PLAY A DIRECT ROLE IN HELPING TO ADVISE AND INTERPRET THAT THOSE POLICIES AS THEY COME OUT FROM THE STATE AND GIVE THAT TO YOU SO YOU CAN MAKE DECISIONS IN HOW YOU'RE GOING TO MOVE FORWARD.

SINCE I MENTIONED BOARD POLICY, I THINK IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO SHARE THAT JUST IN SECTION F ALONE, THERE ARE 65 POLICIES RELATED TO STUDENTS.

AND SO THE STUDENT DEPARTMENT, THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT WORKS PRETTY TIRELESSLY WITH THOSE POLICIES TO ENSURE THAT, YOU KNOW, WE'RE MEETING THE NEEDS AND SUPPORTING THE VISION OF THE DISTRICT IN HOW YOU GUYS HAVE DECIDED TO USE THOSE.

AND THEN, OF COURSE, THERE'S TONS OF OTHER POLICIES THAT WE HELP WITH AS WELL.

SO LET'S TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT STUDENT TRANSFERS.

WE TALK ABOUT SCHOOLS OF CHOICE AND PARENTS WANTING TO GO TO DIFFERENT PLACES AND GET DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES.

AND SO I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THIS YEAR, THIS PAST YEAR, WE HAD 1176 TRANSFER REQUESTS COME INTO THE DISTRICT.

OUR DEPARTMENT WORKS THROUGH EACH ONE OF THOSE AND MAKES DECISIONS ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE THE SPACE AVAILABLE OR THE MEANS TO PROVIDE AN APPROVAL FOR THAT TRANSFER.

THIS YEAR ALONE, WE WERE ABLE TO APPROVE 940 OF THOSE TRANSFERS, AND THAT NUMBER IS GOING UP BECAUSE EVEN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE'LL STILL HAVE TRANSFER REQUESTS FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS. PARENTS MOVE, THINGS HAPPEN AND WE NEED TO SHIFT SOME THINGS AROUND.

AND SO WE'RE STILL WORKING THROUGH THOSE, BUT THAT'S OUR CURRENT NUMBER.

LIKE I SAID, WE WORK THROUGH THOSE FROM THE SPRING TO THE SUMMER.

AND SO I THOUGHT TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE, I'D GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE HERE OF A PROCESS WE USE AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL. SO WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT IS A SCREENSHOT OF A SPREADSHEET THAT WE USE.

THIS IS FROM AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

AND SO IF WE'RE LOOKING AT KINDERGARTEN, WHAT'S REPRESENTED THERE IS THAT THERE'S CURRENTLY 101 STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED IN THAT KINDERGARTEN AT THAT CAMPUS.

WE HAVE ALLOCATED FIVE FTES, WHICH IS A FANCY WORD FOR TEACHERS.

SO WE HAVE FIVE TEACHERS THAT ARE TEACHING KINDERGARTEN AT THAT TIME.

AND SO THERE ARE 110 SEATS AVAILABLE AT THAT CAMPUS THAT RELATED TO THE 22 TO 1 RATIO.

AND SO IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR US TO KNOW THAT AS WE MAKE DECISIONS BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO PUT A SCHOOL IN A SITUATION WHERE WE GO OVER NUMBERS, WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL STAFF IF IT'S NOT NEEDED.

SO WE CAPTURE THAT INFORMATION.

FROM THERE, WE CAN ASCERTAIN THAT THERE ARE NINE AVAILABLE OPEN SEATS.

WE DO RESERVE SOME SEATS DEPENDING ON THE GROWTH OF A CAMPUS, WHAT THE MOBILITY RATE IS, WHAT THE MOVE IN RATE IS WITH NEW HOMES.

THERE'S A RANGE OF OPEN SEATS AVAILABLE.

AND SO IN THIS EXAMPLE FOR THIS CAMPUS, THERE ARE SIX SEATS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE NEW RESIDENTS THAT COME IN AT THE LAST MINUTE THAT MOVE INTO HOUSING AND NEED A SEAT AT THAT CAMPUS WITHOUT PUTTING THEM OVER.

AND THEN WE ALSO THE REMAINDER OF THOSE SEATS ARE OPEN FOR TRANSFERS.

SO IN THAT KINDERGARTEN, YOU CAN SEE THAT WE HAVE NO TRANSFERS OUT.

SO NO KIDS ARE LEAVING THAT CAMPUS.

BUT WE DID HAVE THREE REQUESTS TO COME IN.

AND SO WE WERE ABLE TO GIVE ALL THOSE PARENTS WHAT THEY WANTED AND GET THEM INTO THAT KINDERGARTEN.

SO THAT LEAVES A NET OF THREE TRANSFERS IN.

AND SO THERE ARE NO SEATS AVAILABLE.

AS YOU GO DOWN YOU CAN SEE OTHER EXAMPLES IN FIRST GRADE AND SECOND GRADE AND SECOND GRADE, WE HAVE AN EXTRA TEACHER.

SO WE HAD A FEW MORE SEATS.

BUT IN THAT SECOND GRADE EXAMPLE, WE HAD NO TRANSFERS OUT AND WE HAD NO TRANSFERS IN.

SO WE CURRENTLY STILL SIT WITH THOSE FOUR SEATS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE TRANSFERS.

AND SO WE DO THIS FOR EVERY CAMPUS.

IT GETS A LITTLE BIT MORE COMPLICATED AS YOU MOVE UP THE INTERMEDIATE MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL, BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT NECESSARILY JUST A HOMEROOM TEACHER THAT HAS ALL THE KIDS IN A 22 SETTING.

YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE TYPES OF TEACHERS THAT ARE ON THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES.

YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE NUMBER OF CTE TEACHERS OR THE NUMBER OF ENGLISH TEACHERS, HOW MANY SEATS ARE AVAILABLE.

BUT WE USE THE SAME IDEA OF.

YOU KNOW HOW MANY ARE COMING IN AND HOW MANY ARE LEAVING TO TRY TO BEST MAKE THAT WORK WITHIN THE MEANS OF HOW WE TRANSFER PARENTS AND HOW WE TRANSFER THE STUDENTS.

SO THAT'S JUST ONE EXAMPLE, ONE SMALL EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE DO.

[00:50:05]

OKAY. SO NEXT, I WANT TO TALK TO YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ANTI BULLYING.

AND SO WE KNOW THAT THERE'S BOARD POLICY AND WE'VE DONE SOME REALLY CONCERTED EFFORTS TO LOOK AT ANTI BULLYING AND TO ADDRESS IT ON OUR CAMPUSES.

IT'S A SYSTEM THAT WE ACTIVELY MONITOR AND SUPPORT IN STUDENT SERVICES.

AND SO WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IS WE PROVIDE A WIDE RANGE OF EXTENSIVE TRAINING TO OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS, TO OUR EDUCATORS IN THE CLASSROOM, TO OUR STUDENTS AND TO OUR COMMUNITY ABOUT WHAT BULLYING IS, WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FOR OUR ADMINISTRATORS, HOW TO IDENTIFY IT.

AND WE HAVE A VERY STRATEGIC PROCESS FOR ONCE THAT INVESTIGATION OCCURS.

ONCE THE ALLEGATION IS PUT INTO THE SYSTEM, WHETHER IT BE THE STUDENT PUTS IT IN, THE PARENT PUTS IT IN, OR EVEN OUR STAFF MEMBERS PUT IT IN IF THEY'RE AWARE OF HOW THEY WORK THROUGH THAT INVESTIGATION.

ONCE THEY'VE MADE A DETERMINATION ON WHETHER OR NOT IT IS IDENTIFIED AS AN ACTUAL CYBERBULLYING OR BULLYING INCIDENT, THEN THEY GO THROUGH THOSE NEXT STEPS OF DISCIPLINE, LOOKING AT SUPPORTS FOR PARENTS AND SUPPORTS FOR STUDENTS.

WE HAVE COUNSELING AVAILABLE, LOTS OF RESOURCES.

AND SO OUR WHOLE DEPARTMENT KIND OF WORKS TOGETHER WITH OUR COUNSELING DEPARTMENT, OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING DEPARTMENT, OUR CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS TO SUPPORT THAT.

THE TOOL IS VERY, VERY HELPFUL.

AS YOU CAN SEE, WE HAD 695 LAST YEAR COMPLETED INVESTIGATIONS.

THAT MEANS THAT THOSE WERE REPORTS PUT IN.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT WHEN NUMBERS GO DOWN IS ARE WE SEEING THAT PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY REPORTING? IT'S ONE OF THE THINGS WE THINK ABOUT.

WE WANT THE REPORTS TO GO DOWN AND WE WANT THE DISCIPLINE, WE WANT THE ALLEGATIONS TO DECREASE, BUT WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE BEING REALLY CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT DO WE HAVE THE RIGHT STEPS IN PLACE SO THAT PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO REPORT IT WHEN IT'S HAPPENING AND HOW ARE WE RESPONDING TO THOSE? SO OF THOSE 695 INVESTIGATIONS, WE HAD 64 CONFIRMED LAST YEAR THAT WERE BULLYING.

AND SO THE REST OF THOSE RANGE FROM NOT AT ALL BULLYING TO IT MIGHT BE A CODE OF CONDUCT VIOLATION.

IT MIGHT BE A ONE TIME EVENT THAT WASN'T DIDN'T QUITE MEET THE DEFINITION, BUT STILL NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED, OR IT COULD JUST BE RULED OUT COMPLETELY AS NOT A BULLYING INVESTIGATION.

SO BUT THE STEPS WE'RE TAKING IN THAT AND THE WORK THAT WE'RE DOING AROUND THAT I THINK IS HAVING A REALLY POSITIVE EFFECT ON NOT ONLY THAT, WE'RE NOT SEEING A LARGE NUMBER OF ACTUAL BULLYING COMPLETIONS THAT ARE ACTUALLY THAT, I GUESS, INCIDENTS OF BULLYING. BUT WE'RE ACTUALLY ALSO DOING A LOT OF WORK AROUND THE INSTRUCTION AND HELPING KIDS FEEL A SENSE OF BELONGING AND WORKING ON THEIR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL PIECES OF HOW DO WE GET ALONG AND HOW DO WE RESOLVE CONFLICTS.

SO IT DOESN'T GET TO THAT LEVEL OF OF CONCERN.

OKAY. SO NEXT, I WANT TO TALK TO YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR SCORECARD.

WE HAVE THREE AREAS ON THE SCORECARD THAT WE MONITOR AND REPORT TO YOU GUYS.

AND THE FIRST ONE TALKS ABOUT EXTRA AND CO-CURRICULAR PARTICIPATION.

YOU SAW JENNIFER, MISS YOUNG'S PRESENTATION, AND SHE REALLY HIGHLIGHTED ALL THE GREAT THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON IN THIS DISTRICT AND ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT WE HAVE WHEN WE TALK ABOUT EXTRACURRICULAR.

WE'RE TALKING NOT ONLY ABOUT THE FINE ARTS AND THE ATHLETICS AND THE SCHOOL CLUBS, BUT WE'RE ALSO TALKING ABOUT THE THINGS THAT KIDS ARE DOING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL, THOSE CO-CURRICULAR THINGS THAT, YOU KNOW, MAYBE THEY'RE A GYMNAST OR MAYBE THEY'RE, YOU KNOW, INVOLVED IN MENTORING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL OR THEY'RE RUNNING A CLUB OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL.

SO WE ALSO TRY TO CAPTURE THAT INFORMATION.

ONE THING THAT I'LL SHOW YOU IN THIS DATA IS THAT EVEN WITH ALL THE GREAT THINGS WE HAVE, WE'RE CURRENTLY WE SEE IN OUR HIGH SCHOOL AREA, WE SEE A LITTLE BIT OF A DECLINE IN THAT INFORMATION.

NOW, WE SAW SOME ESCALATION OR SOME IMPROVEMENT IN ELEMENTARY AND INTERMEDIATE.

BUT WHEN WE ROOT CAUSE THIS AND WE LOOKED AT WHY IS THIS DATA LOOK LIKE THIS WHEN WE HAVE SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES, WHAT WE REALIZED IS THAT THE WAY WE'RE COLLECTING THE INFORMATION IS PLAYING A ROLE, A FACTOR INTO WHY THIS INFORMATION LOOKS THAT WAY.

SO WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS WE PRIOR TO COVID, WE COLLECTED THAT INFORMATION THROUGH A SURVEY, AND STUDENT SERVICES WAS DIRECTLY OVER THAT SURVEY.

AND WE HAD SOME REALLY CONCERTED EFFORTS IN HOW WE CAPTURED THAT INFORMATION AND HELD KIDS TO HELPING THEM GET THAT INFORMATION IN.

THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE EMBEDDED THIS DATA COLLECTION INSIDE OF A LESSON THAT WE DO AS PART OF OUR SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING PLATFORM. AND WE DO IT DURING ADVISORIES AND SOME OTHER TIMES.

AND WHAT WE'VE SEEN IS WE HAVE TO BE MORE STRATEGIC AND WE HAVE TO GET BACK IN TRYING TO BUILD A BETTER PLAN FOR HOW WE'RE GOING TO CAPTURE THAT.

IN THIS LAST SET OF DATA, ONLY 33% OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ACTUALLY COMPLETED THE SURVEY PORTION OF THAT LESSON.

SO WE MISSED THE MARK ON THAT A LITTLE BIT.

AND ACROSS THE DISTRICT, ONLY 60% OF THE KIDS ACTUALLY COMPLETED IT.

[00:55:04]

SO. WE'VE ALREADY BEEN STRATEGIZING AND PLANNING ON HOW WE'RE GOING TO GET THAT DATA.

AND I THINK BEING A LITTLE BIT MORE STRATEGIC, WE'LL BE ABLE TO BRING YOU A BETTER REFLECTION OF THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS THAT ARE ACTUALLY PARTICIPATING.

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE NOW, BUT I DO THINK IT'S A LOT HIGHER.

AND I THINK IF WE GET A BETTER REPRESENTATION, WE'RE GOING TO SEE A MUCH HIGHER LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION IN THAT.

SO. OKAY.

OUR SECOND AREA IS 3.2.

AND THIS EQUATES TO THE SATISFACTION THAT THE STUDENTS REPORT IN THEIR STUDENT SURVEY OF THE OVERALL QUALITY OF THEIR SCHOOL EXPERIENCE.

AND SO IN THIS DATA, WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE IS THAT PRIOR TO COVID, WE WERE AT ABOUT 70%.

WE TOOK A LITTLE BIT OF A DECLINE THERE IN 2021 WHEN WE WERE ACTUALLY IN THE MIDST OF COVID.

AND THEN WE HAD A SIGNIFICANT EVENT IN 21, 22 THAT KIDS REPORTED ON THEIR SAFETY AND NOT FEELING AS SAFE.

AND THEN THIS YEAR, WE MADE SOME GROWTH BACK UP TO 60%.

WE'RE STILL NOT WHERE WE WANT TO BE, BUT WE AGAIN, HAVE SOME SOME GREAT THINGS IN PLACE.

I THINK WE'RE SEEING ATTENDANCE COME UP.

WE'RE SEEING INVOLVEMENT COME UP.

I THINK WHEN KIDS ARE INVOLVED AND THEY'RE ENGAGED IN SCHOOL AND THEY'RE NOT JUST COMING JUST FOR THE ACADEMICS, THEY'RE COMING FOR THOSE OTHER PLATFORMS, I THINK WE'RE GOING TO SEE THEIR SATISFACTION COME UP QUITE SIGNIFICANTLY.

I THINK IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO REPORT IN THIS AND I WAS A FORMER PRINCIPAL, RIGHT? SO WE'LL TALK ABOUT APPROACHES MEETS AND MASTERS THAT WHEN WE GIVE THIS SURVEY, THERE ARE FIVE INDICATORS THAT WE LOOK AT.

SO ARE FIVE CHOICES THAT THE KIDS HAVE.

SO THE FIRST ONE IS EXTREMELY SATISFIED.

THE SECOND IS QUITE SATISFIED, THE THIRD IS SATISFIED, THE FOURTH IS SLIGHTLY SATISFIED.

AND THEN THERE'S I'M NOT SATISFIED AT ALL.

SO WHEN WE LOOK AT THAT DATA AS A WHOLE IN MANSFIELD, WE LOOK AT MEETS STANDARD, RIGHT? SO WE LOOK AT SATISFIED OR ABOVE.

AND SO THAT'S WHAT YOU SEE ON THE SCREEN IS 60% OF THE STUDENTS WERE SATISFIED OR ABOVE, BUT ANOTHER 30% OF THE STUDENTS WERE SLIGHTLY SATISFIED.

AND SO WE'RE APPROACHING THAT SATISFACTION.

SO ACTUALLY, ONLY 10% OF OUR STUDENT POPULATION WAS NOT SATISFIED AT ALL.

SO I THINK THAT'S JUST IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW.

AS YOU KNOW, NOT EVERY KID IS GOING TO BE COMPLETELY SATISFIED, BUT WE DO HAVE A PORTION THEY'RE GETTING THERE.

SO WE'RE WE'RE GOING TO SEE THAT DATA COME UP.

I FEEL REALLY CONFIDENT ABOUT THAT.

OKAY. OUR THIRD INDICATOR IS LOOKING AT THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS OUT OF PLACEMENT.

WHEN WE TALK ABOUT OUT OF PLACEMENT, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT STUDENTS WHO HAVE MADE A CHOICE, A BEHAVIORAL CHOICE, AND IT'S CAUSED THEM TO EITHER RECEIVE AN IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL SUSPENSION OR AN ASSIGNMENT AT OUR DISCIPLINARY ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM OR THE JUVENILE JUSTICE ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM.

SO WHETHER IT'S ONE OR MANY, YOU KNOW, WE'RE TRYING TO TRACK THAT DATA.

WE KNOW THE IMPACT THAT A STUDENT BEING OUT OF PLACEMENT HAS ON THEIR INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING AND ON THEIR ABILITY TO LEARN AT A HIGH LEVEL.

SO WE MONITOR THIS VERY CAREFULLY AND WORK WITH OUR ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM TO NOT ONLY ENSURE THAT WE'RE APPROPRIATELY PROVIDING THE RIGHT DISCIPLINE, BUT WE'RE ALSO PROVIDING ALTERNATIVES AND THE RIGHT EDUCATION TO STUDENTS TO CHANGE THAT BEHAVIOR.

SO IN THIS PARTICULAR DATA, I'LL SHOW YOU THAT IT'S REFLECTIVE OF OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS.

SO IN 2020, 2021, THAT WAS OUR COVID YEAR.

AND SO OUR KIDS WERE GRADUALLY COMING BACK TO SCHOOL.

AND SO WE HAD SOME VERY LOW DATA IN TERMS OF THOSE OUT OF PLACEMENTS.

OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, WE'VE MADE SOME VERY PROACTIVE AND CONCERTED EFFORTS TO REALLY MONITOR AND HOLD KIDS ACCOUNTABLE AND PROVIDE THAT THAT EDUCATION AND THAT DISCIPLINE THAT'S NECESSARY IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT OUR CAMPUSES ARE SAFE.

ALL KIDS CAN LEARN AT HIGH LEVELS AND HAVE THE ACCESS.

SO YOU WILL SEE IT STARTING TO TREND UP IN OUR ISS.

WE SEE SOME TRENDING UP IN OUR OFF CAMPUS AND THEN IN OUR DAEP AS WELL.

BUT THESE PERCENTAGES ARE VERY SLIGHT IN TERMS OF THAT.

AND SO WE FEEL GOOD ABOUT WHERE WE'RE MOVING AND EVEN WHERE WE'RE AT.

AND AGAIN, AS WE BALANCE THAT THAT PROCESS OF EDUCATION AND DISCIPLINE, IT'S JUST IMPORTANT FOR US TO MONITOR IT AND KEEP AN EYE ON IT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T SEE SOMETHING COMPLETELY OUT, A COMPLETE OUTLIER START TO FLY OFF, THEN WE WOULD NEED TO RESPOND TO IT.

SO IN LOOKING AT THAT, IN TERMS OF ANOTHER WAY THAT WE MEASURE THAT IS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS OR THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS THAT HAD AN OUT OF PLACEMENT AT ALL.

SO THIS COULD BE ONE OR MANY.

BUT AGAIN, YOU'LL SEE THAT LOW PERCENTAGE IN THAT COVID YEAR WHEN WE WERE SLOWLY COMING BACK AND THEN IN 2021, WE ROSE TO ABOUT 10.5%.

AND LAST YEAR, EVEN WITH OUR PROACTIVE APPROACH IN OUR SYSTEMS THAT WE PUT IN PLACE WHERE YOU MIGHT EXPECT TO SEE MAYBE A LITTLE BIT MORE OF THOSE OUT OF PLACEMENTS COME BECAUSE WE

[01:00:01]

STARTED TO HOLD TIGHT SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WERE REALLY IMPORTANT TO THIS DISTRICT IN TERMS OF SAFETY.

WE STILL ONLY SAW A VERY MINOR SIGNIFICANT UP.

SO IN THAT SO STILL FEEL REALLY GOOD ABOUT THAT AS WELL.

AND WE'RE MONITORING THAT VERY CLOSELY RIGHT NOW.

AFTER THE FIRST SIX WEEKS, WE'RE AT JUST AROUND 2%.

SO WE'RE STILL VERY LOW, EVEN THOUGH WE'RE WORKING VERY HARD ON THOSE STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS THAT WE'VE PUT IN PLACE.

SO SOME OF THE THINGS THAT ARE HELPING US WITH THOSE NUMBERS, KEEPING THOSE NUMBERS DOWN, KEEPING THOSE PERCENTAGES DOWN ARE JUST THE VARIETY OF SUPPORT PROGRAMS WE HAVE.

AND THOSE PROGRAMS REALLY HELP KIDS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, AND THEY ALSO HELP THEM CREATE A SENSE OF BELONGING.

SO, YOU KNOW, CAMPUS BASED COMMUNITY SERVICE IS A GREAT OUTLET FOR OUR KIDS.

AND NOT EVERY KID NEEDS AN OUT OF PLACEMENT.

SOMETIMES KIDS JUST NEED AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AND SEE THE BENEFIT OF THAT SERVICE.

AND SO WE HAVE A VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR KIDS TO DO SOME COMMUNITY BASED SERVICE IF THEY CHOOSE IT AS AN ALTERNATIVE.

WE ALSO YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT OUR MENTORING PROGRAMS FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND FOR OUR VIPS, BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS THAT ARE HELPING TO MENTOR OTHER STUDENTS, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WORKING WITH ELEMENTARY STUDENTS AND WITH JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS.

AND THOSE RELATIONSHIPS, YOU KNOW, A STAR QUARTERBACK OR THE FIRST CHAIR, FRENCH HORN PLAYER IN THE BAND SINCE THAT'S WHAT I WAS.

GOING DOWN TO THOSE FINE ARTS ACADEMIES AND WORKING WITH STUDENTS THAT MAYBE LOVE THOSE PROGRAMS BUT STRUGGLE WITH THEIR BEHAVIOR.

IT'S HAVING A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT, A POSITIVE IMPACT ON KIDS.

ALSO THE DIFFERENT THINGS THAT OUR CAMPUSES ARE DOING IN THEIR ADVISORIES, WORKING ON RELATIONSHIPS AND HOW TO DEAL WITH CONFLICT AND HOW TO RESOLVE CONFLICT BEFORE IT LEADS TO A MAJOR INFRACTION IS ANOTHER GREAT THING THAT WE'RE DOING.

AND THEN THE WORK THAT THE CAMPUSES HAVE BEEN DOING AND HOW TO RESTORE THOSE RELATIONSHIPS WHEN THEY'RE BROKEN OR BUILD THOSE TREATMENT AGREEMENTS OR SOCIAL CONTRACTS OF HOW WE WANT TO TREAT EACH OTHER AND HOW WE WANT TO BEHAVE.

ALL OF THESE THINGS HELP US TO KEEP THOSE PERCENTAGES DOWN AND IDEALLY WE'D WANT ZERO ON ALL THOSE NUMBERS.

BUT WE KNOW THAT IF WE GO TOO FAR TO THE LEFT AND WE AREN'T DOING ANY KIND OF DISCIPLINE, THEN WE'RE NOT IN THE RIGHT PLACE.

AND ON THE OTHER END, IF WE'RE DOING ALL DISCIPLINE, THEN WE'RE NOT CHANGING AND SHAPING BEHAVIOR EITHER.

SO WE HAVE TO KEEP KIND OF A HEALTHY BALANCE OF IT.

AND SO THESE PROGRAMS ARE HELPING US TO PROVIDE THAT SUPPORT WHEN IT'S NEEDED.

OKAY. I ALSO WANT TO TALK TO YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ATTENDANCE.

WE HEARD THE ATTENDANCE RATES ARE UP AND I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE ATTENDANCE RATES WE'RE HAVING.

BUT WE DO HAVE SOME TRUANCY THINGS THAT COME UP EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WITH SOME OF OUR STUDENTS.

AND SO RATHER THAN BE REACTIVE TO THIS, AT THE END OF THE YEAR AS A STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT LAST YEAR, THEY BEGAN TO LOOK AT THIS IN A PROACTIVE WAY.

SO WHEN A STUDENT IS EXPERIENCING A HIGH RATES OF ABSENCE IN THEIR UNEXCUSED, WE NOW HAVE A PROCESS THAT WE GO THROUGH OF WORKING WITH THAT PARENT AS EARLY AS THREE UNEXCUSED ABSENCES IN DEVELOPING SOME PLANS AND INVESTIGATING SUPPORTS THAT MAY BE NEEDED TO HELP THEM CORRECT THAT BEHAVIOR SO THAT WE CAN WE CAN GET THEM BACK ON TRACK IN THE EVENT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO GET BACK ON TRACK OR THEY'RE NOT UTILIZING SUPPORTS.

WHEN WE GET TO THAT TEN UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, WE DO A IN HOUSE TRUANCY TRIBUNAL, WHICH BASICALLY IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MYSELF AND OUR TRUANCY OFFICER AND OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH MIKE [INAUDIBLE] OFFICE, ONE OF OUR ATTORNEYS, AND WE SIT DOWN WITH THE PARENTS AND WE AGAIN PROVIDE AND WE TRY TO LEARN ABOUT WHY THEY'RE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR ATTENDANCE AND OFFER SOME SUPPORTS AND GUIDANCE ON HOW THEY CAN CORRECT THAT THROUGH A CONTRACT OR THROUGH A PLAN.

BUT THEN WE ALSO REALLY LET THEM KNOW THAT LIKE THIS IS A CHRONIC ABSENTEE PROBLEM.

AND IF WE CAN'T GET IT RESOLVED, THEN WE DO HAVE TO REPORT THAT TO TRUANCY AND GO THROUGH THAT PROCESS.

SO WE SAW LAST YEAR, JUST IN THE LAST TWO, SIX WEEKS, WE HELD 62 TRIBUNALS AND THEY HAD SOME REALLY POSITIVE RESULTS FROM THOSE TRIBUNALS IN TERMS OF GETTING THOSE PARENTS AND THOSE STUDENTS BACK ON TRACK.

AND SO WE'RE EXCITED.

WE HAVE 15 TRIBUNALS SCHEDULED THIS YEAR, ONE COMING UP NEXT WEEK.

AND SO WE'RE EXCITED TO WORK WITH THE PARENTS AND THE STUDENTS THAT ARE STRUGGLING WITH THIS AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT LIKE, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO HELP SUPPORT YOU AND THEN MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE HAVING THOSE INTENTIONAL CONVERSATIONS SO WE CAN IMPACT THAT AND KEEP THAT ATTENDANCE RATE HIGH AND KEEP IT MOVING FORWARD.

OKAY. I'M GOING TO WRAP UP HERE AT THE END WITH SOME REALLY GOOD STUFF.

SO I'M REALLY EXCITED.

I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY, OF COURSE, TO TO BE A PART OF GRADUATION AS A PRINCIPAL AND THEN SUPPORT TWO.

BUT LAST SPRING, YOU KNOW, WE GRADUATED 2764 STUDENTS FROM MANSFIELD ISD.

I THINK THAT'S A RECORD FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD, BUT I COULDN'T CONFIRM IT YET.

SO BUT WE DID WE DID HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY.

AND THEN THE SUMMER YOU GOT TO BE A PART OF SEEING 21 STUDENTS WALK THE STAGE.

THAT TOOK A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME TO GET THERE.

[01:05:02]

ONE OF THE THINGS I'M MOST EXCITED ABOUT IS THE OPTIONAL FLEXIBLE SCHOOL DAY THAT MR. BENAVIDEZ BROUGHT TO THE GROUP AND THEN REALLY WORKED WITH MIGUEL GARZA OVER AT THE PHOENIX ACADEMY.

AND THESE SEVEN STUDENTS HAD WALKED AWAY FROM THEIR EDUCATION AND REALLY HAD DECIDED THEY WEREN'T GOING TO GRADUATE.

AND SO THROUGH YOUR SUPPORT AND YOUR GUIDANCE AND THROUGH YOUR PERMISSION, WE WERE ABLE TO BRING THESE KIDS BACK AND GET THEM THEIR DIPLOMAS. AND TO TO SEE THESE SEVEN KIDS COME BACK.

THEY WEREN'T KIDS ANYMORE.

THEY WERE MORE LIKE ADULTS.

BUT TO SEE THESE ADULTS COME BACK AND DO THAT, I THINK THAT REALLY SPEAKS TO TO WHAT WE DO HERE.

AND THE POWER THAT THAT WE HAVE IN EDUCATION, THE POWER TWO EDUCATION HAS FOR THEM.

THEY DIDN'T SEE IT. THEY WANTED TO COME BACK.

THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN OUTLET TO COME BACK.

YOU HELPED US PROVIDE THAT OPPORTUNITY.

AND SO IT'S JUST A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE KIDS.

AND IT WAS A GREAT TIME FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO SEE THAT, TOO.

SO I'M REALLY PROUD OF THAT WORK.

OKAY. SO I'M GOING TO LEAVE YOU WITH THIS.

YOU KNOW, WE EXIST SO THAT ALL KIDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AT HIGH LEVELS.

I JUST WANT TO END TONIGHT BY SAYING THAT THIS IS WHY WE DO IT.

EVERYTHING WE DO, WE'RE TRYING TO HELP KIDS STAY IN SCHOOL.

WE'RE TRYING TO HELP KIDS FEEL SAFE.

WE'RE TRYING TO HELP THEM FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG AND ULTIMATELY HAVE THEM HELP TO ACHIEVE THAT, LEARNING THAT THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO WALK THE STAGE IN THEIR FOUR YEAR TIME IN MANSFIELD ISD. SO HAPPY TO BE HERE.

APPRECIATE THE TIME AND I'M OPEN TO ANY QUESTIONS.

HELLO. IN CASE YOU WANTED TO SAY YOU HAD ME AT HELLO.

[LAUGHTER] I WAS GOING TO SAY YOU'RE OPEN TO HUH.

YEAH. OKAY.

WE'LL START ON MY RIGHT.

DID ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING? OH, OKAY. MISS ANDERSON, I REALLY DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

I JUST WANTED TO SAY I APPRECIATED BECAUSE I DON'T THINK WE'VE EVER ACTUALLY SEEN THE SPREADSHEETS AND THINGS THAT YOU HAVE TO WHAT I WOULD CALL JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT KIDS AND THE RIGHT SCHOOL AT THE RIGHT CAPACITY.

THERE'S BEEN SEVERAL TIMES WHEN WE'VE HAD TO, YOU KNOW, MAKE SURE THAT, YOU KNOW, WE'RE MANEUVERING THE CORRECT WAY FOR THESE TEACHERS.

AND SO I JUST REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

AS YOU STATED, AS YOU GET HIGHER UP, YOU'VE REALLY GOT TO START WATCHING THAT.

AND THEN WE HAVE ANOTHER INTERN, WHICH IS BEN BARBER.

AND THEN, YOU KNOW, SO AND I REALLY LOVE THE FACT THAT ESSENTIALLY WE'RE TRYING TO KEEP THESE KIDS IN SCHOOL BECAUSE THAT'S THE GOAL FOR THEIR LIFE AND REALLY LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY THAT MR. BENAVIDEZ BROUGHT.

I MEAN, SEVEN KIDS TODAY, I MEAN, IT COULD HAVE BEEN SEVEN KIDS OUT THERE THAT JUST WERE, YOU KNOW, MOVING ON WITH THEIR LIFE WITHOUT HAVING THAT.

SO GREATLY APPRECIATE THAT.

SO GREAT PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU. MR. TIPPING, DID YOU HAVE YOUR HAND UP? NO, I JUST WANT TO SAY I APPRECIATE THE EFFORTS THAT ARE PUT INTO THAT BALANCE, LIKE YOU TALKED ABOUT, BETWEEN, YOU KNOW, THE EDUCATION BEING IN THE CLASSROOM AND WHAT'S NEEDED AND THE DISCIPLINE ASPECT.

BECAUSE I THINK IT'S SO IMPORTANT THAT WE HAVE A GOOD BALANCE OF THAT.

THAT'S WHERE THE BEST LEARNING HAPPENS.

AND SO FINDING THOSE STRATEGIC WAYS AND REALIZING THAT EVERY SITUATION IS DIFFERENT AND TRYING TO FIND THE FIX FOR THAT SPECIFIC SITUATION.

I APPRECIATE THE APPROACH THAT WE TAKE WITH THAT.

SO THANK YOU. YEAH.

MS. THOMAS.

JUST TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEPARTMENT.

YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF STUFF GOING ON IN THERE.

YOU'VE GOT POLICY, YOU'VE GOT SAFETY, YOU'VE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING.

AND THOSE ARE BIG JOBS.

AND I APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU ALL DO.

AND IT MAKES MY HEART SMILE WITH THE OPTIONAL FLEXIBLE SCHOOL DAY.

THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I THINK WE'VE NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME.

SO THANK YOU, MR. BENAVIDEZ, FOR BRINGING THAT AND HELPING THOSE KIDS GET THAT DIPLOMA, BECAUSE THAT'S JUST GOING TO MAKE THEM EVEN MORE SUCCESSFUL LATER ON IN LIFE.

AND THAT'S OUR GOAL.

SO THANK YOU ALL AND ALL YOUR DEPARTMENT FOR ALL OF YOU DO.

I KNOW IT'S A BIG JOB AND IT'S TRYING SOMETIMES.

SO THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU ALL DO.

MS. FARRAR.

I'LL BE REALLY QUICK. I MEAN, I COULD ECHO EVERY SINGLE THING THAT THEY'VE SAID, BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT STOOD OUT TO ME JUST ABOUT THOSE SEVEN KIDS.

I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT WAS SO IMPACTFUL.

I MEAN, THAT'S WHAT WE DO.

WE DO THIS WORK EVEN IF IT'S TO, YOU KNOW, AFFECT THOSE SEVEN CHILDREN.

SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISION.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE WORK THAT YOU DO.

DR. REED, I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, BUT I DO WANT TO YES, ECHO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS SAID WITH THE CREATIVE SCHEDULING THAT YOU AND MR. BENAVIDEZ HAVE CREATED FOR OUR STUDENTS AT THE PHOENIX ACADEMY SO THAT THEY CAN COMPLETE THEIR STUDIES AND THEN GRADUATE.

THAT'S PHENOMENAL THINKING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX TO ENSURE OUR STUDENTS STILL COMPLETE THEIR STUDIES, HAVE AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE AND THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PHASE IN THEIR LIVES.

I DO APPRECIATE HOW THOROUGH YOU WERE IN PROVIDING US WITH THE DATA COUPLED WITH I WROTE THIS DOWN SO I WOULDN'T ASK A

[01:10:04]

QUESTION. OKAY.

COUPLED WITH THE SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES THAT WE OFFER HERE AT MISD TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE UPHOLDING THE STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS, THAT WAS AMAZING BECAUSE WE'RE ABLE TO SEE THE PROCESSES AND I THINK THAT'S IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS AND RESIDENTS.

FOR EXAMPLE, JUST ONE OF THE EXAMPLES BECAUSE I HAVE LIKE TWO PAGES OF THINGS JUST WRITTEN DOWN THAT WERE ALL GREAT, BUT ONE OF THE THINGS WAS IDENTIFYING THE TRANSFER, BECAUSE I THINK A LOT OF TIMES WE THINK WE HAVE ALL THESE STUDENTS COMING IN, WELL, WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN? WE'RE STILL CONSIDERING HOLDING UPHOLDING THE EXPECTATION THAT WE WILL NOT OVER WE WILL NOT EXCEED THE STUDENT TEACHER RATIO.

BUT THE PROCESS THAT YOU EXPLAIN THAT I THINK THAT'S PIVOTAL FOR PARENTS TO UNDERSTAND AND THOSE WHO ARE MOVING INTO OUR AREA, BECAUSE THIS IS AS DR.

CANTU, I'M GRATEFUL THAT YOU USED HER QUOTE THAT THIS IS A DESTINATION DISTRICT.

SO PEOPLE ARE MOVING HERE AND IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING, THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE STILL HAVE TO UPHOLD THE STANDARDS.

SO THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING THAT.

SO WE WILL KNOW THAT WE'RE MAINTAINING EXCELLENCE AS WE ARE SERVING OUR STUDENTS AS WELL AS SUPPORTING OUR TEACHERS.

THANK YOU. MS. NEWSOM. I MAY BE THE ONLY ONE WITH A QUESTION.

OKAY. NOT YET.

I'M GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE. I DO WANT TO THANK YOU, MR. WRIGHT AND DR.

BROWN. YOU GUYS HAVE A VERY INCREDIBLE, DAUNTING JOB.

AND THE WAY YOU BALANCE IT FOR ALL OF THE OTHER EVEN DIVISIONS WITHIN THE DISTRICT AND ALL THE CAMPUSES IS IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE AND AMAZING.

AND PLEASE NOTE THAT IT DOESN'T GO UNNOTICED ON US.

BUT THERE ARE THINGS LIKE THAT YOU SPOKE ABOUT TONIGHT, LIKE SAFETY AND SUCH THAT AND DISCIPLINE THAT THAT OBVIOUSLY WEIGH VERY HEAVY ON THESE INDIVIDUALS SITTING AT THIS TABLE.

AND SO MY QUESTION IS, IS WE DID TAKE SOME ACTION THIS YEAR THAT MADE SOME SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WITH SOME CERTAIN SMALL DEVICES THAT PEOPLE LIKE TO USE EVERY DAY THAT I CHOOSE NOT TO GO SAID. AND I REALLY WAS CONCERNED AND FELT LIKE THAT WAS GOING TO INCREASE DISCIPLINE OR DISCIPLINARY ISSUES AND HOPEFULLY IN A GOOD WAY.

WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT GOES FULL CIRCLE.

BUT I GUESS I'M JUST LOOKING FOR SOME COMMENTS ABOUT WHAT WE FEEL LIKE THAT THAT'S A BIG, BIG CHANGE FOR THE DISTRICT AND THE CAMPUSES THIS YEAR.

AND SO I'M JUST LOOKING TO SEE A LITTLE BIT OF COMMENTARY ABOUT HOW YOU AND YOUR TEAM FEEL THAT'S GOING AND HOW THAT'S KIND OF COME FULL CIRCLE.

MS. NEWSOM I'M GOING TO HAVE MATT ANSWER THAT.

BUT WHAT WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SEE OR WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR FROM HIM IS THAT IT HAS INCREASED DISCIPLINE, BUT IT HAS SO FAR HAD MINIMAL CHANGES TO THE IN-SCHOOL SUSPENSION, OUT-OF-SCHOOL SUSPENSION OR DAEP.

SO I'LL LET MATT TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IT.

BUT WE'VE WE'VE BEEN TRACKING THAT VERY CLOSELY.

YEAH, FOR SURE. AND SO WE'VE SEEN, LIKE MR. WRIGHT SAID, WE'VE SEEN JUST OVER 900 OFFENSES RELATED TO CELL PHONE.

NOW THAT IS TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS DOCUMENTING THAT THEY'RE WORKING THROUGH A I HAD A CELL PHONE AND I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE IT.

AND SO I'M NOTATING IT IN THE SYSTEM, A LOT OF THAT SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO TRACK IT.

OF THOSE 900, WE'VE ONLY SEEN SEVEN OUT OF PLACEMENTS RELATED TO THAT, WHICH MEANS THAT THERE'S BEEN MULTIPLE INFRACTIONS BY A STUDENT WHERE WE'VE SEEN A LITTLE BIT MORE IS E VERY OCCASIONALLY WE HAVE AN INSUBORDINATION.

SO WE HAD ABOUT 100 INSUBORDINATION GO ON THROUGHOUT THE FIRST SIX WEEKS.

AND THOSE DO TEND TO HAVE SOME LEVEL OF CONSEQUENCE, WHETHER IT BE, YOU KNOW, AN OUT OF PLACEMENT OR MAYBE IT'S A DETENTION OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

BUT OVERALL, WHEN WE LOOK AT COMPARABLE DATA, YOU KNOW, WE'RE ACTUALLY DOWN IN THE NUMBER OF OUT OF PLACEMENT ACTIONS AND THINGS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE EVEN WITH THE INCREASE IN OFFENSES, BECAUSE A LOT OF THOSE FIRST TIME OFFENSES FOR THE CELL PHONE, YOU KNOW, THEY WE ALL HAVE TO CONVERSATION IN A THEY WEREN'T A CONVERSATION.

RIGHT AND MAYBE A FINE OR SOMETHING.

SO I ACTUALLY DID THE MATH RIGHT WHILE I WAS SITTING THERE BECAUSE I WAS LIKE, I WONDER IF THEY'RE GOING TO ASK THIS QUESTION.

SO I KNOW I SAID 900, AND EVERYBODY'S LIKE, OH MY GOSH, 900.

WELL, WE HAVE 35 OVER 35,000 STUDENTS.

AND IF WE JUST LOOKED AT THAT AT 35 DAYS, WE COULD HAVE 31 MILLION, 500,000 OFFENSES RELATED TO CELL PHONES.

[01:15:01]

AND WE HAVE 900. SO IT'S A VERY SMALL IMPACT RIGHT NOW.

AND IT'S REALLY NOT HAVING AN IMPACT ON OUT OF PLACEMENT AT THIS POINT.

SO WHAT IT IS, I THINK HAVING AN IMPACT ON IS PROBABLY ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE.

AND AS KIDS ARE BECOMING MORE COMFORTABLE, MINE INCLUDED, WHO SAID, YOU KNOW, I'M GOING TO TELL EVERYBODY THAT YOU WROTE THAT POLICY.

AND I'M LIKE, NO, DON'T BE MEAN TO ME.

THEY'RE GOING TO TOILET PAPER YOUR HOUSE.

RIGHT? EVEN THEY SAY THAT THEY'RE LIKE THEY'RE FOCUSED IN CLASS A LOT MORE AND NOT DISTRACTED.

SO I THINK IT'S HAVING A GREAT IMPACT ON ACADEMICS AND PERFORMANCE AND NOT A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON DISCIPLINE.

I LOVE THAT THAT'S YOUR ANSWER, BECAUSE I THINK THAT THE PASSION THAT WE FEEL FOR WHY WE TOOK ACTION IS IN HOPES THAT THAT WAS OUR GRAND RESULT.

RIGHT? SO THANK YOU FOR ALL THE TEACHERS AND YOU GUYS AS ADMINISTRATORS FOR HOLDING THE LINE, BECAUSE DISCIPLINE FOR US IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT AND UNDERSTANDING THAT IT'S GOING TO INCREASE, BUT TO SERVE A BETTER PURPOSE.

RIGHT. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT INFORMATION.

YEAH. STARTING OFF WITH THAT FIRST ON THAT DISCIPLINE AND MAYBE WE'RE, YOU KNOW, WE DIDN'T SEE IT INCREASE MAYBE AS MUCH AS WE MAYBE THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE.

BUT I'M ALSO A FIRM BELIEVER THAT CHILDREN WILL DO WHAT WE ALLOW THEM TO DO, JUST LIKE ANY OF US, YOU KNOW, AND OUR JOBS AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

AND I'M ALSO A FIRM BELIEVER THAT CHILDREN CAN AND WILL LIVE UP TO THEIR EXPECTATIONS.

SO I FEEL THAT A LOT OF THIS HAS TO DO WITH THAT AS WELL.

YOU KNOW, THAT THEY'RE QUICK LEARNERS, OFTEN QUICKER THAN WE ARE, AND THEY REALIZE, YOU KNOW, WHAT COULD OR COULDN'T HAPPEN ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN BEHAVIOR.

SO I ACTUALLY THINK THAT'S NEAT THAT WE'VE CRACKED DOWN, SO TO SAY, ON SEVERAL OF OUR RULES AND POLICIES.

AND IT HASN'T ESCALATED TO CRAZY 35 MILLION, WHATEVER YOU SAID.

RIGHT. 31 MILLION OFFENSES. [LAUGHTER] RIGHT.

AND SO I ALSO LIKE THAT YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN PROACTIVE ON OUR ATTENDANCE BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IF WE CAN ADDRESS IT WITH THE CHILD, LIKE YOU SAID, SOONER THAN LATER, THEN ALSO IT MAY TURN INTO MORE THAN SEVEN THIS NEXT YEAR.

RIGHT ON. KIDS THAT MAYBE THOUGHT THEY WEREN'T GOING TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT ALL.

MINE'S NOT REALLY A QUESTION.

BUT WHAT I DID WANT TO POINT OUT AND I REMEMBER SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I'M NOT GOING TO AGE DAVID NOT TOO MUCH, BUT HE POINTED OUT AT IN ONE OF THESE KIND OF PRESENTATIONS AND I LIKED IT BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, WE HEAR A LOT ABOUT TRANSFERS, WHETHER THEY HAPPEN OR NOT.

AND AS YOU SEE, Y'ALL'S RATE ON MAKING THEM HAPPEN IS GOOD.

BUT WHAT I REALLY LIKE FOR OUR COMMUNITY TO HEAR IS THAT WE DON'T HAVE A BAD SCHOOL.

YOU KNOW, WE DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE THAT NO ONE WANTS TO GO.

AND WHAT I THOUGHT WAS REALLY INTERESTING, EVEN THAT MANY YEARS AGO, WE HAD THE SAME PRETTY MUCH ALL THE SAME SCHOOLS WE HAVE NOW.

AND DAVID POINTED OUT THAT THE SAME NUMBER OF KIDS WANTING TO TRANSFER TO ALL THE SCHOOLS, LIKE IT WASN'T LIKE EVERYBODY WAS IN A MAD DASH TO GET TO THIS CAMPUS OR THIS FEEDER PATTERN.

AND IT WAS ALL THE WAY AROUND THE DISTRICT.

AND I JUST THINK THAT'S REALLY COOL TO KNOW BECAUSE IT ALSO SHOWS WE HAVE THIS MANY SCHOOLS, NEARLY 50 CAMPUSES, AND YET PEOPLE WANT TO GO TO ALL OF THEM, YOU KNOW, AND I JUST REALLY WANT EVERYBODY TO HEAR THAT, ESPECIALLY THE PRINCIPALS AT CAMPUSES THAT MAYBE, YOU KNOW, THE WORD IS BECAUSE JUST IN OUR COMMUNITY, JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THERE DOES NOT MEAN THAT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE DON'T, YOU KNOW? SO I JUST HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT WAS A REALLY COOL THING THAT THEY'RE OUT THERE.

DAVID SAID. IT WAS JUST LIKE TWO YEARS AGO, I THINK.

BUT THANK YOU.

THAT WAS A GREAT PRESENTATION.

THANK YOU. OKAY, SO WE WILL MOVE TO ITEM 9.2.

DR. CANTU. YES.

JEFF BROGDEN AND A FEW OF HIS TEAMMATES THERE ARE GOING TO GIVE US OUR FACILITIES REPORT.

ALL RIGHT, PRESIDENT WILSON, DR.

CANTU AND BOARD MEMBERS, WE ARE PLEASED TO GIVE YOU OUR ANNUAL REPORT.

MY JOB TONIGHT IS I GET TO INTRODUCE MY TEAM OF FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS, WHICH COWBOYS COULD PROBABLY TAKE A LITTLE SCHOOLING FROM ME ON THAT.

IS THAT TOO SOON? TOO SOON. OKAY, SO WE HAVE SOME FANTASTIC FOLKS LEADING OUR ORGANIZATION.

WE REPORT TO DR. SEAN SCOTT, THE DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT.

WE HAVE RITA DENTON AS OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT NUTRITION AND CUSTODIAL SERVICES.

DR. PAUL CASH IS OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE.

HE'S OVER SEVERAL OF OUR DIVISIONS AND THEN SHAWNTEE COWAN, OUR CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER, WHICH YOU WILL HEAR AN ANNUAL REPORT FROM HER LATER THIS YEAR.

WE HAVE FLO TORRES.

I HOPE YOU ALL ARE IN THE BACK BACK THERE.

I THINK WE'RE MAKING UP THE MAJORITY OF THE AUDIENCE TONIGHT AND THAT'S FANTASTIC.

FLO IS OUR DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE ARE VERY BUSY AT THE CENTER, VERY PROUD OF ALL THE THINGS THAT SHE'S BEEN ABLE TO DO TO DEVELOP ALL THE THINGS THAT WE DO WITH OUR COMMUNITY.

BRIAN MERCHANT IS OUR DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION.

HE TOOK A TEN YEAR LEAVE OF ABSENCE AND HE'S BACK WITH US.

AND WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE HIM BACK.

YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR MORE ABOUT TRANSPORTATION IN JUST A MINUTE.

[01:20:02]

OSCAR BARBOUR IS OUR DIRECTOR OF CUSTODIAL SERVICES.

AND BRAND NEW TO US THIS YEAR IS GINA RIETFORS.

SHE IS OUR RISK MANAGER.

SHE'S DOING A FANTASTIC JOB AND HAS HIT THE GROUND RUNNING.

KELLY CAMPBELL LEADS UP OUR ENERGY CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT.

YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR SOME COOL THINGS ABOUT ENERGY CONSERVATION AND WHERE WE ARE TODAY WITH OUR PROGRAM.

KELLY IS ALSO MOST RECENTLY THE VOICE OF GRADUATION.

SO HE HAS DUAL ROLES.

HE WAS OUR GRADUATION ANNOUNCER THIS YEAR, TOO.

AND GARY WALKER LEADS OUR BOND PROGRAM.

I DON'T THINK GARY IS WITH US TONIGHT.

GARY DOES A FANTASTIC JOB.

SO OVERVIEW. I'M GOING TO TELL YOU A QUICK LITTLE STORY ABOUT US.

WE SERVICE OVER 7,000,000FT² NOW IN OUR DISTRICT.

THAT'S HUGE.

WE HAVE 900 ACRES OF MAINTAINABLE PROPERTY AND ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS TOGETHER.

WE HAVE 60 THAT'S OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS, AUXILIARY BUILDINGS AND ATHLETIC BUILDINGS.

SO A PRETTY BIG DISTRICT.

WE WANT TO TAKE THIS QUICK OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO OUR BOND PROGRAM.

YOU WILL HEAR FROM US LATER THIS YEAR TO TELL YOU THAT WE ARE CONCLUDING OUR 2017 BOND PROGRAM.

SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT.

WE'RE ON OUR LAST COUPLE OF PROJECTS.

ONE OF THOSE IS NEWSOM STADIUM WHERE WE'RE RENOVATING THE AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT AND IT IS A SLOW PROCESS BECAUSE THE SUPPLIES AND MANUFACTURING IN THE HVAC WORLD, BUT THAT WILL BE COMING TO AN END AND WE'RE SUPER HAPPY TO REPORT TO YOU THAT WE HAVE COMPLETED EVERYTHING IN OUR BOND PROGRAM THAT WE TOLD OUR COMMUNITY THAT WE WERE GOING TO DO AND SOME EXTRA THINGS.

SO YOU'LL GET TO HEAR ABOUT ALL OF THOSE LATER THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

SO IT'S MY PLEASURE TO TURN IT OVER TO DR.

PAUL CASH TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT MAINTENANCE.

THANK YOU, MR. BROGDEN.

DR. CANTU. MS. WILSON.

TODAY I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT A FEW OF THE DEPARTMENTS THAT ARE UNDER THE FACILITIES UMBRELLA.

I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT.

TALK ABOUT ENERGY MANAGEMENT.

I'M GOING TO TALK ABOUT TRANSPORTATION AND RISK MANAGEMENT.

BUT WHAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT FIRST IS THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT REALLY HAS SEVEN DIFFERENT DIVISIONS.

UNDERNEATH THAT WE'VE GOT OUR CARPENTRY, WE'VE GOT GROUNDS, WE'VE GOT PLUMBING, WE'VE GOT HVAC, YOU'VE GOT ELECTRICAL, YOU'VE GOT PEST AND PLAYGROUNDS, AND YOU'VE GOT THE STUDENT NUTRITION TECHS.

AND SO THEY ARE THEY ARE A GREAT GROUP.

I MEAN, THEY KEEP THIS THIS DISTRICT RUNNING EVERY DAY.

AND SO THE FUN FACT THAT I HAVE UP HERE IS IF YOU HAVE A HOUSE THAT THE AVERAGE HOUSE PROBABLY HAS A FOUR TON AIR CONDITIONER UNIT, WE HAVE OVER WE HAVE ABOUT 14,000 TONS OF HVAC EQUIPMENT THAT ARE IN USE EVERY DAY.

AND, YOU KNOW, THIS SUMMER THEY'VE BEEN RUNNING EXTRA OVERTIME.

AND JUSTIN WHITE, WHEN I WROTE THIS, IT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO AND I SAID THEY'VE NEEDED THE BREAK IN THE WEATHER.

AND THEN OF COURSE, THIS WEEK WE DIDN'T GET THE BREAK AGAIN.

SO THEY'RE GETTING SLAMMED AGAIN.

BUT BUT HE AND HIS TEAM, YOU KNOW, KEEPING THIS EQUIPMENT RUNNING IS HUGE.

SO. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS PICTURE, I REALLY WANT TO POINT OUT TWO THINGS.

OF COURSE, THESE ARE OUR GUYS THAT ARE WORKING.

BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE MIDDLE PICTURE ON THE LEFT, IF YOU NOTICE, IT'S DARK OUTSIDE THERE.

YOU KNOW, OUR GUYS RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES 24/7.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S ON THE WEEKEND, IF IT'S ON SUNDAY.

IF YOU REMEMBER TWO YEARS AGO, DP MORRIS WAS THE SUNDAY WHEN WE'RE COMING BACK FROM CHRISTMAS BREAK.

AND GUESS WHAT? THERE'S A PIPE THAT BREAKS.

BUT, YOU KNOW, I'LL TELL YOU A STORY.

AND MARTIN DAVIS, HE'S THE SUPERVISOR FOR OUR PLUMBING TEAM, IS ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO OR FOUR WEEKS AGO, I GET A CALL IN THE AFTERNOON FROM AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT MANSFIELD HIGH.

AND THEY SAID, WELL, THERE'S WATER BUBBLING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE WALL.

YOU'RE LIKE, OKAY, IS IT OUTSIDE? IS IT. IS IT. IS IT INSIDE? SO LONG STORY SHORT, MARTIN AND HIS TEAM GO OUT THERE.

THEY DECIDE IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE FIXED TONIGHT.

AND IT'S A, I THINK, A THURSDAY NIGHT.

AND SO I TALKED TO MR. BROGDEN. MR. BROGDEN SAYS, LISTEN, WE NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING BY 11:00 OR WE NEED TO KNOW BY 6 A.M.

WHETHER OR NOT IT'S GOING TO BE FIXED.

I SAID, OKAY, WELL, 11:00 IS GONE BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT 11:45 WHEN I TALKED TO HIM.

SO 6:00 WAS THE DEADLINE, RIGHT, FOR THEM TO GET THIS FIXED.

SO MARTIN AND HIS TEAM WORKED BESIDE K AND P, AND THEY FINISHED AND TURNED THE WATER AND TESTED ON AT 5:40 A.M.

SO WE HAD PLENTY OF TIME, RIGHT? 20 MINUTES TO SPARE BEFORE WE HAD TO CALL SCHOOL.

BUT, YOU KNOW, NOBODY KNOWS THAT HE AND HIS TEAM ARE OUT THERE DOING THAT AT 5:00 IN THE MORNING.

AND SO THE OTHER ONE I WANT YOU TO LOOK AT IS UP THERE ON THE FAR RIGHT.

IT SAYS, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO.

WE HAVE THIS SIGN AT THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT ON THE GATE THAT ALL THE GUYS AND TEAM GO IN AND OUT.

AND NATHAN THOMPSON, HE'S OUR FACILITIES ASSESSMENT SUPERVISOR.

HE HAS A COUPLE OF THESE PLACED AROUND THE FACILITY, TOO, JUST SO THAT OUR GUYS KNOW THAT WE APPRECIATE WHAT THEY DO AND WHAT THEY DO MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR ACCOUNTABILITY DATA, THEY PROCESSED OVER 20,000 WORK ORDERS LAST YEAR AND THEY ACHIEVED ALMOST 80% OF THE TIME THEY COMPLETE

[01:25:01]

THOSE IN FIVE DAYS OR LESS.

AND ALSO THEY HAVE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

OUR GOAL IS TO BE AT 23% ANNUALLY.

WE'RE IN THE GREEN ON THAT WITH 21%.

THE REASON THAT OUR EQUIPMENT LASTS AS LONG AS IT DOES AND IS IN A GOOD OF SHAPE AS IT IS, IS BECAUSE THEY'RE COMMITTED TO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

YOU GUYS KNOW HOW THAT WORKS.

SO JEFF MENTIONED EARLIER KELLY CAMPBELL AND CHRIS MUNOZ, OUR ENERGY MANAGEMENT TEAM.

AGAIN, WE ARE 2023 PARTNERS OF THE YEAR FOR THE ENERGY STAR.

YOU KNOW, WE'RE ONLY ONE OF EIGHT SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT THAT ACCOMPLISHES THIS.

THIS YEAR, THEY ARE OVER 19 MILLION SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE PROGRAM, WHICH IS ABOUT 12 YEARS OLD.

AND THIS YEAR WE'RE GOING TO TOP 20 MILLION.

I MEAN, THEY ARE THE ELITE OF THE ELITE.

THOSE TWO GUYS. AND WE WENT TO A LITTLE SUMMIT THE OTHER DAY AND ANOTHER SCHOOL GOT AN AWARD.

AND KELLY CAMPBELL GOES, WE'RE WINNING THAT NEXT YEAR.

SO. YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, RIGHT? SO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT THAT I'M REALLY PROUD TO REPRESENT, BRIAN MERCHANT OUT THERE.

RAISE YOUR HAND, BRIAN.

YEP, BRIAN'S BACK.

AND SO SOME OF THE WHEN WE CAME HERE LAST YEAR, WE TALKED ABOUT THE INCEPTION OF THE PARENT APP EARLIER THIS YEAR.

WE HAD SOME HICCUPS IN THAT, BUT BRIAN AND HIS TEAM, SHAWNA CELESTIN, THEY SAID, HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS GET THIS INTO THE HANDS OF HANDS OF PARENTS BECAUSE WE KNOW IT'S A TOOL THAT THEY CAN UTILIZE.

AND SO THEY'VE REQUIRED REGISTRATION FOR THAT.

AND WE EXPECT SOME OTHER THINGS TO HELP WITH THAT APP.

BUT THEY DRIVE OVER 2.9 MILLION MILES A YEAR.

THAT'S ABOUT HOW MANY YOU PUT ON YOUR CARS, RIGHT.

AND SO THEY HAVE 344 REGULAR ROUTE BUSSES.

BUT EVEN THAT BEING SAID, IT WAS A TOUGH YEAR.

ONE OF THE MEASURES THAT WE HAVE IS THE NUMBER OF BUSSES THAT ARE OUT OF SERVICE DAILY AND THEIR GOAL IS TO BE LESS THAN 12%.

AND THEY FOUGHT HARD.

MECHANICS HE'S REVITALIZED THE TEAM OF MECHANICS OVER THERE IN THE LEADERSHIP OF THAT DEPARTMENT.

AND EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN THE RED, YOU CAN SEE PROGRESS FROM WHERE THE YEAR STARTED.

AND SO THE OTHER THING AND SO THEN RISK MANAGEMENT, GINA RIETFORS HAS MOVED OVER INTO THAT POSITION THIS YEAR AND THEY'VE IN THE LAST THREE YEARS REDUCED THE NUMBER OF WORKERS COMP CLAIMS BY 40%.

AND THAT'S FROM TRAINING AND IT'S JUST FROM PEOPLE BECOMING MORE AWARE OF WHAT EXACTLY DOES WORKER'S COMP LOOK LIKE.

IN REGARD TO THEIR ACCOUNTABILITY IF IT'S NOT BASED ON THE NUMBER OF WORKERS COMP CLAIMS, IT'S BASED ON THE MONEY.

AND A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WE HAD SOME BIG HIGH TICKET CLAIMS THAT WE'RE STILL PAYING ON.

AND SO THAT'S THE EVEN THOUGH THE NUMBERS HAVE GONE DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY, THE MONEY IS STILL ABOVE WHAT THE GOAL IS.

SO THEY'RE GOING TO WORK ON THAT.

SO NOW I THANK YOU FOR THAT.

I'M GOING TO INTRODUCE MISS RITA DENTON.

THANK YOU, DR. CASH.

GOOD EVENING. SWITCHING GEARS TO STUDENT NUTRITION, WE ARE CURRENTLY SERVING RIGHT AROUND 22,000 LUNCH MEALS EACH DAY.

AND IN FACT, LAST WEEK WE CROSSED THE THRESHOLD OF 22,000 MEALS IN ONE DAY.

SO OFF TO AN AMAZING START.

THIS IS ABOUT 6% UP FROM WHERE WE WERE AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR, AND WE ARE SERVING A TOUCH OVER 6500 STUDENTS BREAKFAST MEALS EVERY DAY.

AND THIS IS ABOUT 9% UP FROM WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME.

SO THE EXCLAMATION POINT HERE IS THAT WE HAVE 273 KITCHEN TEAM MEMBERS ACROSS OUR 46 KITCHENS, WHICH MAKES US ALMOST FULLY STAFFED. AND IT WAS ONLY A YEAR AGO DURING THIS PRESENTATION AT THIS TIME OF YEAR WHEN WE HAD A VOID OF OVER 100 STAFF MEMBERS BETWEEN THE CUSTODIAL DEPARTMENT AND THE NUTRITION DEPARTMENT COMBINED.

SO WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR CAN MAKE, RIGHT? SO WE UNFORTUNATELY FELL SHORT ON OUR MEAL GOAL IN 22-23.

THIS WAS AN AGGRESSIVE MEAL GOAL THAT I SET THE YEAR COMING AFTER FREE MEALS FOR ALL, AND WE GAVE IT OUR BEST SHOT.

AND I'M VERY PROUD OF THESE RESULTS.

WHAT ULTIMATELY SEPARATED US FROM THAT GREEN CATEGORY WERE THOSE FOUR ICE DAYS BACK IN THE WINTER TIME.

AND NOBODY CAN REALLY HELP MOTHER NATURE IN THAT SENSE.

OUR FOOD COST GOAL.

WE DID EXCELLENT THERE EXCEEDING OUR GOAL.

YOU WILL REMEMBER OUR CYBER EVENT WAS EARLY IN THE YEAR, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.

AND SO YOU SEE IT'S VERY LOW RIGHT THERE.

WE WERE SERVING A TON OF MEALS AND BUYING A TON OF FOOD AND WE WERE NOT PAYING ANY BILLS.

BUT SO DON'T WORRY, WE DID PAY THE BILLS AND THAT HAPPENED IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER.

AND SO THAT'S THE UPSWING THAT YOU SEE THERE.

AND THEN LOOK HOW LEVEL WE ARE THEREAFTER, VERY CONSISTENT AND LEVEL.

AND SO THAT IS VERY MUCH A TEAM APPROACH.

[01:30:02]

BUT WHERE THE RUBBER HITS THE ROAD IS RIGHT THERE AT THE FRONT LINES.

THAT'S REALLY WHERE THE IMPACT HAPPENS, WHETHER YOU'RE GOING TO HIT THAT OR NOT.

SO I'M VERY PROUD OF THE STAFF MEMBERS WHO REALLY KEEP FOCUSED ON THIS THROUGH THE YEAR.

AND CUSTODIAL SERVICES UPDATE A VERY NOTEWORTHY FACT IS THAT 44% OF OUR CUSTODIANS COMMUTE INTO WORK HERE IN MANSFIELD FROM OTHER NEIGHBORING CITIES AND TOWNS.

AND SO THIS MEANS THAT THEY GET INTO THEIR CARS AND THEY DRIVE PAST A LOT OF OTHER ENTITIES, OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS, OTHER FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENTS, RETAIL TO COME HERE TO MANSFIELD ISD.

AND SO THEY CHOOSE US.

AND SO THAT JUST REALLY, REALLY IS A COOL THING AND JUST SAYS THAT MANSFIELD REALLY IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, LEARN AND TEACH.

AND ANOTHER EXCLAMATION POINT HERE IS THAT WE ARE PRACTICALLY FULLY STAFFED AS WELL IN THIS DIVISION.

JUST ABOUT A DOZEN MORE SLOTS TO FILL.

SO, YES, AMAZING. AND THIS IS PERFECT TIMING TO JUST THANK YOU BOARD FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT DURING THOSE DIFFICULT STAFFING YEARS SINCE COVID AND FOR THE INCREASE OF OUR WAGES. IT REALLY DID HELP.

SO THANK YOU.

AND EVEN THOUGH WE HAD THOSE GAPS IN OUR ROSTER STAFFING ROSTER, YOU WILL SEE THAT OUR ATTENTION TO SAFETY NEVER DID WAVER.

OSCAR BARBOUR AND HIS TEAM, THEY REALLY PUT A LOT INTO MAKING SURE THAT WE EXCEED THOSE GOALS BY PROVIDING SAFETY TRAINING.

THEY ARE VERY DEDICATED TO PROVIDING THAT FOR NEW HIRES AND FOR RETURNING STAFF ALIKE.

AND SO IT PAYS OFF. HE EXCEEDED BOTH OF HIS GOALS THERE AND CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS UPDATE.

THIS IS A VERY FUN FACT FOR THE EVENING IS THAT THEY GRADUATED THE 50TH THOUSANDTH MISD GRADUATE ACROSS THE STAGE THIS YEAR AND THIS BUILDING EVER SINCE THEY HAVE BEEN HOLDING GRADUATIONS HERE.

AND SO THAT IS JUST SUCH A WONDERFUL REMINDER OF ALL THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT WE HAVE HERE IN MANSFIELD AND THAT WE GET TO CELEBRATE SO MUCH IN THIS BEAUTIFUL BUILDING.

AND MISS TORRES AND HER TEAM DID AMAZING ON THEIR GOALS CRUSHING THE GOAL THAT THEY SET OUT FOR WAS TO SERVE AT LEAST 25% OF THE EVENTS WOULD BE DEDICATED TO MISD FINE ARTS, AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY EXCEEDED THAT AT 67%.

AND SO ALL GREAT THINGS.

AND AT THIS TIME WE ARE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE.

WE'LL START ON THIS TO MY LEFT.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? OKAY. THAT'S A GOOD SIGN.

WHAT ABOUT DOWN HERE? MISS THOMAS.

I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO YOUR TEAM.

YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF STUFF GOING ON.

THAT BOND PACKAGE, IT'S NICE THAT IT'S COMING TO AN END.

THAT WAS A HUGE BOND PACKAGE.

WE HAD NEW SCHOOLS, WE HAD ATHLETIC BUILDINGS AND ALL KINDS OF STUFF.

SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR TEAM AND YOUR BOND AND GARY FOR DOING ALL THAT.

THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK.

THE BUS APP IS WONDERFUL.

THAT IS THE PARENTS ARE LOVING THAT.

SO KUDOS FOR THAT AND THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, THEY ARE GREAT AT PEST REMOVAL TOO.

THROUGHOUT THE YEARS THEY'VE HELPED REMOVE SOME BEES AND SNAKES AND, A COUPLE OF POSSUMS OVER AT MY CLOTHES CLOSET.

SO I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THEM.

AND THEN, RITA, YOU AND YOUR MILK STATION.

I KNOW OUR KIDS AT LEGACY ARE LOVING THAT THING.

THEY'RE COMING WITH THE YETIS AND FILLING THEIR YETIS FULL OF MILK.

I COULD NEVER DRINK THAT MUCH MILK, BUT THEY'RE LOVING IT.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE REALLY SUPPOSED TO DO THEM.

SO HOPEFULLY I'M NOT RATTING THE KIDS OUT, BUT NATIONAL DAIRY COUNCIL WOULD BE THRILLED.

THEY'RE LOVING THEIR MILK.

THEIR ICE COLD MILK. WELL, THANK YOU, GUYS.

I THINK [INAUDIBLE] TOUCHED ON MOST EVERYTHING THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT DOES.

I'M JUST FOR ONE. GLAD TO SEE YOUR DEPARTMENT'S DOING SOMETHING BECAUSE I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED.

[LAUGHTER] SO YOU ALL ARE PRETTY AMAZING.

IT JUST KEPT GOING.

IT JUST KEPT GOING. I KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE SO MUCH MORE IF YOU HAD THE TIME, BUT THANK YOU GUYS.

FOR WHAT ALL YOU DO.

BEFORE WE CLOSE COULD ALSO RECOGNIZE DOCTOR CASH RECOGNIZED CHRIS MUNOZ BACK THERE.

BUT I ALSO SAW SANDRA THOMAS, WHICH IS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IN STUDENT NUTRITION.

SHE PLAYS A VERY INTEGRAL PART IN OUR OPERATION, TOO.

SO THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

YES. THANK YOU, GUYS.

OKAY. SO WE WILL NOW MOVE TO ITEM 10, OUR PUBLIC COMMENTS.

[10. Public Comments]

JUST A QUICK REMINDER THAT WE DO HAVE ONLINE REGISTRATION NOW FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS AND THAT CAN BE DONE STARTING WHEN THE AGENDA IS POSTED AND IS POSTED NO LATER THAN 72 HOURS BEFORE ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL 1:00 ON THE DAY OF THE MEETING.

AND SO FROM THERE I'LL READ THE TYPICAL.

[01:35:04]

I WAS JUST TRYING NOT TO BORE YOU TOO MUCH.

SO THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING THE BOARD DURING PUBLIC COMMENTS IS AS FOLLOWS.

EACH SPEAKER SHOULD ADDRESS THE BOARD FROM THE PODIUM, MICROPHONE AND STATE HIS OR HER NAME BEFORE SPEAKING.

ALL SPEAKERS WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE MINUTES TO MAKE COMMENTS REGARDING ITEMS ON THE AGENDA UNLESS MODIFIED BY THE BOARD PRESIDENT BASED ON BOARD POLICY BED LOCAL COPIES OF PRESENTATIONS SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL TRUSTEES AND THE SUPERINTENDENT.

BOARD POLICY PROHIBITS THE DISCUSSION OR COMPLAINTS AGAINST DISTRICT EMPLOYEES DURING AN OPEN FORUM.

I HAVE ONE PUBLIC COMMENT THIS EVENING AND THAT IS KATIE HAYES.

HI, NEIGHBORS. I'M KATIE HAYES.

MY PRONOUNS ARE SHE, HER.

AND I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU ALL TONIGHT.

I'M SPEAKING TONIGHT REGARDING ITEM 12.1 ON THE AGENDA, AND I JUST CAME TO OFFER MY SUPPORT IN FAVOR OF RESOLUTION 2 407. I WANT TO THANK THIS SCHOOL BOARD FOR YEARS THAT I KNOW OF, OF STEADFAST COMMITMENT TO KEEPING PUBLIC MONEY IN PUBLIC EDUCATION.

I'M SPEAKING TO YOU AS THE DAUGHTER OF A LONGTIME SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER FROM A RURAL TOWN IN WEST TEXAS AND THE DAUGHTER OF A MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL FOR MANY YEARS IN THAT DISTRICT. WHEN MY MOM WAS EMPLOYED, MY DAD WASN'T ON THE SCHOOL BOARD AND VICE VERSA.

I'M ALSO A MOM OF TWO KIDS WHO WENT THROUGH MANSFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND WE WERE SO PLEASED WITH THE EDUCATION THEY RECEIVED, ESPECIALLY NOW BECAUSE THEY PAY A LITTLE RENT TO STILL LIVE AT HOME WITH US AS YOUNG ADULTS.

AND I'M THE PASTOR TO MANY FAMILIES WHO ARE STAKEHOLDERS IN THIS DISTRICT.

BUT TONIGHT, PERHAPS MOST RELEVANT IS THAT I'M A MEMBER OF PASTORS FOR TEXAS CHILDREN, WHICH IS A SINGLE ISSUE ADVOCACY GROUP THAT CONTINUES TO LOBBY OUR LEGISLATURE AROUND KEEPING PUBLIC DOLLARS IN PUBLIC EDUCATION.

I WILL NO DOUBT BE IN AUSTIN AT LEAST ONCE, MAYBE MORE, IF I NEED TO, DURING OCTOBER DURING THE SPECIAL SESSION THAT WILL BE CALLED TO RUN THROUGH THIS EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNT SLASH VOUCHER THING ONE MORE TIME.

AND I'M GOING TO BE SO GLAD TO BE THERE KNOWING THAT MY NEIGHBORS IN MANSFIELD BOTH NEED AND SUPPORT STRONG, HEALTHY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THAT OUR SCHOOLS IN MANSFIELD AND ACROSS THE STATE NEED ALL THE RESOURCES THAT WE AS A PUBLIC CITIZENRY CAN AFFORD.

IT IS FOR ALL OF OUR KIDS TOGETHER.

AND SO I JUST CAME TONIGHT TO SAY THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR GOOD WORK IN THIS CIVIC AND NEIGHBORLY PUBLIC GOOD.

THANKS. THANK YOU.

WE NOW MOVE TO ITEM 11, OUR HUMAN RESOURCES REPORT SPECIFICALLY 11.1 OUR 20 PLUS YEARS RECOGNITIONS.

[11. Human Resources Report]

TRUSTEE THOMAS WOULD YOU LIKE TO READ THE LIST FOR US? YES. WE HAVE ONE GENTLEMAN TONIGHT, MR. LARRY HARMON.

HE HAD 27 YEARS IN WITHIN EDUCATION AND HE WAS OUR AVID COORDINATOR.

SO THANK YOU, MR. HARMON, FOR ALL YOUR SERVICE AND YOUR DEDICATION TO MISD AND OUR KIDS.

THANK YOU. [APPLAUSE] SO 11.2 ARE NEW HIRES FOR BOARD APPROVAL. MAY I PLEASE RECEIVE A MOTION TO APPROVE THESE RECOMMENDATIONS? RECOMMENDATION? IS THAT MISS THOMAS? OKAY. AND A SECOND BY MISS ANDERSON.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS MOTION? OKAY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR OF THE MOTION MAY I PLEASE SEE A SHOW OF HANDS.

AND ALL THOSE OPPOSED.

OKAY, SO THE MOTION PASSES.

SEVEN ZERO.

SORRY. I'M HAVING A TROUBLE HERE WITH MY DIGITAL PEN.

OKAY, SO NOW WE MOVE TO ITEM 12.

[12. Business Items Requiring Board Action]

OUR BUSINESS ITEMS REQUIRING BOARD ACTION 12.1 CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NUMBER 24-07 EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNTS IN PARENTHESES.

IT HAS VOUCHERS.

MAY I PLEASE RECEIVE A MOTION? IS THAT MS. ANDERSON? IS THERE A SECOND? SECOND, MISS FARRAR.

OKAY. ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING? MS. FARRAR? I JUST I WANTED TO MAKE A COUPLE OF COMMENTS ABOUT JUST SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS RESOLUTION.

I'LL JUST KIND OF TOUCH ON A COUPLE OF POINTS AND THEN IF ANYONE ELSE WANTS TO ADD ANY, PLEASE FEEL FREE BECAUSE IT'S LONG AND DETAILED.

SO IT JUST BASICALLY TALKS ABOUT WE ALL KNOW THAT GOVERNOR ABBOTT HAS CALLED A SPECIAL SESSION AND THAT THEY WILL TALK ABOUT VOUCHERS ONCE AGAIN.

[01:40:01]

SO US AS A BOARD, WE BELIEVE THAT FULLY FUNDING TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS SHOULD BE THE TOP PRIORITY OF THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE THIS SESSION.

A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT TEXAS CURRENTLY RANKS 41ST IN PER STUDENT FUNDING.

AND MANSFIELD ISD BELIEVES A HIGHER PER STUDENT ALLOTMENT WOULD BE ADOPTED, SHOULD BE ADOPTED.

THAT ACCOUNT FOR THAT ACCOUNTS FOR INFLATION AND BRINGS TEXAS TO THE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT COME DOWN FROM TEA THAT WE'RE REQUIRED TO DO AND THEY'RE NOT COVERED.

WE DON'T GET, YOU KNOW, OUR ALLOTMENT HASN'T GONE UP AND I DON'T I DON'T REMEMBER HOW MANY YEARS, BUT WE JUST THINK THAT TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS, JUST THE BARE NECESSITY OF ACTUALLY FUNDING THEM SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO EDUCATE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS.

IT GOES ON TO TALK ABOUT HOW, LET'S SEE, TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS WE ACCEPT EVERY STUDENT, WHEREAS PRIVATE SCHOOLS DON'T.

WE BELIEVE THAT RECAPTURE IS A FAULTY PLAN THAT PENALIZES STUDENTS AND DISTRICTS ACROSS THE STATE AND ASSERT THAT IF THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE, FULLY FUNDED TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS RECAPTURE AND RECAPTURE WOULD BE UNNECESSARY.

ANYBODY WOULD ANYONE ELSE LIKE TO DISCUSS ANY OF THE TOPICS OR HAVE SOME HEARTFELT COMMENTS ABOUT ANY OF THEM? BIANCA OH, SORRY. MS. ANDERSON. I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THIS HAS BEEN HEAVY ON US FOR QUITE A WHILE.

AND WHEN I WAS DOWN IN AUSTIN SPEAKING TO TASB BOARD OF DIRECTORS, I ACTUALLY SPOKE ON THIS POINT.

THEY KNEW WHERE WE STOOD AND WE'RE GOING TO BE DILIGENT ABOUT STAYING THERE.

SO. SO ANYONE ELSE? OKAY. DR.

REED? GOOD MORNING.

I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT WE SUPPORT FUNDING PUBLIC EDUCATION IN MANSFIELD ISD AND WE APPRECIATE ALL OF THE SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY LEADERS AS WELL AS OUR PARENTS, TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS AND THOSE WHO ARE JUST TAXPAYERS WHO WANT TO SEE GOOD EDUCATION IN THE AREA WHERE THEY LIVE AND SEE THE STUDENTS GET AN EXCELLENT EDUCATION.

SO WE DO SUPPORT PUBLIC EDUCATION.

WE WANT TO KEEP OUR FUNDING HERE.

THERE'S AS MS. FARRAR SAID, THERE'S A LOT IN THAT FIRST READ, BUT IT'S IMPORTANT THAT OUR COMMUNITIES KNOW WE ARE IN SUPPORT AND WE WANT THE SUPPORT.

WE WANT THEIR VOCAL, ACTIVE SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION IN MANSFIELD ISD.

MS. NEWSOM. MANSFIELD ISD IS A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF HOW PUBLIC EDUCATION CAN BE DONE INCREDIBLY WELL.

WE WORK VERY, VERY HARD AT THIS.

WE WORK VERY, VERY HARD AT GETTING THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT PLACES OVER THE RIGHT TIME, GROWING THE RIGHT THINGS, BUILDING THE COMMUNITY THAT WE DO.

AND WE SET A REALLY GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS CAN BE DONE THE RIGHT WAY.

WE'RE JUST ASKING FOR THE RIGHT, THE RIGHT MONEY TO BE ABLE TO DO IT.

TO BE FAIR, WE GET GRANTED UNFUNDED MANDATES ALL THE TIME OF THINGS THAT WE'RE REQUIRED TO DO THAT NOBODY ELSE IS REQUIRED TO DO. WE DON'T MIND COMPETITION.

IN FACT, I THINK WE ALL AT MANSFIELD ISD KIND OF ENJOY IT.

WE JUST WANT IT TO BE FAIR.

SO PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE'RE VERY, VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT.

WE WANT TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT.

WE WANT TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR EVERY KID BECAUSE PUBLIC EDUCATION IS THE GREAT EQUALIZER.

AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYBODY HAS THE SAME OPPORTUNITY.

OKAY. BEFORE I GO, DR.

CANTU, YOU HAD SOMETHING.

I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU GUYS AS A BOARD FOR GOING FORWARD WITH THIS RESOLUTION AND STANDING UP FOR OUR KIDS AND OUR STAFF AND SAYING THAT IT'S NOT OKAY TO DRAW MONEY AWAY FROM MANSFIELD ISD AND FOR ANY OTHER PUBLIC SCHOOL IN THE STATE OF TEXAS THAT WOULD STOP PREVENT PUBLIC SCHOOLS FROM BEING ABLE TO OFFER THE GREAT THINGS LIKE WHAT SOME OF THE THINGS WE HEARD ABOUT TONIGHT.

SO THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR OUR STUDENTS AND OUR STAFF.

WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM.

YES, ABSOLUTELY.

AND, YOU KNOW, WE'VE SIGNED ON BEFORE.

WE BROUGHT IT UP BEFORE THAT.

WE DON'T JUST ADVOCATE FOR US RIGHT HERE IN OUR SO-CALLED LITTLE PERFECT BUBBLE THAT WE HAVE, OR AT LEAST I LIKE TO THINK SO, BUT WE ACTUALLY ADVOCATE FOR ALL PUBLIC EDUCATION, ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE STATE OF TEXAS, BECAUSE WE ARE ON THE SAME BOAT.

ONE OF MY CONSTITUENTS MENTIONED HOW WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN A RAISE, SO TO SAY, PER CHILD.

AND WE'RE STILL BACK TO THAT WHERE HOW THEY DECIDE CHILDREN ARE WORTH MORE MONEY IN CERTAIN DISTRICTS THAN OTHERS, WHICH IS STILL A STRANGE FORMULA TO ME.

BUT WE DO.

AND IT IS MORE THAN JUST VOCAL, ALTHOUGH WE APPRECIATE IT WHEN THEY GIVE US ACCOLADES VOCALLY.

BUT I'M JUST GOING TO SAY FOR WHAT IT IS AND IT'S SHOW ME THE MONEY BECAUSE WE'RE ALL WONDERING WHERE IT GOES.

YOU KNOW, IT GETS COLLECTED.

AND I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE QUESTIONED SOME OF OUR COUNTERPARTS THAT HAVE DECIDED WITH THEIR RECAPTURE FUNDS.

[01:45:10]

WELL, THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.

THAT WASN'T THEM JUST BEING OBSTINATE AND NOT WANTING TO FOLLOW THE RULES.

THEY DON'T LIKE WHERE THE MONEY'S NOT GOING.

YOU KNOW, IT'S ONE THING IF IT GOES BACK INTO PUBLIC EDUCATION.

BUT FOR ALL WE KNOW, IT'S GOING TO FIX I-35.

SO AND THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS.

SO WITH THAT, WOULD ANYBODY ANYTHING ELSE? OKAY. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR OF THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION, MAY I SEE A SHOW OF HANDS? AND THAT HAS BEEN UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED 7 TO 0.

IS THERE ANY DISCUSSION ON THIS? OKAY. MR. TIPPING? YES.

I JUST WANT TO MENTION A FEW THINGS BECAUSE THERE'S SOME TIMELINES THAT WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF WITH THIS.

FIRST OF ALL, THE NOMINATIONS FOR EITHER OF THESE APPRAISAL DISTRICTS AND REALLY ACROSS THE STATE, THEY'RE ALL THE SAME IS OCTOBER 15TH.

SO THAT'S WHY WE'RE NOMINATING TONIGHT.

WE WILL BE GIVEN THE NOMINEES NAMES FOR EACH OF THESE DISTRICTS BY OCTOBER 31ST, AND THEN WE WILL HAVE TO VOTE ON WHO WELL, WHO WE DETERMINE THAT WE WANT TO BE ON THE BOARD BY DECEMBER 15TH.

WE I THINK WE ALL RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT REGARDING THE NUMBER OF VOTES THAT WE WILL HAVE AS MISD.

I BELIEVE THE NUMBER WAS 221.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, WE'LL BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THAT MORE AS THAT TIME COMES CLOSER.

BUT I JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO BE AWARE OF THE TIMELINES THAT WE'RE ON.

THANK YOU, MR. MISS THOMAS? I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU THIS THAT CRAIG AND MR. TIPPING AND HIS COMMITTEE HAS DONE TO KEEP US IN THE KNOW ON THIS THE TARRANT APPRAISAL DISTRICT.

THERE HAS BEEN SOME A LOT OF STUFF GOING ON AND IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE NEED TO BE AWARE OF BECAUSE IT DOES DEAL WITH OUR PROPERTY TAXES.

AND AND I KNOW MS. TRONGAARD HAS GIVEN US SOME INFORMATION OR GIVEN MR. TIPPING SOME INFORMATION WITH OUR FRUSTRATION AS A DISTRICT, AND IT'S NICE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A VOICE.

SO I APPRECIATE MR. TIPPING AND ALL HIS WORK ON THIS TO KEEP US IN THE KNOW AND TO KNOW WHAT BOARD MEMBERS TO VOTE ON AND KEEPING US KNOWLEDGEABLE OF ALL THAT. SO I DO APPRECIATE THAT.

THANK YOU. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE?
